"Temakeria is a new sushi, handroll, and sashimi spot opening on May 16. It will serve taco-shaped sushi handrolls called tamakeria. The decor is in 2D with hand-drawn art by Jonathan Freeman, also known as Jonathan Krown. The food will be served on printed temaki holders made from organic, plant-based, food-safe PLA material." - Courtney E. Smith

We had a great evening at the Art park, so we finished it off with a light bite. I loved the aesthetics and vibe here. The menu offers an array of unique dishes. This was my first time trying soft shell crab it was tasty. I've had edamame and pork gyoza, but the presentation, flavors, and the prep is different from what I was used to. I enjoyed the charred flavor of the edamame and crunchiness with the gyoza. Yum 😋 The portion sizes are a bit small and it is a bit pricey, but I feel it was well worth it! They also offer happy hour specials. The staff was knowledgeable of the menu and provided great recommendations. I will definitely be back to try more menu items😁👍👍 Friday, January 19, 2024 - I went with a girlfriend and I was so disappointed. Unfortunately, they will lose a couple of stars due to this visit. It was so cold in there we had to wear our jackets while eating dinner and our food got cold quickly. They closed the large door and cut on the heat after we complained. The ramen and sushi was mediocre and my soft shell crab was cold. I may go back with the hubby, but not totally sure. 😕

Had a great time exploring the menu here. It was a slow night so we had the staff’s full attention. Alyssa our server was very attentive and awesome with the suggestions. Chris and Jesus in the kitchen were incredible! From the beautiful dishes to jumping in and giving us suggestions that blew us away. Overall, this menu is incredibly well thought out and the execution is even better. Really excited to find such a unique spot! Will be back. We had the Salmon and yellowtail Temaki rolls, miso soup, pork gyoza, sake and tofu crème brûlée. Worth a stop for sure.

My husband surprised our daughter and me with a reservation at Temakeria, Dallas's pioneer 2D concept restaurant. The ambiance and setting were absolutely exquisite, offering a truly unique experience with countless photo opportunities. The sashimi was fresh, though if I had to mention a drawback, it would be that the cuts were a bit on the thin side. Nevertheless, it was a fantastic dining experience overall!

This is a unique place to experience once or twice with a date or group of friends because of its 2D ambiance, but nothing more. The temaki rolls are delicious, but having them be $9-10 each for a 3-4 bite roll is a little much. We went during happy hour where the prices were a little more "reasonable". They give you 3 sauces that complement some of the dishes nicely. They also have a selection of drinks and a bar to check out as well. Service was average as we went mid-afternoon, and while the place was very interesting to look at, it was a rather small restaurant. Overall, this is a very great "instagram-able" place, but nothing more than that in terms of food and service.

Google
it was a very cute atmosphere and our server was so nice! but the food was probably some of the most mid food i’ve had this year, the hand rolls and the soft shell crab appy were the best things we ordered, would go back for the soft shell crab only! the ramen was the most under seasoned thing i’ve ever tasted, and the cocktails were horrible! i mean i’m sure certain people would like them because there was so much alcohol in them but it tasted like straight up liquor and not enjoyable at all… had to order a sprite to chase it… overall would not go back since the food was not good and the prices so high! only good thing ab this place is the artwork and soft shell crab

Google
I’ll be straight and to the point. Food: disappointing the portion, taste, and price. Service: slow for having 3 other staff members sitting around. Atmosphere: pretty cool, but pretty cool doesn’t taste like the price I paid! Don’t get me wrong! I’ll pay money for good food, but usually I don’t walk away hungry.

Upon walking in I was in awe of the place, the art work is insane. Nathan our server was knowledgeable about not only the menu, but the atmosphere. He provided enthusiasm and kindness to our dining experience. The restaurant is the only one in Dallas that provides a 2D experience and is all hand painted with no use of stencils!? I thought this was so interesting. Moving on the food is so good and fresh! Some people stated that the food wasn’t enough, but the point of the restaurant is hand rolled temaki. One roll isn’t meant to be an entree style course, come to this place to order different rolls and try new things. The atmosphere, drinks, and food were so yummy. Definitely coming back!

Came here to try out the sushi and 2D look of the restaurant! Upon arrival we were seated immediately on the patio (restaurant was pretty empty) so we weren’t able to experience the inside of the restaurant where the majority of the 2D is located. Bummer. The customer service was ok but could have improvements as we had to ask for things (utensils, water, napkins). I ordered the miso soup which was delicious! You can never go wrong with this soup. I also ordered the house salad and it came with a sweet, tangy, gingery dressing. From there I ordered the spicy tuna and salmon temaki. The temaki themselves was tasty but became messy when eating due to the way it’s made. A lot of the filling fell out while trying to eat as you can’t eat it in one bite unless your mouth is XL. I ordered the chicken karaage and this dish was quite delicious! The chicken was fried nicely and still juicy. I would definitely order this again! I tried my friend’s lobster gyoza and it was good but the dipping sauce was overly salty. We ended our meal with tofu crème brûlée and it was good, a nice spin on the traditional crème brûlée. Overall, we had a good time in the moment but I doubt I’ll return!

Yelp
I really believe this place is a hidden gem. It's tucked back into Trinity Groves facing Beckley. I had been attempting to get here ever since I saw a video about it on YouTube, but was only ever nearby on days they were closed. We went on a Wednesday a couple of weeks ago, and had a lovely experience. The ambiance is great- it feels like you're living in a cartoon-very 2D and super unusual. The service was amazing (we were the only customers at the time). Our server, Fish, was fantastic. He was very friendly, knowledgeable, and informative about the menu and gave really good recommendations. He let us know how they typically stagger dishes out in order to give the customer the best opportunity to eat each dish when it is at its freshest. Ultimately, we decided upon the poke nachos, lobster gyoza, and miso soup to start. The poke came out pretty quickly-savory and tangy fresh ahi tuna on top of fried wonton crisps. The sauces and toppings added layers of flavor, and my son and I loved them. The miso soup was tasty, with a deep miso flavor and the nori had a good chew. The lobster gyoza took a little longer to come out, but were so pretty and unique. They finish them by adding some cornstarch around the edges so that it crisps up into almost a chip. The ginger and truffle gyoza sauce was a delicious blend of earthiness from the truffle and brightness from the ginger, and was very savory. The temaki was our next course-they are not hand rolled in a traditional sense, but are served like a taco, with the nori serving as the taco "shell." We ordered the spicy tuna, yellowtail, scallop, salmon, and softshell crab. Each of them was fantastic. All of the seafood tasted extremely fresh. Of those, I think the scallop and salmon were the best. The combination of textures and toppings provided an interesting bite each time. The nori had a perfect chewiness, and the tender fish and crunchy accoutrements paired beautifully with the sauces each temaki was dressed with. I was already full at this time, but my son ordered a miso ramen for his entree. The noodles had a great chew, and the broth was deep and flavorful. It was very reminiscent of ramen I had in Japan. We finished with a tofu crème brûlée, which is flavored with matcha and white chocolate, and was silky smooth. Overall, I highly recommend this place. They also have happy hour specials on some temaki and drinks. I honestly have nothing bad to say about it. I look forward to going back!

Yelp
Been wanting to try this place. The boyfriend got dinner tickets for nye that ended up being cancelled. Honestly, it was nice that it was refunded and also 25% if we decide to come eat OR can go to Lexy and our tickets would be comp. We came in for dinner on nye and enjoyed it. I thought the place was good but its a bit pricey. Would definitely come back during happy hour to try more for cheaper price. The place is VERY different and bold. It is in 3D! I have never seen a place like this ever and its really cool. It was pretty dead when we came in, probably bc it was nye :P

Yelp
Very cool 2D concept. Woah, calm down Yelp. Why are so many people hating on this place? I walked in here on a Friday with no reservation and the restaurant was empty! Yelp is doing y'all dirty. Restaurant offers valet service for $10. There was seating outside and inside. The restaurant has a big open window that looks outside. Very cute 2D concept with a Parisian feel. Love all the details by the artist of the Dallas skyline and throughout. Slight pop of color with a flower added to the table. Decent size sushi bar with bar seating where you can see the sushi chefs at work. I'm big on minimal design and love this look. Came here during happy hour from 4:30-6:30PM. We ordered the tuna poke, chicken karage, miso, and tonkatsu ramen. For the temakis, we ordered the California, salmon, shrimp tempura, and yellowtail. I also ordered the Mai Temaki Tai drink. The temakis were served on 2D plates which I thought was cool. They were on the smaller size. Well at least I came during happy hour but it probably would have been too much if I was to pay full prices. I was really surprised how much everything added up which did sting a little bit, but I thought it was worth coming here and part of the experience. That's what you pay for. Everything tasted great. My drink was yummy. The service was great. I would bring my friends here so they could check it out. As we were picking up our car, the valet driver held the passenger door for me until I was done buckling my child which took a good 5 min. I thought that was nice.

Yelp
I had a hard time deciding how to review- the concept is super fun but the interior really didn't feel that nice. The benches were scuffed up and felt a little cheap. The food was reasonably priced for the size, but I didn't feel like it was amazing food. The only thing that really got me was the fact it was $9 for 5 pieces of vegetable tempura and the tempura wasn't even cooked all the way through and there was wet batter. Came for the theme, felt okay about the food, probably won't be back.

Alaina K.

Yelp
If I spend $80 on a meal, I don't typically leave hungry, but that was not the case here. Temakeria is definitely an instagrammable restaurant, but it's overpriced considering the portions they serve. The concept of the temaki is really cool, but $7-10 for ONE (1/4 piece of nori with toppings) is obscene. Also, the 2D cake is $20 PER SLICE! We ordered the spicy edamame but didn't finish or take it to-go because it wasn't that good. While the cake was tasty, I wouldn't go back for any of the food. It's less of a meal and more of an overpriced snack - my group wound up going to the dumpling place across to fill up after.

Mindi A.

Yelp
I don't think any of the negative reviews are deserved. The decor is fabulous, service was friendly and prompt and all of the dishes we tried were delicious. Yes, it is definitely pricey, those little dishes add up fast, but I feel like everything in Dallas is crazy expensive these days. The edamame was charred and salted, so good! Loved all the temaki rolls, loved the gyoza and loved the poke nachos. If we lived closer, we'd return more often.

Yelp
I had really high expectations for this place and was sadly disappointed by my experience. came here with 2 friends, and we had such a struggle finding the entrance. there's no signage anywhere around the building by the parking lot - it's on the back side by the art installations, all the way on the end of the building. the whole 2d effect isn't really translated well with human eyes. the black lines were scuffed and looked like they were drawn with sharpie. it's like, kind of cute if you don't pay attention? lol the food was mediocre. I'm not sure what I expected from a sushi place in the middle of Texas but the fish wasn't flavorful and lacked color. it was crazy expensive for a single hand roll, and the quality definitely didn't match. you can get better fish at a regular sushi restaurant for 60% of the price. the service was great. our girl was super friendly and chatty, came over often to check on us, and encouraged lots of pics. however, with all that said, I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone even if they just wanted to try it once. it's not worth it.

Linh Q.

Yelp
I unfortunately didn't like this place as much as I thought I would. The ambiance is cool though! But the food was lacking flavor, freshness, and was salty. The service was good! I know they're new so it looked like they were scrambling a bit. We sat at the bar since we walked in, so make sure you make a reservation. The ambiance is super cool, very IG worthy. The rolls were fishy in taste, meaning...it didn't taste fresh. The scallop was the only one I liked. The lobster was way too salty. Cute concept but needs work on flavor.

Yelp
Great food spot to snag some pics of a unique restaurant. Temakeria is located in south west Dallas in a restaurant plaza. We came on a Sunday afternoon, and there were only a few people there. Everything is painted white with black lines to give it a 2D feel. Definitely worth sitting and admiring the art. The food and drinks are very pricy! Each Temaki was $9-$12 each and drinks were around $14. The Temaki was good, but not worth $10. Don't forget to ask for their sauces! Thought they made the food pop! Recommend stopping by for the pic, but don't spend too much time here!

Yelp
Come for ambiance and great customer service. This is the only 2D restaurant in all of Texas!! It's super cute and I felt like I was out of this world. Even the restroom has the 2D theme. Everyone was really sweet and our waiter did an amazing job of explaining things. Unfortunately, the food was lacking flavor. It wasn't bad it was kinda boring and it was worth the high price point

Yelp
Cute sushi restaurant with 2-D design interior! Opening day is May 15. It feels like you're in a black and white comic book or manga. Love cute aesthetics and yummy cocktails and food. You can try Japanese staples like hand rolls, sashimi, sushi, noodles, poke nachos, ramen, and dumplings. Stand out was the Matcha y Masa, a matcha mezcal cocktail. You'll wanna try this unique spot and Dallas first 2-D restaurant!

Yelp
Food : 10/10 Service: 5/10 Ambiance: 8/10 Let me start by saying the food was delicious. We only stopped by to grab a snack before heading to our dinner reservation. We were running an hour ahead of schedule and didn't want to go home just to turn around and come back out. I ordered crispy tofu temaki. My partner ordered the lobster temaki. When we walked in, it was pretty empty. Only about 4 tables were occupied. However, the hostess was not there. We waited about 2-3 min before walking into the main area where the bar is located. After walking in, we weren't greeted at all. We weren't sure if we needed to wait to be seated or if we could just sit somewhere. So, we waited about another 2 min before asking the sushi chef if it was OK for us to sit at the bar. He motioned that it was fine. After sitting there for ANOTHER 2-3 min, the bartender asked a waitress to get us a menu. *drumroll* she did not. She acknowledged that she heard him. However, she never provided us with a menu or even addressed us at all. Again, the restaurant was not busy. At that point, I was ready to leave. My partner felt that since we were already there, we might as well try something. The bartender eventually noticed the waitress never gave us a menu and came over to provide us with menus and water. SN: The hostess eventually came from the back and went back to her station. Again, the food was delicious. The place was super cute. The 2D design is what caught our eye and made us want to try this place. However, the experience with the staff was disappointing and made our overall experience not so great. This would've have been 2 star review but the bartender was friendly enough and the food was great. We probably won't go back but I'd encourage others the check it out. Based on the other reviews, you might luck up and experience good service AND good food!

Yelp
This new 2-d restaurant is the perfect spot for an Instagrammable date night or girls day! They have so many great artistic accents throughout the restaurant & all the food is very aesthetic. We sat at the bar & had amazing service both in regards to hospitality & speed. My only reason in doing 4 stars instead of 5 is that I felt the food & drinks were over priced for what it was; however it was all very delicious!

Lawrencia L.

Yelp
Loved this 2D restaurant! The food was really good! The sushi was my favorite. I can't wait to go back and try the poke nachos. The service was great as well.

Katie L.

Yelp
INCREDIBLE! I'm not a big reviewer but the food here is nothing like I've ever had before. If you haven't experienced a hand roll omakase it's a must. It's not on the menu and you have to ask the sushi chef. Also the instagram hype of this place has died down so you get the true experience. Don't pass this up. It's a gem!

Raven H.

Yelp
Aesthetic was immaculate but to say the food was mid feels generous. Came excited for a cute restaurant because ya girl loves a theme but man, the food did not hit. First off, the prices are pretty over the top considering the presentation for most of the food is nothing special. Came in pretty hungry but seeing that most of the temaki was priced like $9-14 a piece (these are 2-3 bite items) I kind of settled for getting one of the few reasonably priced dishes, the tonkatsu ramen. The broth wasn't creamy at all, and the noodles tasted like they were from an instant pack, not necessarily cup ramen grade but one of those packs you may splurge and buy for $2 or 3. To say I've had at least a couple hundred bowls of restaurant quality ramen is probably an underestimate but just focusing on the broth and noodles, I didn't hate it but it was not worth the $14 or $16 it was priced at, but it def got worse as I went on. The mushrooms tasted like dirt and had a weird crunch to them, the pork belly was seared on one side, the other just an off-putting grey color, and the egg was SOUR. I normally save my egg til I'm close to finishing a bowl because I love em but after I put this one in my mouth and chewed once, my mouth just filled with spit and I sat there for a solid couple seconds trying to decide if I could or even should swallow it. My homie was just looking at me confused while I decided to give up and spit it into a napkin, it was rowdy. She got an app of the poke nachos and enjoyed them but said they were p spicy (and she's a bit of a spice fiend) and we split an order of the karaage that was actually good, but nothing I'd ever go back just to try again. Our waiter was cool most of the time, glasses stayed filled, but before I met the egg horror part of my meal, he did check in and ask how everything was, my homie was like oh good and I was like 'eh... its okay' (again, was generous and before I bit into that sour egg) and he was just like "kk" and bounced lol. Didn't hit up the bar, maybe that's their saving grace but I don't think I'll be back.

Yelp
The open glass enclosed patio is a very refreshing vibe and inside is a 2D feel. The food I would say is your typical mid sushi taste. The Temaki is basically a sushi taco and we enjoyed the salmon, shrimp tempura, and yellow tail. For the HH price of $5, I would say it was not bad for the price. If we would have paid full price for all of the items we got, I would feel as if it was too overpriced. The poor nachos, one piece per chip. Not as generous as other places I have had this dish for the price. Ramen, the bowl is fairly small. Came with a small thin strip of pork belly (Mostly Fat) instead of a nice thicker piece with a good amount of meat. usually ramen places serve at least least 2 pieces, $14 is very overpriced. Cocktails, the cucumber sour was interesting. Mostly tasted like sprite. The Matcha y Masa, was definitely not down our alley. It was gritty from the matcha, the texture of the drink as a full was too creamy and gritty and odd.

Yelp
Instagram-worthy aesthetic aside, there's better places serving up what Temakeria is serving. I had several temaki, and the one that stood out best was the rainbow roll - was fresh and well portioned. I also tried the scallop, tofu and salmon which were all okay. The soggy nori takes away a large part of the experience, which is inevitable because the temaki has to be served from the kitchen to the table, as opposed to served directly which almost all other temaki restaurants do (Nori, Namo, Naminohama). It would be an easy fix if the restaurant would use the pull-away plastic wrappers temaki takeout places use. I also got the lobster dumplings that has a nice textured skirt but tasted only slightly like lobster. They were way overpowered by the salty soy sauce they came sitting in -- I would've preferred the sauce to come on the side so that my dumplings wouldn't have gotten soggy. Finally, the prices were not comparable to the quality of the food. The best part of our meal was the tofu crème brûlée, and unfortunately came with the least favorite part of the meal, the mochi, which tasted like store-bought mochi. Maybe worse. The service was great, which was the best part of experience. Our server was accommodating of our family, kind and patient. We were also checked on by several staff. It was a busy night so the kitchen was behind and our server communicated and timed our dishes so that the delay wasn't incredibly noticeable. Overall cute ambiance, photo-worthy environment, with okay food that is over-priced compared and not as quality as peer restaurants in DFW.

Shan W.

Yelp
I love this place, the service was great and the food was exceptional. Unfortunately there was a power outage the day I visited so we were only able to try cold items on the menu. I will definitely go and visit again. The staff including the manager went above and beyond. Alyssa was our waitress and she was very knowledgeable about the menu and pleasant. I can't wait to go back. It's def a good place for a photo opp and you can enjoy the scenery of the city. Best for a date night or take the kids they would definitely enjoy the 2D.

Yelp
We were so excited to try this new restaurant in Trinity Groves! We made a reservation for a lunch date during the day on a Friday. It wasn't packed at all for lunch, plenty of seating (we honestly didn't need to make a reservation). Overall, the concept is very cool. It felt like we were in a drawing. Our waitress was super sweet and helpful. She answered all of our questions and even went above & beyond to get details for us. We ordered the Matcha y Masa drink, Wakimomo Martini, and the Chicken Karaage as an appetizer. The chicken karaage needed some seasoning. It was a little spicy but it definitely needed some salt or umami flavor. It was lacking. The drinks were OKAY, the matcha drink was kinda dark/grey so it wasn't ceremonial grade. The Wakimomo Martini was interesting...it just tasted like straight vodka, like a giant shot. I couldn't initially taste the Japanese peach-I thought the peach was supposed to be an essence. I found out later that the peach was at the bottom of the martini! I won't be ordering this drink again. For Temaki, we ordered: California, Spicy Tuna, Rainbow, Shrimp tempura, & Lobster. All of them were good and we loved the 3D-printed trays they came on-super cute custom touch! The California roll was mid and the rainbow roll were my least favorites, the other temaki we ordered were delicious. OVERALL- this spot was pretty trendy, I don't see myself coming back. Don't get me wrong, it's an interesting concept! I just don't think the concept is worth the price you pay (especially since the menus are printed on cheap printer paper...???) ALSO, they charged us for still water (Richard's Rainwater) when we just wanted regular water. I didn't like that the waitress didn't disclose that.

Yelp
Visited Temakeria for the first time last night with friends, including one from Japan. We all loved it. I'm not going to spend much time reviewing the 2D ambiance just because I feel like that's been covered; suffice it to say it's really very cool and definitely worth seeing. I have noticed something of a pattern in the more negative reviews and feel the need to outline a few of the things that made our visit so positive in contrast. 1.) Like any high-end sushi spot, Temakaria IS an expensive restaurant. So be prepared to spend some cash. Think of the temaki as fun tapas - you're likely going to need 3-4 of them to get full even with appetizers. Manage this expectation before walking in the door and you won't be disappointed. We personally found the taste and quality well worth the price tag. 2.) Speaking of appetizers, order them. We sampled miso soups, edamame, shishitos, karaage chicken, and pork gyoza. The gyoza were brilliant and the karaage wasn't bad. It proved a solid combination to kick things off. And if you're not accustomed to REAL vegetable tempura (ya know, what they actually serve in Japan) with very large whole pieces of vegetables, then don't bother with it. We are excited to try some of the other starters next time. 3.) Order the temaki one at a time per person, or if you are a really fast eater, maybe two at most. Nori naturally goes from crispy to chewy when it's exposed to heat and moisture, so while this takes a bit longer, it really is necessary and worth it. Among our favorite tamaki were the California, soft shell crab, unagi, and tempura shrimp. But all of them were pretty good. We also loved the way that soy sauce, spicy mayo, and another spicy sauce were served in little squeeze bottles on the side. 4.) We didn't order the ramen, because we knew that's not what Temakeria is all about. The restaurant's namesake is literally a combination of the words "temaki" and "taqueria," so better to stick to the house speciality. Delicious ramen/udon takes a huge amount of time and effort to achieve on a daily basis, and as someone who once lived in Japan, I'm a big believer that it should not be offered unless it's the main focus of a given restaurant. This said, none of us tasted it so our supposition that it wouldn't be a big winner was simply an educated guess. 5.) The deserts are solid. We sampled the green creme brûlée and ice cream mochi. Both delivered. The service was flawless from start to finish. Our server was incredibly attentive and the restaurant has a great system for bringing out the temaki right away so it doesn't get chewy any faster than it has to. The guys making the temaki work their a**es off and we were really blown away with their nonstop action. Those guys must go home exhausted! Based on Yelp and other reviews, we entered Temakeria thinking it was going to be something of a gimmick based on the artistic ambiance, but left fully resolved to return. It was a pleasant surprise indeed!

Yelp
I saw this on IG and had to try it myself when I was in town. The place was actually difficult to find. I didn't know it was tucked inside a food building. I had to ask a couple people and they directed our group to the back of the building/side. I like the decor a lot. My family thought it was a blast and we took props there to take photos. The hand rolls, appetizers and edamame were all delicious. The price is a bit high but I guess you are paying for the brand/decor.

Yelp
My husband and I ordered yellow tail and toro hand roll. The chef told staff that the toro is all "blue fin tuna" but when he served it to us he said it was "big eye tuna" and mumbled something else. There was a general manager and owner present when we were dining, they were just lurking. It would had been nice if they come up to the customers and just say hi or even ask how is everything? They will learn more from customers then just gawking at the staff. Con: 1. Both male chefs needed a manicure. 2. Did not like how close the chef's face was to my food. I would say about 6 inches and then he was talking to the guy next to me at the bar so just imagine. 3. Sushi chef that made our order was doing too much. He was touching almost everything from the back counter looking for something to wiping his hand on what I thought was his apron but notice it was on the side of his pants Pro: 1. Plenty of staff to deliver rolls in a timely manner 2. The decor is nice and unique

Yelp
I'd been eyeing this place for months and finally got a chance to go. The decor is super cute, a definite photo op if you're wearing a fun outfit. My friend and I looked at the menu and almost left as nothing sounded interesting. My friend and I decided on Lobster Gyoza. We both couldn't taste any lobster. We tried the Poke Nachos which were a huge disappointment. Each chip had one small bit of tuna and a tomato on it. A TOMATO. Then we had a Shrimp Tempura temaki and a Tuna temaki. They are small, which our waitress warned us, but do not reflect the price. While the vibe is good, you dont get your money's worth. It seems like they sunk all the money into the atmosphere and the leftover on the menu and priced it high enough to make up the difference. I won't be back.

Yelp
What a wonderful experience! The restaurant is a little tough to find, but it is in the far east side of the food strip in trinity grove. The inside and furniture are all designed to look like 2D drawings. It is very ascetically pleasing and looks very clean and polished. The service was top notch. Our server, October, was incredibly helpful with the menu. They were attentive and gave lots of great recommendations. The restaurant has only been open about 4 days and so far I think it will be a hit! We ordered two starters, the lobster and the pork gyoza. The pork gyoza is good, but definitely get the lobster gyoza! It is so delicious, I will definitely be back to get it again! The temaki we ordered were California, soft shell carb, crispy tofu, and lobster. The stand out ones to me were crispy tofu and soft shell crab, but all were tasty! For dessert October recommended we try the tofu crème brûlée, and I'm so glad we got it! Absolutely divine! So smooth and creamy, plus the matcha adds an other level of flavor. We ordered two and I'm so glad we did, because we ate so much of it! We ordered a bottle of the Hana lycee sake which was such a great price, and paired so well with dinner! You can order by the glass or bottle. Highly recommend coming here for a fun night out! It's an instagram ready restaurant, but they also have great food and service to back it up!

Yelp
Our first experience at a 2D restaurant was awesome, and the food was even better! There's a reason why it's a top trending restaurant in Dallas The food, the ambiance and the service all make this place a must try for everyone in DFW. Perfect spot to take a date, a tourist, or just to hang out with friends and eat some amazing food.

Yelp
Well, here is unfortunate proof that I don't give every restaurant 5 stars. Make sure not to eat the magically expanding hand cloths that are presented before your meal. Lol. Also, As you might imagine; the interior is instagram worthy, hell, so are the tiny sushi "tacos", on the stands they brag took 30 hours to 3D print. However, does that mean the prices should be 30% overpriced for a "2-3" bite dish? Sorely disappointed in the value, sushi is already one of those foods that leave you hungry pretty soon after, so even with a cocktail and appetizer.... Service is great from "Fish" otherwise we had a trainer+ server combo that wasn't "reading the room" that well at some points and we were literally the only party there. Alcohol selection is also lacking a lot, I did enjoy the temaki-tai and the japanese martini was interesting with the tiny edible green peach inside. The "gyoza" are in a bowl that makes the sauce pretty impossible to reach and they are surrounded by a cornstarch crisp that creates an interesting "handle" if you choose to grab it; but overpowering after the first bite. The filling is lackluster. I've never had shishito peppers that were so al dente... they are much better when they are evenly charred and sautéed more... definitely needed some of their additional sauces they offer in mini bottles... The only thing I would say was memorably tasty were the tuna nachos because I enjoyed the spice. Lastly, there's just one single restroom for the entire place. Overall would not come back. If you really want to see the trompe l'oeil decor, just stop by on your way to another restaurant where you'll likely be more satisfied by your meal. Sorry if this is feedback seems harsh but I was definitely disappointed in the food which is more important to me than decor.

Yelp
Unique 2D ambiance for sure. You have options to sit with in the building surrounded with the 2D themed walls, in covered area surrounded with glass windows, or covered patio. Service was great, but the 4 of us were the only lunch guests on a Saturday. Now the food. We got several small plates (basically appetizers) & a miso ramen to share. We got the lobster kaarage, shrimp tempura, vegetable tempura, lobster gyoza, poke nacho, & a bowl of miso ramen. Lobster kaarage was lightly battered & crispy, tasted good with the sweet chili dip. Poke nacho was moderately spicy, not much of other flavor otherwise, but the combination of textures was nice - of slightly chewy ahi tuna on crispy thin wonton wrapper, with a small thin slice of tomato & drizzles of creamy sauces. Lobster gyoza was unique - thin flour crisp with a bite of lightly well done lobster served in a bowl with a small amount of salty "magi" sauce. Miso ramen was BLAND, as others said. I added all the sauces we had on table for some flavors. Portions were small & yes they are pricey for what u get. Still, it was a fun experience with my foodie buddies. 3 stars because nice ambiance, good service, but FOOD IS SO SO & pricey.

Yelp
Prepare to be absolutely blown away by the Temakeria! From the moment I stepped inside and laid eyes on its captivating 2D aesthetic, I knew I was in for something extraordinary. The impeccable service, led by the incredible October, elevated my experience to new heights, as she effortlessly guided me through the menu with expert recommendations. Let's talk about the food--the starters were pure heaven. The Lobster Gyoza was a revelation that left me speechless, while the Poke Nachos with their tantalizing spicy aioli and melt-in-your-mouth tuna were a true culinary masterpiece. The Temaki selection took me on a flavor adventure like no other. The Spicy Tuna Temaki was an absolute showstopper, leaving an indelible impression that will have me craving it time and time again. And when I tried the Tonkotsu Ramen with that side of spicy aioli, it was an explosion of taste that took my breath away. Saving the best for last, the desserts were simply divine. The Tofu Créme Brulee, infused with matcha, was a revelation in itself, showcasing the innovative and creative approach of this establishment. Overall, this dining experience was nothing short of extraordinary. From the mesmerizing ambiance to the exceptional service and mind-blowing flavors, this restaurant has firmly established itself as a must-visit culinary destination. Don't miss out on the opportunity to indulge in an unforgettable meal that will leave you raving to everyone you know! Starters: Lobster Gyoza* (10/10) Poke Nachos* (10/10) Edamame Temaki: Spicy Tuna* (10/10) Yellowtail (8.75/10) Salmon (8/10) Rainbow* (10/10) Shrimp Tempura* (10/10) California* (10/10) Tonkotsu Ramen with a side of spicy aioli (10/10) Dessert: Tofu Créme Brulee* Mochi Ice Cream

Yelp
The place is purely for photos because the food is not good. The poke nachos had no flavor at all. The spicy edamame was decent. The spicy tuna was an absolute NO. The drinks were not good either. We went on Thursday of opening week and right after ordering they informed us that the electricity was out and they were not able to serve us our entree order (which I understand is not their fault if there is an outage). I'm giving 2 stars for the unique ambiance and the service but I would recommend going somewhere else especially at the price point.

Yelp
Our waiter Fish was awesome. Aside from great service and great yummy recommendation, he gave us some fun facts about the restaurants. Loved the chicken karate, soft shell crab with curry sauce - those where stand outs for me. Fun times!

Yelp
New spot in Trinity Grove with 2D art feel. The sake/vodka drink was unfiltered sake, which I didn't realize when ordering. I'm more of a clear filtered sake lover so I didn't love. I got the ginger house salad which was just lettuce, tomato & ginger dressing; pretty basic. The spicy tuna taco roll was small but tasty. Of the sushi spots nearby, it's not my go to but a cool spot to check out if you're near trinity grove.

Yelp
Temakeria gave me and some visiting friends one of the most enjoyable culinary experiences we've had in recent memory. The decor and ambiance is incredible, great service with friendly and knowledgeable staff. We tried most of the temaki selections, the tonkotsu ramen, chicken karaage, chicken gyoza, vegetable tempura, poke nachos, and tofu creme brûlée. There was literally not a bad bite on the table! The standouts for me were the tonkotsu ramen, scallop temaki, chicken gyoza, and tofu creme brûlée. This place is NOT just fluff or just for Instagram pics. It is truly full of wonderful, fresh, and flavorful food. 10/10, will come again. and again.

Yelp
The sushi was very good! I was expecting a "roll" of 6-8 slices but that was not the case. The sushi in my opinion was perfect, and tasted fresh. I personally loved the salmon and yellow tail sushi roll.

Yelp
Love this place! The concept is really fun the food is great and the service was on point. We really enjoyed our dinner here and felt like the offerings were fairly priced for a sushi restaurant. Try it for yourself before you tie the advice of the naysayers. We'll definitely be back for more and will actually be looking forward to stopping in for the happy hour as well!

Yelp
The atmosphere and service was really great. Our server was very informative and attentive. The food however, not great. The shrimp tempura was really good but everything just went downhill from there. They do not serve sushi rolls...they are more like "tacos". Meaning 2-3 bites for $10. That adds up really quickly. I got the tonkatsu. It was not great, I have it so much better at other places. The pork belly tasted sour. The broth was lacking. The pork gyoza was mediocre as well. Again, I've had way better. Bottom line...expensive for mediocre food...not worth it. Service was great.

Yelp
This place is adorable, as though we stepped into a coloring book. Our server was personable, attentive and very knowledgeable (entertaining, too)! The food was delicious!

Yelp
Me and a friend weee totally stoked to make the trip from North Dallas here. I'm giving it two stars for the ambiance but that's where I practically stop giving stars. The restaurant is cute and the artist does an amazing job decorating. Service was good the staff is very nice. I wouldn't return because of the food. The serving sizes are extremely small for the over price they're charging. I thought the "taco" concept would be cool but the seaweed they use for the taco shell is tuff and extremely gummy. I'm Asian and very disappointed in the seaweed . You have to fight with it just to bite it off. This in turns makes the entire taco fall apart and it's just a big mess. The Chicken Karaage was decent and probably the only thing I liked. I suggest if you wanna go it's for the aesthetics and photo-op, average drinks and that's it.

Yelp
Best Temaki ever! My husband and I travel across the country for work and this is our new favorite spot in Dallas! It was a bit busy when we arrived but we were seated by the kind hostess very quickly! And our waiter provided the best service with a charming smile and all the information about our dishes and the special details of the restaurant. I started with their "ranch water", a very refreshing bubbly cocktail consisting of highball soda, yuzu and tequila. Perfect for the summer! Our appetizer was the lobster gyoza, they were very supple and crispy paired with the perfect sauce at the bottom of the bowl along with a sprinkle of tasty flavorful topping. Then came this restaurants specialty, the temaki. We ordered the lobster, shrimp tempura, crispy soft shell crab, toro and the unagi. Each one comes with its own complementary sauce already on but they give you the cutest little bottles of extra sauce in case you are the type that likes to really pile it on there. Everything was very fresh with no "fishy" taste. Some we had caviar added which I was nervous of since I've never tried proper caviar but I highly recommend trying it on at least one because it was divine! For dessert we ordered the matcha tofu creme brûlée and it was incredibly velvety and the blackberries on top really complimented the texture and flavor. We visited during the 3rd weekend of the month so there were lots of vendors to explore just outside and the parking was free so it turned out to be one of the best dates my husband and I have been on. Late at night it looks like everything lights up beautifully, including the restaurants patio floor!

Yelp
Food and service was great. Rook our server and Carla the general manager took excellent care of us.

Yelp
Ambiance great for the 'gram crowd. Service is top notch Unagi and Crispy tofu were the winners for us

Yelp
The food is really good and great quality. Yes, it definitely is pricier than other sushi or hand roll places but you are paying for the immersive art experience as well. If you don't care for the experience then Nori sushi is cheaper and just as good. We came in on a Saturday at around 5 and there was no wait. We started off with 3 temaki and then ordered 6 more to try the menu and they were all so good. All in all based on the food it was delicious and you for sure pay more for the 2D aspect of the place.

Yelp
My little girls sushi craving Drew us to this gem of a place. Right from the time we set foot inside , we were received with a warm welcome and instantly accomodated at the sushi bar. In my books, any establishment that is incredibly kind to a child wins the golden ticket. My 7 yr old daughter was introduced as the vip and treated like a vvip. The beautiful food , surreal ambience , impeccable service and attention to details were stellar. The manager Carla, John , Butterfly and rest of the amazing crew truly captured our hearts . Thank you for a memorable evening , we will see you all soon . Frankie

Yelp
We loved this restaurant!!! I came here with my family today and the food was exceptional! We tried a handful of different items from the menu and everything kept getting better. My favorites were the chicken karaage, grilled edamame and the spicy tuna roll. We had Daniel for our server and he did an amazing job taking care of us. Also want to give a special thanks to Jon, the head chef, for his recommendations and his delicious food!!! Will be back again!

Yelp
Food was sooo good & cocktails were delicious!! The view is so cute of downtown Dallas & the inside of the restaurant was so cute & well designed

Yelp
A modern spin to a Japanese tradition. The best thing to do is come with an open mind and let your server guide you through the menu! Whether you're a seasoned foodie or just starting out the staff will take care of you. Aesthetically it's the most beautiful concept in dallas! Who doesn't like a 2D environment with a thrilling ambiance! Pro tip: order one temaki at a time to make sure your nori is as crisp as possible so that every bite is a great bite!

Yelp
Very pretty and aesthetic place but food was absolutely disappointing. I had the tonkatsu ramen, it was so salty and the egg was super sour for some reason. And the price on top of it all is insane. Also our server was rude, not sure why but I wouldn't come back ever again
