"Open for: Happy hour, dinner, weekend brunchPrice range: $$A former international tax director for Indy-based Cummins, Nathan Huelsebusch relocated to Belgium for work with his wife Leah in 2008. Over the next three years, the couple grew to love Belgian beer. They brought the passion home, where they opened the first Taxman Brewing Gastropub in Bargersville in 2014, expanded to a second in Fortville in 2016, and opened a third in 2019 a few blocks from Lucas Oil Stadium. Executive chef Cole Padgett, who works out of the downtown location, uses Indiana-grown agriculture and meats for the menus at all three locations. Diners might find a gluten-free, vegetarian lasagne with butternut squash and spinach, savory brisket croquettes, and beer-battered Hoosier pork tenderloin, served with Belgian fries, naturally. The restaurant names its ales after tax terms (Deduction, Exemption), and the full bar provides cocktails like the Barrel-Aged Auditor (a citrusy, herbaceous take on an old fashioned with an aromatic finish) and the Lock & Key (a blend of warm, woodsy notes from vanilla vodka, simple syrup, and rosemary). Must-try dish: Pair any of the Belgian ales with the pork-fat-fried frites, and you’ll never need to visit Brussels." - Brian Garrido

Really neat local (Indiana) brewpub! Historic building was salvaged during a new development by moving it to this spot. Plenty of good beer - consistent with brewpub quality, with nuanced Belgian yeast, and happy hour and beer of the month specials. Hot, wholesome apps and mains - loved the mussels. And it was all a surprisingly good deal.

Stopped in a couple of weeks ago, wasn’t particularly busy but was a positive vibe nonetheless. Jenea (sp?) was as the server at the bar, she was pleasant and efficient and very well versed about the beer selections. I settled on the La Maison and was very favorably impressed, an easy drinking beer full of flavor. Ordered the French onion soup (Marvelous) and the mussels with frites. This entree was disappointing from the moment it arrived, I didn’t care for the large quantity of frites being dumped atop the mussels and the broth served with the mussels was just ok, the bread served with it was just ok as well. Dessert of crème brûlée cheesecake redeemed my experience. I also carried out canned beers for later. This establishment is worth a second visit.

Everything was great! Amazing service from Will! Very attentive and made sure to always to check in! Smash burger and pretzel were amazing, especially the beer mustard. Loved the outdoor seating area.

Google
Taxman Cityway is a great restaurant and tap room serving Taxman Belgian inspired beers. Beers are all above average, and the food varies from steak frites, to burgers, to seafood, to salad, and mussels. Food is consistently good. Service is good as well.

Google
In town for a concert and happened upon this spot close to our hotel and the venue. Food and beer flight were amazing, patio was spacious and gorgeous, and our server Will was attentive and brought a big smile to the table. The Sax Guy topped off the overall very enjoyable experience!

Google
Dinner was so great!! Eddie was our server and was phenomenal! He had great recommendations. We came for my sisters bachelorette party and had a big group. He handled a large group very very well. I got the shrimp tacos and they were perfection. I had a great mocktail and the rest of my group loved their cocktails and beers. I highly recommend Taxman Brewing Co. if you’re looking for a super cute, space, with delicious food, and great service, this is the place. They also had live music and outdoor sitting. Thanks so much!

Google
Eddie was a a fantastic server! Prompt, attentive, and gave great recommendations. The food was also amazing - great experience!

A little better than I was expecting, my wife picked Taxman for dinner during our anniversary long weekend. House made veggie burger was just ok, would be better if replaced with impossible or beyond as a future menu option. The pesto grilled cheese was great, nice flavor and went well with a side of Brussels sprouts. The beer was great, the bourbon barrel beers were our favorite! While we waited for our table we got 2 beers at the bar, when we got to our table the server automatically added them to our bill even though we already paid at the bar. Keep an eye on your bill for this mistake or you’ll be double charged!! Our server wasn’t very good and the reason for the two less stars under service. Atmosphere was good and ended up being an enjoyable dinner / night out. *flourless chocolate cake was really good as a dessert option. Not pictured because it didn’t last long between the two of us.

Yelp
I love taxman for their beer but I had to try these brussel sprouts when I saw my friend order them. They were so good! Great starter to share with friends. Vibes outside in the summer are immaculate.

Yelp
Menu is unique... trendy... Pepsi products... took an hour for food... kids menu... chicken was absolutely burnt. Our server was very nice and attentive. Ordered the ham and cheese melt. Ordered it thinking it was a sandwich I would hold in my hands... not at all, it was inside out. Had to eat it with a knife and fork. Did I mention it took forever Also, the water they serve tastes like it came from a hose. It was served fancy and it was luke warm. I was in a conundrum because I had to choose from warm hose water and Diet Pepsi. Soda was served in tiny glasses that you get in Vegas for free while spinning the penny slots. It's trendy, I asked for mayo and got charged $1 for "aioli". Again, the server was great. All the staff was friendly.

Yelp
Before coming to Taxman, I had heard very mixed reviews. Some people loved it and some people said it was "so-so." I think after my first experience here, I'm leaning more toward "so-so" Firstly, I have to note the service was very slow. We got there pretty early (around 4:30 or 5) so it wasn't very busy, yet somehow we still waited ages for our drinks and our orders to be taken. The waitress was very nice once she got to us, but it really made no sense because there were barely any other people in her section. She also barely checked on us throughout the time we spent there. Some of the food was really good but some of it very mid. To start, the nachos were not great. There was barely any cheese/toppings. I think we also got the loaded fries and they were okay but lacked enough toppings as well. The Brussel sprouts had goat cheese on them, which I'm not the biggest fan of, but otherwise they were good. My pork tenderloin was underwhelming and had a very thick breading. The highlights of the meal were probably the chicken and waffles and the carne asada. Those were both very good! The drinks we ordered were also tasty when we finally got them. Overall, I'd probably try this place again if I were to be invited but I don't think I'll ever choose it myself.

Emily M.

Yelp
Great service and always good food. I got the French onion soup and the Brussels sprouts (always delicious).

Haleigh P.

Yelp
Great food and they have an outdoor patio that is good size. They offer brunch on the weekend! Popped in before a Fever game. Pictures of the happy hour and the Frisco Melt! FYI VEGETARIANS/ VEGANS!!! The fries are fried in an animal fat/oil (as 2 of the people I went with are vegetarians and they were told this)

Katie E.

Yelp
I came here before the Taylor Swift concert since it was close to Lucas Oil Stadium. They had themed cocktails for the event and mine was really good! I ordered the nachos off the happy hour menu and it was the perfect portion for one person. Their happy hour prices were very reasonable. Service was a bit on the slower side, but it was to be expected with the crowd of people for the concert.

Valerie D.

Yelp
Food was horrible! Waygu meatballs were burnt, brisket/potato dish was cold and had to ask 2 different servers for syrup which never came for the chicken n waffles....food lacks flavor n seasoning. Food took forever to come...wont be back

Rebecca P.

Yelp
Right downtown Indianapolis underneath the railroad tracks but close enough to walk to both Colts or Pacers games, this upscale Belgian-inspired brewpub can get really packed so try to set a reservation or get there early! During sports seasons they stream sports at the bar so it can get very loud and lively in there! It echos too. Service is average but as I mentioned it can get busy and staff seems spread thin. Food is unique for the Midwest and high quality ingredients!! Their chicken and waffles was honestly perfectly crispy. The chicken sandwich was average but was hoping for a spicy sauce and high quality pickles but the toppings are mostly all coleslaw. Tons of awesome brown ales, Belgian wheats, and super flavorful stouts all brewed right in house. They have two floors and an outdoor patio area with a lot of seating. Great for a classy work dinner or guys night.. you can even rent the top bar for a work party or event!

Saba K.

Yelp
Food is always good here, never had a bad experience. They had live music yesterday which may have been better with a different artist? The service is always nice here though a little slow, but worth it. Bathrooms could have been cleaner. Plenty of seating inside and out. Drinks were made well! Great brunch option.

Yelp
Brisket croquettes were pretty good. Really liked the pretzel and beer cheese. Ambiance was nice.

Alanie N.

Yelp
I should start off by saying I was in a pretty decent sized group and I always feel like that factors into the type of experience I have. I never expect much with a group our size, but our waitress and seriously on it! We never had empty drinks and she was so funny and personable. So she was definitely one of the best parts of the experience. Now for the food and drinks, I got a margarita and it was okay, it honestly just tasted like sour mix and tequila, which personally isn't my favorite. But everyone else seemed to enjoy their cocktails so I may just be picky! For appetizers we got the deviled eggs and the pretzel, the pretzel was okay, it was a typically brewery pretzel so I couldn't complain there. The biggest issues came with the orders, now I cannot stress enough how amazing our waitress was, everything came out hot and it came out correct. It just was very... meh. When asking around the table how everyone's food was, it was a resounding "okay", most people left with a decent amount of food left. There isn't one specific thing I can't point to that I was like "this is the issue to be fixed" it just wasn't super flavorful food IMO.

Yelp
I visited several breweries in the area and this was one of my favorites. There are a lot of choices of beer on tap and they do flights. The specialize in Belgian brews but there is something for everyone. My favorites of the ones I sampled are the La Maison farmhouse ale and the Double DIPA. They are also a gastropub and as such I was anticipating a delicious burger and it was indeed a standout. I ordered the Bleu Flame, with blue cheese, onion rings and BBQ sauce. I swapped out fries for a side salad, but their fries looked tasty. Bonus points for the nifty logo!

Yelp
I really enjoyed my visit to Taxman CityWay. The space is surprisingly large. It seems like a great spot to visit before heading to events at the Fieldhouse or the Stadium. If I had to guess, I'd say it's also a great spot for game-day viewing. The food was a delightful surprise. I don't think I tried anything that I didn't enjoy. The signature cocktails were well balanced and delightful, as well. If you're in the mood for good food, classic industrial design, and want to be close to the action on game day, I definitely recommend giving Taxman CityWay a try.

Whitney W.

Yelp
Love enjoying the Taxman brew. Always great suggestions. We had the sour and a lager that were seasonal. Great suggestions and plenty to taste and try! The meal was consistently good and service was great with plenty of time to linger from the appetizer to the dessert. Love this location and the laid back atmosphere. The dining room was spacious, but warm, cozy, and clean. I also like sitting in the bar area when it's too cold to be outside.

Kelly G.

Yelp
I managed to score a last minute reservation for Valentine's Day here. It's slightly hidden, but don't let that scare you. We were totally undecided on food choices. Everything that came out looked great. I opted for a boring choice of nachos, but wasn't disappointed. My partner got the pork chop and a side of brussel sprouts. Both options worth a return back. I got my standard moscow mule and must admit, it was entirely too sweet. Regardless, I'll be back to sample other items on the menu.

Anita M.

Yelp
I'm so sad I have no pics from this meal but it was hands down the best one we had in Indianapolis over the course of 2 days. First of all, the vibes were super down to earth and chill! We sat on their patio and enjoyed the sun! The area was filled with dogs and kids (so parents, it's great for either type of child- fur or human!). As much as I enjoy beers, I was brew'd out by this point in our trip. I EXTREMELY enjoyed the glass of Joseph Drouhin Chardonnay. If you're like me, I'm not a fan of the typical chardonnays that have the buttery texture and oaky flavor. This was so perfectly balanced! It was truly lovely! The rest of the group got beers and enjoyed all that they tried. For food, I got the Bistro Burger with the smash patties. Those and the fries were both really really delicious! The cool thing about their burgers is that you can get any of them with whichever patty style you prefer. They have wagyu, smash patties, turkey burgers, veggie burgers, etc. We had a vegetarian in our group and she loved the amount of options she had! Plus our server was extra considerate and told her about how the fries are cooked that makes them not fully vegetarian. Nothing sus!! I just can't remember if it's a lard based thing or a same pan type thing. I cannot wait to make this my first stop the next time I'm in Indy!

Yelp
I went to brunch at Taxman CityWay a few weeks ago and I wasn't the biggest fan. I ordered the Chorizo Skillet because it sounded interesting but I didn't end up enjoying it. The flavors were very one-note and there really wasn't any texture so it was like eating a bowl of soft meat and potatoes. I did steal some fries from my friend's plate and they were really really good. Our server was nice but wasn't around very much so we didn't end up getting any menu recommendations from him.

Dipali P.

Yelp
Came here with a friend to grab a quick bite and was pleasantly surprised. The minute we walked in we were greeted and seated. Our waiter was extremely attentive and provided suggestions on what he liked from the menu. I settled on the salmon sandwich and took in the rustic ambiance of the place while I waited. I appreciated that there was plenty of seating outside and that there is a patio for outside seating as well. Now let's get to the food, the sandwich was pretty good and the garlic aioli that came with it added the extra kick that it needed. Overall great ambiance, service, and food. Will definitely be back during the summertime to enjoy a drink on the patio while listening to live music!

Joshua M.

Yelp
This is a nice city gastropub type restaurant in a new area of downtown Indy. My group and I were here on a Wednesday night and there was live music in the outdoor seating area. I got the buffalo chicken sandwich with fries and curry ketchup. To drink I tried the Peach Pit off the cocktail menu. The drink was really great. The meal was good but it wasn't the greatest thing I've ever tried. The waiter was super personable and nice but not the speediest. That could have just been because he was overly busy.

Jeffery L.

Yelp
I'm surprised this spot doesn't have better reviews. I was I. Town for a few days for work and tried a handful of breweries. This was one of my favorites and definitely had the best food of any I tried. I started with a beer flight and it showed me what I really liked from their offerings. It was one of the IPAs, which is not surprising as I am a hophead. Ordered the steak sliders off the app menu. They were excellent. Surprisingly mouse for a steak slider. Would absolutely order them again. The bartenders were friendly, attentive and provided great information when asked. I never waited for anything long. They added to the fun vibe of the place on a busy night.

Hannah E.

Yelp
We had Taxman this evening, and it was so good! Everything we got was perfect. When we got there, we were greeted by the manager, who seemed really friendly and accommodating, allowing us to pick our table either inside or outside. We did make a reservation, although the restaurant was not busy. He recommended we always do because of how busy they could possibly get. Our server was Morgan, and she was wonderful. Friendly, and was training her trainee well. For our appetizers, we started with the pretzel which was AMAZING. Perfectly cooked and so good! We are big pretzel fanatics and will definitely come back when we get that craving. For our second appetizer, we tried the deviled eggs which were a nice twist from the normal ones. The candied bacon mixed with the peppadew relish was so yum! I did not get a picture, because we devoured. Finally, I got the Caesar salad for dinner. I removed the anchovies, which was a good choice because their dressing was very anchovy-ish. The salad was fresh, cold, and so refreshing! I also tried the Mac & Cheese side (our favorite). It was creamy and the pasta was cooked well. Finally, I got a side of the fries, and the curry ketchup was A-MAZ-ING! I need to learn how to make that for home! All in all, it was a great experience and the ambiance was very dress-casual, with fine-dining touches, but not too uppity. Our total bill with two meals, two appetizers, two extra sides, a flight of beer and two glasses of wine was only $103. Very reasonable. We will be back!

Kassandra M.

Yelp
I was in town spending time with my best friend when we came in to Taxman for dinner Wednesday night! We made a reservation as it was Valentine's Day but there was plenty of space so I don't think a reservation is necessary. While neither of us tried any of their beer, I did get a virgin mule and it was really good! For food we had the brussel sprout appetizer, delicious, and we both ordered the salmon knife and fork. The salmon was really good but the vegetables/sides were definitely average. Overall it was a cool spot in a good location and our waitress was wonderful. I'd recommend it and I'd probably come back!

Kristina L.

Yelp
This restaurant has a really cool vibe. My husband raved about their burgers and they lived up to the hype. We had 1 cheese burger and the smoked Gouda burger that were really good and fries. My husband had the cheeseburger before and got it with pork belly. Unfortunately when we went this time pork belly was no longer on their menu. Hence minus one star. Why do restaurants always get rid of a great thing? The smoked Gouda burger was delicious! The jam was excellent. Would definitely recommend this sandwich.

Natalie G.

Yelp
Taxman is a great brewery and restaurant in the CityWay district downtown. It is right next to the Pacers stadium and perfect for pre-game or pre-concert dinner. I highly recommend their beer flights to try out different varieties. I am a big fan of their sour flight. The beers are always on rotation. I LOVE sitting outside on their patio. They also have live music on some nights. It's such a vibe. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The food is delicious!!!!! The burgers are great and I also recommend the mussels. Additionally, they have a party room upstairs for large groups.

Theresa G.

Yelp
We've been here a few times and it's decent. The atmosphere is great, as is the service. The food is average.

Emm M.

Yelp
Taxman is insanely good. Likely the best beer brewed in Indy. And their food is amazing too. I tried a couple of beers and loved them both. They specialize in Belgian beer, but they have a great variety. You really can't go wrong with any of their beers, they are all good. The food went INSANELY hard for a brewery. They have a lot of unique stuff on their menu. I got that fried catfish sandwich with fries, and it was amazing. The fries were perfect and the catfish was big, meaty, seasoned, and fried to perfection. The service was great. It's got a pretty upscale vibe for a brewery too! My ONLY problem is that it's hard to see both TVs from the bar, so don't come here to watch multiple games. Very easy to bike or walk to from anywhere near downtown. It's somewhat close to a redline stop, too. It's in a great location. Definitely try Taxman. Great beer, great food.

Gaby U.

Yelp
TLDR: good for craft beers, food is fine but you'll probably wait longer than you should, service is decent and before events it'll likely be crowded. Made a reservation ahead of the Morgan Wallen concert at Lucas Oil on Friday night, and it was definitely buzzing with a pre-show crowd. The space is nice and very brewpub vibes. They sat us in the bar area which was fine. Our server came after a little wait and took our drink order. We also put in an order of muscles. The beers were good, I ordered a seasonal flight and enjoyed the options and was able to give my husband a refill of his vanilla / coffee beer (can't recall the name). We eventually put our dinner order in, and we were still waiting for our muscles appetizer at this point...45 minutes later which was disappointing as we were hungry. We also threw in a pretzel appetizer hoping that would come out quickly. Once the muscles came, they looked pretty good though putting the fries in / on the dish was not well thought out because who likes soggy drowning fries? The bread that came with it was also pretty sad looking, like they cut a 4" sub baguette in half. Our waiter offered more bread but naturally that never showed up and they took our muscles bowl away. The pretzel came with dinner which only three of us got at the same time. My husband's order of salmon was MIA. Luckily he could eat the pretzel and I shared my chicken sandwich and fries with him while he waited, eventually getting his order after we had devoured my chicken sandwich. Mind you, at this point most of the restaurant had cleared out so they weren't packed. The sandwich presentations were good but honestly the flavor was lacking IMO- I ordered the smoked gouda and the cheese took over for any bacon, red onion jam or aioli that was on it. Fries were the same from the muscles appetizer but at least these were hot and crispy. I appreciate the sauce selection but whatever you do, DO NOT get the garlic aioli. I'm not sure if whoever made this in the kitchen has ever tasted garlic aioli but this was a glob of yellow tinted flavorless mayo that was so thick it didn't even come out of the container. Please take this off the menu or fix it, and certainly don't recommend it. Overall come for the beers and the atmosphere. I wouldn't run back to eat here.

Dustin H.

Yelp
Any true Midwesterner better be frequenting Taxman. Deliciously crafted brews, food that fills your belly and delights your taste buds. It's our family dinner spot, date night spot, "I was disappointed in our other restaurant choice and want some comfort food," spot. Never change, Taxman.

Ashley M.

Yelp
Taxman does a lot of things right, but their fries are at the top of the list hands down. They're amazing on their own, but I'm a sauce girl, so I love that they offer several dipping sauces - the aioli and the spicy "fancy sauce" being two of my favorites. As always, the burgers were killer, but the mussels could've used more flavor. It's a perfect place to stop before heading to either Gainbridge or Lucas Oil, both within walking distance.

Missi R.

Yelp
My first visit to this location. A friend and I had dinner here after a Colt's game. I was surprised that we were seated immediately, as I had expected a wait. They actually weren't very busy, even though it was a beautiful day and downtown was very busy after a Colt's home game They were out of the beer that we both wanted to order. We both ordered the walleye sandwich, which was very good, except that there was only a tiny amount of tartar sauce on the sandwich, so small that we had to search to even see it. We both requested some additional tarter sauce and we were charged for extra tartar sauce times 2, which I thought was unnecessary since the sandwiches were served with barely any. The fries were amazing! Cooked just right, crispy on the outside and soft inside. We shared a side of Brussels with spiced pecans, and they were excellent. Service was just ok, our drink glasses sat empty for some time before we saw our server and asked for more. This is a beautiful building and a great location. Nice atmosphere and good food.

Sheree W.

Yelp
I've tried this place a couple times before writing my review. I think this location is fine. Not overly amazing but not terrible either. I think the thing that makes this place good is the location. It's right smack down in the middle of downtown and they have really nice outdoor seating. Nice people watching spot. I think many people come here before events at Gainbridge because it's literally next door. As I said the food is fine no complaints just not outstanding which is why it gets 3 stars.

John L.

Yelp
I searched for local breweries from our hotel and was delighted to see a gastropub within walking distance, that specializes in Belgian style beers and has some history since this location is housed in a renovated livery building from the 1850s. Our group stopped in on a frigid Friday night for dinner. The staff was very friendly and seated us right away. The inside of the building was nicely renovated and featured high ceilings with an exposed wooden A frame roof, brick walls and support beams. The seating types and arrangements lent itself well to just about every diner. Besides our group with kids there were friends hanging out, co-workers meeting up after work, couples on a date, sports fans watching Indiana Hoosiers hoops on their TV's and families. They had around 20 in-house beers on tap. After sampling a few pints and taking the feedback from friends who ordered flights I would say their beers are average to above average. I had the Deduction Dubbel style, Qualified Belgian Quad and Cold Progression IPA. They were all true to their style and well made. Food wise a friend and I split some pretzel bites with their Wit-held beer cheese and Qualified mustard, smoked wings and Barbacoa Tacos - Fischer farms brisket, cotija, red onion, candied jalapeno pico, cilantro on flour tortillas. Everything was fresh and delicious. They also offer many of their brews in cans to go at great prices. It was nice to share some local Indy brews with friends when I got back home. I couldn't find a flaw in this location for Taxman. It was a great visit and I would return.

Yelp
Stopped here while looking for a bite to eat before the state finals girls bb game. We had never been but ended up pleasantly surprised. Husband had the smashburger and fries which he said was good. I had the brisket melt which was good, tender brisket on a alot of French roll. The fries are twice fried in pork lard and I don't eat pork so I got Mac n cheese as a side. It was extremely cheese with thick pasta. Unfortunately I did not get to try any of the craft beer but definitely would like to come back for that. The dinning area is a very nice size, open area. There are tvs in the dinning area and in the bar area. Very unique place

Satoya B.

Yelp
We went for a girls night out to the pink concert. It was fairly busy but not terribly busy. The food there was pretty decent but the service really sucked so bad. Our waiter never came to our table. We told him we were on a time frame. When it came time to pay for checks he asked how should it be split we told him separately and his response was seriously and scoffed. We thought that was very rude he then disappeared for a while and when he came back he started helping another table. Maybe if we go back we won't get the horrible waiter that we had. I was so excited to go to this place but the waiter ruined my experience.

Harry P.

Yelp
What a fantastic brewery. I didn't realize when I came to Indy they were here, and was stoked to try it! Their barrel aged beers are some of the best balanced BA beers I have ever had and you can never go wrong with their Belgians! The staff is fantastic, the messed up an order (we never actually complained), still served us the entree for free, gave us a free beer and a free after dinner connection after that our server created himself ! Now let me start by saying I had no expectations about the food, but the. We met V (executive chef). Whatever special he has when you go, get it, you won't be disappointed. Each night he came out and talked to us about the food, a true culinary genius. Growing up on the border of NYC, I have had some of the best steakhouses in the world, his steak rivals them all. The second night back he threw complete curveball with homemade sweet potato gnocchi in a delicate sun dried tomato pesto sauce. V is a true delight and an upcoming chef that should be highlighted somewhere. I cannot say enough about how you should come here!

Alyssa I.

Yelp
Taxman never disappoints! There are deals Monday through Friday and on Mondays burgers are only $12 that includes fries. We also got a side of brussels sprouts for six dollars which were very well cooked with honey and goat cheese. The seared salmon was delicious with a crispy top and balsamic glaze. They are known for their beer but the Moscow mules are also very good. Very nice waiter and staff. The architecture is also very well done and there is good decor!

TB B.

Yelp
My husband and I stopped in for a drink, the place was super busy and we didn't have reservations so we couldn't sit outside. We did however sit up at the bar. We didn't try the food but the beer was good! The place had a comfortable atmosphere, the bartenders didn't stop moving and were really nice

Drew K.

Yelp
Updating a prior review that I previously had listed Taxman as a two star: Taxman has figured out the logistics and service since they first opened, and their food and beer is still the same high quality that it was before. While I think it's a bit on the pricey side for what you get, which is why I go 4 stars instead of 5, it definitely is worth the stop in.

Caroline Z.

Yelp
If you're looking for a great place to enjoy a drink outdoors without all the noise and crowds of Mass Ave, look no further. The outdoor patio was beautiful and was covered enough to sit outside even during the rain. I ordered a beer flight, and our waiter was very helpful with choosing beers that would pair well with each other. I got quite the variety and really enjoyed them all. They had some delicious summer cocktails of beer isn't your thing - that was great since not everyone in our group enjoys beer. We also ordered the spicy feta dip, which was enough for 2 people. I will definitely be going back again this summer and fall!

Yelp
The food was fantastic! I had the fried chicken sandwich which was delicious and juicy and my fiancé enjoyed his classic burger. We also got the loaded frites and those were so good as well. The service was great and the overall vibe of the restaurant was smooth for a Thursday evening. Would definitely visit again

Yelp
We've been huge fans of their beer (Gold Standard!) and food for years... but, we recently discovered their Sunday Brunch and I can honestly say it's one of the best breakfasts in the city. Do yourself a favor and stop by on a Sunday morning, you won't regret it!!!

Yelp
The environment felt more upscale than I expected upon entering! The inside of the restaurant is beautiful. We had no problem walking in without reservations on a Friday night - and were pleasantly surprised by the wonderful live music featured. The volume was little loud from where we were sitting, so I had trouble hearing our waitress and others at the table on several occasions. The menu has standard brewery options in addition to nicer main courses like crispy salmon, roasted pork, or chicken and waffles. I appreciate the little flair they added to the dishes and the fresh ingredients they incorporate. The Bistro Burger and Grilled Chicken Mac & Cheese were both good, but a little overpriced based on other comparable options in the city. The pretzel bites were delicious and I would definitely go again for appetizers and their signature beers!

Yelp
My wife and I came on a date night and this place is a great spot for a night cap while listening to life music! I had their equivalent to an old fashioned which was so delicious I ordered 2! My wife had a cider and we shared one of their pretzels which was amazing! Service was knowledgeable and quick! I would recommend without hesitation - the only reason I give a 4 out of 5 has nothing to do with the restaurant - but there's a train the runs right above the location and when it comes in the brakes squeal like a thousand shrieking toddlers throwing a fit! Holy cow is it rough! The restaurant, drinks, food, and wait staff are well worth the inconvenience though!

Yelp
Thanks Taxman for a great evening! Celebrating a wonderful evening after rehearsal! A large wedding celebration of two families coming together. Staff was exemplary! Worked wonderfully together to seamless transition through the stages of a very tasty meal. Visited another location a few years back. Again had a great experience. Thank you to the groom's family and wow thank you to the staff for a top notch meal.

Yelp
I got turned on to Taxman beer a few years ago and I seriously can't believe I had been ok drinking light beers. They're a dessert or a meal all on their own. I however did enjoy my beer calories along with a meal. I got the smash burger and it was ok same for the fries. Definitely have had better. Next time I'll try something different. The holiday beer I got was the 401 Cake and it was sweeter than I thought it would be but either way still great. I didn't realize that they did flights and I would've done that instead of just the one so I could try a variety but my server didn't tell me and I must've missed it on the menu, major bummer. And I knew I shouldn't have gotten the calamari but I did and it was disappointing. No flavor unless I drenched it in the sauce. Save your calories for the beers :) I also just realized that there is a parking lot right next to Taxman and it's super simple to pay via app or there is street parking.

Yelp
Really enjoyed this spot right in the middle of Indy! My son, Mum, friend and I went in and got some beers and some food and were very happy that we did! MY own pitfall is I wish they did a couple of lagers (that's just the englishman in me though) their beer is very good, and the food was fantastic

Yelp
We came here for Mother's day dinner as I really didn't want to deal with a stuffy fancy restaurant. I had spent the entire weekend gardening and just wanted to put on my fat pants and enjoy a good burger because it had been ages since I had one. We took our little ones. The only negative I have is that there was a loud obnoxious drunk woman outside, on a Sunday afternoon cussing and being super loud. I get it, it's a brewery, but it's Sunday and mother's day. The outdoor area is where we really wanted to sit and there were plenty of families outside with small kids. She was so obnoxious that we changed our minds and ask to be re-sat inside. I didn't want my three year old to repeat the things coming out of her mouth. When we left she was still there. I just wish more restaurants would have the guts to ask people to leave if they're causing a scene and being belligerant, especially on a holiday when the clientele is going to be more families with kids than half drunk adults. Now the good, seriously, this was the best burger of my life. I had the frisco melt burger. BUGERGASM is the only word I can think of to describe it. It was amazing and their fries are so good too. We also had the pretzel with beer cheese and it was so good we wish we would've ordered two of them. I had the raspberry lemonade hard cider, delicious and refreshing. Also, I'd like to apologize to the staff as my kid was being a pain in the butt, but I appreciate the staff being patient with us and getting our daughters food out fast so she would finally sit down and chill out. She was being a real turd that day. We will definitely go back for a date night and enjoy the Bargersville location as well! The building is really cool and the restrooms have a changing table, which this mama really appreciates. Thank you for a lovely mother's day meal!

Yelp
I went to a group event at Taxman and really liked it. The food was really good and the service was excellent. The bartenders worked really fast to serve us. We spent most of our time upstairs where there is a private room for about 40 of us. It was perfect. I didn't even know this place existed, but now I definitely want to go back!

Yelp
Sat outside on the patio - great ambiance, inside looked nice from quick glance around as well. The beer flight was good - gold standard my favorite. The smash burger was delicious, frites hand cut (wish a little more crispy, but that's nit-picky). Service quick and attentive! Definitely recommend!
