This Oakland-Raised Tea Lover Baked 150 Basque Cheesecakes To Find the Right One | Eater SF

"Started as a cheesecake-and-chai pop-up named for his golden retriever Bella, this project is built around Justin Phanksom’s obsession with a Basque cheesecake that’s “as soft as biting into clouds” after roughly 150 trial cakes. I watched him recreate the Samovar tea-house connection he misses by ladling 16-ounce cups of a strong, spicy, vegan chai ($6) made with oat and coconut milk; he hand-grinds a secret blend of spices and keeps the brew at a set temperature, producing a drink that tastes like hot chocolate by a campfire or dad’s mulled wine at Christmas. On busy Sundays outside the Crawstation (near the Inner Sunset Farmers Market) he draws a crowd, takes pre-orders for cheesecake while he looks for a permanent host space, and even hands out a cup to a customer short on cash with a quiet “I know you’re good for it,” showing how important the personal connection is to the pop-up." - Paolo Bicchieri

Google
Absolutely loved this gem of a tea shop! Loved it so much I made it a priority to come back for a second time on my weekend trip to St Pete. Both times I was there the staff was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly and offered great personalized suggestions. I loved that they could make all of their teas iced as well. Their seasonal drinks were all so fun!

Franci B.

Google
This was one of my highlights of visiting st Pete this past weekend. Both employees working this past Sunday were super kind and helpful. I walked in asking for a suggestion and the Moroccan mint tea was exactly what I needed. The outdoor seating was an unexpected little delight.

Carly Rose S.

Google
This tea shop is such an adorable little gem! They have an entire wall of beautifully dried teas with herbs, spices, fruits. They take them down and waft them for you to smell and make your decision of what tea you want. There’s also a lot of cute little artisan crafted chocolate. Locally sourced trinkets, candles, perfumes, hand towels, and anything and everything to do with the tea!

SPIRITS of St. P.

Google
It was great except it was 7 bucks for a tea. Still, it was awesome tea....

Google
I received a warm welcome as soon as I walked in and was impressed with the layout. There were so many options and I was given a run down of the various teas in stock. I selected a lavender fog and enjoyed it outside in the shade with a friend. I would definitely return to this amazing tea shop.

Tango T.

Google
If you miss Teavana, this is very similar. There isn’t any food, just teas. There are iced tea infusing carafes and lots of fragrant loose tea. You can find everything you need for a perfect matcha at home or order one and enjoy. There is a hidden creek outside at the east end of the building.

Google
It's a great place. The different combinations are amazing. There are so many options, you can choose the one that you feel most attracted to. The service is great and the place is so aesthetic.

Google
I’m a casual tea drinker, not an expert by any means. The employees were super helpful in helping me find a tea I would like! Ended up going with the Blackberry Jasmine green tea, and it was delicious. Fresh tea, fantastic employees. Definitely want to come back and try more

Yelp
I absolutely love TeBella!! They have some amazing seasonal drinks and the baristas are always helpful. They have some outdoor seating to enjoy your beverage and enjoy Central Ave.

Yelp
The amount of teas that you can choose from are huge and super original. The inside had a lot to look at. Not only tea but tea pots, pins, books, matcha sets and water bottles as well. There's no indoor seating but the outdoor seating is cute and clean. I recently went here to try their banana cream cold foam that I saw on instagram, but learned that it was seasonal. I wasn't disappointed though, because I ended up getting a caramel biscotti tea with milk. It was made like a London fog and wow is all I can really say. It smelled good and tasted amazing. The only reason for a 4 star is that there weren't many food options to choose from. There were macarons, cookies and chocolate bonbons which looked lovely, but I was hoping for something like breakfast or a croissant. Overall the place is lovely and because of their wide selection of tea, books, merchandise and honey selections and wonderful customer service. I will most definitely be coming back.

Yelp
Such a cozy place with A TON of tea flavors to choose from and artisanal chocolates and macarons for snacking! We got a punch card while visiting and it is well worth the money! So refreshing, definitely recommend!

Yelp
I'm a huge tea snob and TeBella is my plaaaace. I've been refilling my cannisters here for years and still get overwhelmed (in a good way) at all of the options. I try to get different things each time since there is so much to try and I've still probably only had like 1/4 of the inventory. Some of my favorites are the kukicha and gyokuro green teas; the milk, coconut, and lychee pear oolongs; the masala chai; and the jamaican ruby red and moonlight magic for the herbals. Omg and the jasmine pearls. I could really go on and on. The baristas are sooo helpful and knowledgeable and I always see people in there who maybe aren't as knowledgeable and they are so enchanted and having the time of their life in there. It's just instantly such a pleasant experience as soon as you walk in, whether you're just browsing, buying loose leaf tea to take home, or ordering a drink. I've actually never ordered a drink here because I prefer to make them at home but everyone I know who has raves about it. Plus they give out punch cards for drinks which is nice. I honestly need to get into that because enjoying an iced tea, especially from their creative rotating seasonal menu, at one of their outdoor tables and people watching on Central Ave. sounds euphoric.

Yelp
I frequent all of the locations for looseleaf tea in bulk. Ever since quitting coffee, tea has been my lifesaver. They have so many options to choose from, and specials and seasonal flavors as well. A few of my favorites are sweet banana cream, cafe au lait mixed with chocolate puerrer, gingerbread seasonally, carrot cake, and peppermint. If you've never experienced looseleaf tea, they are extremely knowledgeable, and will coach you on starting out new . Their shop has lots of options for purchasing teapots and steeping utensils. Parking is tight at this location, but the shop is very quaint and easy to access. There is not much seating at this location so working is not great . More of a pop in and out store. Though the Davis Island location has great seating.
google avatar

Lori M.

Yelp
We just moved here and I looked up tea cafes in the area. Teabella fit the bill! Located on Central there is parking out front. Walking in you get the most Aromatic scents when you walk it. You have a wall full of every kind of tea you can imagin to choose from . I ordered caramel biscotti tea and took Peachy Keen home for my hubby. My tea was the best I've ever had and now I'm going to have to go back to try their other flavors. Would loved to have seen a couple places to sit but it didn't take away from the tea. The servers were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Definitely will be checking them out again.
google avatar

Nisha A.

Yelp
The name goes well with the cuteness of the place. The service was very polite and helpful. It feels very cozy inside sip on your tea and walk around the store. It was preteaaa* amazing experience!
google avatar

Julia P.

Yelp
A beautiful experience of tea. You walk in and there is just an array of all kinds of tea: herbal, fruity, caffeine or non. They take them down and you can smell them and create your own drink. They do have a seasonal menu of drinks and I love to go and try the new flavors. It's a fun experience. There is limited parking but more than most of central has to offer. There is no seating inside but there are cute trinkets or tea related products. Everyone is very kind and knowledgeable. Service can be slow if it's busy because they make it as you order and tea can take a few minutes to soak.
google avatar

Sydnee A.

Yelp
Where all tea lovers should go to feel like they've got their life together. No complicated rituals, no pretentious lingo, just great tea with that'll make you feel like you unlocked a level of inner peace, but with way less effort than a yoga class.
google avatar

Bailey B.

Yelp
There are so many delicious sounding teas I was overwhelmed in the best way possible and cannot wait to go back to try more! The baristas were so nice and helpful picking out what to try! The store setup is adorable with every tea accessory you would need!

Lisa R.

Yelp
I am so happy my friend suggested this tea company, absolutely incredible. So many beautiful gift ideas. I had the lavender fog ice tea, fantastic. So many teas to choose from. I will be a steady customer. The teahouse employees were so helpful.
google avatar

Deidra R.

Yelp
The ambiance is exactly what I think of with "Tea Shop" comes to mind. Staff was friendly and the place was clean. Now let's get down to the real tea ... I ordered a peppermint tea (hot) and it was so fresh and just delicious. I didn't need to add anything to it. I'm happy I swung by and what makes it even better- MLK parade was going on and no other stores near by would let us use their restroom. Thank you

Yelp
This is another great coffee shop in Saint Pete. I normally don't go to same places because I like to get to know different ones but this specific one I'm definitely gonna go back again I just told my daughter. I loved the service, the decoration and vibe, the delicious and the most amazing iced coffee latte with lavender essence, and a beautiful place that is this one. We were there as we enjoyed our coffee's and it was perfect. We also had a dirty chai latte and it was the first time I tried it and it was great. We parked in a parking garage we close by and the first hour was free, after the first hour do you only pay one dollar an hour or at least that's what I read and date on that day which was a Friday afternoon.

Yelp
I've been a longtime tea drinker so finding this new location in the Edge District meant I had to stop by. TeBella is one of the best local tea shops in Tampa Bay. I don't drink tea as much these days outside, but an ice cold genmaicha was perfect when the sun came out to torch me while I was working outside. The service was good, their POS does need some work though, I had to manually punch in my card info and I can't imagine that's convenient for customers. Appreciated solid Wi-Fi and a clean bathroom as well. Will return and recommend!
google avatar

Amy W.

Yelp
I love this place! How did I not know about this sooner!?! I love tea, hot and cold! They have every type you can think of... and even mixes for the perfect flavors. I purchased loose leaf tea and had one of their seasonal teas made. It was black currant with lemonade and elderflower. Was so refreshing and perfect for the sunny day. The gentleman behind the counter was so knowledgeable and patient as I asked many questions. I can't wait to go here and try my teas all summer. It's such a cute place. Before I left I was informed they will be moving their location to the 1400 block of Central Ave. he said there's more space for more tea. Also they had Kahwa coffee available which is my hubs favorite.

Yelp
TeBella Tea is probably my favorite place I've found since moving to St. Pete. Ever since I was young, I've been a tea drinker. Ironically, I'm not the most knowledgable about it, but I know I love to drink it so that's what counts. Tucked away on the 2nd floor of Station House in downtown, TeBella Tea is now my almost daily stop. Featuring dozens of fresh loose leaf teas for literally any occasion. The teas are fresh and I just love smelling them to figure out which is going to be my flavor of the day. My favorite as of lately is the strawberry rose simply because it's a great way to beat the heat. But really, with so many options, you can't go wrong. They also have coffee here too so don't worry if you are not a tea person. They have a punch card- buy 10 get one free and they also have a $29.95 monthly subscription box that gets you the following: Two (2) 2oz bags of tea from our regular tea collection One (1) 1oz bag of a tea from our Reserve Collection One (1) 2oz bag of German Rock Sugar A featured bonus item A specialty drink recipe card So it's definitely worth it. The other thing is the staff is absolutely amazing here. So friendly and willing to answer any and all of your questions no matter how silly they may seem. They really love working there and love tea just as much so they want you to be happy with your order. Get your tea with agave like I do for a little kick of sweetness and enjoy your day with an amazing beverage here.

Yelp
Good spot if you need a tea refresher while in downtown St. Pete. KEY TAKEAWAYS: TEAS - While I love sweet tango, others are ok - these are mostly very simple mixtures and I prefer more complex combinations. Some also have sugar snuck in (carrot cake) so fyi. FOOD - Don't come hungry - currently very few options with a few canisters of cookies (see pic). The food is provided a few times a week by a mobile bakery called Mana Bakery. I haven't tried any of the food but honestly, if it's not baked same day, I won't waste the calories. TEA ACCESSORIES - I bought a great tea maker where you steep the tea in the container and then stick in the fridge. I was surprised that the price was comparable to Amazon, so bought in store. Pretty gift sets also available. (See pic) AMBIANCE- In a pre- COVID world, I would have loved it - great place to lounge, work on your computer and have a coffee. Amidst COVID, I run in and run out for my tea. Lots of mask-less patrons sitting indoors is not for me. There is no outdoor seating. COFFEE - They serve Kahwa coffee. COVID - Employees do wear masks but restrictions seem rather lax for patrons.

Yelp
I finally stopped by! We were originally turned off by the vibe because it looked like it was going to be expensive but it actually wasn't that bad, especially given central ave prices. I got the lavender fog with oat milk and my friend got the peach oolong tea, both iced. Both are delicious and refreshing! We got the larges thinking the regulars would be way too small but the larges were HUGE. I'm going to be peeing for days straight lmao. We also got the macarons which come from a local bakery! We are the Thai tea and orange creamsicle macarons and they were so tasty. I'm definitely going to have to come back.
google avatar

Thuyen B.

Yelp
Cute lil tea shop. There is a huge wall of tea, so many options! The employees were very friendly and helpful. I am not a huge tea drinker but it was very fun learning about all the different kinds of teas and smelling them. The iced tea drink I went with that was recommended by an employee was very refreshing. Especially now with these insanely hot summer days. Will definitely stop back in when I am passing by!
google avatar

Rebecca S.

Yelp
Such a cute tea shop with so many different options. When we stopped in, we were the only people in the shop so the staff worked with us and offered lots of suggestions on what to order, but if they get busy they have a physical menu with descriptions of everything too. Even with that, choosing what to get was hard because they have so many good looking options. We finally settled on a peach oolong iced tea and an iced lavender fog. We got larges but next time will probably get a small because they were so big. Definitely worth the money but a little inconvenient to carry around. We got the macarons as well - orange creamsicle and thai tea flavors - and they were great. I will definitely be back! Such a great spot to stop into for a cold drink while visiting downtown! I'll definitely be back to try more of their teas
google avatar

Lauren H.

Yelp
Such a cool place! I was amazed at the amount of teas they had. Herbal, rooibos, white, green, black-they had it all! I got the carrot cake and it tasted just like carrot cake. It was delicious to drink. My friend got the white coconut which wasn't as strong as I would have liked. It was also iced which could have changed the strength. The woman helping us was very nice and answered our questions. I loved the atmosphere the best. They had cool couches and mirrors, beautiful hard wood floor and a checkered pattern floor too. I will definitely keep this place in mind the next time I want a tea date!
google avatar

Yelp
Here's some virtual flowers for the gal working today towards closing time. Kicking myself for not asking for her name!! First time in this joint and my little tea-loving mind went bonkers at the selection. The lady working was so sweet and helpful and the tea is absolutely delicious!! I will be back and back again and back again.

Heidi J.

Yelp
Beautiful store, helpful staff and tea brewed to perfection! They also have lots of cute gifts, a great selection of Florida honey and William Dean chocolates!! Also-please note the hours on Yelp are shown in the picture! They are open on Sunday!!
google avatar

Yelp
Each tin of loose leaf tea at TeBella is a bouquet of aroma and full of flavor! Whether you're a tea connoisseur, a southern sweet tea drinker, or have never tried freshly brewed loose leaf tea--TeBella is your place and you have to stop in to try a glass (have it iced or hot)! Anyone who drinks loose leaf tea knows that brewing lose leaf tea is a true form of art. Quality loose leaf tea, pure water, water temperature, steeping time depending on the tea being steeped: green tea, black tea, oolong, white tea... well, Tebella has the best loose leaf tea since Teavana, and they have mastered the entire process. For all of you tea drinkers who buy boxes of dry tea bags--I highly suggest you cease buying those commercial boxes filled with stale teabags and switch to loose leaf--you can purchase bags of loose leaf tea from TeBella. It is much fresher and far more flavorful. Tebella is located inside of the Station House--a dynamic open working space (another space/concept that deserves a 5-star review)!

Yelp
i absolutely ADORE this place!! such a hidden nook. it's perfect for getting work done-- it's quiet, the music is very soothing, it's never too crowded, masks are required unless eating or drinking, and the tea is AMAZING. the london fog or their special butter beer fog have to be my favs. i literally love coming here, it's my fav spot in dtsp at the moment. also there's an adorable little dachshund that waddles around sometimes that you can pet. so adorable :)
google avatar

Philip L.

Yelp
Wonderful tea retreat in the coworking space. Great to see all the attention to tea varieties. The Tung Ting green tea was amazing! Cool light green color, refreshing taste, was loving it. Could see myself coming back to try many more teas.
google avatar

Michelle F.

Yelp
So happy to have TeaBella here in the Edge District! Enjoyed a wonderful iced London Fog here on a warm day, outside at one of their tables on the sidewalk. The shop is clean, filled with cute gifts and mugs. They have an extensive wall of tea canisters filled with an amazing assortment of loose leaf teas, and very knowledgeable staff to help you choose just the right ones for you. Baked goods in the case looked yummy, but the handmade truffles really caught my eye-amazing glossy artwork! Can't wait to stop by again soon for another visit.
google avatar

Yelp
We were on vacation in St. Petersburg and we got a chance to visit this Tea place located in the Station House. What a beautiful interior! They hand pick their tea's from around the world and their collection of loose teas were impressive. The Tea House also is part of a co-lab work space. A very impressive fusion of business's to workspace to create an environment for entrepreneur's to thrive.
google avatar

Ally S.

Yelp
3:30pm. Dead quiet. The coffee register lady just too busy talking to a customer all kinds of her tea experience? I understand you're explaining what all the flavors, but they didn't purchase anything at all and didn't check up to see if I want to get my quick order. Just continue to talk later after you see me standing there more than 5 minutes. Look like there's plenty of staff gossiping. The customer she spoke to offered me to order first so he can continue the conversation later. Sad if the customer let me interrupt and was sweet to let me order first. What is worse, my pumpkin spice lattes sucked!!!! Watered down. Scared to try the breakfast place now bc my church wanted to meet here for breakfast.
google avatar

Hawk R.

Yelp
A friend told me about TeBella. Made my first order this week. Very fast on delivery, packages were air tight. Definitely will continue to order. Loved every one that I bought. If you like tea this is a must try.
google avatar

Pamela A.

Yelp
The setting is so beautiful with the trendy upscale decor. TeBella has such such a large selection of the highest quality teas. It is my favorite place to settle in for reading a book and enjoying the beautiful ambiance. I will never go back to Starbucks.
google avatar

Marian K.

Yelp
Amazing study/work spot! The decor is great and open. The coffee and teas are sublime! I recommend the iced maple fig black tea with agave. This is my official go to spot for studying. I just wish they were open later...they close at 5 pm unfortunately. Free WiFi as well! It's great for a coffee date or meeting because it's not loud or packed either. 5 stars!
google avatar

Darbi L.

Yelp
Very helpful staff. Huge selection. The best iced lavender fog I've ever had in my life. Atmosphere is so great and chill. The tea is perfect. They have a bunch of trinkets for sale too. I'm so in love. Definitely going to get some tea to take home!
google avatar

Taja S.

Yelp
My friends and I came here to work on a group project, and I will say this is a gorgeous facility - the openness of the café seating area, the décor, the ambience, were all really lovely and enjoyable. I can see how this would be a great spot for relaxing and reading a book, working, or chatting with friends. That being said, I am giving only three stars because the service I experienced was very unsatisfactory. I am new to the world of tea, and the young man who took my order was not at all helpful or explanatory of their tea selection, but instead seemed to be rushing me to make a decision. Once I did place my order for a Masala Chai Latte, I waited well over 15min for it - several people who had been in line behind me received their drinks before I had gotten mine. When my drink was finally given to me, there wasn't an apology for the wait - he just went on his phone and started watching videos (you could hear them over the music in the café). The drink itself was decent - had great spicy notes, but it had no sweetness, and they don't carry regular sugar, so I did my best to sweeten via Splenda and agave. All in all the location and interior of this place is impeccable, the tea selection seems impressive, but I think their staff could use further training in customer service and professionalism - if that improved, I think this would easily be a 4 or 5 star place in my opinion!

Yelp
While walking to lunch this past Sunday afternoon, my nerdy friends pointed out a programming academy (The Iron Yard) on our way which was located in Station House. On the way back, they wanted to step inside the building and snoop around. Well, this turned out to be a beautiful and very impressive TeBella Tea storefront as well! The interior is historic and luxurious in my opinion with several private work spaces behind glass walls. Each work room has it's own style (couches, desks, large office chairs, meeting space, etc). The bathrooms are tiled with small ceramic tile and are very simple, yet remind me of something you'd see in Europe. The chandelier in the entrance way sets the expectation that you are entering into an opulent workspace. The tea selection is enormous and they also offer Kahwa coffee choices. The counter has several baked goods and honey sticks from local vendors if you would like a snack as well. Prices are reflective of the setting, but the selection is amazing. If you want to find a nice quiet workspace (soft background music and almost a library feel), this place is perfect. College students and business professionals alike would find this to be a great place to get some work done. There are plenty of outlets around the main public seating area. My only point of caution is that the lucite chairs in the main seating area are somewhat uncomfy, but this is easily overlooked by the other cozy seating around the shop. Certainly a unique tea/coffee shop to check out!!
google avatar

Lisa N.

Yelp
I'm a big fan of TeBella's new location in the Station House in St. Pete. They have a nice selection of loose teas. The employees are knowledgeable and will let you smell the teas and help you make a selection. All teas can be made hot or iced and they have some great specialty drinks; my favorites are the Matcha Lemonade and the Earl Grey Lavender Lemonade. They also have a nice selection of snacks from local bakeries and restaurants including scones, maracons, sandwiches, biscotti, croissants, etc. On Wednesday's they partner with a local donut maker, The Hole Donuts, to have fresh made donuts available. On Friday's they have a partnership with Sway-Rey, a local cupcake shop, and offer cupcake and tea pairings. This location also serves Kahwa coffee. A great addition to St. Pete!
google avatar

Jennifer M.

Yelp
I am obsessed with their Sweet Cream Banana Fog tea, so much so I bought a large tin to take back with me to Connecticut. I like the Station St.Pete location better than the one in Tampa. Bigger and not as crowded. My partner needed to do some work on his laptop and place we were staying had no wifi. As it turns out this is also the perfect place to work or study. This place is a must for all good or budding tea enthusiasts.
google avatar

Azariah U.

Yelp
Best tea shop ever! Love the gorgeous atmosphere, the tea is delicious, and has is such a fun vibe.my cousin and I noted how at most tea places there is a somewhat unappealing aftertaste but with TeBella tea it is clean tasting and simply yummy.
google avatar

Nancy P.

Yelp
Love this whole building. A great place to sit and do work in a beautiful, inspiring atmosphere. I love tea, and this place has an amazing selection. I went with a traditional oolong. And women behind the counter were helpful, friendly and patient with my questions. Unfortunately they only have to go cups, which are paper, but still uses plastic lids. I tried to 'go topless' requesting no lid, but she put one on anyway, out of habit I guess. The tea was delicious though
google avatar

Erin Y.

Yelp
This TeBella location that is in Station House is absolutely beautiful! I love the atmosphere, and the tea selection is the best in St. Pete. They handpick their tea's from around the world and create their own custom blends. The staff is very knowledgeable about their products and fun to talk to. The vibe of Station House is super laid back, and it's a nice place to get some work done or just hang out with friends. I highly recommend this space for tea, Kahwa coffee, co-working, yoga, event space, and more.
google avatar

Tara D.

Yelp
Te Bella has a diverse and enticing selection of tea and herbal varieties. They have black, white, green, maté, matcha, oolong and herbal teas. If you are not a tea fan, no worries; they have a full espresso bar using Kahwa coffee and espresso. They also serve delicious baked goods including croissants, scones, biscotti, and cookies. If you're looking for something a little heavier, they offer a selection of quiche and sandwiches for breakfast or a light lunch. I had the tomato basil mozzarella quiche. It was warmed up perfectly, and full of flavor. Scrumptious! Te Bella is a vendor for several local treats too- Pinellas Chocolate, Hyppo Gourmet Ice Pops, and Honey Feast Honey. The barista was friendly and happily answered my questions. The ample indoor and outdoor seating is comfortable and inviting. Te Bella is an open store front within the gorgeous space on the 2nd floor of Station House DTSP. It is a beautiful with a combination of chic, modern and vintage fixtures, decor and furniture. It's the perfect place for meeting with friends, conduct a short business meeting or sit with a book or your laptop. The prices are comparable to other tea and coffee shops. You can even get 10% off at Te Bella with participation in some of the yoga classes held at Station House.

Yelp
very cozy place. love the tea selection and the eclectic decor. its a perfect place to relax and read during my lunch break since its right across the street.

Yelp
Loved the atmosphere here ,it's a beautiful place and the barista was awesome ,my only complaint is the paper cups ! Delicious coffee and tea should be in glasses /mugs not to go paper cups

Kana T.

Yelp
I don't actually like tea. But this place has a great vibe and definitely a good place to hang out and do homework. There is plenty of space for seating and food options. Definitely will come back with some friends!

Helen H.

Yelp
Beautiful building, I would spend all day here! Amazing tea and great coffee! In love with this place! I am not writing more bc I'm in a hurry but trust me and go!

Nick H.

Yelp
I am new to St Pete and decided to stop into this location while perusing downtown. The entire operation was remarkable from the layout of the tea's/snacks to the friendly guy working. He was very patient and informative. While waiting for the beverage, he was extremely affable and welcoming. Great work hiring this gentleman and we will be back! Thanks TeBella!
