The Best Boba Shops in Cupertino, San Jose, and the South Bay - Eater SF

"Though Teaspoon may have started as one small shop in Los Altos, it now boasts locations throughout the Bay. There’s an open kitchen at each of its shops, so visitors can see what goes into crafting their drinks. Teaspoon keeps its menu fresh, regularly introducing new drinks that incorporate seasonal fruits and ingredients. Their homemade marmalades make for delicious sweet fruit teas — namely their Silky Mango drink, which is inspired by mango pudding and made with their signature mango marmalade, organic milk, and honey boba. Another popular beverage, dubbed Liquid Gold, is a sparkling double-roasted honey oolong tea topped with cream." - Cathy Park

Google
A very cosy place to have beverages and what a variety, tried a few mocktails and found them really different and off course tasty too.. will be going again to try some more varieties..

Google
Teaspoon on Saratoga Ave in San Jose offers a delightful boba tea experience with an impressive variety of fruity flavors. Each drink is rich in taste and well-crafted, ensuring a flavorful sip every time. A great spot for boba enthusiasts looking for refreshing and authentic options.

Google
Left a huge gap in the cup (did not fill the drink). Drink was very watery and taste did not meet the expectation of an “$8 drink”. Definitely not worth it I really do regret buying this.

Google
Absolutely delicious boba teas. You use a touch screen to place your order. It takes some time to figure out. You will very easily have a line of people waiting behind you by the time you are done. We cut down the sweetness level of the lemonade to 75% and it was amazing. Not the biggest cups but big enough. Definitely plan to return.

Google
Must try if you love boba! We’ve been to multiple locations of this business and they never seem to disappoint. We have tried multiple drinks. My favorite is the Thai tea. If you don’t like Thai tea try the other flavors. Mango flavors are really good too! Great customer service!

Google
I love Teaspoon. There has been a couple new places with tea popping up around my house and I try them but always end up going back to Teaspoon since nowhere else seems to live up to them. They have a nice selection and they're fast and the people are nice. If you find yourself around the area and craving some boba...this is the place!

Google
Drinks are way too sweet across the board. Tea quality could be better, it’s just pretty mid overall. The store itself is so small and noisy. No comment on service because I ordered kiosk. Wouldn’t come again just because I think the drinks aren’t worth it.

Google
Great place for some boba. Lots of topping and drink options. Tucked away in a small corner of the plaza and thus does not have much space inside. I love cucumber so I usually go for the Grasshopper but I have not had a drink from them that I did not like.

Yelp
First teaspoon location I've visited. Drinks were delicious and service was fast. Highly recommended!

Yelp
I like this place bad parking but good customer service when i say less ice they actually do less ice not much room to sit and lots of trash everywhere though
google avatar

Ansley T.

Yelp
I got the silky mango that has honey boba included, and substituted it with oat milk and asked for less ice. I didn't want to take any risks but I'm sure this drink would've tasted better with regular milk and as well as regular ice. My drink wasn't that cold and tasted watery near the end. The flavor itself wasn't bad at least but it wasn't amazing either. There's probably better drinks at Teaspoon, but just don't do what I did. I did get my drink quick at least, and you can also order through a self-serve kiosk. I think they switched over to paper straws as well, so make sure to apply force when you're putting it in the drink lol I had to get a second straw because mine ended up bending. The interior is very nice and cozy though and the store is located a small corner of the plaza nearby Clover and Mitsuwa.
google avatar

Wesley T.

Yelp
I decided to give this place a try as it was close to the Mitsuwa Market. I got the signature house milk tea and I found it to be a let down. The drink tasted water-down and had a strange taste. It also wasn't that tasty as well. If you want to get milk tea/drink in this plaza, I recommend going to N7 or Coffee & Water Lab instead for a better drink.

Yelp
FLAMINGO DRINK & LADYBUG I found my new favorite drink!!! I ordered flamingo drink and my boyfriend had the ladybug drink. They are both amazingly good but I like the flamingo better because it is sweeter. Both of them is a must try for fruit tea lovers like us.
google avatar

Rebecca J.

Yelp
For a drink called creamy jasmine I was expecting more cream and not for it to be lactose free , however - I liked the drink it just tasted like jasmine green milk tea straight up ( which no complaints because that's my go to ) . A little misleading. , but still delicious . Friendly cashier and okay location parking wise .
google avatar

Yelp
If I'm ever in the plaza, my go to place for boba is this place. I like that there is seating inside and a kiosk to order if there is ever a line. Sometimes the tables here can be dirty that's the only thing. Just like the other locations, they have the same drinks such as a grasshopper, flamingo, classic thai tea, etc. Whenever I order my paradise lime, they always make it perfect. The employees who work here are always nice and if you need to fix something with your drink, they don't mind.
google avatar

Yelp
Everything was amazing, just like it always is when you go to Teaspoon. It was a scorching hot day outside, and after 3 hours of volleyball, I craved something refreshing besides water. Ordered a Lychee on Lychee with crystal boba and 0% sugar for myself and a Peach freeze smoothie with crystal boba for my brother. Delicious. We'd never tried these flavors before, and they were great. Come to teaspoon whenever you feel like having boba or Starbucks. It's better

Yelp
This Teaspoon is off to the side of a busy plaza. It is usually packed inside, so I usually just order to go. This is one of the boba spots that are opened later in the area. I ordered my usual, which is the Creamy Jasmine with boba. I feel like my drink is good, depending who makes it - it is not always consistent when I come, but the last time I had it, it was good. The boba was a bit overly sweeten on my last visit though.
google avatar

Alicia A.

Yelp
Nice offerings of different drinks. Love that their boba is fresh and chewy. The boba was still hot when I received my drink. Parking can be difficult but boba is always good and consistent.
google avatar

Yelp
Ah, every block you go you can find a Teaspoon. I guess it's like a boba version of Starbucks. While I was waiting for my baked goods at Clover Bakery a few shops down I decided to get boba. It was still a few minutes before opening and the worker was finishing up setting up and unlocked the door with a warm welcome. I placed my order at the kiosk at the entrance and he quickly made my drinks. Not all Teaspoons have this kiosk ordering system so it was nice to be able to order and pay at the kiosk. He was nice to offer to bag my drinks too since he saw I was struggling while trying to hold them. There were about 5 small tables inside if you were to sit and hang out. For myself I ordered the Strawberry Matcha Royale. Bottom layer is strawberry purée followed by milk and then matcha latte. The caffeine level isn't high on this drink and the strawberry contrast to green tea makes this drink delicious!
google avatar

Anjana T.

Yelp
I have been to this place before and they have a good selection of drinks. I tried one of their seasonal drinks the black sugar asaam which was not super sweet. In the past, I had their taro drink which was good but the consistency of the taro chunks was not the same for the entire drink. This is a self-checkout place and after you order, your drink will get called out. Mine came in ~5 minutes after putting in the order. I went on a Friday evening and there was not much rush. It is a pretty busy complex so can get hard to find parking if you go during the peak hours.

Kathy I.

Yelp
Quick friendly service and good boba my daughter likes! It's a regular go to for us! Small but efficient!

Yelp
I was visiting the area and I was craving some milk tea. I have been to teaspoon before, so I was excited to try it again. I ordered via the app, and waited in store about 10 minutes before my promised time. What I noticed was that a lot of people who had walk in orders got their drink before me. Even after my promised time was up, a walk I placed an order and got their drink before me as well, which prompted me to ask where is the status. The workers apologized for the delay, but it still irks me that they took care of me after others who placed their orders after me. Now onto the drink itself. The Earl Grey MT was delicious and had the flavor I expected. I added grass jelly for some texture and it was delicious. Other than that, nothing special. Overall, it was expected. May come again, but maybe not come to this location if I don't get my drink in a proper amount of time (My drink was said to be ready after 30 minutes, I waited 45 minutes)

Yelp
Teaspoon is my go to whenever i'm shopping at mitsuwa. they have a kiosk right when you enter which makes it so easy to order. if you're paying cash you have to go to the register, but all the employees are super nice, especially the manager, djuna. she's always super helpful with suggestions. i have never had better honey boba anywhere else. The honey boba here is always so chewy, warm, and the perfect amount of sweetness. i get boba so often, and i can confidently say they have the BEST honey boba. My favorite drinks there are the peach oolong, roasted, creamy jasmine, grasshopper, and black sugar assam. Inside is on the smaller side, but there's still lots of seating and free wifi. it's a nice place to go grab a drink and get some work done. the bathroom is also pretty clean as well.

Yelp
Terrible for group orders, and we're avoiding Teaspoon moving forward. We ordered over 30 drinks this afternoon, and four were completely missing. Of the drinks delivered, they were a mess. Most did not have any indication of what drink it was or the person who ordered, making distribution a complete mess. Not only did the drinks not look like the picture, but how can you tell sweetness level just by looking at a drink?! There was also feedback that the drinks did not taste as good as other places we order from regularly. I understand that you may not be staffed up to handle an order this large. If that's the case, don't accept orders of this size. You just end up getting a bad reputation. None of us ever plan on ordering from or coming here. There are just so many other great options for boba.

Yelp
Teaspoon...probably one of my favorite boba places right now. I can't really put a pin on it but of the Teaspoons I've went to in the Bay Area so far (Milpitas & Campbell), my recent visit to this location just hit differently. My bf and I had spicy chicken sandwiches with us and wanted to sit down somewhere to eat and also something to drink so we went here. It's nice that they had a few tables and places to sit. I got my usual Silky Mango - an oh-so creamy and sweet cup of mango goodness. The boba was pretty warm and softer this time around too. My bf tried the Black Sugar Assam. He was a bit worried that the drink was going to be too sweet (you can't adjust sweetness level on certain drinks), but it wasn't. I tried a few sips, and it was pretty good. Not my typical cup of tea, but it was different and new for me. I wouldn't mind getting it for myself in the future. My bf said the drink was ok but appreciated the higher quality tea. Perhaps the spiciness of my chicken sandwich made me feel like the drink tasted extra better than usual haha, but I love Teaspoon either way. If you're in the area looking for some boba, look no further.

Yelp
If you're anything like me, you know that a good boba spot is worth its weight in gold. I've been making my way around town and it's Teaspoon's turn. Here's my two cents: Let's start with the ambiance. It's your typical boba shop atmosphere - small and loud. There's not much space to sit and chat, so it's more of a grab-and-go spot. Not ideal for a date or a long hangout session, but it gets the job done. Now, onto the parking situation. Teaspoon is located in a strip mall, so parking is relatively easy to find. I went on a Saturday afternoon and didn't have to drive around for too long before finding a spot. That's always a plus in my book. The wait time for the drinks was impressive - they got them out super fast. I didn't time it, but it felt like just a few minutes before my Assam Black Tea with Boba was ready. My girlfriend got the Silky Mango, which she swears by. I tried a sip and it was pretty good, but I'm more of a traditionalist when it comes to my boba. Speaking of which, the tea itself tasted like it was high quality, but the boba pearls were just okay. They weren't bad, but they didn't blow me away either. One thing to note is that you can't change the sugar levels for the Assam or the Silky Mango, and the Assam was on the less sweet side. Overall, the combination just didn't quite do it for me. Another small detail that bothered me was that the ordering machine's touch screen wasn't very sensitive. It took a few tries to get my order in correctly, which was a little frustrating. All in all, Teaspoon is your average boba spot - nothing spectacular, but not terrible either. I'd give it a solid 3.5 stars. If you're in the area and looking for a quick boba fix, it's worth checking out. But if you're searching for something truly exceptional, you might want to keep looking.

Yelp
I've been to many different Teaspoon locations but this one is a bit iffy. I always order the black sugar assam (this is my regular order). Everywhere else the drink is always perfect but at this location it's always severely bitter. So...I ordered it again this time telling the barista 100% sweetness and it WAS STILL BITTER. I'm not sure how the black sugar assam is made but at the other locations the black sugar assam is always good but at this location they always make it so bitter? I'd also like to add that the macaroons tasted like paper and were hard as a rock. Customer service is alright I don't have anything bad to say about it. At the end of the day it could be the ingredients, the establishment, or the skill of the barista which is making it iffy with that being said please improve on this.

Joseph Y.

Yelp
The place is always busy, so hit or miss on the service. Do come at least 15-30 minutes before closing, if you want fresh brewed tea. Right at 11 PM, everything is closed down. People tend to more sit down, hang out at this location or in the courtyard, vs grab and go. They guide everyone to the self service kiosk to order tho. Yelp should have a "kitchen closed" time for hours. Just a side note.
google avatar

Reema V.

Yelp
this place in my opinion is so good! their classic teas are very very tasty! some of my go-to drinks are creamy jasmine, house milk tea, liquid gold and lychee on lychee. I recommend all of them!!
google avatar

Marissa P.

Yelp
I've had Teaspoon before at a different location and it was good, so it was nice to try other flavors and enjoy it here too. The silky mango is yummy and creamy. Strawberry matcha was pretty standard compared to others I've had. The lychee on lychee was a very refreshing fruit tea option, and I recommend getting it at 50% sugar because the lychee jelly is pretty sweet and will balance out the tea at that percentage.
google avatar

Sabeena B.

Yelp
This place has such unique drinks! I got the guava sunset with lychee jelly and it was so refreshing drink! It was pretty sweet but still really flavorful. My partner got the strawberry colada and it was delicious! The coconut and strawberry flavor was perfect! I wish I had gotten this one. 11/10

K D.

Yelp
I enjoyed their flavors and they have plenty of options. They are conveniently open late. Their service is fast.

Yelp
I'm always here.. either grabbing a drink for my husband or for myself or BOTH :) we just love their decaf options here. I've been to other boba places where the cashiers look at me crazy when I ask if they have any decaf drinks. I cannot drink caffeine & neither can my husband, but we love boba, so we are always making a stop at Teaspoon. Usually I get the caramel cream with oatmilk or the guava sunset, but today we tried their seasonal drink which is honeycomb banana milk! It is extremely tasty & I love how you can get less ice at this location & choose a sweetness level. My husband likes 10%, I like 75% haha.. I also appreciated how friendly and sweet the cashier was. She didn't seem annoyed that I had so many different things for my order and was still smiling by the end of the transaction. I am a Teaspoon regular for sure!
google avatar

Belle C.

Yelp
Great drinks, friendly workers. There's a bench and maybe about 4-5 tables. It's a nice small lil shop to hang with friends but I don't recommend working here. Their music is waaayyy too loud, much less for zoom calls, there's no Wi-Fi, and it gets really loud with people chatting so closely and with the blender going off all the time. Located in a strip mall, there's a huge parking lot that they share with 2 other drink shops nearby.
google avatar

Odelia F.

Yelp
Silky mango and banana milk were both too sweet. No option to reduce sweetness. Mango drink at ZERO& is way superior. Matcha with strawberry seemed better balanced. Boba texture was good. No longer serving shaved ice
google avatar

Alden C.

Yelp
I've been here a few times and honestly don't usually write reviews unless service is terrible or extremely good, this place is luckily the latter. The drinks were good, I got a red bull sunset. I had trouble using the kiosk, and even though they were quite busy, the manager came out to help me! Very nice person! Will continue to keep coming here!
google avatar

Paul R.

Yelp
I got the Mango Grapefruit Swirl. Something was off about the drink. There was an odd aftertaste. Wasn't sure if it was the coconut ingredient possibly being expired? Paid $8 for a very disappointing drink. Won't come back to this location again. First time being disappointed by Teaspoon.
google avatar

Regina D.

Yelp
First time here and I ordered the guava sunset with less ice. The drink was sooo good! I finished it before I got to the car! I will be coming back to try other drinks on the menu.
google avatar

Tamar L.

Yelp
This brand is a waste of space in the San Jose boba scene. Weak drinks that taste like boba from the 90s, ersatz and saccharine. Every drink I've had from Teaspoon was overly sweet, noxious with artificial flavors. I tried the "silky mango" and it didn't have real fresh mango in it; there was some kind of canned mango preserve instead. It was undrinkable. When you have other local brands like Boba Bliss and Tong Sui offering amazing drinks with real fresh fruit, this is not it.
google avatar

Emily S.

Yelp
I always stop by Teaspoon when I come to this plaza. I usually grab my drink and go, but they have some seating and free Wi-Fi available inside. I've tried almost every drink on the menu over the years, so here are my recommendations: Classics- My favorite from their classics is the Liquid Gold (50% sweet), but I like the Creamy Jasmine (50% sweet) and Taro Lover (usually without taro chunks) too. I get them iced, but they're also available hot. Signatures- My top picks are the Matcha Royale (50% sweet), Strawberry Matcha Royale, Silky Strawberry, Silky Mango, and Grasshopper (25% sweet). In the summer, the Strawberry Colada, Mango Funtime, and Guava Sunset are perfect to beat the heat. When I'm craving something sweet, I like to get the Caramel Cream with Oreos added. Create Your Own - Depending on my mood, I like to order the Peach Oolong Tea/Milk Tea, Roasted Oolong Milk Tea, Genmaicha (Japanese Rice) Milk Tea, Jasmine Green Tea, and Lychee Black Milk Tea. All of them at 50% sweet and available hot/iced. Pastries - They offer baked goodies for those who want a little treat with their drink. My favorites are the macarons, coffee cake, marshmallow bar, and brownie. I normally don't get toppings in my drink, but their honey boba has been great every time I've gotten it. The crystal boba, mango stars, and popping boba pair well with their fruit drinks. Service has been consistently great over the years. Overall, a solid spot for boba!
google avatar

Sunil R.

Yelp
This mall has a lot of great Asian dining options. PIcked up some boba and mochi donuts from this Teaspoon location. Would have been a higher rating if they had not missed our boba order which resulted in a 20-minute wait. Bah! Perhaps it was tainted by the wait but I did not like the mochi donut it seemed a little stale. Plus they only had strawberry and had run out of the other flavors.
google avatar

Emeric Kaye G.

Yelp
Entered and took our order on the kiosk! It was clean inside & staff was friendly! Our drinks were made quick and to perfection! Thai tea is usually a hit or miss, but it was definitely a hit. The strawberry colada was also so flavorful! Recommend both drinks at this location!! :)
google avatar

Constance L.

Yelp
Consistently hits the spot. Detailed breakdown below: **Service, 5/5** Friendly and quick service! Also bonus points for being so nice + having consistent drinks across all Teaspoon locations I've been to. **Decor & cleanliness, 5/5** Bright and clean with free wifi, indoor seating, and a few snack options (macarons, Verb energy bars). **Price & portion, 5/5** Easily comes out to $6+ for a drink with toppings, but that's on par with the area. **Presentation of the food, 5/5** Drinks look EXACTLY like the pictures, down to layers and everything. **Taste of the food, 5/5** Japanese rice milk tea, 50% sweet and 50% ice, with boba. Perfect amount of sweetness and the toastiness of the rice comes through. The boba is always soft here with great honey flavor! Seriously so consistent every time. **Other notes** Parking can be tough in this plaza and indoor seating is limited. They sell reusable boba tumblers, glass bottles, and straws here!
google avatar

Agnes D.

Yelp
The place is clean, staff is friendly and helpful. My favorite here is the MANGO FUNTIME, with honey boba. The mango is aaaahmazing, great mango flavor, doesn't taste artificial... honey boba was perfect in texture and sweetness.
google avatar

Alisa B.

Yelp
How have I not written a review for this Teaspoon? I've been coming to this exact location for years. Staff is friendly and quick. The quality of tea is always perfect! Never too strong or too light. You MUST try their handmade toppings! The egg pudding especially is my favorite. Very custard-like and not too sweet! Their boba is always chewy and sweet. Never too firm or overcooked. Their prices have gradually increased a lot over time though. My go-to drinks are: + Liquid Gold + Silky Mango + Creamy Jasmine + Grasshopper (but it has a strong cucumber taste, so before weary if you don't want that)
google avatar

Samantha W.

Yelp
Love that they offer oat milk here. I got a creamy jasmine w/ oat milk and my husband got a taro lover. They were both very good and I totally enjoyed it
google avatar

Isabella K.

Yelp
I love boba and this is one of my favorite boba shop in the area! This one is a little bit cheaper than the one in prune yard, so I would recommend going here! Whenever I get boba from this place we usually go to clover after! Overall 10/10 and you should go there!
google avatar

Sally C.

Yelp
Always been one of my favorite boba spots :) I usually get the Lychee on Lychee or the Silky Mango with boba. These 2 have been my go-to drinks which I recommend for my first timers. Parking in the plaza is so bad though, so it might take awhile to find parking. This place is popular for the Asian eats and the Mitsuwa Marketplace, so parking would be so bad. But the boba is always worth getting if you are around this area. I wouldn't go out of my way to go to this Teaspoon though.
google avatar

Julia S.

Yelp
Teaspoon is one of the best places to get boba in the Bay Area. They use high quality tea and make delicious drinks everytime. I've tried almost everything on their menu, and there's pretty much no misses. My favorites include Liquid Gold and Japanese Rice Green Tea. I just came here again today and got the Silky Strawberry, and you can really tell the quality of their strawberry jam. If you like boba and haven't tried this place out, I highly recommend it!
google avatar

Brittany C.

Yelp
Must try if you love boba! We've been to multiple locations of this business and they never seem to disappoint. We have tried multiple drinks. My favorite is the Thai tea. If you don't like Thai tea try the other flavors. Mango flavors are really good too! Great customer service!
google avatar

Stacy A.

Yelp
Today we thought we would be attending the Los Gatos Art & Wine Festival, but sadly they canceled it due to rain (which I totally understand) and we ended up browsing around a comic book shop, then decided on getting some boba tea before heading home. So we randomly found this place and stopped in. The choices were very simple, not your usual endless board of tea choices. Just 10 or so options on the menu. My family got a fruity option, and I got the classic black tea with honey boba. Both choices were delicious, but I liked the fruity Guava and my daughter traded hers with me, and I really enjoyed it! I'd come back again and try more things for sure.
google avatar

Cheena S.

Yelp
I usually visit here when I'm in town but this teaspoon is usually very busy. baristas here keep the standards high and my drink is made to perfection. Service here is always great
google avatar

Giancarlo B.

Yelp
I love to the Toffee Milk Tea, service is fast and friendly, the macrons are also good

Kaley B.

Yelp
My friends and I have been coming to this teaspoon location for years now and it's definitely our favorite. The service is always amazing and I haven't been disappointed with any of my orders. P.S. I recommend the lychee on lychee and peach oolong tea.
google avatar

Kevin L.

Yelp
Parking spots are plentiful and easy to find. Indoor seating is not available due to COVID-19. Noise level was average. I ordered a Hot rooibos milk tea with 0% sugar (1.5/5): the first couple of sips were good but then the tea flavor just suddenly completely fell off. It was just basically drinking milk after that. There were some hints of the tea here and there but it really didn't seem like a milk tea. However the boba was soft and chewy. I enjoyed the pearls as they practically melted in my mouth. Google/apple pay is accepted here. I really do like Teaspoon but this location just wasn't it. Additionally one of the workers seemed a bit irritated and annoyed but to be fair my party did come quite close to closing time. However, I don't think it was right for the employee to demonstrate annoyance. Overall, I really do love Teaspoon. It is one of my if not my favorite boba shop but I don't think this location is very good and probably won't be coming back here.
google avatar

Colin C.

Yelp
Their latest seasonal flavor Ruby Fizz is amazing. Every time I go to a Teaspoon, I order this drink with boba or lychee jelly. I would give it a 5 stars, but they did not add lychee bits into my drink. Otherwise, great drink.
google avatar

Beatrice P.

Yelp
I been going to Teaspoon since Lucy opened here on Moorpark Avenue. The employees are great customers service and also serve with a great smile . All the staff always make my Tea drink very .Teaspoon is the perfect choice for a good hot or cold drink to get . Thank you for Teaspoon employees for your generous hospitality and service . Keep up the amazing service you all do! I love your service and TEA

Yelp
Not for me. I've been to so many milk tea places and this does not even break the top ten. I actually wouldn't even think about coming here when in the mood for milk tea. Though I would say their menu looks enticing, their execution is just poor. I got the lychee on lychee and let's say I got more of the "on" flavor than the lychee flavor. Water has more flavor than this drink. Completely disappointed because I love lychee. Small spot located in a very busy plaza. Parking is pretty difficult. Heavily recommend just parking wherever there is free parking. Even if it's on the other side of the plaza from where you want to go. The spot is on the small side, the interior has seating but it feels very cramped. On the pricier side because they want to be fancy with their basic combinations. It's as if they charge extra per letter in the drink's description. If in the area maybe come here if you're on the verse of major dehydration.
