The 7 Best Baleadas In Miami - Miami - The Infatuation

"Tejas de Honduras in Cutler Bay shares walls with a window tinting shop and a place that installs wood floors. If you have to spend a day doing either of those mind-numbing tasks, this baleada will make the day more enjoyable. Go with the baleada sencilla because the queso semiseco inside (which they sell on its own) has a taste so sharp and fresh, adding carne asada or eggs would be an unnecessary distraction. But a bit of their tangy pickled onion adds a nice vinegary kick." - mariana trabanino

Tejas De Honduras - Review - Cutler Bay - Miami - The Infatuation

"Tejas de Honduras in Cutler Bay shares walls with a window tinting shop and a place that installs wood floors. If you have to spend a day doing either of those mind-numbing tasks, this baleada will make your day more enjoyable. To start, get the crispy enchiladas piled with ground beef, sweet tomato sauce, and a snow cap of salty cheese. If the tinting is taking a while, come back to get a massive baleada sencilla that’s creamy, cheesy, and makes your eyelids heavy. Take a nap—your car probably won’t be ready for another hour. Food Rundown Enchiladas Hondureñas The juices from the ground beef and sweet tomato sauce trickle down your hand, and the tostada eventually collapses from the weight of all the toppings. It’s one big, delicious mess. PlayMute video credit: Mariana Trabanino Baleada Sencilla The baleada sencilla spans the width of our shoulders and it’s filled with their potent queso semiseco that would steal a cheesemonger’s heart. photo credit: Cleveland Jennings Plátano Relleno Unlike other versions of this dish we’ve had around Miami, they don’t fry their plátano for too long. It's like eating a stuffed baked potato with a touch of sweetness. PlayMute video credit: Mariana Trabanino" - Mariana Trabanino

Google
Small mom and pop shop so not very spacious but I love coming here. The team is very welcoming and great! They have delicious baleadas and tacos which we love. This time I tried their fried fish with tajadas and salad and it was delicious!

Google

Google
Hole in the wall type place, but oh the food! I've visited a good number of Honduran restaurants and I have to say Tejas impressed me the most. Difficult to find and seems to be geared mostly to local businesses, but a hidden jewel for sure. Do yourself a favor and visit if you're in the area.

Google
I ain’t ever had their food and I never will because they left their advertisement on my car and it melted into my windshield and won’t come off. STOP WOTH TOUCHING PEOPLES CARS. They had the audacity to pick up my wiper blades put it under and I physically had to peel it off.

Google
I ordered Cebenio de Pollo from Postmates , Postmates , and it literally look like they took scraps of old chicken breaded it in Fried it the leg even has a bite mark but I didn’t take the bite. This place is horrible. Don’t ever order from this place. It’s complete trash.

Food could of been a little better and it was a bit warm for being a restaurant

Google
Worst Customer Service EVER!!! My dad and I were on our way to Home Depot, on the way we saw this place and stopped by for some breakfast/snacks. We stood in front of the lady who takes orders and takes care of people. For 5 minutes she was on her phone right in front of us completely ignoring the fact we were right there waiting to order. After 3 times of trying to get her to get off her phone, I asked loudly if they had any sandwiches since she had not given us a menu, nor acknowledged us. She said no, laughed at us and said this is a Honduran restaurant… obviously my whole mood shifted, I told her how am I supposed to know what’s on the menu if you haven’t given us a menu? I ended up ordering coffee for my dad, breakfast, fries for me, and a coke. She was so busy on her phone that it took her 15 extra minutes to put the order in. She forgot the coke. When we finally get our food to go, I go to the car try the fries and realized they didn’t give napkins, salt, or anything with the fries and that they weren’t salted. I go back inside and ask for salt. She tells me they don’t give out salt packets, I explained to her the fries don’t have salt and she laughed yet again and said the fries come like that. At which point I’m pissed off because it takes 2 seconds to grab a container and fill it with salt. After 5 minutes she finally did. WONT BE BACK. Would hope she gets fired seeing all the other bad reviews on the service. But unfortunately she’s clearly either the owner, or related to the owner.

Yelp
I come here often with my fiancée. We do take out and dine in. We typically order the baleada de carne and tacos de pollo. The food is very delicious and freshly prepared. The service is exceptional and we are always greeted so warmly. A lovely gem nearby our home!!

Yelp
This is a nice little spot near Curler Bay's Home Depot. Been meaning to try it out and made a quick stop while driving to Home Depot. Service was very good and friendly. I ordered baleadas de carne. The baleadas were huge!!! I liked that! It had a great flavor. Will definitely go back to try other dishes. 100% recommended!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Deliciosa comida Hondureña, tremenda atención, precios razonables, un menú variado para los que les gusta la comida típica de Honduras
google avatar

Javi S.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem! Right by Home Depot in the warehouses. But don't let the location fool you! Amazing food, service and ambiance! The stuff is very friendly and welcoming. The baleadas are delicious!!
google avatar

Roselyn R.

Yelp
Que comida tan deliciosa!!! It's a tiny spot that's has the best Honduran food. The meat is tender and well seasoned. My favorite was the Baleada con carne! It's huge too, so you can share with another person. We had three plates, two sodas and expresso and the bill was under $45. Come here please, place your money into this mom and pop restaurant.

Yelp
The Food came out fast, big portion enough for two people. The service was excellent she informed us with the hours of operation. Will be coming back again.

Yelp
food was fresh and great, service was great and the place is so cute and very clean. Would recommend

Yelp
Todo lo que ordenamos estuvo delicioso. Las baleadas son tan grandes q no te las puedes acabar. Buen servicio.

Yelp
We heard good things, so we came back later to get a table for 5. Cuban breakfast with scrambled eggs, bacon, fries and coffee for $10. Food was good. Breakfast available all day. Honduran breakfast, Cuban or mix and match.
google avatar

Veronica J.

Yelp
This place has new ownership and unfortunately it's not for the better. The tiny place used to be packed. Not anymore, at least when I was there. Came here for breakfast and when we walked in there was that faint smell of sewer. Not sure what was going on in the bathroom. There was just two other people at another table. I ordered the usual which is the Honduran breakfast which comes with eggs, refried beans, a piece of cheese, avocado, fried sweet plantains and a tortilla. The refried beans were just not as tasty as they were before and the rest of the dish you can't really mess up. The pickled onions were more vinegary than before. Just did not get the same feel of the place. It's a shame to because it was one of our favorites. Time to find another hole in the wall.
google avatar

Eddy R.

Yelp
Food here is very good and priced well. Service is always given with a smile and quickly brought out even on peak lunch times.
google avatar

Miguel A.

Yelp
google avatar

Luis C.

Yelp
Well, it's a bit difficult to find as it's in a strip mall that has a lot of construction type businesses, but the breakfast looks good, there's tons of Honduran products, and even fresh fruit juices. A family business with a nice guy there that's worth supporting.
google avatar

Yelp
Along with new owners come changes. Some good (open on Sundays) some not so much... The place has gotten spruced up some. New chairs and window treatments. They are also open on Sundays. All good changes. However; the food has suffered some since the new owners took over. The flour tortilla on my last visit was still very good. Better than most. BUT not as good as it used to be. It was just a hair too thick and doughy in places. The rest of the breakfast followed suit. Still very good. But no longer most excellent. Gone is the small cup of chopped veggies you used to get. That little extra really helped balance the meal. Also not tableside was the pot of Encurtido. This is the heat that made the dish. The people that run the shop now are very friendly and inviting. I just hope they sit down and think of the food and make sure they are not missing the things that made this the go-to place for Honduran food.

Jose M.

Yelp
Ordered a baleada con carne y huevo, and the Honduran tacos. Had it delivered thru UberEATS and everything was fantastic and a good portion. Will definitely order from here again.
google avatar

Luis A.

Yelp
Order takeout and food was amazing. The anafre was nice size portion and the baleadas are HUGE! Also ordered pupusas which were stuffed with cheese and chicharrón! Definitely a place worth the value and quality.
google avatar

Camille G.

Yelp
When this place opened up a few years ago, I couldn't be happier. There are very few Honduran restaurants in Miami, let alone down south. This restaurant serves up some authentic comida catracho that you GOTTA try. I come here mainly for the baleadas - that's my comfort food! They basically consist of a tortilla (note Honduran tortillas are not the same as Mexican ones) stuffed with refried beans, central american sour cream, and queso seco. You can add more but that's what's called a baleada "sencilla", or "plain". I like them sencillas. There are a ton of other menu options - all super Honduran and delicious (pupusas, whole fish, etc). I love that they also sell a lot of other little Honduran products like Tropical soda (banana flavored) and pastries. And everything is at a reasonable price. Just a great little hole in the wall. You will leave here full, satisfied, and happy!
google avatar

Gabrielle G.

Yelp
Amazing Honduran restaurant! I definitely recommend this place for a quick lunch or breakfast. Please give this little hole in the wall a shot cause I'd love it.to stay around forever! Try the baleadas for sure!!!
google avatar

Nadine P.

Yelp
First thing I have to say is the Balaedas are HUGE. Definitely biggest ones I've ever eaten and they are delicious. Love that it's so close to my house and they have a wide variety of options
google avatar

Cynthia C.

Yelp
This seems like a family owned business and they are super nice and attentive. They care about customers and you can tell by the fine job they do. They have different menu items from their Honduran heritage and since I was in the area craving son yummy breakfast I decided to give them a try. I can't be any happier with this small little restaurant. It is a bit hidden off the road by an industrial area but worth the stop. Also, the prices are very affordable. They included American breakfast items as well for those who like to stay within their comfort zone.
google avatar

Kiana B.

Yelp
Amazing, quality and price. Love the staff. I will definitely tell everyone to try this place out! Anytime I'm in town, I will be here.

David G.

Yelp
Amazing food. After intensively looking for the perfect baleada, I have finally found it. I discovered this place on my google maps and recognized that it was close to where I worked. Today I finally pulled the trigger and said why not? I ordered 2 baleadas sencillas, 1 especial and their ceibeño de pollo. Let me tell you, this baleadas are the real deal. Delicious, big, and with a balance of mantequilla, queso and frijoles. If you're looking for some baleadas this is your place to go. Their Ceibeño de Pollo doesn't stay behind, with their plantain chips and sauce that intensify its flavors, was absolutely delicious. I will surely come back, and continue supporting this little restaurant. It has been a blast to finally eat an absolute beast of a baleada. If you're feeling the desire of a great baleada, this is your place to go.

Talia R.

Yelp
I ordered through Uber eats an I know how to make my baliadas at home but, my boyfriend wanted to order out. The cream on it tasted like if it was old/ spoiled I'm not sure but, it was disgusting to eat. When I was taught to make it the cream is supposed to be sour cream an it's white. This cream was yellow like the eggs an it was placed under the egg part as if to make it hidden or some sort. But, one thing for sure is I don't believe I'll be ordering from this restaurant anymore.
google avatar

Melissa G.

Yelp
Very small space BUT oh so delicious, authentic Honduran food! Maybe about 5-6 tables and a bar with about 6-7 stools. Love every dish I tried. I will be visiting this establishment on a regular. Found my new spot! Very sweet ladies attend you and friendly customers dining b
google avatar

James A.

Yelp
I heard this place had great Central American food. It's fantastic. I didn't give it 5 stars simply because it's location doesn't have air conditioning. Large portions and reasonably priced.
google avatar

So F.

Yelp
This place treated me right! Yes, there is no air conditioning and it is in an industrial park, HOWEVER, it is a clean industrial park- not seedy at all. I'm here at 4pm. When in the area, do you really want to eat at an Olive Garden or Applebees?! If you're in SW Miami I suggest you get the GOODS and this place encompasses all of it. Cheap, enormous portions, and good Central American food. The onion salsa - encortido- is perfect (wish I could buy a bucket of it)! And my carne asada did not disappoint. I ordered a baleada to go because so many people on here said it was good. I'll report back later on that one. All of that plus a cafe con leche for $16 - seriously. Do yourself a favor and check this place out!
google avatar

Liz B.

Yelp
Good food. My favorite is the balareda with the sweet plantains. I ordered the taco with chicken meat. I didn't like it at all! I wouldn't recommend it.
google avatar

Jenny C.

Yelp
Amazing and authentic Honduran food in south Miami. The place is a must stop if traveling to the Florida keys or just driving around, it's a family owned restaurant that opens at 6:30 am with the traditional baleada, fresh grinded coffee and a cozy small place with souvenirs as part of the decoration. Customer service is great and prices extremely affordable. They offer a different soup every day, i am going again on Tuesday to try sopa de caracol (conch soup) a staple in tropical, Caribbean Honduras. Sopa de mondongo on Saturday is a hit!! So happy to have a great place like this near home
google avatar

M M.

Yelp
I like this place for the steak baleadas. The service is ok, somedays they are in a good mood and other days they wake up on the wrong side of the bed. But overall is very good and a great price. I do not recommend eating there because they don't have AC. :( I recommend that you order for pickup 30 minutes in advance because they take very long.
google avatar

Lucas A.

Yelp
This is a small Honduran restaurant located amongst several ware houses in the surrounding area. I have only tryed a limited amount of items within the menu, and so far they are awesome. Whats great about them is both taste and Portion. I was in aww when I had one of their Baliadas. And for a Hangover recovery, i highly recommend the beef soup...talk about a pick me up.
google avatar

K R.

Yelp
This place is so good! It's a hole in the wall but the food is delicious and big portions. Also very well priced!
google avatar

John W.

Yelp
The chorizo baleada was very good. Best flour tortilla I've ever had. And it was cheap.
google avatar

Doren C.

Yelp
I love this place. I'm from Honduras and sadly never learned to make baleadas. Living in Cutler Bay, you don't see many restaurants from Honduras. I was so happy to find this place and have my kids try foods from Honduras. Food is always fresh! It is a bit small, but who cares the food is BOMB!
google avatar

G L.

Yelp
Excellent small Hondutan place, really authentic, from la sopa de mondongo (best I've tried so far) to the carne asada!!! Even the spicy encurtido is one of the best!!!
google avatar

Michael L.

Yelp
Went on a whim looking for a new place. Was not disappointed. Such great food and cheep, you can't ask for more than that.

Dee D.

Yelp
Oh em gee! For years I have been craving some Honduran food and thanks to yelp I have found it! So it's like in between warehouses...kind of, small hole in the wall, slightly hot buttttt it's so cheap and they serve A LOT! I ordered their baleadas one with egg and one with chorizo. They are huge! So delicious! Parking is good, the lady that attended me was a sweet heart and very attentive. I highly recommend coming here and I'm excited I found this place. FYI- open Monday-Saturday :)
google avatar

Rob P.

Yelp
I have only ordered the baleadas & pupusas but was not disappointed each time. Love the fresh flavors and friendly service. The portions are pretty ample. It is a little warm to eat in for me so I always order to go. They do get a bit busy for lunch so make sure you call with enough time.
google avatar

A P.

Yelp
I really like this place, it's off the beaten path in an industrial park which adds to the charm. As far as I can tell it's family-run and home-made. I've been twice and tried the enchiladas and the baleadas. The enchiladas were crunchy with lots of layers. The baleada was large and filled with beans, cheese, and steak. Both are served with spicy pickled onions. Another popular item seems to be a the soup which I'll try next time.
google avatar

Julio G.

Yelp
Wow. If you are from Honduras, you will notice that authentic Honduran taste. The baleadas are huge, the flour tortillas are as big around as a basketball. Everything we had was great. Try the tortillas con quesillo que les va a encantar (Spanglish). I am coming back
google avatar

Brenda R.

Yelp
Great hole in the wall with authentic food. The baleadas are huge and taste just like homemade. The only reason I'm giving it 4 starts and not five is just because of the location, poor customer service, and lack of a/c. None the less I will continue coming here for the phenomenal food.
google avatar

Dennis K.

Yelp
Thanks to Yelp I was able to find a memorable place to eat while in Miami on business that was all of 1/2 mile away! Too many choices and they all looked good...I settled for a beef kabob with rice, AWESOME salsa and fried plantain (?)...had to wait a little while for it to be prepared fresh and for me to get back to the hotel, but it was all excellent, flavorful, large portions, reasonably priced and definitely better than yet ANOTHER meal at a nationwide chain eatery!
google avatar

Monica V.

Yelp
Great food, the only setback is that the place is too small, and is better to order ahead of time if in a rush. However, what you order is freshly made, that's why it may take a while before you start eating. Other than that, highly recommend this place .

Diana S.

Yelp
Very disappointed. I am Honduran so when I see a new Honduran place pop up, I definitely give it a shot. Can't say too many good things about this place though. The baleadas (our quintessential dish) were subpar at best and the meat is poor quality. Also, how can you advertise yourself as a Honduran restaurant but not sell any horchata? I guess if you're not familiar with good Honduran food this place might seem decent, but if you're looking for the real deal, go elsewhere.
google avatar

Andrea R.

Yelp
Small place, cute in the inside. Food is great. Leaving 3 stars because the service was not that good. Got wrong order; waitress was all over the place.
google avatar

Shanna N.

Yelp
The best baleadas !!!! Great prices in an unassuming strip center. Everything we've had there has been great. The only negative is they don't appear to have air conditioning...it's really hot and the door is also open.
google avatar

Manram R.

Yelp
Little hole in the wall place. Nothing really special other than the fact one can get authentic Hondureño food. The place is small so it's a good quick lunch but there not extremely fast so show up with an old friend to be able to talk.
google avatar

Johanna P.

Yelp
As a Nicaragüense kid growing up in the US, I remember eating in my mother's kitchen with the little clay house figurines on the wall and the hand woven placemats your Tía Chepita sent with the last family members that went back to visit for the summer. The kitchen air filled with the aromas of red beans cooking, meat sizzling and tortillas being flipped by barehands. This place takes me back to my childhood. It's hidden in a little industrial park near BJ's on Marlin. It looks like nothing from the outside but once you walk in it's like you're in someone's home. It's a very cozy and charming place. The people are very attentive and the food is very good. There are many options for vegetarians as well. Very inexpensive but plentiful as I feel all Central American food should be as to follow the tradition of street vendors back home. I hope this restaurant find much success.
google avatar

Claudia A.

Yelp
Had a couple of antojitos, they were all awesome. The baleadas are HUGE and really good
google avatar

Nancy P.

Yelp
So I just moved around this area, kinda hated that there wasn't a lot of variety of food places. Randomly found this place and man I'm I happy! I ordered delivery, (took kinda long) but whatever. The food was very fresh. Very good and authentic. Presentation is also very nice. Food, whatever food it is, should be treated with respect, lol. not just thrown into a container like a lot of people do. this place delivered a very nicely plated dish, To me that says a lot! Go eat some Honduran food at this place! U won't regret it. And they are clean!(went by to see it). Mmmmm go get your grub on. I got the Honduran breakfast btw
