Ted's Montana Grill

Well it was my sister's pre celebration birthday dinner and I treated her to where she used to work at in the Glenview location. This is the last Ted Montana's and my sister wanted to eat their signature food. I've been to the Glenview location but that's been more than 10 years. Anyways I had the bison short ribs it was mouth watering delicious. Very moist with my carrots and garlic mashed potatoes. The bison chili I ordered was wonderful. I also ordered an apple crisp for dessert. My sister gave me a sample of her bison filet and it was delicious. The crab cakes my sister friend order she said it was delicious with kale and fresh broccoli. Ambiance was nice and romantic despite it's a group dinner. I would come back to boilingbrook but this would be for special occasion

I ordered the Bison ribs and Huckleberry martini totaling $46. I wasn't expecting such a small glass nor was I expecting only one rib, which was disappointing. My dish was smaller than my friends bison meatloaf dish. My food was OK, nothing over the top. The prices are a bit high for the portions. I live down the street and this was my first time here. We were the last people in the restaurant. We reserved a booth at 6 and left at 930pm. Waitress left our table filled with plates, the bills, and glasses. She never cleaned the table for us and we sat there an extra 1.5 hours after charging out. We were the only people still at the restaurant since 8pm. It cleared out fast. Atmosphere was nice. Waitress was ok.

Warm atmosphere, soft lighting at the tables. We were given a complimentary dish of seasoned cucumbers which was very good. Server was very polite and fast. Food was great. Very pleased with the bison cuts of meat. Garlic mashed potatoes was excellent. We're glad we stopped in and tried Ted's Montana Grill.

Arlene was an amazing server. She made us feel welcome and did not rush us. She never let our glasses empty and made sure we had everything we needed. The Bison filet was very tender and cooked perfectly. I highly recommend making this a stop if you eat in town.

Bison ribeye rare was a pleasant surprise. Extremely tender, melted in my mouth. One of the best steaks I've had in a long time, no wonder they were over hunted! The sides were underwhelming in comparison, but you could tell it was all fresh. We also split a plate of nachos and the apple crisp crumble, both of which were truly fantastic.

Tried this place out and I was pleasantly surprised. The nachos were good, bison burgers were delicious! Cherry lemonade was sooo good! Great local spot, hope to go again soon!

It was a rainy day out and I decided to come in for a quick burger I was craving. The menu has lots of options for different types of burgers and they offer a bison sample to try! Jenny was super helpful in deciding a good burger for me and the meat ended up really well cooked and delicious! Would definitely come again.

I went for lunch, there is an interesting menu. The lump crab cakes had large chunks of crab. The onion rings were good. The service was very slow, the food was cold when it arrived.

Our family had a great experience at Ted's. Keith our server was spot on from taking our order, making sure we had everything we needed and was pleasant and friendly. We enjoyed the 8 oz. As a steak house, absolutely delicious. Different cuts of bison and beef. They also have seafood and poultry options as well. Everything was delicious but nothing special service wise, even if it's a special occasion. Cocktails were alright, lemon drop martini wasn't very good. Happy they were accommodating to side changes. The Inside is super peaceful and private, they also offer outdoor seating as well. Overall hit the marks but wasn't anything over the top!

Jarrod our server was a Texas gentleman. Engaging, attentive and knowledgeable! When we made the reservation they asked for any additional info. We let them know a Gluten free guest was coming and the menu was on table when seated! Wow! The salmon was cooked to perfection. Seasoned perfectly and the asparagus was yummy!! The bison smashburger was delicious and onion rings so tasty. Red sangria was perfect and the orangle vanilla cosmos was delicious. I am thrilled with entire experience. Also the culinary manager was so kind and came over to check on our dinner experience. Cant wait to come back

I waited 35 minutes on my food to find out they were actually out of what I ordered. The people beside me sent their food back two times. Maybe they were just picky??? I ate here a couple of nights ago and the food was fine. The staff just can't handle the rush. The food is fine. The service is not.

Always great food and service. Had their Happy Hour slider today, the perfect afternoon snack. This place is a must try !

We haven't been to Ted's in a while, but after this last experience, I do not think that my family and I will be back. First, the hostess seated us in a booth in the back of the restaurant next to the bathroom, when there were other booths available. The restaurant was not crowded. Second, the food wasn't anything to write home about. My mother ordered the chili as the entree and immediately sent it back. The "chili" was cloaked with French fries and bread and actual chili was sparse. The waiter was nice, but his service was lackluster- no enthusiasm. I also saw the hostess playing with her hair in the back near the kitchen area, and did not see her wash her hands prior to going back on the main floor to prepare tables. We used to adore Ted's, but this experience was left much to be desired-- from the seating, service and the food.

FOOD GETS 5 STARS.. Service...wellllllll it was odd. One person brought our water..another person took our order. Another one brought our food to us...Another person cleared our dirty plates. Still had to ask for water and that was all we were drinking. We had the chicken tortilla soup Very good but I'd appreciate it if they filled the cup! I had the Swiss and mushrooms bison burger. Very tasty. Hubs had the bison meatloaf, which he thoroughly enjoyed. We shared a vanilla ice cream and snickerdoodle cookie dessert..

Ate at the Bolingbrook location and had a really good meal. Pricy but the filet was Cooke perfectly and the appetizers were all good. (crab cakes and shrimp). Best part of the dinner was our server Bri. She was attentive and helpful. She knew the menu and made some good recommendations. Bri was fantastic. Will definitely come back.

Food was above average. Had the burger which was cooked as ordered. I think they are understaffed, we waited at the front for a few minutes before being seated. Took awhile for the waiter to come to our table to take our order. Waited longer than expected for food to arrive. The inside is decorated nicely

The bison burger was an interesting experience similar to beef but different in texture. It was a good change up and was super juicy. The fries were also pretty solid and service was very friendly and inviting.

Yeeh -haaaaw! Pardon me for such a Montana greeting BUT... this place has me lacing up my spurs and heading for the mountains! Whoa, let's start from the beginning... On this day, we had lunch at Ted's Montana Grill and let me tell you, this place is more than impressive. So, let's start by saying that this place is beautiful. Not in a modern, ice cold techno, frigid kinda way. This place reminds me of what a 1920's speakeasy would look like. It's decorated with dark, yet warm and well appointed wood and light, slightly off white colors. This is paired with some of the BEST service received recently. From the warm welcome at the door, to the incredibly professional, yet delightfully intimate server, our experience was top notch. We opted for some of their very popular burgers. Bison Burgers. Yes. Bison. We ordered the GEORGE'S CLASSIC CADILLAC Bison burger, topped with BBQ sauce, cheddar, bacon, served with a 2 types of lettuce, tomato and purple onion. The bacon... the bacon was probably the BEST bacon I have EVER tasted. I review food, and I have had a tried a lot of bacon, but this bacon makes you wanna cowboy up and head for Montana! Very well balanced burger and the fresh gamey flavor of the bison were a starting delicious surprise. This came with garlic mashed potatoes that were also perfect. We also ordered the AVALON topped with gruyère, blue cheese, bacon, caramelized onions, roasted garlic aioli and baby arugula. I tell you... Blue cheese is hard to pair successfully. Not here. It was fantastic! The exotic combo of the cheeses, bacon and arugula combined with a smear of mayo and mustard and WOW! It's like a stick of flavor dinamite went boom in your taste buds. We chose the 50/50 Onion rings and fries and could not have been happier. After devouring both burgers we did not have room for dessert, which we now regret with choices like Kahlua fudge Brownie and 2 adult shakes with Kahlua, vodka and Jack Daniel's. The menu is WAY larger than dozen or so burgers, with some impressive seafood and steaks and some striking bison dishes. But that's a story for another time...

AVOID AT ALL COSTS IF YOU HAVE A FOOD ALLERGY. We notified our waitress of an extreme food allergy to avacado. After making sure she understood everything seemed to be going well until our food came. My daughter was taking her first bite when a server came up to her with a diced avacado in a bowl and thrust it into her personal space above her food. The food delivery person could not begin to fathom why this was a problem and kept trying to explain that it wasn't her fault. This easily could have created a life threatening situation. My daughter's family immediately fled the restaurant in case there was any cross contamination with anyone else's food as well. When I spoke to the manager she also tried to explain and blow off the error. She had the gaul to compare my daughters 3 epipen life threatening allergy attacks to her relative with celiac. Our family dinner was completely ruined by the lack of attention to detail. Please don't risk your life or potential illness with this place.

The menu was pretty straightforward and the star is their bison burgers. By featuring the biggest bison menu in the world, Ted's Montana Grill has made bison a popular menu choice today in dining, providing incentive for ranchers to actively grow their herds. We were given some bison to sample, just to taste the difference and it as pretty clear... the flavor of bison is a clean and intense flavor of beef. It's not as fatty but even with bison being leaner than beef, it wasn't dry. We kicked off our dinner with onion rings. What we were served were clearly the biggest onion rings I've ever encountered! They were huge sweet vidalia onions dipped in buttermilk, seasoned and then hand-breaded in a fine cracker crumb before frying up to a golden brown. They were served with a horseradish sauce and were so crisp and flavorful without falling apart like many other onion rings I've tried. One order will easily feed a table of 4. We didn't have any difficulty deciding on what to order - bison burgers, of course! They offer a few different ones on their menu - 18 to be exact - and there is something for everyone. I went with their Avalon Burger, which consisted of Gruyere cheese, blue cheese, bacon caramelized onions, roasted garlic aioli and baby arugula. This burger was so flavorful with all the toppings complimenting it perfectly. My husband also had a bison burger and opted for their Blue Creek burger. This burger was topped with blue cheese and bacon, with lettuce, tomato and onion on the side. Both burgers were served with seasoned fries, which were also very good. And just went we thought we were full, we were given a dessert menu. But who could resist even taking a look at dessert regardless of how full you may be? We indulged with the tallest strawberry shortcake which was a great ending to the meal. Overall, our meal and service was outstanding. I'm thankful that good, quality bison burgers are closer than I previously thought.

Had dinner here for the 2nd time; this time brought a date. We shared the bison nachos which were wonderful; the chili they use on them was very tasty. My guy had the bison meatloaf sandwich and I had what's quickly becoming my "usual" - Ted's Filet (bison tenderloin), garlic mashed potatoes, and asparagus. We shared dessert - which was a special that evening - an apple and walnut pastry topped with vanilla ice cream. This location is about 40 minutes from me (my date lives much closer) but I don't mind the drive because I love the food. And, Bass Pro is right next door which makes the trip even more worthwhile. I highly recommend Ted's.

Our waitress was awesome and the food was delicious. We had a great time, we went in a few hours before the Super Bowl so the service was exceptional.

This has become our routine place when we want a great burger. We've tried areas in downtown Naperville that are supposed to be super fancy burgers and in general those have been hit or miss. I've almost universally had awesome bison burgers every time I come to Ted's. Quick and friendly service and you can actually get a reservation. Highly recommend it. Their fries and onion rings are also awesome.

We had a great time. Our server was fun and really appeared to enjoy her job. She recommended a dish (Bison Burger - Avalon) and it was really good. I recommend the 50/50 for a side. 1/2 fries and 1/2 onion rings. Delicious.

Ted's your food quality has gone done . Just picked up 2 salmon ceasar salad and it's full of Brown lettuce. The lettuce is rotten and should not have been served .

Felt like the food and service was average. Burger wasn't super warm and fries were not my favorite. Nice environment and easy parking though.

Amazing margaritas and friendly bar staff. Bison nachos are the best. Can't wait to go back.

I love this place my brother has crutches so his broke and he has a disability where he can't really walk without crutches so the waitress let us take the front seat which was nice of her the outside was great we came from IKEA and my dad asked my mom what do you want for dinner and my mom said we can try this place. Everyone was nice the waitress asked us do you want cherry lemonade. The bison was great I had a burger love the side choices. It was by a mall the scenery was great it looks like a nice forest the place was packed with costumers they had trees and it looked exactly like a Montana place loved coming here

We were on our way to an event, and were looking for something along the way for dinner. My wife selected this place. First off, Monday is a great day to go to Ted's Montana Grill in Bolingbrook. We walked in right around 5:00 pm, and the place had plenty of seats. It wasn't empty - it had a stream of people coming, eating and going, but it wasn't slammed. The menu is pretty diverse, including a beef filet and a bison filet. I went for the bison filet, which isn't advertised as tasting gamey, but with more flavor. My wife went for their bison meatloaf - she likes meatloaf, and this was a good sized portion of it. For sides, I had a loaded baked potato, and they ask you what to load it with so I went with sour cream, butter, chives and that was it. My wife had their vegetables. The steak and meatloaf arrived - I ordered the steak medium rare, which was how it was served. The baked potato was properly cooked and wasn't hard. My wife enjoyed her meatloaf, she gave me a taste - yes, it tasted like meatloaf. She really liked her veggies. The tables are covered with a northwest territory map paper, which was a nice touch. When the tables are cleared a new piece of paper is applied. The interior is a lot of wood and paneling, not quite dark but comfortable. The seating in the booth was comfortable, and the service was good. My only mistake was eating before I took pictures. Darn. Sorry.

So I drop my wife off to get a booth at lunch time while I park. The guy doing the seating tries to seat her in the bar even though only one booth was occupied. So she says she doesn't want to sit in the bar and he marches her past all those empty booths and seats her in the last one, right next to the restrooms. When I come in I take one look, flag down a waitress and ask for a different booth, which we get. And then they bring our salad and main courses at the same time. Revenge? Anyway the food was great as usual (hence the three stars - also excellent waitress) but management needs to do some training in customer relations.

Food meh. Came out of kitchen barely lukewarm. Mashed potatoes were chunky whereas in past were truly mashed. Service was meh. No excitement of wait staff or servers just going through the motions. Ambiance is outdated now - they could use a refresh of everything! The cook, wait staff, decor, etc. we felt like our hot food was not freshly prepared but instead made ahead and tried to do a reheat. For the price paid, not worth it to go to this restaurant. No one says thank you.

Our group ordered the braised bison, bison meat loaf, and a kids bison steak. The braised bison ribs and steak were good and well prepared. Our meat loaf was dry and lacked flavor. Our mashed potatoes were super lumpy with large pieces of potato. Side orders of carrots were ok. Our server was average and returned twice to the table.

I came here with one of my high school teachers whomI haven't seen in over a decade. It was such a cozy, warm environment, and the service was exceptional. I love it that the interior had this rustic old school feel. They really thought about the decor - have never been to Montana but that's what I'd expect from the place I suppose. The actual steak was stringy and not the best quality. The sides were well-prepared though. Will be back!

Update 31Aug24. Sent Email regarding bad experience to Yelp was contacted via reply from Ted's Montana Grill in Bolingbrook IL location Jessica Smith Corp. Rep and she invited my Wife who is a breast cancer Survivor and can't eat anything regarding her bad meal at Ted's Montana Grill and sent Jessica Smith an email on August 6th, 2024 never got a response from Jessica Smith. After 3 and half weeks glad I didn't hold my breath. Yesterday 30August24, I called the Bolingbrook location and left a message with Natasha for the Manager to call me nothing no call back. It's a reason why Restaurants dont do well. Either Bad food or bad customer service. This place has both. Save your money go elsewhere. What has happened to Decency in today's Pre-Fab phoney World. God's Blessings

Had a lovely birthday dinner with a friend. We enjoyed salads, bison burger and a filet. All were perfect. Our server Yolanda was Wonderful and working very hard on a busy night. Great food, amazing service.

We used to go to the Naperville location of Ted's all the time (R.I.P.), so for my dad's birthday he wanted to come here: still not far, and of course the menu is the same. Everyone enjoyed their meals: ribeye steaks, filet mignon and bison short ribs. For dessert we split the berry cheesecake and strawberry shortcake (both were tasty but I preferred the latter). The restaurant was not busy when we got there, but there was a lot of noise going on in the kitchen that could be heard at our table (yelling/singing). Overall, Ted always provides a good steak, so we'll be back.

We dined February 15th and it was absolutely delicious. We stumbled upon this place while waiting for our movie time. The atmosphere is romantic yet family friendly. The service was knowledgeable, attentive, and very friendly. The food was outstanding. I had blackened mahi mahi and my boyfriend had a bison burger. So incredibly fresh and flavorful. We will definitely return.

Just about everything was lousy. Service, food had no taste Then all servers that I could overhear were swearing at one point about one thing or another.

decent parking. spacious outdoor seating options. We had a party of seven. Everyone loved their orders, and the service was rock solid. I ordered the Bison ribeye, medium rare, with 50/50 onion rings and fries, plus kale salad as my sides. Nary a complaint from anyone. Everyone fully enjoyed their orders, which ranged from Bison Ribeyes, Bison NY Strip, beef Ribeye, and even chicken tenders. Will definitely return. We've eaten at Ted's MG several times before. Including the Naperville location, which is now closed. If I recall, I usually ordered the Bison burger, which was always very good. Surely we'll be back.

The worst Entree salad I ever had. We went t Monday night at 7:30 pm. The restaurant was 95% empty. yet they placed us near the kitchen. Food was horrible. 20 $ for a salad that had barely 50cents of ingredients that included tiny 8 cubes of chicken, and water for salad dressing. Even the chips were soggy. I had to look for the waiter to get a second glass of wine before our dinner ended. It is at the top of my list of restaurants never to go again!

This place has been so consistently great for years. You can't got wrong with any of the burgers or the milkshakes. The ambiance is so cool and definitely transports you to a different time. Great place

I came here for the steaks, but I stayed for the service. After accidentally looking at the sun during the Solar Eclipse, my eyes were quite sore. Thankfully, LANEy, was so kind of enough to help me read the menu, while also ensuring that this meal would make up for my silly-blinding-mistake, literally. I'm not coming back for the steaks, next time I'm coming for the service. Made the steak taste so much better!

The server was outstanding, going above my expectations. She was great, remembering the little things and making up for kitchen shortcomings! For some reason, I had high hopes for this place. The food was definitely worth a second visit. So many burgers to choose from are on the menu, including beef, bison, and veggie. Our burgers were all devoured. Those onion rings are pretty tasty. I'm glad each one tasted freshly made. Oh....I'm a fan of the fresh-squeezed lemonade (free refills!). One issue...the temps on the burgers were not cooked per request. Mine was slightly over cooked. On a bison burger, that means it can taste dried out. Someone else had a well done burger twice, but requested medium. In spite of this issue, the server took care and the manager was responsive. That's all you can ask, and will bring us back for more.

We try to go there every few months & have never been disappointed. The food is amazing, excellent service, and the atmosphere is always pleasant. It is a bit pricey, but well worth it.

We were looking for a different spot to have lunch when we came across this restaurant, and we're so happy we did. The hamburgers were wonderful and the home made pickles were delicious. We had a great server by the name of Yolanda and she made us feel like we're family. We never felt rushed and we were able to finish our lunch in peace and quiet. We definitely will be back!!!

The first red flag was that this restaurant was nearly empty on a Saturday night. We asked for a booth, but were told they were all reserved. Even with a nearly empty restaurant, they were still understaffed as service was extremely slow and some of the food was cold. It is very expensive for the quality of food you get. Our burgers were overcooked, and absolutely nothing, and I mean nothing, had any seasoning. Even the pickles they serve before dinner were tasteless - just soaked in salt water. The bison burgers were about $20, give or take a few dollars, and tasted like more like a $5 burger. The bread was dry. The guacamole had no seasoning. The fries had no salt. Disappointing because we hadn't eaten all day and were very hungry.

My fiancee and I were extremely hungry after a long morning of wedding planning, and decided that a good ole-fashioned American meal was in order... because why not! Ted's is conveniently located in the corner of the Bolingbrook Promenade near Bass Pro Shop. I've been a huge fan of Ted's for a while - I truly believe they serve up one of the best authentic bison burger and fry combos for a commercial chain. We both had bison burgers and fries for lunch. I ordered mine with cheddar because, in my opinion, bison burgers can only be eaten with cheddar - cheddar is better! Price-wise, I believe the burger was $14 - a bit expensive, but I expect to pay more for bison. Additionally, while it is an unfortunate thing, I have grown accustomed to paying higher prices for burgers in sit-down restaurants these days. Moreover, I still maintain that Ted's has one of the best Arnold Palmer drinks in the business - crisp, sweet, and refreshing all served in a glass with crushed ice. Lauren, our server, was extremely welcoming accommodating during our entire dining experience. She even made sure to pick us the largest chocolate chip cookie that they still had. It was truly yummy! Atmosphere-wise, Ted's reminds me of an old saloon. It definitely allows me to think I'm in a different era when I dine in. All in all, two thumbs up!

I like a good steakhouse. Been to Ted's a few times. I like the low lighting. This last time I had a ribeye. The service was fast. The waitress had experience processing the airline meal vouchers, which made a bad trip a little more convenient. The highlight of the trip was the steakhouse.

not only was the food delicious but the service was great! I took my two buddies here for their first time and our waitress Madie gave us the best service. Not only did she explain the menu well but she recommended her favorites which we tried and they were great! She could even tell that we were all catching up having a good time so she through some jokes in there as well which is what made the service even better! We will be returning soon and requesting her!
