Tawa Yama - Karlsruhe

I was there for a celebration and been reading good reviews about it, and I was getting my hopes up. The ambience, I guess, was good for people who like it? But not my cup of tea. Food was almost indescribable. To be fair, the bun was quite okay - it was the only thing I could eat. Unfortunately, I was greatly disappointed by the main dish - the meat was hard to chew, and the rice..it was the hardest bowl of rice I’ve ever had. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I was there for an office event and have only good things to say! Lots of parking places. The restaurant itself is beautiful. Excellent service, really friendly. Although they didn’t have a menu in english for us. And finally: THE FOOD! The starting dishes were all really tasty and unique: the shrimp 🍤 and the little tofu salad were an EXPLOSION of flavour. For the main course I had the chance to try both of the options that were offered to us and they were 10/10! I loved the sweet-salty combination of my meat and the texture was HEAVENLY! I could go back just for dessert! They were also so good. WHAT A GREAT MEAL. Also nice drinks and Sake! I enjoyed it a lot

Tawa Yama Fine - My experience was a success, I was delighted with the place. The service is excellent and every dish I tried was better than the other. Perfect: the atmosphere, the service, the food, the presentation, the drinks.

This rating is for the Tawa Yama Easy. Great location, great atmosphere. The drinks were really good, some of the best Spritz! The prices are definitely high - we paid about 75 pP. The food didnt quite match the price although it was excellent, especially the fish based dishes such as the sashimi plate. Will try the fine at some point but can recommend for a great evening with nice ambiance

Not recommended if you are interested in good food . Had a full course but the price and quality ratio is not good. The name of the place is TAWA YAMA so i expected some more Asian/japanese taste of the food but was a let down by how westernized everything is. Peanut butter with Gyoza? Seafood flavoured ice cream? C'mon. I guess the 1 star Michelin they got is from the fanciness of the restaurant, the good selection of wine and the service from the staff, not the taste of the food.

Intriguing asia fusion food. On the upper price scale but very delicious and interesting dishes! Service was very polite and forthcoming. Ambiance is modern and very fitting. Offered Blankets and heat lamps for outside. Look forward to visiting again!

We went here for the Easy lunch menu. The Pho broth was very light, and all the veggies were fresh and crunchy. A very refreshing meal, highly recommend! The oriental kiss drink is also great. We finished off with the 3 assortments of mochi. The coconut one was served way too frozen and hard. The mango mochi was my favourite. Overall, a lovely meal at reasonable prices. They also parking spaces which you don’t see from the main street, you have to drive in.

After a rather unsatisfying visit about a month ago, we were invited back by Tawa Yama to have another try. Granted, this new restaurant is still working hard to optimize it‘s offerings, the second visit was actually really nice. The outdoor balcony is wonderful (when it’s warm), the waiting staff were very attentive, and the food has vastly improved. And by that I don‘t mean in terms of quality (it was always good to be fair) but in the price-performance ratio. The first visit we had the Bento Burger and left not completely satisfied, this time round was a completely different story. Just look at this mountain of a burger. We also appreciate that the restaurant took our feedback seriously and also made us feel really welcome. Thank you. PS. If you are familiar with the location, you will also see that the car park has been transformed into a really nice garden adding a nice touch to the quiet area.
