"Ted Brennan’s Decatur has closed temporarily. The restaurant, which opened in August, has faced numerous challenges, including financial difficulties and a deep freeze that affected many businesses in NOLA. The owners plan to reopen the establishment, aiming for Mardi Gras." - Alison Baitz

Probably the best combination of food and service I've ever received at a restaurant. While we did have some minor process issues – the overall experience was amazing. Would strongly recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting to experience excellent food, a relaxed environment and great service.

Really, really, really wish I could give this place 4 stars. But, I just can't. I don't normally write negative reviews, but this one stuck in my craw. I've been dreaming about a meal at a Brennan's family restaurant for months since we planned our trip. And I was pretty let down. I'm not stranger to fine dining, but also enjoy a good greasy spoon. I've had better service at both levels of establishment unfortunately. First of all, they didn't have our reservation when we arrived. Thankfully, there were tables available. We were seated promptly and I do appreciate that. However the level of service ended there. We were served by what felt like 3 different people. It felt very disjointed. My salad arrived and was delicious and fresh, my husband had the onion soup and it was flavorful but the temperature was just above "warm". I ordered fish and he shrimp, both were delicious and pipping hot, however the time between our salad/soup being picked up and our meal arriving was poorly timed/slow. We both had to request our ice tea be refilled. And at the end of the meal the maitre D' had come to ask us how the meal was and if we wanted dessert. Back to the my dreaming of a brennan's family dinner... To me this culminates in bananas foster. Which we requested and my husband asked for coffee. Coffee was promptly brought, to both of us (I did not order coffee). A few minutes later the maitre D' came to ask if the coffee was hot enough. It was, but if you have to ask, is it hot enough? Probably not. We waited. And waited. And waited. And waited. No one ever brought us the dessert we ordered, which I been so longingly waiting for. And then we waited some more, to the point we both got on our cell phones for entertainment and I began writing this review. We never did get that bananas foster, and it took so long to get our check we thought it may never come. Our last night in New Orleans was definitely not the fine dining highlight we had hoped it would be... I'll be looking to another family of restaurants on my subsequent trips to the city.

The menu here looked very good with traditional meals and it was someplace new to try. They had some problems starting up and no one would answer the phone, so I wasn't sure they were open. I finally got someone early afternoon and was told they were open for business that evening. They should have stayed closed. I ordered the Oysters Rockefeller. They looked beautiful; large, plump oysters with a nice sauce. However, they were over ladened with Pernod where the alcohol had not been cooked out. I do not like the taste of raw alcohol in food. Next came the entree.....a prime filet, which was prepared like the Filet Stanley in the original Brennan's restaurant. I ordered the filet medium rare and it came out dry and medium. The server took it back and out comes another one the same way. By now I'm done..... obviously medium rare was not going to happen. The manager came over and offered complimentary desserts. One of my favorites is Crepes Fitzgerald, another Brennan's throwback. Sorry, no strawberries so I had to order the crepes with the same filling, but chocolate, whipped cream and almonds. The crepe was as thick as a tortilla, the whip cream was fake and no almonds. I really felt sorry for our waiter Ron. He comes from the original Brennan's and you could tell that he had the skills of the old line waiters that is so missing today. Too bad, this could have been an excellent restaurant if they had only opened after they had worked out all of the problems.

Place isn't open. Even though open table took my reservation. We showed up and found some legal conflict going on as evidenced by the locked doors, nobody present, and notices stuck to the window
