All of 2018’s New Orleans Restaurant Closures | Eater New Orleans

"The Magazine Street storefront for this classic New Orleans praline and pie destination has closed to the public, but the business is still baking out of a warehouse at its Uptown location and confirmed to Eater that production continues despite the storefront closure." - Eater Staff

Praline Favorite Tee Eva’s Cuts Its Storefront, But Is Still in Business | Eater New Orleans

"Once a classic New Orleans praline and pie destination, the Magazine Street storefront of Tee-Eva’s Old Fashioned Pies and Pralines has closed, though the business is still baking out of a warehouse at its Uptown location with no public storefront; I confirmed by phone that orders must now be placed by phone or online and there’s no place to browse its wares. The shop was founded in 1994 by Eva Louis Perry—known as Tee Eva—who had run the business for years before that and retired in 2000, handing it to her granddaughter; Perry died at 83 less than six months before the storefront shuttered, though her death is unlikely to have caused the closure." - Tim Forster

Eva Louis Perry, NOLA Praline and Pie Royalty, Has Died | Eater New Orleans

"Founded by Eva Louis Perry—also known as Tee Eva—this Uptown praline and pie shop opened in 1994 after a few years of catering and supplying her goods to other businesses, and before that she worked as a sweets vendor on foot. The physical shop operates as a destination for NOLA classics like gumbo and jumbalaya and also boxes up its famous sweets for mail orders. Perry, who was reared at the Magnolia housing project and learned to make her sweets from her grandmother, retired from the business in 2000 and her granddaughter now owns the shop; Perry was also a large part of reviving a NOLA tradition as a member of Ernie K-Doe’s Baby Dolls." - Alison Baitz

I was looking at the ingredients list and I noticed I didn't see butter or vanilla extract. Isn't butter supposed to be in pralines? I don't know but these just don't have the flavor I'm used to tasting in pralines. Something is missing.

What is not to love? The cream cheese pecan pie was awesome. The location is a walk up window with two small tables. Be prepared to take the food with you.

My favorite pralines in the city, so buttery, depth of flavor, good size

A must stop for a little Gumbo or a little pie. Wonderful lady that is so nice. It may be a tiny place but well worth the stop.

Oh no. What happened to you guys?I was so disappointed yesterday to see the place shuttered and closed. It looks like the business has gone the way of many of the historic New Orleans traditional businesses. I am so sad to see this. I lived in the city for several years while attending college and for a few afterwards. Had plans to move back but now not so sure. The city has changed and lacks some of the flavor and culture that makes it so unique and filled with loacl character, mostly due to imposed legal changes and real estate ventures. The people of New Orleans are the treasure and slowly drifting away. I pray that this is not the case here. These were the best pralines in New Orleans hands down for sale for the general public. Period. So I am reviewing the pralines that were and what I meant to do long ago but never got around to doing. I think I read that they are now going mail order only. Is that true? I know the Google review "storefront" was up as of 6/15/19 and listed it as open but upon pulling up with my family the brick and mortar building was boarded up and closed. I was so saddened to see this. I usually am back in my favorite city about 3-4 times a year but not always able to drop by this location, but when I bring family, this is our tried and true tradition. I am going to miss the conversations in the family owned business when in town and the stories. Is there a way to get these pralines ? I saw a previous review ask for a phone number and get one ... Does that mean you still sell them? If so, how? Either way, I wish you guys well and thank you for the many years of flavor and dedication.

I needed a pecan pie kind of last minute, so I messaged on the 23rd. Not only did I have the pie I so desperately needed the next day, it was absolutely delicious!! I am looking forward to ordering another one soon...just for me.
