Queer Bar Style Is Going Way Beyond Pride Flags | Eater

"A roving, monthly queer BIPOC‑centered dance party founded to prioritize transgender and queer people of color, this event began as a pop‑up and moves between small local venues to spotlight neighborhood businesses. Its low‑key chic vibe is communicated through graphics, merch, and carefully curated sound; promotional art nods to neo‑Y2K nonchalance and, for some iterations, Arabic‑lettering aesthetics, while the dance floor attracts an eclectic crowd in vintage and streetwear looks and themed nights (like prom) that bring out big gowns." - Francky Knapp

Yelp
I will get what didn't align out of the way first... We picked up our own menus & sat ourselves down (no big deal...), the party that came in after was taken care of prior to our table, the Boba teas we ordered took forever to be served even after the food came to the table, water wasn't refilled until the end when we were packing up, credit card receipt had an add on tip line not clearly defined as add on "additional tip" & the breakdown receipt was not provided to confirm what I saw as 18% gratuity was already added. As for the food portion they were a decent size. The establishment is nice & clean. The appetizers (that came with after the soup was served) were tasty. Overall a one & done kinda place for us. Glad we did give them a try...

Yelp
Hi Pot Pembroke Pines promises you an authentic hot pot experience all from the middle of Pembroke Pines! Coming to a hot pot restaurant I naturally had to order hot pot. But there aren't any vegetarian options so I opted for the Korean Kimchi hot pot. Which was good and very hot but not super spicy. I really was in it for the noddles and veggies but most of it was pork that I was not a huge fan of but if you love pork this one might be for you! The service was super fast. I was really surprised how quickly they brought the food. And overall it was an ok meal. I like how the place focused on hot pots and how large the portions were but being so meat heavy with no vegetarian options for hot pot was not something I particularly loved. The restaurant was still nice and cute and the servers were great. If you're interested at all I def recommend checking it out!

Yelp
This place was so interesting and my discovery on this place was definitely worth every penny! I ordered their cheese milk soup dish and it was fantastic! The milk tastes so delicious almost like coconut and everything in the bowl was very good. I had never eaten clear noodles before. First time trying clear noodles and EXTRA delicious fresh quail eggs which just tasted ...like tiny chicken eggs, but blended extremely well and just SO GOOD in the milk liquid. The soup was fresh, very creamy and very satisfying! I loved how the bottom of my dish was lit with fire before I started eating. This place is quite the experience if you wanna try something different and so tasty! Also the waiter guy was VERY kind. I couldn't even finish the entire bowl since ...they serve huge portions here! I took half home. VERY special little place and fun!!

Yelp
HI POT Order your broth very hot hot My first couple times I didn't know you could alter the spice But man getting it extra spicy was very nice It made the broth and aromas stand out more So, what more could you ask for? I heard it's under new ownership But I've always liked hi pot even without this I think I'm at a 5 now because the service was great Beef and Tom Yum are the broths I give a 5-star rate!

Yelp
The food was different and interesting. One hot pot is enough for two people if you don't mind sharing and don't want to take home leftovers. The service workers were friendly but weren't really helpful to new customers to understand the menu. The ambiance is not what i expected, it looked small from the outside but its quite big. I don't know if i would go out of my way to go here again BUT it was a nice experience

Yelp
Ambiance is inviting once you enter. I took my nieces and daughter to have boba tea. I'm not a fan of the tea. We wanted to sit down but we're told we can't unless we are dining in. I was shocked as the place only had 1 other customer. So we were not taking up precious space. So I ordered fried shrimp shumai. We went to pay but terminal machine was down. Oddly , we were asked to just leave the debit card there on counter and they will ring it up later when machine is back working. To manager I'll say this we live in a time when people get hacked and to ask a stranger to trust you with leaving their financial instrument in your hands for undisclosed timeframe without your supervision, does not sit well with anyone I know. Luckily I had cash. So we sat ate , food was ok. The family said they enjoyed the tea.

Yelp
This small Hot pot restaurant is the perfect lunch or dinner spot. I love the beef hot pot and Boba. The mochi donuts are delicious. Give them a try you won't regret it

Yelp
This place is just perfect for a soup kinda day. A cozy and warm place. If you are craving hotpot but not an AYCE this place is the spot. The flavors hit the spot everytime. My favorite pot to get here is the Sichuan Hotpot. To be honest one pot is enough for 2 people. On a rainy day this is all I crave for. Their appetizers are also really good. I get the popcorn chicken all the time. They also have very quick service time which is highly appreciated. They can give you your pot within 15-20 minutes the longest. Lastly I did not expect their boba to even be decent but surprisingly its actually very good! I always get the honey dew boba here and the jasmine milk tea. This is definitely my spot for a quick hotpot day.

Yelp
If I could give this place a 2.5 I would. I have had hot pot before and it is so good, this place just does not hit. It's just okay. The garlic pork belly was a bit cold when we got it and had no flavor until we added sweet chili sauce. The food does come out relatively fast and they do some and check on you, so costumer service is okay, but the food was not what I thought as hot pot.

Yelp
This is a great place for hot pot and if you are really craving for boba! They have many hot pot options and I chose the lamb one. It was a very hearty hot pot that came with lots of different ingredients, and surprisingly it also came with seafood like clams, yum! They included a generous amount of lamb too. The waiter lit up the stove thing so the pot continued to cook while you eat. I was happy with my boiling-hot tasty, nutritious pot. I also got guava milk tea boba. The flavor tasted good, but not the best I've tried. I wouldn't come here just for their boba. Although they have a variety of hot pot options, they have quite a limited selection of other dishes like rice bowls or noodles. I'm Taiwanese and I wish they could include more Taiwanese food like Taiwanese street food. For now I'd revisit this place if I just want hot pot. The interior felt comfy and nicely decorated. It's a good place to hang out with friends or have a date!

Yelp
Came here for dinner because I wanted comfort food! They actually have a lot of different options including hot pot, ramen, corn dogs, bubble tea and mochi donuts! When you walk in the first thing you see are the cute little mochi donuts. I didn't get a chance to try them this time around since I didn't have stomach real estate but I definitely will next time. We were seated very quickly. Service here is EFFICIENT! He was nice and really quick with taking our orders. The food came in no time and we got the check without having to sit there twiddling our thumbs. They also checked in regularly to see if we need anything else. I stuck with water but my boyfriend got a grapefruit green tea which was fruity and delicious. It was not super sweet and it had real grape fruit on the bottom! For appetizer we got spicy stinky tofu because I haven't had a good one in a while. The tofu had a strong flavor that wasn't overwhelming at all :) Loved it! We got the beef hot pot (no spice) and Sichuan spicy hot pot (medium). They are absolutely delicious and truly hit the spot for me. There's just so many ingredients in both items and they come with rice! I didn't really eat the rice since I was eyeing the potato noodles in the Sichuan hot pot. The beef, tripe, cabbage, fish ball, taro and everything in both dishes gave so much variety in terms of texture and taste. Even though my stomach was about to explode, I ordered the milk tea dessert which has candied peanuts, red bean and herbal jelly in a bowl. The texture of the herbal jelly was perfect! It was a little too sweet for me but regardless I finished it because it was delicious. 10/10 experience here. Definitely adding it to my places to go back to. Planning to bring my family when they visit too! :))

Yelp
It was my first time here! There are a great variety of soup bases. I went with #1 (beef) exactly the way it is. I didn't finish, so the next day's lunch was delicious!!! The restaurant is small but cozy. The staff is nice, but it was hard to get their attention. The dessert is a little sad, but that's just me.
google avatar

Yelp
Omg, the food was delicious!!! We came mostly for the kids as they were hungry, but none of the adults were. However, we all killed it! We ordered 3 different hot pots and a few desserts. This hot pot isn't the typical hot pot where you cook things yourself. Each pot has its set ingredients and you can add more Al la carte stuff if you wish. We tried the seafood, Tom yum, and the milk cheese. The milk cheese was by far my favorite. It was sooo flavorful. I can't stop thinking about it. Mango sago was a bit on the bland side, but I really enjoyed the milk tea herbel jelly one. Will surely be back when I'm back down to visit family.

Yelp
10 Start!! I loved this place!! The food it's delicious and the ambience calm even the chairs are comfortable.. service average.

Imara V.

Yelp
This place has a nice atmosphere and they seat you quickly, which is a plus. I won't say much about the service--there's definitely room for improvement. As for the food, good portion, flavor-wise I'd give it a solid 7 out of 10.
google avatar

Idsia R.

Yelp
First time here and was in the mood for Asian food and I was not disappointed, I ordered mango bubble tea, dumplings, and Takoyaki which I must say are the best ones I have tasted so far. Also ordered Tonkotsu Ramen and it was delicious. Service can be better but food made up for it. Vibe is quiet and dark but enjoyable. Will be back as they have many items on the menu O want to try.

Yelp
Wanted to love but I admit I have high hotpot standards. I'm not saying I wouldn't come back. I think this place would be good in a pinch for hot pot craving. For the price, it's still cheaper than trying to hotpot by yourself at home and getting all these ingredients. I ordered the kimchi pot. Tough decision because I didn't want to do any add ons and this was the combination that had the ingredients I wanted most. I let that lead my decision instead of the flavor. Overall, it was fine. Nice little burner to keep it boiling for a bit. Was a bit afraid of overcooking tbh. Wasn't an impressive amount of food, but probably enough for the average person. Did it taste super kimchi-y? Nope. Orders came out relatively quick. Everything is ready to eat. My initial thoughts were that the ingredients are definitely cooked separately and the soup (of choice) is added, because the ingredients have no flavor on its own. Luckily (?), there are different sauces at the table for you to dip. White rice is charged extra separately. Hate this. I could have easily eaten 2 bowls with the hotpot. Wish rice was just included.

Yelp
This is a very nice place to eat with some friends and family. Food: the portion was big enough for 2 people to share and the flavor was great. I also usually get some appetizers when I come here but i was on a time crunch and wanted to get something fast and good. Service: it was good. Very attentive and they were able to explain the dish nicely.

Yelp
Delicious food, highly recommend the Spicy Sichuan Hot Pot! The very spicy is a good level if you like spicy food, my bf would actually get it flaming hot next time. I got the curry hot pot with lamb med spice, I could have gone up a level. We had takoyaki and calamari, they all came out at the same time but that was good so I had something to eat while waiting for my soup to cool off a bit. The location is tucked into a shopping mall so if you're not looking for it and don't shop there, you'll miss it. It's a decent -sized spot and great for a date night activity. Service was attentive.

Yelp
When I'm craving hot pot but do not want to commit to AYCE, we go to Hi Pot. Hi pot has a variety of soups and also appertizers and sides in case you're dining with someone who doesn't want soup. My favorite here is the Tom yum or the kimchi base soup. I love that this comes out in an individual portion with a flame. If your flame goes out, don't worry they will relight it for you but personally, by that time I've already had my fill. The portion is enough for me to get full and take home leftovers.

Yelp
I've been coming here for years and have yet to have a bad experience. Been here with family and friends and each and every time it's PERFECT. They have added to their menu since they first opened a few years back, and while I haven't tried the new mochi donuts yet, I plan to eventually. Service is always top-notch, the place itself is not well lit but lit just enough for you to relax and enjoy your meal, nothing negative to say about this place, I recommend anyone craving some soup in any form go there, you get plenty to eat for the cost so you don't feel like you were cheated, everything is sized perfect. Again, highly recommended they will not disappoint.
google avatar

Emmi A.

Yelp
My mom is still raving about it and that says a lot. I came in not hungry at all and couldn't stop eating that's how good it was. It's not your typical ayce hot pot. The pot is already customized to perfection with all the accompaniments added to the pot so no cooking required here. Anything extra you would like to have can be ordered. The kids wanted more quail eggs so we did order a few more of those along with some udon and sweet potato noodles. The desserts were ok so next time, I would be ok filing myself up with hotpot and not need to have to leave room for dessert. Hot pot is perfection right now as the weather is a bit cooler. Will need to take mom one more time before she leaves this week.

Yelp
Nice choice for hot pot when you're not in the mood for all you can eat. The hot pot is single person pots and a decent serving that gets me full. Located in a busy plaza but with lots of parking so finding parking is never and issue. Inside can seat touch 30-40 people. I always order the beef hot pot but a couple times now the soup has been inconsistent in flavor. On normal days it's super flavorful but I have had a few times where it was basically water. They also have boba teas and desserts if you're looking for a treat afterwards. Servers are very attentive and the food comes out quick after ordering.
google avatar

Helen S.

Yelp
The soup is ok but not much favor that I am expecting. The ingredients inside the soup is not much except noodles. This is not a place for to go. You have to eat in so the soup is hot enough to cook everything.

Yelp
Located in Pembroke Pines off University just north of Pines in the Publix shopping plaza, this hot pot spot isn't like the previous hot pot places I've been to before. Unlike the other ones where you do the cooking and choosing and it's all you can eat, this restaurant serves premade hot pot combos, ramen, hot appetizers, desserts, and teas/boba. There is plenty of parking around since it's in a shopping plaza but it also may be a bit of a walk if the plaza is busy. Staff and food was quick but with that quickness got one of our items wrong. However also due to the quickness, the right thing was brought out pretty prompt. Kudos to the cool presentation of the pot, it really elevates the meal. However the sterno used to keep the pot hot can get quite high and a little concerning about you getting caught in it. They offer many premade pots with quite a large amount of items included in them which you can ask for items to be removed or added in. I asked for my pot without tripe but there was still a few pieces inside. I don't think any of us were wowed by our pots or the broths, my spicy certainly wasn't. It seems as though much of the stuff is probably premade in a generic broth and then assembled in the pot you order. With that, the items inside don't have a developed blended flavor. My daughter was super excited to finally find mango sago and while she enjoyed the flavors mostly, it didn't look like the photo on the menu and was more liquidy than she's seen it before. Overall there were probably too many misses for us to return foe hot pot but maybe if we were in the area, we'd give it another try for ramen and apps.
google avatar

Stefani S.

Yelp
Tried their popular menu "beef hot pot" and I LOVE it!! The broth is rich and it has a lot of toppings. There are spicy levels choices and I picked very spicy for my order. In my opinion, it's not too spicy and I can enjoy it perfectly in the rainy weather. I ordered through delivery service and they separate the broth and the meat which I think is smart. The portion is huge and can feed two people.
google avatar

Yelp
What?!?! Another great Asian spot find in FL! Not your typical hot pot, but it was by far more flavorful and superior than other spots I have found. Came with 5 adults and 4 kids. We ordered 3 different hot pots, as we weren't very hungry. It was the perfect amount! Each pot had different ingredients and was stuffed to the max. You can also customize it by adding additional ingredients on the side. Service - I think it is a family owned business as a younger boy took our order. Although a bit slower to bring out additional al la carte items, they were extremely nice. Space - decent size. I could definitely see this place filling up fast though. We didn't come during peak hours and it had a decent crowd. I will be back for sure! There's one near me, so I'm hoping it's just as good!
google avatar

Emily T.

Yelp
Wish they were a lot closer to me because I would be there all the time! I love Taiwanese hot pots. They differ than the mainstream AYCE ones because they carefully craft your pot. Their menu offers boba tea drinks and individual pot size boilings that will take place at your table. Things are ala carte price here and you're able to customize your pot. Still a pretty big serving, I was able to share my pot with my son. We loved it.
google avatar

Joella D.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite hot pot spots. Service is always great and the food is outstanding. Food comes out pretty quick which is great when you are hungry. Portions are large and there is something for everyone.
google avatar

Kalvin K.

Yelp
Hot pot has a special place in my heart. The personal Taiwanese hot pot style is perfect for lunch and the right portion for many people - all you can eat can result in unpleasantness after the fact. Service here was poor. Food quality was good so I would still come back.
google avatar

Yelp
Had hipot in Atlanta before and I loved it. Decided to check it out here, stinky tofu was good, the rest I didn't like it so much. I don't normally go for the cheese hotpot, but I tried it this time and it wasn't for me. I normally can finish it or take the rest of it home. But this time I didn't want to finish it at all. Hopefully I'll come back another time and try what I normally would get. Free parking lot in front. decent clean place.

Yelp
First time at hi-pot in pines and it was delicious! I wasn't sure which dish to order and the waiter was really helpful in explaining and sharing what some of the most ordered/ liked dishes were. The food was piping hot and the broth flavor was amazing. We also tried the shrimp shumai and corn dog, both very good!
google avatar

Yelp
If it wasn't for my need for hotpot out of the literal blue, I don't think I would have ever found this place. It showed up on my yelp page and I knew I had to try it because it was so close to where I was. It was easy to find and there is more than enough parking as well. Upon entering the entire interior is gorgeous and the lighting is very nice as well and not too bright or dim. We were quickly seated and our waitress came over to get our drink and food orders. We decided to try the garlic pork belly appetizer as well as the hotpots. Everything came at once which wasn't bad because the wait was less then ten minutes for our food. The presentation was absolutely stunning. The pot is brought to you on a slightly raised container and once it is placed in front of you they light the little dome in the bottom and real flames actually boil the broth right in front of you, truly making it a hotpot. The broth was flavorful and while everything cooked it brought more flavors into the broth as well. I got the curry flavor hot pot and it came with so many different things to remember but I do remember it came with pork slices, fish rolls, fish balls, corn and egg. That was just what I could remember! The staff was very friendly and now both times that I have come, I have left with extra food that I couldn't finish because of how much you get. It may look like a small pot but it is anything but! The prices are reasonable for the food and quality of it that you are getting as well. Overall, you must try this place at least once because once you do, you will become a repeat visitor just like me. I can not wait for the next time I can come back!

Yelp
Amazing food and atmosphere. My wife and I got pho and it was the best I have ever tried. Would definitely recommend coming here

Yelp
My second visit and never disappointed. An amazing place. The giant soup bowls (hot pots) were piping hot and as Spicy as you like. The service was friendly and efficient. We had left overs and still got full. I simply love this place.

Yelp
Have tried this location multiple times and it's been good every time. I've came here with a large family and kids and they've been very accommodating especially with the children. Just be careful with kids as they serve their pots on a stand with a burned flame at the bottom. I got the milk cheese hi pot and it's always full of meats and vegetables. I love all the variety of food in all of their soups. And the size of each soup is always large enough for me to save for another meal. The space is large and have plenty of booths and tables. It's located in the Publix plaza so there's plenty of parking near by.

Yelp
Wow and wow! That's all I can say! The food and new experience in cuisine was absolutely delicious. Service was courteous and efficient. But back to the food.. tasty, different and serving sizes are huge!! My brother and I were caught by surprise. We came to have sushi next door and they were closed due to vacation? I don't recall but it prompted us to give Hi Pot a shot and we're so glad we did!!! I had the Kimchi bowl and my brother had beef bowl. It comes with a side white rice. You can determine the heat level of spiciness. I chose mild and it had a slight kick.. just enough for me! The table comes with side sauces you can mix including a VERY Spicey hot sauce option. I highly recommend if you're in the area and you enjoy Asian cuisine. It will not dissapoint
google avatar

Yelp
So, y'all know I love Asian food .. this place was very yummy. It's not buffet style like many hot pot places ... it was order which type you like and they bring you a giant, bubbling bowl warmed with a personal flame underneath. My friend ordered the ramen and was very happy. I opted for-the beef pot - it came loaded with thin sliced beef, noodles, veggies, tofu & even some seafood. I added a side of lotus root - cuz why not ? They have many options for add ins, but you pay extra for each selection. The pots do come with a side of rice, so i actually took that home for latter with some of the left over meat & veggies. They also have original Taiwanese milk teas, which are great for pick up while running errands in the plaza. Overall: not as fancy as some of the buffet places , but!! Very tasty & good value for the money spent. I would definitely return.

Yelp
Soooooo good! My kind of hot pot. Quick service. A lot of hot pots to choose from. Choose the hot pot you want. Add or subtract anything. Choose the spice level and await the hot steamy goodness. What we ordered: Garlic Pork Belly - tasty Lamb Hot Pot without Duck Blood + instant Noodles. Medium Spice. - yum yum yum Beef Hot Pot + instant noodles. very Spicy. - my husband enjoyed his to the very last drop. I will definitely be coming back and I've already bragged and got Tagalongs for my next visit. I love it!!

Yelp
I was shocked at how cold the baby octopus was. Tasted like it was on ice or something. Definitely enjoyed the hot pot. We ordered Lamb Hot Pot & 5. Stinky Tofu Hot Pot. I did mild but if I were to come back I would get medium.
google avatar

Yelp
I'd been craving hot pot for the last few weeks, and am so glad I decided to check out Hi Pot! I went with the lamb hot pot at level 5 spice. This is one of the first restaurants where I felt like their spicy option actually lived up to the name - it was the perfect level of heat for me (although if I was ordering a more delicate protein like seafood, I'd probably go for a 4 instead). I loved the variety of ingredients in the dish too! I'm a pretty adventurous eater so I ordered as-is from the menu without removing anything, and am glad that I did. I'd never had duck blood before but actually really enjoyed the texture and taste with the super spicy broth. They absolutely do not skimp on ingredients here either, I think one pot could easily be split between two people. I also ordered an iced lychee green tea with cheese foam. This is one of my favorite tea orders, and while perhaps a bit sweet, Hi Pot's version did not disappoint. It had great lychee flavor and was the perfect compliment to my spicy entree. The food came out super quick, and the staff was really chill about letting my friend and I take our time and chat while enjoying our meal. I can't wait to come back and try some more of the unique options on their menu!
google avatar

Yelp
Food: Excellent. The broth was the best hot pot broth I've ever had. However, you don't get the fun all you can eat experience. You order from the menu and any extras are a la carte. Service: The kids were adorable but the woman was blunt, gruff, and not at all welcoming. Took off a star for that. Other than that, come for the food, but that's it.

Yelp
It's finally time to review as at this point I have been to this restaurant at least 10x's in the past year. First thing first, the hot pots are really good and they load them up with toppings and the broth is delicious and comforting. I'm originally from California and it reminds me a lot of another establishment there called Boiling Point. They have quite a few pots to choose from as well as ramen and appetizers but I've only come for the hot pot. It's always enough for me to take some home. However, more times than once I will have to remind them that the pot is missing a listed item and most the time they will bring it out. No apologies though. I would give this place 5 stars if it wasn't the service. Normally there's a husband and wife here along with their older son and younger son depending on when you come. The male server, possibly owner, his service is atrocious, rude, and combative. He will be on the phone through out my whole dining experience going so far as being on the phone while taking my order. When I ask for more water, extra napkins, it will take a couple times for him to bring it to me and he will act like I am bothering him/heavy sighing. The wife although her service isn't much better it suffices. The son is a better server, more attentive, and I can appreciate a child helping out his parents. If you are going to bring your young child to work with you, please do not seat customers next to his booth as the whole dinner my bf and I dined the only thing we kept hearing was his iPad playing videos and games on loud. Does not make for a great dining experience.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing food and service, specifically with their sanitation guidelines. Hand sanitizer is provided at the door and certain tables are blocked off to allow for social distancing. Throughout my lunch here, only two other parties arrived & several others picked up food, so we felt pretty safe. Our waiter consistently came over to fill up our waters, provide napkins, and pack our leftovers before we could even ask. He was extremely attentive and kept his mask on! As for the food, every pot is worth the $13.99+ price. You get a variety of proteins, vegetables, noodles, and rice with each pot. I got the kimchi stew, which stood out because of the dumplings and seafood (clams and shrimp). I absolutely love the warmth of the broth, especially since the weather is cooling down!

Yelp
Laid back vibes, service is amazing! Food came out HOT that's how you know it's good!

Yelp
Amazing family run spot and great prices. Hot pot perfect for a rainy day, or really any day. We got the kimchi dumpling hot pot which was delicious. This type of hot pot has all the fun with no heavy lifting. They bring it out with all goods, a couple bowls of rice, light the flame underneath and you're good to go!
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
The servers were nice and friendly. The restaurant was comfortable and quiet. The hotpot itself was delicious. Very different from other hotpot places since the plates already come prepared for you but it's a nice change. We tried the Thai Tom Yum bowl as well as the kimchi bowl and both were delicious. We also tried the Mango Sago and we over estimated it how good it was gonna be so it just ended up being okay, don't think will order again. But overall nice and delicious experience.

Places like this are hard to come by, most times only available in metropolitan cities but I was surprised to find them here. The concept is simple -- personal hot pot! I went with the "beef" flavor hotpot and they sure did not skimp out on beef. That pot was loaded with beef from top to bottom. The broth was delicious and paired well with the rice. I really enjoyed my lunch. The owner is also kind and friendly. I look forward to stopping here again in the near future.

Yelp
Owner is really nice and speaks so many languages it's amazing. Been here so many times and the service and food is always on point. Not only that, they keep adding menu items.
