***This review is based solely on the service and attitudes of the Doraville location.***
Tea Top is a boba tea shop located in the Peachtree Pavilion in Doraville (same shopping center as the Doraville Hmart, Miss Gogi, Kura Sushi and a variety of other great spots). While the parking lot is huge, it can be tough to find a parking spot on the weekends/evenings, so plan to arrive a little early just in case. It's located to the left of Hmart (if facing it) tucked in a tiny shop that currently does not have any room inside to do more than place and pick up your order. They allow you to order in person, online and over the phone.
I have been to this location plenty of times previously without any issues until this last visit. I can understand that when you are super busy, yes service will decline, but that does not mean you can or should be rude! Your customers are your lifeblood and should be treated with at least a little common decency I would think.
We used the online portal to order ahead, assuming it would speed up the process of waiting. It said you place your order, get an email confirming your order was received and then 10-25 minutes later would receive a text that your order was ready.
Unfortunately, while the idea is great in concept, it was never actually applied. We placed our orders online and waited to receive the email confirming receipt of our drink orders. And then we waited some more. After the first 20 minutes, we asked a cashier if they were taking online orders or if we should just redo our orders in person. He told us to not place an in person order and wait and we should get an email saying our order was being processed then.
So we waited ANOTHER 20 minutes and again went in to inquire about our orders and were told yes, they were about to be processed and it would be another 20 minutes and our drinks would be ready. By that point, we were already late for other appointments and told them to cancel our orders. They said okay, orders canceled, sorry about the long wait.
Surprise, surprise, literally five minutes after leaving, each of us received a text saying our drinks were ready. We ignored this since, 1). we were already on the interstate and, 2). we had canceled our orders before leaving. I assumed that it just meant they canceled the order on their end and since it was "closed out" it sent the text as final confirmation of "closing" that order.
The real kicker is that TWO HOURS LATER I got a call from an unknown number and upon answering it was Tea Top asking if I was ever going to show up to pick up my drinks?? Drinks that I assumed had been sitting there for two hours?? I told the girl that no, I was not coming by because I had canceled my order since I was late for an appointment. She muttered something under her breath and hung up on me mid-word. There are a couple problems here. First, if you call someone to see if they are still coming to pick up their order, wouldn't you call at the point when they are 15 minutes late? In hospitality, you assume no shows after 15 minutes, so.... Second, if you call someone about their order, even if they are a no show, do not be rude! It reflects poorly not on you, but instead your place of employment since you represent them.
I will not be returning to this location for a while since there are plenty of other boba tea places around where they greet you with a smile and polite manners!
