The Best Restaurants in Telluride, Colorado | Bon Appétit

"Beer is also culture in Colorado, so immerse yourself with a draft, or better yet, a pour made with snowmelt. Telluride Brewing Company’s brewpub is tucked away in a corner of Mountain Village, at the base of the Telluride Ski Resort."

"Started by two friends who met at a bar, Telluride Brewing Company has come a long way since its founding in 2011. Its Face Down Brown ale took home the gold medal at the 2012 and 2014 Great American Beer Festival, and its Whacked Out Wheat beer recently won silver at the 2018 World Beer Cup Awards. Only available in Colorado, all the brews here have cheeky names. Stop by the tasting room to sample everything from the Freaky Fish Belgian double IPA to the Ski-in-Ski-Stout."

Google
The bartender was really nice! I had a flight at the line standalone brewery in Telluride, but I only liked 1 of the 4 beers. 2 were fine, and 1 I didn’t care for. The place was tiny too. I was pleased they had a little fended outdoor area which helped. I’m glad I went but I probably wouldn’t go back

Google
My wife and I visited Telluride Brewing Company recently and really enjoyed the place! The atmosphere was low key and everyone was laid back. It was a nice vibe compared to the tourist trap vibe of the Town of Telluride. We sat outside and enjoyed our beers while watching people come and go. The See Forever Hazy paired well with the warm sunshine. It seemed like most people were local or at least local to Colorado. When you get tired of the nonsense of downtown Telluride drop by the Telluride Brewing Company to experience the authentic side of Colorado. The people are friendly and the beer is great, what more can you ask for?

Google
Tasty beer and friendly staff. I had a Kashmir IPA and whatever my wife had was good too. We sat outside and enjoyed the warm weather. Check this place out for the beer, the best we had in Telluride.

Google
Awesome small town brewery with a big presence. Easily the best brewery in Colorado. Really cool, old school brewery where the taproom is incorporated into the brewing area. Something many breweries have lost. This brewery taproom doesn’t serve many but the brewery itself easily serves the entire state.

Google
Best brewery in the area! ;) Nice selection and variety. Friendly staff and clean place.

Google
We lost count on how many “Mountain Beers” we had this trip. If we can get it shipped to Pennsylvania let me know, haha! The food is awesome, the ice cream machine was fun, and the bar tenders are cool. You’ll see us again!!

Google
Great beer selection. Very friendly beer tender. Visited the area from Colorado Springs and this was on our to stop list. As Colorado craft beer drinkers, you can not come to the area and not visit Telluride Brewery. Their beer straight from the taps, 10/10 recommend.

Google
Always a great time here. The beers are great and the staff is awesome, if Sam is working you're going to get a great smile and have a fun time. There is a food place next door that is great to grab some grub and bring over. The only thing I wish was they had a larger outdoor area, but in the grand scheme of things that's not a big deal for how awesome the place is.

Yelp
Beer is solid! Lots of options, as a gateway beer drinker I appreciated there being a good variety of styles to try (through they are known for a couple particular ones for good reason). Brooke is awesome, a fount of local knowledge, she gave us great tips both for beer choice and sightseeing. She and the handful of locals hanging out were all so friendly, it made the place immediately feel comfortable. Kinda makes me want to move to CO...

Yelp
The family love the chicken Tenders (hand battered!) The carne asada are legit and definitely consistent the past 4 visits!

Yelp
A very good craft beer drinking experience with Telluride Brewing Company! Steve and I had four different beers from this brewery and we likes them all pretty well! They were spread out throughout the day and the first one we delved into was the See Forever. This one was a pale ale that we had. Not necessarily our favorite but solid all the same. The citrus and grassy notes of flavor make the beer intriguing. Next up was the Galloping Juice Grapefruit IPA. I do like having a good Grapefruit IPA! The bitterness of the fruit matched perfectly with the hops and the beer itself making a bitter and dry flavor profile which was really good! The third one we felt was unique! We haven't had many barrel aged IPA'S so trying the Fishwater Double IPA was quite an experience coming in at 11% ABV. After drinking this beer we had to take a break from anymore drinking for a while until evening so that high ABV didn't kick our butts! It was still a good IPA with it's sweetness and maltiness but definitely take it slow. Our final beer was probably our favorite and it has won lots of awards too. This was the Face Down Brown. Nice and dark this great brown had great, subtle coffee notes to it and just had a great, well rounded flavor. It was perfect to have with an evening meal. Good brewery experience here and one worth checking out!

Yelp
Okay, I'm a bit biased because I love breweries... but this place really deserves 5 stars. They make great beer... and not just one style! They had a great variety for both me and my boyfriend. The service was top notch - kind and helpful. There are also two nearby food places that they let you bring in to eat.

Yelp
I visited Telluride for the first time this week. It reminds me a lot of Park City, Utah. I found this restaurant and what drew me in was that it was voted Colorado's Best Burgers. I am on the keto diet right now and wanted something different. The portobello mushroom burger caught my eye. They asked me if I wanted it wrapped in lettuce and of course I ordered that. I asked what was on it and he said it had aioli sauce cheese tomatoes and dried peppers on it. I'm in!!! When I got the burger it was just A blob of lettuce with a stick in it. I took a bite and whoa!!! It was out of this world!!! The mushroom was seasoned perfectly and was not chewy , the aioli had just the right amount of kick. I would love to try their beef burgers especially the Kobe beef burger. I'd give it 5 stars if the server was more attentive and friendly. Other than that the burger was AMAZING!

Yelp
Had a Ski in Ski Stout for the first time today. This beer is amazing and true to form from the nose to the toes. Coffee, cocoa, oatmeal stout, beautiful dark color and nice mouth feel.

Yelp
Must go brewery, amazing beers, amazing staff, if you're in Telluride must stop. Long day after the slopes must grab a beer.

Yelp
Beer is decent, staff kinda sucks. The business seems to be getting more and more anti mountain biker. Last couple visits the girls working here spent more time complaining about and having people move bikes "that were not in anyone's way" than actually helping serve customers. Attitudes from these gals is pretty shitty. I guess when you get a little bigger you can start acting like assholes and get away with it..

Yelp
Really love this place. The best Mule I have ever had is made here by Colin. He also does magic with Old Fashioned's. The establishment is warm and inviting, as are guests like Lindsey. Anytime I am in town, I will definitely make this place a 'must visit.'

Yelp
Ok. I know I say every new brewery is my favorite... but this brewery is really my favorite!!! We tried 8 yes 8 different IPA's. We loved them all!!

Yelp
I love beer, will basically plan trips around it so when I had 2-3 hours to kill in order to get to Telluride Brewing, I thought: no prob. A quick walk up to Bridal Veil Falls later, I was ready to enjoy some cold beers. I've had some before, but always in cans so thought going to the source would be better. They had about 16-20 beers on tap, including two nitro. However, none blew me away. Don't get me wrong, of the 8 I tried, some were decent, but nothing memorable. (I fully admit I have high standards for beer) The Nitro Facedown Brown was smooth and tasty, There Gose The Snow fruity and refreshing. They have a nice little seating area outside but a real shame there was no food around the spot. I will say, like almost everything else in Telluride, these beers were not super expensive. Overall a typical Colorado brewery experience but not super memorable. 3.5/5

Yelp
If you're into craft beer then making a small trip outside of town to Telluride Brewery will be worth your time. Like a lot of smaller breweries it's located in an unsuspecting business park, probably a mile or two outside of Telluride. Be warned that the term 'tap-room' is very generous in this situation. They are obviously very short on space, but are making the most of what they have. There is a small bar and a small amount of room to stand while you drink - no bar stools, seats or tables. I wish there was a patio or something outside to enjoy the beautiful Telluride scenery, but alas there is not. On the bright side, you are right there, up close and personal, in a working brewery which is cool. The actual brewery employees also work the bar so it can be a bit hectic. On my visit they were obviously busy working on the equipment and getting ready to can beer. They did their best to be friendly and attentive, but I almost felt like I was an inconvenience. Wife and I went down the entire tap line and the beers are very good. Aside from a one or two I didn't care for, the beers were delicious, fresh and well made. FreakyFish - a Belgian double IPA, was my favorite. Prices are fair - bought a sample of everything, a pint, and a glass and walked out for less than $30 after tip. Definitely worth a stop by, but know this isn't your typical taproom. Good place for a quick beer but not somewhere to spend an afternoon.

Michael B.

Yelp
Telluride Brewing Tap Room Oh I did not know they had a tap room because there is no way for a wheelchair to get into the brewery at this point. My wife went and got us a couple of beers we sat in the shade enjoyed our beers. I don't think there's any excuse for not having wheelchair access.

Peter K.

Yelp
I like their brown ale so thought I'd stop by while camping near Telluride. What a disappointment... The reception area at the brewery is run down and depressing, and the bar staff were really unfriendly. Is this their business model? Pretty sad! They have plenty of competition.

Yelp
This place is so cool- we pulled up about 30 minutes before closing time, but were able to sample a lot of the beers and talk to the staff- it was awesome. Definitely worth visiting. The bar is small and intimate, but it's perfect. Drink your brews amongst all the equipment and watch the folks at their work. We sampled several different beers, my favorite was the Bridal Veil Pail Ale- it was delish! We will be back and certainly recommend anyone to check this place out. It's awesome and should not be missed if visiting Telluride. Enjoy!

Yelp
A-ok and super locals spot when in busy Telluride. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is the fact that you have to sit outside on the sidewalk, there are no tables inside and out on the sidewalk there are just a few bunches and lots of curb. The beer is amazing, the staff a bit surely but they get the job done and the music (Grateful Dead) made my Sunday afternoon chill get just a bit chiller! If you are hungry and not there on a Sunday, you can grab some food at the next door burger joint, otherwise I suggest grabbing a six pack or a Crowler, a sandwich at the Conoco station and head up the mountains to find a spot of grass. Either way, I'm glad Telluride brewery is producing such great beers, I will be back!

Yelp
Right next door to the Coffee Bean (BTW ...best coffee EVER!) Place is small but who cares when the beer is really amazing! Staff is super friendly as everyone in Telluride, really!! We were there during the Blues & Brews Festival so the place was packed. Got to sample a few of their beers during the 3 day festival ...that was awesome! Definitely worth visiting.

Yelp
Fantastic microbrewery in Telluride, I go at least twice each time I'm in town. They boast a substantial selection of beer of all categories, and have a great view of the mountains. The staff is extremely friendly. Buy a "Crowler" - a 32-oz aluminum can that is filled and sealed before your eyes - all the freshness of a can, with the full selection of the tap wall.

Robbie C.

Yelp
Awesome little spot in beautiful Telluride, CO. Very tasty taproom exclusives and a nice, if small patio. Great job!

Yelp
This was both an awesome, and crushing, experience. Yesterday I tried Face Down Brown - a delicious and very drinkable beer - at a Pub in Ouray. Since Telluride was in the plans today we stopped so I could pick some up and get some swag! This was the awesome part. The crushing blow was when I found out that they aren't shipping their beer outside of CO!! I bought a case and will have to savor each can!

Amy S.

Yelp
Great beer and friendly service. She was really accommodating of our desire for some smaller pours. It's fun to see and smell the action right up close, and you can sit outside on a nice day. You can take the Galloping Goose shuttle up here in about 10 minutes -- just make sure you tell the shuttle driver and he or she can tell you where to stand to get picked up.

Yelp
Small brewery, limited seating, no food...but really good beer. Hungry? No worries! Place your order at Aemono (pizza, deli, burgers) next door.

Kevin Z.

Yelp
While this brewery serves good beer, visiting their establishment is another story. They clearly are built to export beer in mass quantities, but when it comes to serving it in the brewery itself they are very underwhelming. The site itself is in a cool little area with a distillery just a few doors down and a food establishment just before that (they do not serve food). However the staff and the area arranged for those visiting the brewery is perhaps the WORST when it comes to a brewery that does the kind of business they do. There might be 3-4 tables to sit at outside, nowhere inside, and little direction as to how you are to enjoy your experience at this brewery. Want to buy something else?.....that is even more of a ridiculous experience. I live in Colorado I would say if you are considering this as a stop on your trip through the Telluride, I would skip it.

Yelp
I love everything in Telluride, but their beer selection was great and the brewery location was particularly perfect. We rode our fat bikes through town all the way to the brewery and we were greeted by a sweet pup who belonged to one of the owners. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was due to the absence of any picnic or cocktail tables to set your beer on. Limited space but awesome place with friendly people! Plenty of delicious brews to choose from. We'll be back!

Yelp
TBC kilz. Russel Kelly Pale, Fishwater DIPA, Tempter, all good. The Mas whiskey barrel aged Fishwater Project and the Wet Hopped American summer exceptional. My favorite brewery in Telluride and one of my favs in CO.

Jessie H.

Yelp
Awesome place! Pretty small but inviting and the beer was just incredible. The nitro was acting up and they were very apologetic and treated us to our first beer. They have great t-shirts and the atmosphere was really wonderful. Everyone was kind and you really feel like a part of the community here.
google avatar

Aaron J.

Yelp
We always stop for a beer. The beer is good and the staff is friendly. The brewery is tucked away in a little industrial area near the mountain village turn off. The "tasting room" is a counter in the brewery. We stop by at least once a day whenever we are in Telluride.
google avatar

David Z.

Yelp
Some great beers here. I tried the Tempter IPA and also had tastes of the brown stout and Fishwater brew (stronger red IPA). The layout is pretty simple; they have a bar and a few taps behind it - nothing fancy. But what you get is great conversation, really cool people and exceptional beers. It's worth a stop in Telluride. And you can bike here from town along the river trail too - worth a stop at the end of the trail.

Monica P.

Yelp
I'm spoiled, being from Fort Collins, but the quality of these brews could be taken up a notch. The vibe and service was terrific.

Jim M.

Yelp
This is a tasting room only. The staff was very attentive and friendly. We had the Beaver Pond Belgium Blonde and purchased a growler and trucker hat. Plenty of places to stand or sit while you enjoy your beer

Erich E.

Yelp
We went to the tap room to check out the brewery. Great set up, the tap room is right in the brewery. You can watch them brew while you enjoy some of their beers on tap. The bartender was very friendly and talked about the beers. We had a few samples and enjoyed a pint.

Kyle E.

Yelp
For the beer connoisseur this place is a must for stopping in for a pint. No food and no bar really, as it's more of a Tasting area. But if you're there for trying the beer then the rest doesn't really matter. I actually enjoy having a pint while standing among the brewing equipment, I feel that it ads a unique experience that you don't always get to partake in. They are big into IPAs, so if that's your preference you are in for a treat. They also have several high gravity beers as well. We sampled several beers and enjoyed them all. The staff was friendly and courteous but would leave ye be to enjoy your brew. Then when you're ready to leave they are the only place I've seen that offers the Crowler to go. The Crowler is half Can half Growler. It's a 32oz can that they'll fill up with your beer of choice so you can take it with you out and about without having to worry about glass containers. They seal it with a canning machine so it remains fresh for weeks, if not months (I only made it week before opening mine). We'll be stopping back in next time we're in Telluride.
