Yelp
I've been coming to Teddy's Cocina on a pretty regular basis since they opened across the street from the PCC Library. I've come to appreciate their quality Mexican food, a big step above the chain restaurant alternative a block down the street.
Since I'm a vegetarian, my options are somewhat limited -- I wish they had a veggie rice option. Here are the things I do tend to order:
Vegetarian quesadilla: I like that this quesadilla comes with good quality grilled veggies, including jalapeños to lend some gentle heat. The Peruvian beans make the quesadilla more of a meal than a snack. The whole thing together is pretty delicious. It's what I order most often.
Tostada salad: it normally comes with meat, but I ask them to throw on some grilled veggies instead. Plenty of lettuce, cucumber, onion, corn and beans make this a decent lunch choice. The cilantro lime dressing is pretty good as well.
Tacos: I've ordered various combinations of their potato and "el vegano" tacos. These are also tasty and are a good alternative when I don't want the mega-cheesy experience of a quesadilla!
Salsa: Although it's their mildest salsa, I usually get the verde just because I prefer green salsa. But they have a few other choices at varying levels of heat, and they're all good. I recommend trying more than one to see what you prefer.
Service is prompt and courteous, and the restaurant is always clean and inviting if you plan to eat in. Expect a bit of a wait if you're there during lunchtime when PCC classes are in session, but it's never out of hand.
I recommend Teddy's Cocina if you are near PCC and are looking for good Mexican food in a casual setting or for take-out. There's no reason to go to that big chain on the next block when you've got Teddy's right there!
