Really, really, really wish I could give this place 4 stars. But, I just can't. I don't normally write negative reviews, but this one stuck in my craw. I've been dreaming about a meal at a Brennan's family restaurant for months since we planned our trip. And I was pretty let down. I'm not stranger to fine dining, but also enjoy a good greasy spoon. I've had better service at both levels of establishment unfortunately. First of all, they didn't have our reservation when we arrived. Thankfully, there were tables available. We were seated promptly and I do appreciate that. However the level of service ended there. We were served by what felt like 3 different people. It felt very disjointed. My salad arrived and was delicious and fresh, my husband had the onion soup and it was flavorful but the temperature was just above "warm". I ordered fish and he shrimp, both were delicious and pipping hot, however the time between our salad/soup being picked up and our meal arriving was poorly timed/slow. We both had to request our ice tea be refilled. And at the end of the meal the maitre D' had come to ask us how the meal was and if we wanted dessert. Back to the my dreaming of a brennan's family dinner... To me this culminates in bananas foster. Which we requested and my husband asked for coffee. Coffee was promptly brought, to both of us (I did not order coffee). A few minutes later the maitre D' came to ask if the coffee was hot enough. It was, but if you have to ask, is it hot enough? Probably not. We waited. And waited. And waited. And waited. No one ever brought us the dessert we ordered, which I been so longingly waiting for. And then we waited some more, to the point we both got on our cell phones for entertainment and I began writing this review. We never did get that bananas foster, and it took so long to get our check we thought it may never come. Our last night in New Orleans was definitely not the fine dining highlight we had hoped it would be... I'll be looking to another family of restaurants on my subsequent trips to the city.
