Yelp
Oh boy...I wanted to take my wife somewhere new for Mother's Day's breakfast, we tend to haunt the same old places most of the time. I looked around Yelp for ideas and happened upon Ted's Bulletin. Okay, sez I, I'm willing to give it a try. And she is always willing to tag along for a free meal so...
We got there and I parked easily by the garage across from Trader Joe's. I got a little turned around by the map and we ended up walking around the long way but we got there. It wasn't yet very crowded when we arrived so I was pleased. Beautiful restaurant, friendly staff, good omen.
We were seated and looked over the menu. The waiter appeared out of nowhere, and with a smile he asked if we'd like to start with the cinnamon roll. Okay, sez I, go on then do your worst. I wasn't expecting to start with a cinnamon roll but the lady doth have a sweet tooth.
We placed our order, she wanted the Huevos Rancheros and I fancied the Farmer's Omelet. In a puff of faintly cologne-scented vapor he disappeared, then suddenly reappeared as though stepping through a dimensional portal, with a pot of coffee, two tiny pots of cream, a cabbage-sized cinnamon roll with a genie's lamp of sticky sweet topping, and a toothy smile. "I'm from Peru" he purred. "If you come back for dinner sometime you must try the roasted half-chicken...it is excellent." Even though we are vegetarian I think we will consider it based on his recommendation.
Our orders arrived before we could finish tearing the exquisite pastry to pieces. He glanced at the massacred mess and with a pleased smiled asked if we liked it. Aye! sez I, and I don't even eat sweets very often!
We found our meal to be top-notch, blue ribbon, 5-stars. We agreed that this will become a regular of ours, even though it is quite a drive. The only thing more appreciated about the experience was the excellent waiter. An artist. A gentleman. I bumped my tip higher than usual, and think that maybe I should have splurged and matched the price of the meal. The entire experience was worth it.
