Best in the world coffee and unbelievably cool spaces to enjoy them in. Don't pass on the affagato!

3.5 stars: Fantastic coffee!! Absolutely adored the vanilla oat latte- one of the best I’ve had in a long time. It was flavored well, it was just sweet enough, and the coffee was nice and fresh. The servers were also very polite and helpful in making my drink. That said, we also ordered a cheese and chive scone, a ham and cheese croissant, and a chocolate croissant. I was pretty disappointed that they didn’t have an oven to heat up our food - it seemed kind of basic? The food was good, but stone cold. Next time I come, I’ll bring a microwave for everyone to use :)

Coolest shop I’ve been to in ages. Extremely cool vibe: spacious building, great decor, penny floor, cool merch, ample seating, and nice ambient music. I loved that they had a sample carafe off a pourover out for people to try. Had a Costa Rica natural pourover and a croissant and both were great!

I absolutely adore Temple Coffee, especially their espresso-based drinks made with their house blend, Dharma. The flavor is incredible! The service is fantastic. The baristas are incredibly welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable. They're always happy to chat about coffee and offer helpful tips on improving my home brewing. This is my favorite coffee shop in Sacramento, and the K Street location is a particular favorite. I also really appreciate that they're open until 10 PM, making it easy to grab a decaf late in the evening.

We stopped by Temple Coffee for the first time after visiting the Midtown Farmers Market in Sacramento, and it was an absolute treat. From the moment we stepped in, the ambience stood out—the penny floor added such a unique and rare charm to the space, making it feel both warm and memorable. Despite the steady stream of foot traffic due to the farmers market, the staff was on top of it. They had a smart system of taking orders while we were still in line, so by the time we reached the register, our drinks were already being prepped. Efficiency like that during a rush is impressive. I had a clumsy moment and accidentally spilled my drink a bit while reaching for it, and the cashier immediately had the barista remake it without hesitation. That level of service really blew me away—genuine and thoughtful. There’s plenty of seating both inside and outside. We chose to sit on the patio to soak up the perfect 70-degree weather, surrounded by greenery and succulent plants, which made for a relaxing and peaceful atmosphere. It ended up being the perfect setting for a great conversation. As for drinks, I had the hot dirty chai tea latte with oatmilk, which hit the spot. My wife went with a sugar-free vanilla iced latte with oatmilk—ideal for the warm day and definitely a hit with her. We didn’t try any pastries since we were already full from the market, but everything behind the counter looked amazing. If you're in Midtown and looking for a cool, unhurried spot to enjoy a quality drink, I’d absolutely recommend Temple Coffee. It’s the kind of place that invites you to slow down, savor, and soak in the vibe.

Google
I love the vibe of a temple coffee. The style is loft and modern and always want to do something nice like work or have chat with your friends in such a place. The price may be a bit higher than average, but taste of coffee is really good.

Yelp
While waiting for our table at Morning Fork, I realized that I hadn't had any coffee. We saw a couple sitting at one of the benches outside and they had coffee. I asked if it was close by. They said, "around the corner" - the best three minute walk result I've made in a while. It reminds me of if the Apple Store and Pete's Coffee merged- they would create Temple Coffee Roasters. Service was impressive. They offer a lot of different coffee options as well as espresso drinks made with tonic. I will have to try that next time. I opted for their drip coffee. The blend was very well flavored, didn't require much cream or sugar, and it definitely hit the spot. The Kid ordered the Mexican hot chocolate with whipped cream. She said it was very good as well. Sacramento Midtown is such a gem. There's something special just about every place you go.

Yelp
BEAUTIFUL. LOCATION. Beautiful beautiful beautiful. Rustic brick walls, floors covered in copper pennies. Everything worked together perfectly! The service was impressive. The barista was very charming and communicative about our orders and gave good recommendations for what to drink, since it was our first time there. My boyfriend ordered an americano and enjoyed it. I ordered a iced matcha. I'm a huge matcha nerd so my matcha expectations are very high. If I needed a quick fix, I'd trust Temple. However, my only complaint about the matcha is that I don't taste the earthy, umami undertones to the drink. It was a bit too milky and thin for my taste. I prefer a rich, creamy matcha instead. Other than that, it was great! I would go again.

Yelp
Temple Coffee Roasters Got Me in a Chokehold I can truly say -- I love Temple Coffee Roasters, hands down. I haven't had a single bad experience yet. The coffee? Top tier. Like... every cup just hits. And don't even get me started on the locations -- they all have their own vibe, but each one is giving clean, calm, and full of good energy. Whether I'm grabbing a quick cup or chillin' for a bit, it's always a whole mood. If you're looking for quality coffee and good vibes every time, this is the spot. Trust me... the coffee is soooo good you might start going out of your way for it.

Yelp
I was in town for a brief time (attended a graduation) and I think I went to this place 2 or 3 times. Yet this is the only photo I got of the drink and it's not even in focus! hahaha, this was my first time here. Our friends recommended we come give this place a try and let me tell you...it did not disappoint! Staff were really friendly, i felt seen. how did i feel seen? idk they just chatted it up with me and made me feel like it was a safe space yknow? anyway, i wanted to try a seasonal drink and was recommended their strawberry bergamot milk tea when i asked "what is the sweetest drink you got?" this drink literally taste like a boba drink, i really like how i can taste the earl grey in it. The vibes were great, would come back here again!

Yelp
"Note" very hard to find parking spaces on the street. This place is definitely a popular destination as there was a line out the door, considering how many people were in the establishment I felt the line actually moved fairly quickly. walking you can't help but notice the floor and all the counters are made with wall to wall laminated real pennies! So cool. They sell their own specialty roasted beans " I bought a bag of decaf" my son-in-law got his favorite cold brew with cherry soda. " he let me try some, I must say it was quite good" they also sell doughnuts, cakes etc. they do have tables to sit at but as crowded as they were seating is a premium. Overall the ambience, prices, service, quality of coffee, and food. I have to give this place five stars.

Yelp
In my quest to find the best work spot in Sac, I stopped by Temple with a friend. It was super packed on a weekday afternoon and we couldn't find seats inside, so we sat on the patio. I wish there was a little shade outside but the vibe is good and the iced matcha was good quality and delicious! The baristas are friendly as well. We did end up moving inside when someone left but there was unfortunately no outlet access so don't plan to charge your computer. Overall, I'll be back!

Yelp
A couple years ago I wrote a review about the problems with homeless people increasingly coming into the shop and behaving unsafe in the cafe. This was upsetting because I enjoyed coming to this location with its very friendly staff, the baristas really engage with you and make you feel welcomed. Management was fast in contacting me and addressing my concerns. I am very happy that since my earlier review, management has made strides in improving the vibe and safety in the cafe and the staff make it a great place to hang out at and enjoy a drink.

Yelp
Best vanilla latte around! Please open one in Roseville!!! The pumpkin muffin was moist and delicious. Cant wait to come back for the Farmers market and stop in!

Yelp
Temple Coffee is a Sacramento staple. Love the ambiance inside - nice to catch up with family / friends or even get some work done. They have a variety of pastries and caffeinated beverages to choose from. They even have merch, and the staff here are all friendly. I'm not much of a coffee drinker, but I look forward to coming back to try one of their popular drinks.

Yelp
I love Temple. I've been to several locations and everytime I still am in awe of that penny floor. It's not just where the customers walk but also in the back. The coolest design !!! Always get a bliss. It's my favorite relax drink. They of course have so many others that are great. Thanks for being reliable and amazing coffee shop.
google avatar

Yelp
Smoothest vanilla latte I've ever had! Not bitter and not overly sweet - just right! Snickerdoodle cheesecake was a delicious addition, but I'd prob get something milder next time around like a plain cheesecake. The K street cafe has enormous indoor seating and outdoor seating as well. Love the penny coin themed floors.

Yelp
I just realized I wrote my original review for the wrong location. I meant to put the review here. This is such a cute coffee shop and it's nice that it's open late. We wanted to go to a bar for a drink, but the vibes were all off. We stumbled upon Temple by accident. We decided to go inside because it seemed lively and clean. The barista on Thursday night around 9pm was so sweet. I wish I got her name. We ordered a Mexican hot chocolate, single espresso shot, and a cappuccino for drinks. She greeted us kindly and asked for our orders, so she can start them quickly. The other worker on the register was also very kind and welcoming. She asked us if we wanted any pastries to enjoy. We ended up getting the tiramisu. It was amazing. My husband loved his Mexican hot chocolate. We would definitely come back if we are in the area! We did come back Friday night around 8pm, the staff was also very welcoming and had great vibes. I tried the ginger snap latte, it was a nice balance of sweetness. And we got a creme brûlée and one more tiramisu to share! All very great

Yelp
Cold brew is pretty mid compared to what I've had here in Sac so far, and my cupcake left a lot to be desired. The cold brew tasted watered down and the cupcake was just not good. Flavor was alright. But the cupcake was ice cold, and the "frosting" crumbled instantly into small chunks. I love yuzu so I was excited to try this, but after a bite or two I realized this was truly not good (and not worth the price I paid for a cupcake and coffee). The folks working here are nice, but I would not recommend this spot unfortunately. But they get a star for offering to refund my cupcake when I went to return my plate and realized I didn't eat it.

Yelp
Sitting in a corner spot, nestled against a window on a warm spring night, I am reminded of why I spend 9 hrs a day in a boring office, working my life away. It's for the little things; take this cup of iced decaf for instance, it tastes delicious, it makes me happy and it doesn't get me cracked out before bedtime. There's no other place in Sacramento to find such a delicious drink at this hour, other than Temple Coffee Roasters on K St! Lately, life has been beating my beans, and admittedly, I've been giving in. But, when I get out at night, (when the tears stop falling) I know the friendly staff and delish decaf at Temple will be there to lift me up. Seriously, thank you for always being so welcoming and fun

Yelp
Every time my in laws are in town we have to stop by here for coffee. We love this spot bc it's close to our house. We basically walk here and go to the farmers market. I also come and work here during Covid with my laptop. It's such a warm friendly place and staff are wonderful.

Yelp
Came here for the first time around 9am on a Saturday morning and definitely will be back. Sometimes cafes feel stuffy or pretentious to me, but right away when we walked in, it felt calm and welcoming. One barista warmly said good morning to us pretty immediately and encouraged us to take our time deciding on what we wanted and even offered us a sample that they had ready. I ordered their Strawberry and Bergamot Milk Tea that was on their seasonal menu taped on the door and advertised on the counter as well and my husband ordered their Mexican Mocha which is on their regular menu. We were asked about our preferences for the milk in our drinks and the whipped cream on the mocha. The milk tea has with oat milk and the mocha has whole milk, but you can choose substitutes if you'd like. Oat milk for me and 2% for my husband. Then, we walked down to the register area and browsed all the pastries in their display case - they all looked delicious! There were many options including butter croissants, cream cheese danishes, a variety of muffins, a couple cookie options, and three donut options. I asked for a recommendation between their coffee cake donut and their peanut butter and jelly donut and was immediately recommended their coffee cake donut between the two. While we waited for our drinks, we browsed their merchandise sitting on shelves next to the napkin/trash/self-serve station. They sell hats, t-shirts, mugs, coffee filters, glasses/cups, and even a beautiful tea pot and fancy coffee maker. The environment of the cafe is natural and industrial with long live edge wooden communal tables and concrete floors. Our drinks were ready one after another and we were off. Everyone who we interacted with were super warm and friendly and our drinks were delicious! Best tasting milk tea I've ever had! It was really smooth, fresh, and flavorful - no artificial flavor and not overly sweet at all. At home I ate the coffee cake donut and it was great! Moist, fluffy, and the right amount of sweetness. The whipped cream topping was somewhat firm as opposed to airy but the taste was light. Overall, wonderful cafe and great quality!

Yelp
This was a recommended by my Uber driver and so I tried it! Wow, I was surprised with the goodness f my "Winter Bliss" order! It taste delicious and so out of this world! They have pastries and what have you and it all look good but since it is dinner time I would defer! However, I would definitely try this place out if you are in the area! Also met a new friend here who was kind enough to direct me to my next adventure!

Yelp
I'm here for a conference for a couple days and came here after dinner. It's a cute little coffee shop in Downtown Sacramento with a lot of space inside and out if you'd like to work on something or hang out. I kept it simple and ordered a hot Vanilla Latte and my bf ordered one of their specials, Campfire Sing A Long. Both were really food and not super sweet. I'll definitely be back if I'm ever in town.
google avatar

Yelp
I've heard a lot of hype about Temple, so I was excited to finally give it a try. The coffee was good and the staff were friendly, but overall it just didn't blow me away. Maybe my expectations were a little too high going in. It's definitely better than your standard Starbucks run, but when it comes to local chains in Sacramento, I personally prefer a few others. Solid, just not my go-to.
google avatar

Minah L.

Yelp
Temple is one of my favorite roasters - I love their Three Pillars beans. This location has a beautiful and cozy setup with plenty of seating. I got their winter bliss drink and it was incredible, definitely a new seasonal favorite. They were able to make it in my own insulated cup but unfortunately it was so scorching hot when I took a sip that I had to spit it out bc of the burn... otherwise a great flavor profile and perfect amount of sweetness.

Lizette Naomi L.

Yelp
I love Temple Coffee so much! Unfortunately, my London fog today was the saddest thing ever. I've had plenty of great London fogs before, and my expectations/standards of Temple are so high! My heart was tragically broken today. RIP When I got my drink, I allowed the tea to steep for a few minutes before I poured myself a cup. But once I did, I noticed that the tea was not steeped with enough time in hot water beforehand and I was given basically foamy milk with vanilla in a mug. Disappointed and surprised.
google avatar

Amber B.

Yelp
Ordered an espresso tonic here and the barista asked if a particular espresso was okay - don't remember the name of the espresso. They didn't mention that it was an additional charge, otherwise I wouldn't have said it was okay. See my review about the S Street location doing something similarly shady - ordered an oat milk latte, no syrup, but got charged for syrup. They must be desperate for sales.
google avatar

April N.

Yelp
Temple has always been a good Sacramento staple coffee shop. Everything from the vibes inside and the service is always great. My favorite drink is the Mexican mocha. It has a rich and creamy taste to it which I really like. I also like the midtown location, it's close to a lot of other restaurants and it's a great place to walk around with your coffee.
google avatar

Hope M.

Yelp
Temple Coffee is such a cute spot in Sac! Giving this a three star rating though because I came to work here for a few hours and the wifi was not working. I also ordered an iced vanilla latte with oat milk and it came out to over $9! That's quite steep for a latte!
google avatar

Rachel K.

Yelp
This Temple Coffee Roasters is a favorite with their penny floors and comfortable indoor and outdoor seating. You'll usually find a line out the door during peak hours, but the staff is pretty quick with getting people through the lines. The staff is really friendly as well and can talk you through ordering a drink that you'll like best. I usually pick up some whole beans when I stop in and during certain times of the year they'll do promotions where you can get a cute mug or a deal when you buy beans. They have a good variety of coffee supplies as well and I love seeing the new tumbler designs they come out with throughout the years. It's a great spot to meet up with friends or hang out to work and enjoy some coffee and a pastry. They have two all gender bathrooms as well that have always been clean when I've used them which is nice.
google avatar

Joey S.

Yelp
Temple roasts and serves high-quality coffee in the Sacramento area. This location is super awesome (close to Lavender Heights). Temple always has good staples on their coffee and baked goods menu, and they pair that with a rotating, seasonal selection that can't be beat! This location has a few spots to sit outdoors but there's plenty of space inside too. The employees are helpful in suggestion coffee if you get overwhelmed by all the choices.
google avatar

Savannah R.

Yelp
This review is overdue. I visited Temple Coffee on Friday, 09/29/23, in the morning time. I decided to order the Iced Mexican Mocha drink. The drink was truly delightful as well as refreshing. The staff members were nice and welcoming inside of the establishment as well. I recommend coming here for delectable coffee drinks.
google avatar

Mariam C.

Yelp
I tried the Mexican Mocha and it was just awful. It lacked flavor, tasted like water. I would probably pick something else from the menu to try.
google avatar

Margo P.

Yelp
one of the most atmospheric coffee shops of this chain! the floor is covered with coins, the interior is decorated with cool bicycles and retro light bulbs. there are always a lot of very cool people, and the staff, as in all TEMPLE coffee shops, is kind, polite and smiling. my espresso is as usual beyond all praise, thank you for being there

Jeff W.

Yelp
Best coffee spot in Sacramento! Mocha was KILLER this morning! And I love the decor- simple, clean, with modern elegance. And the crew is cool, friendly, and good at what they do! Please open a Temple Coffee in Reno!
google avatar

Maggie S.

Yelp
Amazing spot to do work if you work remote!! It can get crowded so be prepared to squeeze in somewhere. The vibes are so warm and cozy. And the coffee is delicious!!
google avatar

Jashua P.

Yelp
Lovely cafe, friendly faces, and delicious coffee. I stopped by for some brew and noticed they had some good looking pastries on yelp. I don't know the area very well, but this is a must stop for future visits. The snacks and coffee are lit like candlelight. The baristas were greeting everyone and showed an true interest in the customers even though they were super busy for a holiday weekend. Thank you for the savory scones & coffee! Can't wait to brew some beans at home.
google avatar

Vince I.

Yelp
Great vibes and chill music Coffee - they have speciality flavors of the season. We got the Mexican Mocha and Not Your Mama's Umami. Both were well brewed espresso, with sweet and creamy chocolate, and topped with powder. Food - they have artisan chocolate bars, granola bars, and pastries (muffins, loaves, croissants). The inside is bright and full of plants. The perfect study and hang out spot.
google avatar

Howie K.

Yelp
The vibe, the coffee, the staff, the people. One of my favorite cafes in the Sacramento area.
google avatar

Mike G.

Yelp
This Temple Coffee location is a super chill coffee shop with great espresso drinks and ample seating. It has a great coffee shop vibe and is a fantastic place to get work done. There is a lot of available parking nearby, too. I highly recommend it.
google avatar

Kyshia M.

Yelp
I needed a place to do some work and stumbled upon this coffee shop. It's a cute vibe for sure. Lots of seating, which is perfect when needing to get work done. I'm new here and so I wasn't quite sure how to order. Needless to say I wanted to try something new but didn't know what or how to order. It wasn't self explanatory. Anywho I ended up getting drip coffee. The pastries are on the other side of the counter, which made it difficult to see ahead of time to know what to order. I ended up getting an almond croissant. Since I dined in, the coffee was served in a small coffee mug with saucer. The almond croissant was served cold. They should offer these warmed up. I guess if you're a regular you'll get the hang of ordering their specialty items. I however wanted to but since it wasn't noticeable I stuck with what I knew. I paid around $12 total for both items. Parking is street but free for 2 hours.
google avatar

Sheree H.

Yelp
My boyfriend took me here a few times to try their lattes and pastries. Both were tasty and delicious. The baristas are super friendly and helpful, service is perfect for a coffee shop. The smell of freshly brewed coffee really sets a relaxing mood. Space is big enough to meet up with a few friends, clean floors and tables.
google avatar

Dan R.

Yelp
A great location, beautiful inside and excellent coffee inside. Plenty of business mid-day on- a Friday, it seemed there was always at least one person ordering, and the staff was quick moving the line along. I went with a Mexican Mocha, great flavor and presentation as well. Plenty of area for workspaces, but one hint - be sure your equipment is powered up before you arrive, for the majority of seating has no easily-accessible electric outlet.
google avatar

Jessicuh T.

Yelp
Customer service is always great here! I got a dirty matcha with a little vanilla and it was perfect. I also bought a strawberry doughnut for my son and he ate it up so fast he asked for another one lol. Temple is always one of my go to coffee spots!
google avatar

Tiffany B.

Yelp
This place is busy. It is a big space for a coffee shop, but it's so popular that the line can be out the door and it may be difficult to find a seat outside or inside. I love the vibe of this place, it's just sooo cozy. The staff definitely have a working system. They work to have your drink made by the time you're ready to pay. I wanted to try something different, so I got an affogato. The espresso was so rich in flavor and it was paired perfectly with the gelato. I also decided to get a cookie. I thought the chai flavor was soooo spot on, and even though the cookie was overly sweet, it went perfect with the bitterness of the coffee.
google avatar

Rochelle S.

Yelp
My body is a Temple and this place keeps my soul happy. Been going to Temple for years now since we moved to Sac. This is the best Temple in my opinion because it feels like home. I worked here before.. clickity clacking my keyboard as I eat yummy pastry, my delicious matcha sweetened with vanilla. I am the main character in my life and on days I don't want to make my own matcha, I come here. Consistent, aesthetic, cool ambiance, familiar.... This place is my spot. Sunday morning breakfast? Temple. Random Tuesday? Temple. Have you seen their penny floor? I always wonder how much in total they used. Maybe I'll get merch next time, maybe I'll get two pastries.. I am not sure where this life will take me but I'm sure I'll be there this weekend.
google avatar

Sean L.

Yelp
Air fresh beans, freshly roasted nice and solid. Oh, did you see it? Put the pea container up there too for you
google avatar

Orawan S.

Yelp
Always my favorite coffee roaster every time I've revisited Sacramento. Nice ambiance inside and friendly welcoming from staff's. Coffee tastes great as always and I recommend to try their homemade whipped cream. That's amazing!! The shop located right at the corner of K st & 22nd st. Plenty of on side street parking. Definitely be back when revisiting Sacramento.
google avatar

Hanan T.

Yelp
Temple is always a solid place to come for coffee. I love the icecream affogato and hibiscus hot tea.
google avatar

Amanda C.

Yelp
The almond croissant was DELICIOUS. The americano was pretty good. And that's all the positives. I'm visiting here from Washington state so this is my first and only time at temple. The staff were very uninterested and aloof. The chai was not the best, I wouldn't order it again. My husband hated the drip coffee, it was very watery. I switched to americano that was alright. Overall I felt it didn't meet the hype but I that almond croissant blew my socks off. I think most people come here for the ambiance which is beautiful but I didn't love the coffee or service. I would've given this less stars but my little cousins love this place deeply. So 4 stars instead of my personal experience which was closer to a 2.
google avatar

Danny C.

Yelp
The Baristas are great, sadly this location is turning into a homeless shelter. Seats are taken up by people who don't order a thing. I could easily dismiss this however many of them come in with a very unsanitary smell it becomes unbearable at times.
google avatar

Ms. Lala L.

Yelp
Good coffee, consistency, nice staff, amazing vegan pastries, delicious seasonal items, and oat milk. What more could you want? What I'm most impressed with is how many locations they have in Sacramento. The Davis location has one of the cleanest and freshest smelling bathrooms I've ever been in and very spacious. This location is a whole vibe. I like that it has outside seating and inside seating with so many pastry/bakery/dessert options for guests. Omg that coffee cake donut was one of the best I've tasted - that frosting is not really needed. Also the creme fraiche blueberry donut was so delicious I never got to try, my boyfriend in fact ate it all and said it was the best tasting blueberry muffins he's ever had lol. The next day we went to their fair oaks location since he owed me a muffin and wowww... I see why he secretly ate it and didn't share. I have these cages saved on my google and I will return. Thanks for the friendly that are interested in your day and that greet you when you enter their cafe. And thanks for making delicious oat milk lattes, I'm obsessed.
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious coffee, great atmosphere. Only downside was there was. 10 minute line, but that just speaks to the demand I guess. Good things do have a small wait but well worth it!
google avatar

Jeff A.

Yelp
Love coming here to study and just chill. Coffee is always good and the staff always friendly.
