My wife and I went for Valentine's Day. I made a reservation for 6:45P.. when we arrived about 10 minutes early we were seated early which was awesome. Our waiter Justice was great . Very pleasant and attentive. Food was excellent. Cool place overall.. Would visit again.

We went to TEd's Montana Grill for my birthday. It was the July 4th weekend and waas not at all crowded. We were seated promptly and the waiter was at the table with menus right away. They are known for their Bison dishes but have beef as well. They have a gluten free menu. They carry GF hamburger buns for $1 extra. I had Bison spare ribs with buttered carrots and garlic mashed potatoes. My family had Bison and beef steaks. The spare ribs fell off the bone and reminded me of a good pot roast. The only negative was all of our entres had too much salt added. This was not the norm however and may have just been a random occurance. Ted's has a full bar and plenty of seating. They are located in the Waverly shopping center off Providence. Definately worth checking out for yourself. For three entres' we spent Around $130.00.

I recently had the chance to experience Ted’s Montana Grill in Waverly as a hosted guest, and this scratch-made kitchen delivers on flavor. Ted’s is a smaller national chain with about 38 locations, but they focus on quality ingredients and an elevated take on American comfort food. Bison is the star of the show. I started with a tasting of several appetizers and complementary house pickles. While Ted’s isn’t a seafood spot, they still served up a solid St. Phillip’s Island Crab Cake. It had minimal filler, which I appreciated, but I prefer a lumpier texture and a bigger portion. That said, this is a meat restaurant, so let them shine with their strengths. The Bison Nachos were dangerously good. They are gluten-free and absolutely smothered in cheese and bison meat. I had to pace myself because I knew more food was coming, but these could easily be a meal on their own. The Grilled Shrimp on Ciabatta was another great starter. The shrimp were plump and juicy, seasoned with Ted’s proprietary blend, and served on garlic-toasted ciabatta with lemon compound butter. I normally do not like cauliflower, but the Cauliflower Fritters completely won me over. These cheesy, crispy bites were incredibly addicting. I kept going back for more. This dish is a chef’s special, so it is not always on the menu, but if you see it, order it. Ted’s is known for its bison burgers, so I had to try a couple. The Smash Burger is a limited-time chef’s special available until March 16, 2025. It comes with American cheese, spicy pickles, and a scratch-made ranch onion dip. The flavor was spot on, but I prefer a little more caramelization and crispy edges on my smash burgers. I would still order it again. The Canyon Creek Burger takes things up a notch with cheddar cheese, bacon, jalapeño, blackberry jam, and a fried egg. The combination of smoky, sweet, and spicy flavors worked well together. The onion rings that came with it were some of the best I have had. Ted’s excels in bison dishes, and the Bison Short Ribs were a standout. The bones slid out clean, and the meat was incredibly tender. It came with mashed potatoes, broccoli, and a house roll for the perfect comfort meal. The Bison Filet was another highlight. I ordered it medium rare, and it was cooked perfectly. Bison has a richer, slightly sweeter taste than beef, and this filet was exceptionally tender. I paired it with carrots and asparagus, which balanced the richness nicely. I always save room for dessert, the Kahlua Fudge Brownie which was served hot from the oven with vanilla ice cream. I could have eaten five of these. No notes, just perfection. I was also told to try the Apple Pecan Crisp which was full of warm spiced fall flavors, with a buttery oat and pecan topping over tart Granny Smith apples. If you love cozy desserts, get this before it rotates off the menu for strawberry season. Ted’s Montana Grill has something for everyone. They are great at accommodating allergies, so let your server know and they will work directly with the chef. They also offer mocktails and non-alcoholic beverages, which is a nice touch. Next time you are in Waverly, you will probably find me at Ted’s.

Shantel was the greatest ever! So kind, friendly and attentive! I will ask for her the next time I go! Food was incredible, too! The birthday dessert was awesome!

Google
Food was fantastic! We were sat in a timely manner. Onion Rings were a great start, my salmon was even more amazing. My son had the bison ribeye and he loved it!!! Our server Jena was very nice. It was somewhat loud but no complaints otherwise. It’s a great location with a lot of shops around.

I've been to Ted's a couple of times now, and everytime I am there, the staff and the service are amazing. I particularly enjoyed Jacks service and kindness at the door. He nicely and attentively greeted us, asked where we would like to be seated (inside or outside), and promptly guided us to our table. Our server was amazing as well. As we left, Jack made sure to open the door for us and tell us that he hopes we had a great time, enjoyed the food, to have a great night, and to visit again. We will for sure be coming back!

Google
Me and my boyfriend came to visit out of town, and we were recommended to stop by Ted's Montana Grill. As we arrived, we were kindly greeted by the host, Jack, who had a kind smile on his face. He opened the door and welcomed us in. We nicely asked if we could have a booth, and even though we did not have a reservation, he guided us to a booth and we had our meal. Throughout the meal, Jack stopped by and asked us if we needed anything. Our server was very nice and attentive. At the end, as we were walking out, Jack made sure to open the door for us and wished us a well evening. We had the best dinner date and we will be visiting again soon! Thank you Ted's for your very kind hospitality, and thank you Jack for making our evening amazing.

Google
Food is not bad. They got bison, that looks tasty. Wasn't feeling it so had the chicken, which was a little dry. Very close to the Hilton.

Yelp
Recently experienced Ted's Montana Grill the other day, and it was fantastic. Very spacious & nice restaurant. The service was somewhat iffy towards the end, though spectacular at the beginning. Our host was accommodating and respectful, even taking the time to introduce himself. Jack, if I remember correctly. Asked us how our day had been going and whatnot when taking us to a table. Told us to make a review if the service was of satisfactory, and it definitely was to my standards. Figured I should. I ordered a Bacon Cheeseburger with a side of fries. My wife ordered the Delmonico Ribeye. Both were very nicely done and of satisfactory to the both of us. Certainly a place I'd like to revisit again in the future with my family, because they also had a great time.

Yelp
I typically only stop in when the urge for a Bison Ribeye calls.. but every time it does, this place answers.. only wish they would get rid of the paper straws.. I would pay extra for a normal straw and the only reason it's 4 instead of 5 stars but it's sad because they deserve 5 stars, except for this good awful paper straws..

Yelp
love coming here for a chill good dinner. the staff is always lovely and it's always a good time.

Yelp
Very spacious restaurant in the midst of this outdoor shopping and dining area. Our table of 5 had some allergies and they were pretty attentive to it and even brought the chef out to see what items would be allergy free. I ordered the bison nachos as a starter and it was good but not a whole lot of bison. The huckleberry mule was pretty good, not too sweet. I went with the bison short ribs and they were good but would have hoped it was less saucy. The mashed potatoes were good, the roll was not. I love bread but it was not a very good roll. I appreciated you could order a different side than the ones on the menu and so instead of buttered carrots I went for the parmesan broccoli. Large chunks of broccoli but it wasn't too overcooked and complimented the carbs and meat well. Service was a little bit spotty.

Yelp
This has to be one of the best burgers I've ever had. It tasted so fresh. The service was great!! The waitress was so nice! The environment was really good also! We didn't have a wait for lunch. Everything came out in a timely manner! We drove an hour to eat here and were not disappointed!!
google avatar

Garrison T.

Yelp
I ordered a fish sandwich. It was flaky and crunchy. It came with a crisp kale salad and cucumbers. The cucumbers were salty. The order was completed quickly. I asked for utensils and didn't receive them.

Yelp
Food was okay at best, no where near as good as it was a couple of years. Quality of food was below average and dessert was canned fruit not fresh

Yelp
Husband and I went for dinner to celebrate our birthdays. Aidan was our server. He gave good recommendations to answer my questions. He was seated a few tables in a short time, so he was quite busy, but remained steady in his service. The restaurant filled pretty quickly, but we were comfortable at our table, and it did not feel chaotic. Everyone seems to work well in the space. We always like the half-sours they bring to the table. I ate almost all of them this time. I ordered the bison ribeye with asparagus and mashed potatoes. Husband ordered the beef ribeye with caesar salad and mashed potatoes. That first bite of the bison ribeye confirmed it was a good choice. I did try my husband's, but liked mine better. Husband ordered a Newly Fashioned drink, and I got the Autumn Spiced Sour Martini. It definitely tasted like autumn to me. For our birthday desserts, we got a brownie and a cookie of the day (Snickerdoodle). The brownie was the perfect amount of fudgieness (not even a word?) and was a good size. Husband enjoyed his cookie, too. This is a bit of a drive for us, but it is worth it!

Wesley W.

Yelp
Bison ribeye was delicious but unfortunately they over cooked it, not so much that I sent it back. You may have... strange how the worst service is when a business is slow. Again not terrible or rude just mid.

Yelp
On Saturday night, we wandered in here and were seated immediately. The restaurant had a classy, steak house style ambiance. Our server, Dakota, was super nice, and all the other staff were equally kind. There was a nice selection of cocktails and wine. There was even a separate section for margaritas, so I had one of those. It was too sweet for me. I should've ordered wine or something. The star of the night for us was the bison nachos. We got full from them but look forward to finishing the rest of our leftovers today. My husband's NY strip was huge and cooked perfectly. My bison burger tasted lighter and less greasy than a beef burger. The bacon, veggies, and blue cheese toppings were generous. We had no room for dessert, but they had a variety of cheesecakes. The strawberry shortcake sounded like it was too decadent. We will be back for sure.

Yelp
The service and food were so amazing. This is probably one of the best salads I've ever had. The pickles they give you before your meal were so yummy. Its an acquired taste. Wish I was back in NC because I could eat this right now.

Yelp
A family member told me the food is great at this restaurant. Upon arriving, we were greeted in a very welcoming and friendly manner. The decor was appropriate for the type/style of restaurant it was. We were seated immediately, probably because we arrived when they first opened at 11 AM. Our server was absolutely the greatest. She explained everything to us and even provided us with samples of the bison prior to our order. I wound up ordering the meatloaf with garlic mashed potatoes and buttered carrots. The food wasn't seasoned at all, so I wound up having to add salt & pepper. I don't know if they intentionally do that to allow customers to season their own food, but nothing on my plate was seasoned. The food, once seasoned, was ok. I want to revisit to try the bison steak that our server recommended. So, give them a try. Overall, the experience wasn't bad.

Yelp
Amazing food and amazing service! Abby was very kind and helpful! Loved the bison chili!
google avatar

Joan R.

Yelp
Had dinner here with friends and enjoyed everything. The ambiance and atmosphere clean and confortable, an attentive waitress and a menu full of choices for bison and other non meat selections. We all ordered various types of Bison burgers. Mine was on a lettuce as I didn't want a bun even though they had a gluten free bun. The burgers came out cooked to order and tasty. The fries however were soft and we had initially ordered them to be extra crispy. The onion rings crispy. No problem and we soon got a replacement of extra crispy fries. We all enjoyed our meal . There is outside seating available. Prices reasonable, food came out hot and plated nicely. We would return.

Kristina H.

Yelp
The bison ribeye steak started off delicious, but the 2nd half was tough. It is as though was not cooked evenly, being that I had started with the delicious medium side I did not send back. If I would have started with the tough almost well side I would have sent back. How can the same steak taste so different???? Highlights of night were the cherry lemonade, brownie, and 1st half of steak. Why are the stems left on the asparagus?? Does bread come with meals? Not sure as I saw some plates with bread and some without.

Ward W.

Yelp
Mika is the best. Clam chowder was awesome. I love salmon and the asparagus. I'm a regular!!
google avatar

Yelp
A lot of promotion and hype around the new "Smash" burger. Sadly, the absolute worst (very expensive) hamburger I have ever had. They tout 3 slices of cheese, grilled onions and I was very excited to try it. However, There was no seasoning on the meat, almost no cheese and no onions. Do not waste your money
google avatar

Marni Jane V.

Yelp
The food was amazing and the service was exceptional. If you haven't had bison steak, I recommend Ted's! It doesn't end there. They have bison nachos, brisket and short rib.

Yelp
So NYE and we ordered Door Dash from Teds - It has a good reputation but it was not perfect . Roy ordered The Absolute Best Fish Sandwich with a Baked Potato with Everything. The Sandwich was good Not the best . Potato was a nice size. I had the 9 oz Salmon- it seemed small, served with a House Salad with Blue cheese Dressing and Garlic Mashed Potatoes. Salmon was not fishy but needed a sauce - pretty dry. The Mashed Potatoes were good . Everything was just okay - Not quite what I expected for close to 40.00

Nicolas V.

Yelp
Walked through the door no host was present, stood there for five minutes. When we were finally greeted, he asked me how many was there to be sat, instead of apologizing for our wait. We told him just the two of us and he seemed like he did not want to even be there. We were sat and greeted with a more friendly face. I believe her name was Shaintail (if i spelt it, wrong my apologizes). She was very welcoming and insured us that she was going to make our night right. We had seen an older gentleman roaming around the restaurant, I believe he was the manager. I tried to wave him over a few times to let him know how great our server was, but not the host. He seemed to be, like he was in his own world, so maybe that's where the host gets it from. If we come back we hope to be greeted with pleasure unlike tonight and will be sure to sit down with Shaintail again. The food we order was too expensive for something that taste worse than McDonalds. It took 30 minutes to finally come out; we were not too worried because our server kept checking on us and kept us entertained. We knew that it was not her fault, but for the pricing that Teds' is, the food should not have taken that long. All in all, we may try it out again because it may have been a bad night for them, but hopefully next time it will better.

Yelp
Neat location surrounded by many other dining options. I got the Avalon burger with onion rings and my partner ordered the bison fillet with mashed potatoes and carrots. The wait time at this restaurant is terrible, at least in our experience. It was a little over 25 minutes before we got our drinks and almost an hour before food hit the table. It was easy to see that they were understaffed, especially at the bar. My Mojito had zero sweetener or simple syrup in it, literally had to add a packet of sweetener just to enjoy it. Sending it back was not an option because it took forever and I wasn't about to add to the stress we could see brewing at the bar. We weren't notified that the kitchen had to 86 carrots until about five minutes before the food arrived. The filet was very rare, ordered medium rare. Our server was a bit talkative but pleasant and that helped time pass. The food was good!!... But the service needs help. Hopefully it is better next time we are in the area.

Yelp
People have different criteria on whether to patronize an establishment. Mine is food quality, Flavor and overall Experience. I'll say one thing about Teds, this is pretty much consistent with what you'd expect. Good steaks and meats. Good drinks and deserts. Solid appetizers. I mean that's real all there is to this place. If you're expecting something more, I'd say try somewhere else. But we went here expecting this and it was def up to par. They have pretty much everything made of bison. I'm not sure how locally sourced it is or how ethical it is but Bison can be good. I had the Bison Meatloaf. I didn't LOVE it but I took a calculated risk on it. One of my guys got the Bison Brisket which was much better. I had a bite of the bison Filet and you know what? I can see how ppl like it but I prefer beef on this one. The deserts were great. The Kahlua cake is a must. As is the crumble.

Yelp
We went here on a Saturday night. We made a reservation. They were busy so we waited an additional 20-30min. They have plenty of parking by the restaurant its a nice little area. Once we got seated our server was very nice and gave us suggestions on what to eat and drink. My fiancé was In the mood for bison and this place was the place to go. They had many bison options which was nice. He ended up getting the bison steak which he thought was delicious. I had the bison short rib which was tender and it came with Brussels sprouts and mashed potatoes. My food was good. It just came out a little colder than I liked it. We will be coming back.

Yelp
Loved our meal as always. More importantly our server Chantelle is one of the best servers we've had at any restaurant. We were blessed to have had her as a server several times!! Don't loose her!!!

Renee P.

Yelp
We went into Ted's on a rainy Monday and were greeted by Donnie. The food was good, but we were disappointed that the Bison Brisket tasted more like stew meat and the potatoes were chunky, not just lumpy. The service was outstanding. Donnie was attentive without being overbearing and in a time when customer service is not always great he made it a very pleasurable experience.

Yelp
Anniversary dinner. Great staff. And I'm a Vegan at a steak house. They were responsive and I ended up happy, as did my wife. Great job.

Yelp
I had a fantastic burger here! I was undecided between the burger or a steak. I will try the steak at my next visit. They also serve some tasty little pickles for an appetizer. I couldn't get enough of them, they were yummy. I chose the fries for my side and I ate them all, so needless to say, delish too. The service was not great. I went on a weeknight around 6 PM and it was not busy. There were a few tables for dinner, but definitely not crowded. The waitress took our order and someone else brought the food out. The waitress never checked back in or came back to refill drinks until it was time for the check. We even had to wait for that long after we finished eating. I would go back to try the steak. Maybe it was and off day for service. I sure hope so!

Matt T.

Yelp
The food here is absolutely amazing! It's not cheap but it's definitely worth every penny. The staff is friendly and prompt as well. We had a great time.

Yelp
This is quickly becoming our go to restaurant for steaks and burgers in the area. Bison Rib Eye was one of the best steaks I've had - ever. Perfectly cooked, with their amazing Onion rings. Wife had beef fillet which she said was one of the best as well. Service is great and it's a great steak experience without the stuffinesses of an overly expensive steak house.

BW E.

Yelp
Ted's is a great meal. If you have never tried bison, you're in for a treat. I personally liked the bison meatloaf sandwich, but all of their bison dishes are good. My husband has had them several times. They serve a great steak. The ambience is nice. I'm always surprised when people come in with shorts, tank tops, etc.. but that is what has come to 2024 Each table is covered with a brown paper wrapping, that has maps of what I presume is Montana. They have a nice bar. The waitstaff during the week is usually younger less experienced, but on a Friday or Saturday the regulars are there. I hope you enjoy your visit !

Amy S.

Yelp
Friendly & helpful staff. I ordered takeout from Ted's for the first time and was impressed with how helpful each staff member was. Even a server who was busy getting drinks for a table made sure to pause and ask me if I was being helped, genuinely concerned about my experience. Four different employees spoke to me while I waited, each offering help or assuring me about my order. Our order came 'as ordered,' for which we were grateful. All our food (burgers + sides) were very good. Kudos to the management for training their staff to provide good service to each customer, even someone just waiting for a takeout order. We will be back!
google avatar

Toni D.

Yelp
We had great customer service from Jeff & Matthew. great staff all around. Food was awesome. I had caesar salad and fries, both great. My husband had the bison burger, he loved it. great shakes too! within walking distance from midtown. We have been several times now and plan to visit every time we are in Atlanta.

Stacy S.

Yelp
Food was fresh, hot and portions were just right size. Waited was very friendly and on top of things our party of 6 needed. There's outside dining which we choose & they have heaters above, area was comfortable, clean with soft back ground music. Reservations are welcome. Bathrooms are clean.

Yelp
We, as a family, have been to this particular Ted's a minimum of 40 times in the last few years. The best way to describe it would be "consistently inconsistent" or "reliably unreliable". It's either a one star or a 5 star. Rarely anything in between. The problems usually are directly related to getting what you ordered. Oh .. you ordered no onions? Here's some extra onions. Ordered your meat medium? Here's your hockey puck. But, other times .. it's wonderful. Everything comes out perfectly. Food is great, drinks are perfect, server takes care of the small details .. perfect. Love this place when it's on and hate it when it's not. Hoping they pick a direction so I can manage my expectations.
google avatar

Yelp
I am surprised this place only has 3 stars on Yelp. I gave it a 5, because top to bottom this place is fantastic! Is it the best steak in Charlotte? No - but it's close. The price is worth the quality of cut. Go for the bison cut at $35. The sides are very good as well. Broccoli is huge and very tasty. Loved the onion rings! Everyone at the table really enjoyed their meals. Sidebar: I tried the bison meatloaf and I will probably order that next time. Very tender. I was very impressed with their cocktails. I ordered the Buffalo 41. Buffalo Trace Bourbon is one of my favorites and this cocktail doesn't disappoint. Wasn't overly sweet. Service was great and we all felt very safe - Covid friendly.

David N.

Yelp
Stopped in for late lunch on Saturday with my wife and the place was dead, that should have been my first tipoff. Ordered salmon and it was delivered undercooked and overly salted, not edible. Wife ordered salad and it was okay. With so many good choices out there this place is not worth trying.
google avatar

Angel P.

Yelp
Good food and great service. My first time having bison and was not disappointed. We will be back.
google avatar

Todd B.

Yelp
Couldn't stand the taste of the ribeye, and it was way too fatty. All I could taste was salt and butter. I won't be back, service was horrible.
google avatar

April H.

Yelp
Crazy slow service. The restaurant does have the country/Montana feel, like an old steakhouse or game lodge restaurant. The menu looked great and although the food was good to average I felt like reading it sounded better than tasting it. I had the bison meatloaf sandwich and it was good but felt like it was missing something. My husband had the bison filet and he said it was also good but not great. We also shared the bison chili and I felt that it lacked seasoning. So although the meal was ok we would not come back here again.

John T.

Yelp
Finally, a steakhouse around Charlotte that properly salts a steak. Crab cake is great. Kale salad is also great. Bison Ribeye (cooked med rare) melted in my mouth!!! We went on a busy Saturday and had to wait about 20 mins, with a reservation. Bar should be better stocked. Restaurant could use more staff too. Love the tile floor and clubby feel. Recommend Ted's keep leaning into that vibe!
google avatar

Heather S.

Yelp
I've been to Teds several times. Most recently due to convenience. Today may be my last time. $15 for this to-go Caesar salad. Lettuce was wilted, croutons were soft. Overall size was not impressive. This photo is before I took a bite. I know times are tough, so I'll tip on a to-go order. Add tax and it ended up being $20, which just isn't worth it to me.

Yelp
I haven't been to Waverly in a long time, I rarely even go to this side of town. I had a client meeting and they planned a steak dinner at Ted's Montana, I didn't give it much thought, then the day of I looked up the menu online, I couldn't wait to try it. First of all, they have a shady patio, so even hot temps you can tolerate it, cozy booths, dining rooms are in little nooks, so each section isn't too loud. I ordered a glass of wine and she asked did I want the 6oz or 9oz, I told her to guess. I love large pours of wine!! Their wine program offers good by the glass options, sometimes I only see one or two wines by the glass that I want to order, they had plenty to choose from. The food was delicious, we shared bison nachos, grilled shrimp, bison NY strip, short ribs and the Avalon burger. Every dish we tried was better than the last. Our server was pleasant, knowledgeable and efficient. If you find yourself in the neighborhood, stop by.

Yelp
Margaritas are 5 stars and so is the hamburger! The meat here is perfection. I could've eaten just the hamburger patty by itself, that's how good it is.

Yelp
Fabulous bison short ribs!! I loved my bison short ribs entree! The meat was tender and juicy and the mashed potatoes were delicious, as were the butter carrots. I think the portion is generous and the beer selection was decent for local beers. My friend had their bison pot roast and loved it!! I prefer local beer to national brands, so I had Copper beer, from OMB. The service was excellent and they give you samples if you let them know you haven't tried bison, but you have to ask for it. We made reservations for a weekend night, I would suggest it. Parking was in the deck on Waverley, which I always suggest as surface spots get taken early. I think the desserts sound yummy but we were full this trip.

Yelp
Really enjoyed our visit here. We got there a little before our reservation time and was seated immediately. Server was super nice and helpful. Food was great, we both got bison steaks which were cooked perfectly and seasoned nicely. Onion rings were on point. Drinks were also good. Will definitely be back!
