The Best Places for Afternoon Tea in and Around Phoenix, Arizona | Eater Phoenix

"Teatime is primarily known as a high-end tea shop, but it occasionally transforms into a venue for special high tea events. For $50 (or $45 for groups of four or more), visitors can enjoy quality teas alongside fare like Italian herb chicken salad on a mini croissant or cucumber and herbed cream cheese sandwiches, with pastries and desserts sourced from local restaurants.. Reservations are required, and seating is limited to 90 minutes to keep things moving. TeaTime also offers catering for those looking to host their own afternoon tea events." - McConnell Quinn

My friend and I had a lovely afternoon tea service. We tried 3 delicious teas and enjoyed an assortment of sandwiches and sweets. I’d prefer less sandwiches and something else that is savory but, overall it was great. And I would go back again.

Google
Absolutely AMAZING loose leaf tea. I have never had tea so good I’m genuinely upset at myself for shopping at Whole Foods all these years for my tea when I could have been coming here. The rice pudding is one of the best flavors I’ve ever had! I love the selection they have and the people that work there are so friendly! I got this really cute spoon too for my matcha :) my friend and I got some of their infused matchas and they were also fantastic! New favorite place!

Google
Attended the Sailor Moon Tea party weekend. Really enjoyed it. Started 30 minutes late because we were waiting on 1 couple. Ended up leaving past 4pm. Served 3 cold drinks and 1 hot drink. Did not enjoy the last drink. The drink tasted like water. Had too much ice in it. Food was cold. Could tell they were short staffed. Not all the drinks came out at the same time. I thought the courses would come out like it was listed on the menu and they served all the desserts on a platter. We were hungry so we ate all the desserts first. Food came out in a Bento box. Light menu, may come out again. They definitely tried. May have been better if we weren’t at a huge table with strangers. Recommending breaking up the tables so each party can enjoy the ambiance.

TeaTime Scottsdale is a charming hidden gem for tea lovers and anyone looking to unwind in a cozy, elegant setting. They offer a stunning selection of nearly 100 loose-leaf teas and unique blends that make every visit feel like a discovery. The full-service afternoon tea experience is beautifully presented with delicate sandwiches, scones, and sweet treats, it’s clear a lot of care goes into every detail. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and eager to guide you through tea choices or explain rituals. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with soft lighting, elegant table settings, and a relaxed yet refined vibe that feels perfect for catching up with friends or treating yourself to a peaceful moment. Highly recommend for anyone wanting a special tea experience in Scottsdale!

This isn't just a high tea - it is also an adventure. The first time I attended it was for a Lord of the Rings theme. The staff and owner went all out to make the experience feel like a quest in Middle Earth with outfits, decor, and food. The food and tea were all LOTR inspired...even down to the lembas bread! The other patrons were also Tolkien geeks as well which made the experience even more fun! I have been to this place twice now and have had the best time! Excellent food and tea, cool staff, and great location in Old Town makes this a must!

I went here this weekend for a small birthday get together and was pleasantly surprised. We had an afternoon tea reservation and one of our guests had a nut allergy that they were able to accommodate (her stuff looked even better than the basic menu!). All of our treats and sandwiches were absolutely superb and presented beautifully. I absolutely adore all of the details in the tableware they have! With afternoon tea, you get 3 pots of any tea from their selection. They were out of a few teas but there's so many options that we still found 3 we absolutely adored. They'll also let you smell teas to help you make your selections. Overall, such a wonderful and unique experience and I hope to be able to visit here again very soon!

Google
TeaTime recently catered a tea party for my 6 year old daughter and a few of her friends and we had an above and beyond experience with them!!! Communication was fantastic- Marion always responded quickly and was very friendly. They accommodated multiple dietary restrictions and included personalized menus with descriptions. The presentation was very cute and most importantly, the food was delicious!! We can’t recommend TeaTime enough. They also very generously gifted our experience to PANDA (a local nonprofit that benefits sick children), which is truly a reflection of Marion and her team.

Keith

Google
We were so excited to see Marion again! She is one of the sweetest people here in Old Town, and we were so glad she is still here! We always get the best advice and expert knowledge from her, so we highly recommend asking her when she is there. Tea Time Scottsdale is the best place to try tea for the first time or get the best quality ingredients for home. Their selection is hard to beat, and their shop has all you need to make it at home, or you can come here and get it to go. We always get the iced teas. The white teas are our favorite, but there are so many good ones to choose from. We haven't been here in so many years, regretfully, but we will be back for sure!

Yelp
I made a quick stop into Tea Time one day because I was craving boba. I wasn't paying attention when I Yelped boba shops, so I was a bit disappointed when I walked in only to discover that it's actually one of those high tea places. You know, the kind with those cute little sandwiches and clotted cream? Yeah, that. Now, I have been wanting to try a place like this since I never got to go when I was visiting the U.K. in November. One day I will actually sit down and enJOY what they have to offer. This time around though, I just ended up getting an iced tea. The lady suggested their Peach Apricot Black Tea, so I took her up on it. It wasn't really sweet, so I added a packet of Stevia. It was perfect and hit the spot on a hot afternoon in Scottsdale. This cute little shop also sells a lot of merch. You'll find all the cute things tea-related. They also sell special chocolates you can purchase individually. I believe they also sell some pastries if you're there early enough. Tea Time would be a great place to host a girls' day or a date with your mini! It's nicely decorated and the staff is super friendly. Ohhh, and as I checked out, the lady noticed my scrubs and asked if I work nearby. I said yes and she gave me a discount. How cool! I always appreciate a nice gesture. I will be back again sooner or later. Mom and pop shops such as this one will win me over time and time again. Can't wait to try their afternoon tea with the whole spread!!

Yelp
If you're a tea-drinker - or coffee or hot chocolate- head over to Tea Time in Old Scottsdale. The teas we tried were outstanding! We visited in early January and they still had their winter / holiday specials. I'm telling you, they had a tea that tasted like peppermint hot cocoa - amazing and delicious! They have other teas that are served like coffee, but of course tea that tastes like tea is the star of the show. If you want to try different flavors of tea or different types of tea leaves, you'll find it all at Tea Time with the entire wall behind the counter covered with a dizzying array of dozens of teas to choose from. The servers behind the counter are very helpful, pleasantly explaining everything and answering every question (I always grave a lot when there are so many awesome options!). The place itself is adorable decorated with tea cups filled with fresh flowers on each table. It's small and we took our teas to go, but you could sit and savor your selection and watch the people walk by. One thing I appreciated ... there were vegan / plant-based options for the milk to add to the tea. So nice! Highly recommended!

Yelp
Loved checking out this cute little tea house. First, you need to make reservations in advance to have the full experience, this is essentially a small shop that sells loose leaf tea but offers full service high tea. They outsource the food and have to plan in advance. When we arrived, our table was ready with the cutest personalized menus (loved this touch). We were given an extensive tea menu and our package was to pick 3 to share at the table (note: they only bring one pot at a time but if you don't finish the pot and are ready for your next tea, they'll pop the rest into a to-go cup). They also brought some samples of the teas for us to smell to help narrow down our decision. We went with 2 caffeine free (sangria and thin mint) and one caffeinated (apple crisp)- all were delicious. The food was ok- really hard to get GF where the bread isn't totally dry, but the scone was delicious (would love if they'd offer clotted cream + lemon preserves or something in the future!). The cute macarons were an adorable touch. The service was great, and I noticed on their website they offer themed teas- would love to try that in the future!

Yelp
Quality, ingredient-focused tea at a reasonable price. The people here are also super nice! I loved the seasonal drinks here. Their shop is nice and cozy, well air-conditioned so a good place to relax during my lunch breaks in the summer.

Yelp
My cousin and I took our mom's and her daughter and a friend here for high tea. The place was absolutely charming, the food was delicious, and the choices of tea were wonderful. I can't say if I had a favorite thing, everything was spot on. Oh, and they also had hats you could borrow if you forgot to wear your tea party hat!

Yelp
Our group of 9 enjoyed the most lovely high tea experience yesterday at Tea Time in Scottsdale. The attention to detail in the tasty sandwiches, scones, and exquisite pastries was impeccable. The selection of teas was quite overwhelming, but the ones we chose were outstanding and enjoyed by all (try the purple chocolate!). Their service is accommodating and so friendly. Gift yourself with this wonderful experience, one to be savored with good friends. Bravo, Tea Time!

Yelp
Service was amazing. I made a reservation for afternoon tea and got a call the day before so they could personalize the menus with our names. We never felt rushed to leave even though we stayed for a while. The $50 afternoon tea set comes with a great mix of savory and sweet finger foods as well as three whole pots of tea. Our server was super helpful when we were trying to decide which teas to get, she brought over the leaves for us to smell. She also packed the leftover tea to take home so that we didn't feel pressured to finish it all there. I'd say the food was average, nothing particular stood out too much but I did enjoy the pesto olive croissant. That was a unique flavor combination I've never tried before. Presentation was very cute though. For afternoon tea I didn't expect anything too crazy from the food though, I was looking forward to the experience more. The interior is cute, the wall lined with drawers of tea. There is such an extensive variety of different teas that I've never even heard of, like purple tea. This was the perfect experience to celebrate my friend's birthday, would definitely come here again for a special occasion.

Yelp
It's so refreshing to find a business where all the employees are incredibly knowledgeable about their products and are friendly and eager to help its patrons. That's the kind of dedicated service you're going to get at Tea Time. I have bought tea both for myself and for other as gifts. Every tea I've tried has been high quality and delightful, and the teas I have given as gifts have gotten rave reviews as well. I definitely want to book a day/time to enjoy high tea at Tea Time sometime in the near future.

Yelp
Adorable tea shop with a very large selection of loose tea to choose from. We stopped in to enjoy a cup of tea. The blueberry crumble is highly recommended. Caffeine free and taste delicious. I had the apple cinnamon coffee cake. I didn't care for it. I did not taste any cinnamon and to me it had an almond smell. Looks like they do Tea time where you have tea, finger sandwiches and desserts. So lovely! I would definitely like to try this next time around.

Yelp
This is for the store front that sells tea, and not for the dining experience. I'm in love with this place! I love all the selection of tea, from green tea, black tea to caffeine free. You can ask them to smell the ones you like. The flavors are really fun and unique! It is quite pricey though, it's about $30 for 100g. I got 3 different kinds but at the minimum of 50g. Then you can make any of the teas into a cold or hot tea drink. It was delicious. I love this place! Been drinking the teas I bought - prickly pear, green guava mango, and sangria sorbet . Delicious!!!

Yelp
We loved our time spent here and the tea party. The food was delicious, the tea was tasty, and the details of the table/menus was perfect! I would 100% go back and do it again. Especially for the chicken salad sandwich and the ham with chipotle aioli. The scones were divine and we had to take some to go. We had a great time here!

Yelp
Tea Time in Gilbert is a charming spot for a relaxing afternoon tea. The selection of teas and pastries is delightful, and the service is top-notch. I highly recommend stopping by for a cozy experience.

Team Tax L.

Yelp
Gluten Free people should not pick Tea Time Shop in South Scottsdale. They offer limited options, plus they are poorly prepared and the pastries are terrible. Gluten Pastries are much better that gluten pasties if prepared them correctly. Also, the tea selection list is to long ---They should pick 10 option weekly and it someone has a special request they can substitute

Yelp
I am a man who would be better suited for low tea but the high tea at Tea Time was honestly so much fun. Each of the teas were so good and flavorful. The lavender Earl Grey was my favorite. I will be stricken with dreaming of that tea for the rest of my life. And the food was incredible. The sandwiches with the dill spread and cucumber took my breath away but it was the chicken salad croissants that really made me bust a nut. The prickly pear macarons were as tasty as they were beautiful. Well worth the $45 especially considering the one I almost went to in Victoria, BC was $150.

Yelp
We have been to Italy and gone to some really good gelato places and this is just as good if not better. We tried n several flavors and all were amazing. A must if you are in the area looking for deliciousness- it's like eating joy!

Emily B.

Yelp
Such a cute shop with an incredibly vast selection of teas! Great place to find a fresh favorite or expand your tea palate

Yelp
My friend invited me as her guest to the Sunday afternoon "Tea Alchemy." I was afraid my medical dietary restrictions would prevent my participation, so I phoned in advance. WOW! I had hoped for perhaps some accomodations, but Tea Time went far above any expectations! I was prepared special items for each dish on the menu, carefully crafted and beautifully presented without fuss or drawing attention to my difference. Service was excellent, and both the food and the teas were exceptional. Top marks and HIGHLY recommended.

Yelp
Tea Time is truly a gem! Having the chance to purchase a brewed cup of tea to enjoy and the buy some to brew at home later. This is a very welcoming environment with a relaxing vibe. The staff are knowledgeable and gracious and if you go during the week parking is a little easier to find. If you love loose teas then this is your spot to make new discoveries.

Yelp
What a great find on my trip to Scottsdale! The staff is super friendly and incredibly knowledgeable about the large selection of teas here. We got a pot of the the apple ginger rosemary tea and also tried the roasted chestnut tea. Both were delicious and exactly what I needed on a cold afternoon wandering the streets of Old town. The shop is small, quiet, and clean with so many options of tea to try! They sold $1 individual tea bags if you found a favorite to want to take back. I will definitely be back whenever I am out here to try out the other tea varieties.

Yelp
Scheduled Tea for me and my little. Everything was amazing they emailed me with options for kids sandwiches and made personalized place cards waiting for us. My daughter was so surprised to see her name with the setup. Kids tea was 35 for 2 sandwiches and full desserts and the adult was 50 with 5 sandwiches and full dessert with three different pots of tea. They were so hospitable and able to suggest different teas that would pair well with the sandwiches and sweets. The only down side for me was the restroom was in another building all together.

Yelp
Very cute tea shop! Lots of interesting tea related items to look at! Good customer service. I ordered a hot tea and it was good.

Yelp
I am so impressed with this tea time!! It was easy to book online, the staff followed up to ask for our names for customized menus which was so sweet!! The ambiance and aesthetics was beautiful. The food and tea were AMAZING! I loved the cardamom and rose and the guava mango tea. There was plenty of food so I would not eat breakfast or atleast a light one- everything was perfect and I definitely will be back!!:) Food was excellent

Charlene W.

Yelp
Quaint ambiance, a lot of tea selections, delicious finger sandwiches. Would definitely go back for high noon tea.

Yelp
I was invited here as a part of a bridal celebration and it was so fun. Such a unique experience. We picked 3 teas to sample which was overwhelming because of all of the options. They were categorized by flavor profile which made it easier. Everything on the menu was served on a tea tier platter. I thought the Hummus Pesto Sandwich was the best but, I think most of the group preferred the cucumber cream cheese. This is definitely something to do with a group of friends for a celebration. A birthday, bridal party, etc. Photo Booth locations were set up inside the room. This was a very photogenic experience.

Yelp
Happened upon this place walking in old Town, one of the biggest selection of teas I've seen in AZ. You can purchase the teas per oz, per LB or just order them hot or cold at the batista bar. Wide selection of tea gifts and utensils to make and drink tea. Want to use your own cup and save on waste, they have no problem. Green, black, white, roobios, herbal, jasmine, pure ginger, and much more bases and variants are available.
google avatar

Michelle F.

Yelp
High quality tea! They offer high tea upon request and host the meal in a separate event space from the shop. The staff is so friendly and informative about the tea selections. The food was surprisingly great quality! We went for my brothers birthday and they provided a slice of cake to celebrate!

Chris D.

Yelp
Took my daughter here & we had a great time!! So many teas to choose from and the food was fantastic! When I booked the time the communication was fantastic and they were able to accommodate our dietary restrictions and had personalized menus when we arrived. Also loved how the place was decorated. Would definitely recommend!!

The F.

Yelp
Delicious teas latte! They sell samplers too. If you want tea only it's great. There's no snacks or food for purchase. Do not come hungry. Main event table is near the cash register. Very awkward. Lack luster on everything else but for else but the tea.
google avatar

Abby S.

Yelp
The teas here tastes great! I've now had a chance to try the Bengal Chai and the Darjeeling loose leaf black teas I bought from here, and I'm inclined to shop here again next time I'm in Old Town Scottsdale. Service was very low-key, and it left more to be desired. For instance, I had some questions about the chai teas they offered, and I think more detailed recommendations or descriptions about the notes of the teas would have been nice. Overall, this seems like a nice local place to pick up some loose leaf tea and other tea accessories!
google avatar

Alison M.

Yelp
A cute shop, dedicated to, you guess it - tea. They have tons and tons of flavors of loose leaf inside with tea mugs and steepers and steel bottles. We were going to order a drink and a scone from their menu and sit and enjoy but there was only one gal working inside who was very busy with a lady in front of us so we eventually left. Not her fault though, she was doing a great job helping that customer! We saw tons of iced tea drinks or tea palmers (with lemonade mixed) that looked delightful! We will come back!
google avatar

Bee B.

Yelp
Love-LOVE-Love this place!!!!! The strawberry matcha was wonderful. Ended up leaving with a large amount of absolutely delicious tea!!!! Highly recommended, if you are a tea lover! They have the Best from all over the world.
google avatar

Darya S.

Yelp
Extensive tea shop right in the heart of Old Town! They have categories of tea, like green, white, black, etc, and tons of types within each one. I asked for a nutty tea, and was recommended a couple of types by the store manager, Marion. I walked away with the Spiced Nut Chai and it's absolutely delicious. My boyfriend and I were so impressed when we made our first cup and love the hazelnut aftertaste and smell! We also bought the Turmeric and Spice tea, and that one is pretty standard - I do like the hints of ginger in it, but didn't blow me away like the first one. They also have all the tea accessories if you're into that sort of thing. Definitely worth checking out if you want some unique tea flavors and extras.

Bonnie K.

Yelp
Loved Tea Time. First of all, we sampled 3 teas and they all were great. As was the food- sandwiches- each one delicious. Sweets, yummy! The table was beautifully set, and we were fortunate that, though the room was small, we had it to ourselves. Our 7-year old guest described it as "Exquisite." She commented- "I love tea. I wish I could KISS tea." Can't wait to be back!
google avatar

Maggie C.

Yelp
Been here a few times since my hairdresser is just down the street. Very tricky to find parking anywhere in old town. Especially if visiting any of the shops on 5th Avenue. The shop itself is small, quiet and clean. Usually I just get an iced tea unsweetened upon the attendants recommendation. This way I get to try a variety of flavors I wouldn't try on my own. Never disappointed ordering this way! I've had the chance to also have high tea here multiple times. The last time we were able to be seated in a private area of their establishment. I was nice to have that available to us- not sure if that will always be available. On to the menu- the finger sandwiches here were AMAZING!! The Italian herb chicken salad on the cutest baby croissants was my absolute favorite of the five choices we had available to us- including two meat free. The croissants had a nice sweet touch on top which paired perfectly with the savory chicken salad. The pastry selection was also amazing- mini walnut chocolate chip sea salt cookies, scones, macaroons, and the cutest little tea bag sugar cookies. From the tea list we also went with the attendants recommendation and had them choose three for us. Again, forced us to try flavors we wouldn't normally. They also have quick grab and go gift sets. I keep a few on hand for gifts as I'm now slowly starting to go back "normal."
google avatar

Karen D.

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday afternoon and went with a large iced Scottsdale Sunset, which was perfect for a hot sunny day. So refreshing and light! I used my yelp check-in offer and purchased the Prickly Pear Black Tea, 50g (smallest increment to purchase). I also liked this one very much. Kind of difficult to taste the prickly pear, but it was nice and delicate. Wish there would be more seating indoors and outdoors.
google avatar

Kristin H.

Yelp
5 Stars all the way for this locally owned shop! What's not to like - they donate to charities (they participated in a fundraising activity with the Junior League of Phoenix), they are incredibly knowledgeable, have outstanding virtual events, and are extremely friendly and customer-focused. And of course duh they make great teas lol. Shout out to Marion for being so awesome! Will be continue to go back :)
google avatar

Shannon E.

Yelp
I wanted to take a friend from Seattle to afternoon tea when she visited. I did Lot of research and decided Tea Time was the place. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was yummy, Ibloved that they offered larger sandwiches than most and more options. I also loved that we got 3 pots of tea to share. We had Scottish Breakfist, Sedona Sunset and Creme Brulee. It was a quiet and nice setting though it could have felt more homey with more comfortable chairs but that's only if I'm being really picky. I highly recommend. Make a reservation and have a wonderful time. If you just need a place e to buy tea this is the place, so many options.
google avatar

Tara C.

Yelp
I used to come here all the time but then I moved so it was a bit of a drive to come. I came back today with my husband for our anniversary, because it always reminds us of our early dating days when we would come and have tea here! Let me tell you everything was just as amazing as I remember! Marion who would always take care of us was there! It was so wonderful to see her and she recognized us too!!! It made us feel so welcomed!!!! We hope to be back again soon! The tea is always brewed fresh and it's always delicious!

Yelp
Excellent tea with beautiful atmosphere and warm and helpful staff. The tea was so amazing and there were plenty of good photo backdrops in and outside the Tea Room.

Yelp
I LOVE this place ! I am a tea lover and have a special Cuisinart tea pot to brew the exact temperature for each type of tea. I am a lover of green and white teas and this place has my all time favorite tea....Pina Colada Green Tea. I am so glad you're staying in business through this Pandemic ! I want to be able to get more of your teas when I run out. Highly recommend

Bonnie K.

Yelp
Second time at Tea Time and disappointed. They have changed storefronts and the new one is not as nicely done and has no restroom. The food and tea were delicious, yet, the service was very inattentive. Our server was disengaged, and, with only two people working both the tea room and the retail shop, they were very understaffed. Tea was not set up at the time of our reservation and we were halfway through the food before the first pot of tea arrived. The meal was over and I had to go in to the shop to inquire as to whether the 3d pot was going to be served. We will be trying another option for our next tea party.
google avatar

Heather P.

Yelp
I groom my mom hear today it was really really nice. Service was great the food was so good . Sometimes at tea the savory are good but the sweets might be ok. NOT this place both are so good. The tea you get to choose three different teas and their have so many. I could not say anything bad such a nice place and very nice ladies running it
google avatar

Kyle S.

Yelp
Tea time is a great hidden spot in old town for a refreshing beverage. Believe me, this will be your cup of tea. They have a large variety of hot and iced teas. The tea makers totally know their teas! Taylor is very personable and took the time to explain all of the teas to me. I ordered the purple Palmer and it was delicious. It had equal hints of lemon, strawberry and some other herbs that all balanced out really well. No flavor was too strong. I highly recommend this if you want some good tea. They do not have boba tea, so go somewhere else to get the bobas.
google avatar

Taz H.

Yelp
Such a cute little vegan tea shop! The barista was friendly and welcoming, and helped me select the tea flavor for the iced latte. I ended up getting a lady gray iced latte since I'm obsessed with lavender. She also helped me pick out loose leaf tea. I purchased coconut macaroon tea to take home. It was a tough decision since there are so many caffeinated and decaf varieties, but I can't wait to try it. I used the Yelp check-in deal here too!

Yelp
Picked up Tea from Tea time with a friend. The ladies behind the counter were super helpful in helping us choose which tea to get. We weren't able to smell the tea due to COVID restrictions. Ended up choosing a peach tea. Looking forward to coming back and getting a tea to go next time I'm in OT.
google avatar

Ashley V.

Yelp
I love this place! You can order a tea and they'll make it for you or you can buy the dry herbs to make your own at home. Staff members are very friendly and good at helping you pick out ones if you describe what flavors you like. There's a lot of decently priced equipment in the store too like French press, tea pots, tea baskets, mugs, etc. also have a little sitting area if you want to drink it there.
google avatar

Yelp
It was a hot day in Scottsdale. SHOCKER, Right? I wandered into Tea Time and inquired as to what type of ice tea they had. The lady behind the counter told me ALL of the tea they sell can be brewed to order. I asked about a green tea, and she handed me a sheet listing all of the green teas (4 different ones, if I recall correctly). I told her I'd let her pick, because I wasn't familiar with the ones on the paper. She steered me to a Japanese green tea, and i ordered a Medium beverage. She brewed it for me, iced it and showed me where the sugar and straws were. I wish I wrote down her selection, because it was refreshing, perfect for a hot Scottsdale day! It was my last day in Scottsdale, but when I go back I plan to purchase some to take home.

Yelp
What a sweet tea place that had SO many options. We scheduled high tea on a Saturday for my sisters birthday. We were the only ones there, so we had their full attention but also privacy. The food was tasty, and we enjoyed their tea recommendations.
