Houston’s 12 Best Bubble Tea Shops | Eater Houston

"Freshly brewed and organic teas await at this Hawaii export, which boasts that it never uses powdered mixes seen in many cheap boba shops. Here, a truly extensive list of drink options is on offer, ranging from matcha lattes to strawberry-passionfruit green tea. Keep it classic with a jasmine milk tea filled with chewy tapioca pearls, or consider a Thai tea frappe loaded with egg pudding." - Amy McCarthy

Google
Vietnamese coffee is a must try here! Don’t forget to add boba. Pink dragon hibiscus is extremely refreshing. Service is friendly and fast.

Google
First time going to Teapresso Bar! Pak was kind and welcoming. I got the Tropic Osmathus Tea with tapioca. 25% sugar. It was great! Getting the lower sugar amount allows the tea flavor to exist in the drink. Highly recommend if you can handle the tea bitterness. Overall very quality establishment. Although it’s a franchise, Pak (and whoever else that works there) keeps it looking great. Espresso machines look well maintained and interior design is modern and sleek.

I LOOOVE this place! I’ve been inside but often place orders for pick-up. They have the best coffee in town! It’s strong, aromatic, and flavorful. My usual is the iced vanilla latte and it’s always so good and consistent. I recommend it to all my coffee-loving friends. The service is great too; friendly workers are always present.

I went in for the first time because I seen the traffic in the place and boy was I impressed I got the cookies and cream flavor with Boba and I was blown away. The owner is a true expert in taste on what to recommend to customers and it was awesome. He just made me a customer for life. Tell em PODGOD sent ya cause its gooooooooood!

Google
Nice costumer service, nice place , clean and cute but the drink? Not so much. I got a teapresso milk tea (seal) and it tastes like watered down grass drink. I have ordered a similar one from other locations and it was good so I’m not sure what was the big difference with this spot but I would not recommend their drink

Google
The owners and staff are very friendly and attentive. They make the drinks pretty quick too, usually just a couple minutes. The ingredients are fresh and the flavors are great. My go to is the Horchata Latte (secret menu) and my gf usually gets the strawberry milk tea or taro. She loves the strawberry one because of how fresh it is and doesn't taste artificial unlike other boba places. Highly recommend if you're in the downtown/east end area. Even if you're not, make your way down there (I live in Humble). That just goes to show how good they are that I don't mind driving there.

Google
Great spot for Hawaiian style boba tea. The drinks are refreshing / reasonably priced, and parking is super easy. They almost always have Pudgy cookies, which are my favorite in Houston, and cool snacks you can't grab anywhere else. Been meaning to try their desserts. One of my favorite spots and I love that it's in 2nd ward.

Yelp
Nice clean decorated place. Friendly staff. Plenty of parking out front. Located next to Roostar and nothing bundt cake. I ordered a peach cantaloupe green tea with mango bursting bubbles, it was very refreshing. Would definitely come back and try other drinks.

Yelp
Located in EaDo next to Roostar and the Rub. Plenty of parking up front. I've been to the former Teapresso spot in the Heights so it was interesting to see another location here in the revamped east end area. Unfortunately, Teapresso still feels a bit behind the boba pack in terms of quality of the milk tea and the boba texture. I got the strawberry milk tea and it was as par as you can get. The boba was also quite mushy and lacked Q. Service was great but their menu is huge but lacks some finesse. It's good to have a boba spot for the area, but compared to other spots in the general region, the milk tea is a miss for me.

Yelp
Nut allergy friendly! Overall, a reasonable boba option in the area. I sampled their brown sugar milk tea at 50% sweetness and thought it was too sweet. The Teaspresso classic at 50% sweetness was okay. I'd definitely drop to 25%. Boba texture was firmer than I prefer, but some others liked it.

Yelp
After getting brunch with my friend, we decided to try teapresso bad since it was in the area. I got their teapresso milk tea. There was a huge group in front of us so we had to wait a little bit for our drinks. When I got my drink, it was unsweetened. Luckily, they offered to remake my drink. It was definitely much better but I think this drink in general isn't my kind of taste. They are relatively new though so I understand the complications

Yelp
So if you come down to Teapresso Be careful you don't make a messo Or like Monica Lewinsky You can get a bit kinky And show up with cum stains on your dresso. Definitely one of the 5 best boba shops in Houston. Could not recommend it more highly. Very interesting and different bubble tea shop, making some of the strongest and best-tasting milk teas I've ever had. Their fruit drinks are fantastic too. Some of the loveliest service too, I like their owners, very friendly, very helpful, but the real stars of the show are the girls (and boy) that work here, they're angels, they're so friendly and make such good drinks. Sometimes gets busy, especially during hat meetings, and the decor is lovely, and feels bright and welcoming. Lots of games to play. This is Boba from Hawaii apparently, who knew it was a thing. Several locations in Honolulu. New location has opened up in Sugar Land, which is not even close to the level of this one in my opinion. We tried the other version of this (TeaLatte in Dallas and I liked it but Barbi hated it. This particular location - I liked it even more and Barbie actually liked it. So I think it's clear between the two of us which is more enjoyable location. The Dallas one smells very strongly of tea, although Barbi thinks it smelled so bad it could not have been tea. This one doesn't smell at all - it's just nice. We will definitely be coming back in the future to try different things, but do bear in mind that for the purist this is definitely along the lines of somewhat Americanized (or Hawaiianized) Boba rather than a Taiwanese original. But then so is Boba Guys and that's amazing and that's actually what some of the milk teas here remind me of. I don't think the owners are related to the former owners of the now-shut-down Heights location, who sent me aggressive and abusive messages for reporting that an employee had told me during purchase that they did not receive their tips (the owners were taking them) and I should not tip. That is not the case - at all - at this location. They've been nothing but wonderful, and I've checked with employees here, and they get the tips, which is good to know. Very well worth a try. I wonder if one will open up in Bellaire Chinatown at some point. Was a time when you needed a car In the Heights to get Boba (quite far) But those times are all past (And your mother's quite fast) Thanks to the opening of Teapresso Bar!

Yelp
I really like this bubble tea spot despite not tolerating tapioca bubbles. They have a good variety of leaf teas that smell great. And their Vietnamese coffee frappe was excellent. They are ffriendly and seem willing to make me iced earl grey with no bubbles or mikk
google avatar

Yelp
One of my favorite tea spots in town! I'm glad they opened up this location in the EaDo area. This location is very well lit and clean. I really enjoy the Hong Kong Milk tea with boba! They use condensed milk in this drink, so it turns out very creamy and tasty. The boba is always on point as well, not too chewy. Their signature teas are also really good as well. They have just the right amount of sugar. Teapresso Bar is always worth a visit if you are nearby!

Yelp
Sweetened Vietnamese coffee with coffee jelly. That's the way to go day or night. It's so consistently good. The place is cute inside with a small amount of seating - only one table outside that's basically in their doorway though. The staff is nice and the menu is plentiful. I come every time I'm in houston these days.

Yelp
Without boba where would I be? I love it so much, it fills me with Glee. So to teapresso bar we went. Here I'd spent all my money. Every last cent. The staff was friendly. The tea neat. If you go to teapresso your in for a real treat.
google avatar

Tammy C.

Yelp
Tea and coffee always outstanding. Service is great and I love their pastries. They have plenty of choices for tea and boba. The rewards program is a nice bonus.
google avatar

Maria Aimen J.

Yelp
I've been here a few times now, the service is always quick and friendly. I like the brown sugar boba and the Vietnamese coffee. The Vietnamese coffee is strong and had a kick to it, made with condensed milk. My husband didn't enjoy it because it is bitter compared to other drinks, but I like it because I need the caffeine sometimes. I like how the inside is minimal and clean. Definitely come check it out!
google avatar

Natasha L.

Yelp
Clean boba shop with good customer service. The lady behind the register was very helpful & patient. They are known for their brown sugar milk tea. I went with that and added Boba and strawberry popping jelly. I had one sip and it is very very sweet. I have a sweet tooth so I would recommend this drink. If you do not have a sweet tooth then please get something else. If I'm in the area, then I would definitely go back to this location.

Yelp
Highly customizable menu and the amount of tea & boba flavors are unmatched! We love that they had games to play as well.

Yelp
Highly recommend this place if you're in East Downtown! Very bright, clean, and Hawaiian vibe interior. I honestly felt like I was back in Hawaii! DRINKS: The Waikiki Sunset Lemonade with Crystal Boba has been my favorite so far. You have the option to adjust the amount of ice, the sweetness level (the highest is 125%!), and size preference (small or large). I don't recommend the Passionfruit Green Tea, since I thought it was rather bland and watered down. PROS: - Large parking lot in the front - Super chill and friendly staff - Free loyalty rewards (just enter your phone number on the iPad at checkout) - Open late like 9-10ish (but call ahead just to check!) - Bright and open concept - Wide menu selection -- Hot/cold tea, slush, smoothies, milk tea, and signature specials - Quick service!!! The staff are like NINJAS with the loooooong weekend lines haha! - Close proximity to restaurants and bars nearby CONS: - Loud on the weekends... Difficult to hear your name/number whenever your drink is ready. - Difficult to obtain your drink from the pickup counter... Since it's challenging to hear your name/number, customers crowd around the counter. - Limited seating inside (not ideal for large groups especially on the weekends) - Wifi is okay. Better than nothing. If it were faster, I would come to grade papers after work. OVERALL: This place is a great place to go with your best-TEAS after enjoying the restaurants in the area.

Yelp
Finally got a chance to come to the new location! The staff here are friendly and helpful in helping you select your drink and making sure your order is correct. DRINKS/BOBA The drinks are amazing and top-quality as always. The boba is fresh, chewy and sweet. Drinks are customizable in terms of ice and sugar level. The teas are freshly brewed on the spot as they use the Teapresso machine (think about it as an espresso machine but solely for teas).  Make sure to shake your drink once you get it! Note when you order no ice, the drink isn't filled all the way up. ENVIRONMENT/STUDY Although smaller than the Heights location, this is perfect place to study during the week. It is not too busy/crowded to get distracted. All of the tables have a 2-plug outlet underneath the seats. The wifi (TeaPresso Bar Guest) password is located at the front where you order, and the connection is always fast and steady. On a side note: they also offer select pastries. I have yet to try them but they look scrumptious!

Yelp
Service was very excellent but i took one star away because the matcha milk tea just tasted like jasmine milk tea matcha flavor needs to be stronger
google avatar

Chrysty C.

Yelp
Brown Sugar Milk Tea with Boba They are always nice and helpful. They make me feel welcome and are always eager to explain the menu items.
google avatar

Chelsea B.

Yelp
Came here for a boba tea on my way to class and was not disappointed. It was pretty hot so the mango kumquat boba tea was so refreshing. Very cute store and very friendly staff.
google avatar

Daisy H.

Yelp
Very slow service! I came on a Thursday night and there weren't many customers and I waited so long for 2 drinks.

alexa m.

Yelp
WAY over priced. Regular tea comes to $7.25 before tip and the drink wasn't good has a strange splenda after taste and tapioca wasn't great you can get better for less
google avatar

Duke N.

Yelp
Great staff, tastes amazing! We ended up getting the mango lychee slush and the brown sugar milk tea with boba.
google avatar

D S.

Yelp
I rounded up from 3.5. They would easily get 5 stars but... Their cold brew, which I've ordered twice was horribly bitter with a strange aftertaste. I don't know if they are just getting cheap/ bad beans, not making it fresh, need to spring clean their equipment, or all 3, but it's 10x more bitter than hot coffee I brew @ home. Cookies and boba tea are solid and most of the staff are extremely friendly. The decor is simple, clean and modern. Driving: lots of parking and the area is easy to get around with not much traffic. Biking: they need some bike racks in this shopping strip. Maybe you can find a spot to lock your bike at the nearby Roostar.

Tersha P.

Yelp
Love their variety of drinks. Service is always nice and polite. This place is clean and quiet most times I go in.
google avatar

Alisha L.

Yelp
A nice addition to the neighborhood. My family and I walked there from our home. They have nice seating and tons of drink options. Not super busy, we were there in the weekend. Plenty of parking out front!
google avatar

Alexys S.

Yelp
I adore this place. their drinks taste fresh and delightful, while their flavor combinations are unique and light. I also love that they're not too sweet. they can be slow at times though.
google avatar

Peter N.

Yelp
Great service and a place that remembers you and know you by name. Drinks are always good and they always give good recommendations when you want to try something new! Definitely stop by to get your fix if you are in the area!
google avatar

Yelp
My go to tea bar. Everything I've had is delicious, not overly sweet and perfect boba ratio. Love their milk tea but my favorite is the pink dragon hibiscus, think SB pink drink but BETTER. They have a cute photo op to show off the pretty drinks. So glad it's walking distance from me, I will def continue to come here.

Lynn B.

Yelp
Usually it's super sweet at all the other places we have been but this was the perfect amount of sweetness... not overly sweet. We had Thai tea with tapioca and a ginormous sprinkles cookie for $5. They had a bunch of unique flavored chó in the front too.
google avatar

Alex L.

Yelp
We had a fantastic experience here. Loved the friendly staff and the laid-back atmosphere inside with a Hawaiian vibe (this is a Hawaiian-based concept). We tried a few drinks and they were all delicious, including the signature milk tea and americano with fresh organic beans. The location is great too, located in a new retail center close to the light rail in the heart of EaDo.
google avatar

S M.

Yelp
First time. I tried the Kona latte with caramel and whole milk, size large. Loved the atmosphere and my latte. I learned about Kona when I was young visiting Hawaii. So glad I have this gem in the neighborhood, Kona heaven. Great service and loved the positive energy. Great prices as well. Will have to try the Tea's my next go round.
google avatar

Hayley W.

Yelp
I really gave it 3 stars because it's cute inside. But the boba is not good. I ordered a taro tea and my drink has clumps in it. The drink is very gross.
google avatar

Mary V.

Yelp
This is such a clean, nice spot for boba! The customer service is super great, the owner really makes sure his customers are handled. Teapresso is different from other boba shops because their tea is made to order. So their tea is super fresh. I love that especially as a person who drinks tea daily. I like this place more than the Heights. Far drive from me but will always go here when I'm in the area.
google avatar

Ilyssa R.

Yelp
i've visited this place 2 times that i've been in Houston. all of the boba i've gotten has been good and the service both times as well. the inside is simple and clean which i appreciate. love their stainless boba straws!

Dayana A.

Yelp
I waited for 20 minutes and nobody helped me. They were talking in the back. The teas are good but bad service.

Paola N.

Yelp
The drinks were great! I got the Horchata milk tea with egg pudding. It wasn't too sweet which I liked. The person who took my order was really friendly. And the store looked nice and so clean! I will definitely be back.
google avatar

Zoe H.

Yelp
If you're a boba fan like me, then this is a great place. The place has a welcoming feel, lots of sitting inside, and is a cute little place to just hangout. I arrived around 7 or 8 and the still had a good amount of customers despite closing at 9 pm. Definitely a boba place to recommend.
google avatar

Cynthia R.

Yelp
Omg. I can not begin to explain how much I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! My favorite drink is the brown sugar milk tea w boboa. (It's right infront of el tiempo , which is how I discovered it, over on east end. )I really wish they would open up one around gulfgate are because it's so badly needed!! Anyhow. I have tried other drinks. Like their blue Hawaiian lemonade ,to die for!,taro coconut smoothie sooooooo good!!! Customer service is great always friendly. The place is super clean and plenty of parking up front.

Keani T.

Yelp
My fave boba spot. I usually call in my order. Great customer service and boba teas. Super clean too.

Ivan R.

Yelp
Awesome drinks, great customer service and the owner is one of the coolest guys you'll ever meet! Also, the cookies they carry from a local vendor are really a must have as well! Highly recommend!

Adriana R.

Yelp
There was so many things me and my friends did not like. For starters anyone would love to walk into a friendly environment but we received no type of welcoming energy once we walked in through the doors. One of my friends wanted to try a drink she's never had so she went to the register to order 2 more drinks and she had to wait over 10 minutes for someone to even take her order, after all the waiting one of the workers rudely started the conversation with a " yes ?! " like if it was an issue to order a second time. While my friend ordered a second worker kept staring up and down. Lastly, every other customer in there got their drinks delivered to their table very joyful, now I'm not saying we should have been treated like royalty but to treat 2 customers completely different on purpose is a problem.First and last time attending this place.

Yesenia M.

Yelp
All around since walking in the customer service was bad . First time here and last . Waited at the register for over 5 minutes because no one was present. Every single one of the employees were in the back . Until another customer walked in they proceeded to walk towards the register. When attended it was very rude and rushing for a first time customer. Everyone else was attended with a very cheerful mood besides me and my party . Overall horrible first experience with this location, ordered twice looking for something good about this place but was disappointed . Great selection but very disappointing service .

Isaias R.

Yelp
They have very nice cookies and boba, and rhe employees are very nice people. I especially love the calm and nice ambiance.

Ben M.

Yelp
First time here and it was a great experience, especially for it being a soft opening. Staff was friendly and attentive and I got a chance to chat with the owner who was very nice. As for the tea, I watched them brew it fresh to order, which really sets this place apart from the rest. I'd recommend making a trip to the east end and checking out this spot!
google avatar

Jenny R.

Yelp
Looking for a great neighborhood boba place near EADO? This is the place to go- friendly staff, great milk tea and other tea options, homemade boba and fun storefront space. Highly recommend- Thai tea with boba is my favorite. Give it a try!

Kayla F.

Yelp
Really had better hopes for this place. Nothing wrong with the customer service but their milk tea is so bad. Just tasted like water to be honest. Definitely not worth it either.

Amiee G.

Yelp
Tried their horchata milk tea! It was delicious! Their staff was very friendly and welcoming. Definitely recommend.

Anh N.

Yelp
I literally come here at least 2 times a week, this location specifically !!! The store is always clean. The drinks is great but the best part is that they have good customer service and always accommodate to my request! Try their Avocado smoothie, add on egg pudding my favorite one by far. I personally don't like avocado but their Avo smoothie is sooo good !!

Adriana S.

Yelp
Very kind staff and delicious bubble tea! They also have pastries and snacks. Looks like a nice spot to study/work because of the calm and quiet environment.

Leslie J.

Yelp
I love milk teas and get them any chance I get. This was no different, as I had just eaten at the place next door so I had to try Teapresso. This might've been the best milk tea I've ever had. I got the taro coconut milk tea with boba and the best way to describe it is "fresh". The tea tasted like it was freshly made, the coconut milk was thick and creamy, and the bobas were soft. The wait was slightly longer than what you'd typically expect for a milk tea/boba tea, but given that everything is fresh, it makes sense and is definitely worth the wait.
