The Best MICHELIN Guide Hotels in Malaysia

"Originally, Temple Tree was a fairly typical Malay villa resort; a lush little parcel of land near the beach on Langkawi island, furnished with ten classic century-old villas in the indigenous style. So far, so good. It’s when it came time to expand, however, that true inspiration struck. Instead of building another set of villas from scratch, the proprietors found some more, in a variety of styles, Chinese, Malay and colonial, and moved them from their original locations, dismantling them piece by piece and painstakingly rebuilding them here, at Temple Tree." - The MICHELIN Guide

Simply spectacular. One of the most beautiful, authentic, and welcoming hotels we've ever visited. The rooms are sublime, with the perfect combination of simplicity and elegance; filled with the small touches that really elevate the experience (discreet turn down service each evening, batik sarongs to use for the pool, free stocked minibar for your first night). The facilities are stunning - particularly the natural pool - so beautifully incorporated into the lush and tranquil grounds. Finally, the staff are wonderful, going above and beyond in every way to make your stay genuinely special. Just the kindest, most positive team! Thank you!

Gorgeous, peaceful traditional style houses, 150 years of straits architecture from Chinese trader homes to late colonial style ex-pat bungalows: rough cut teak beams, Chinese screens, slow turning ceiling fans, all nestled in a beautiful tropical garden with birds singing, squirrels and cats roaming, and a luxurious infinity pool hiding in the grass. Excellent restaurant and beautiful service. Only downside is the noise, at night we could hear everything the neighbours were doing in their room, and the nearby road and airport can get busy. Service is delightful, friendly, 5-star. But the highlight of my stay was the massage by Ayu, in the beautiful, traditional spa house overlooking the pool. Natural lemon grass oils and the best massage I've ever had, 1 hour of bliss that ironed out all the kinks after a long flight and promised the best night's sleep. Thank you Temple Tree.

Lovely rustic colonial , heritage hotel, unique style of houses. So peaceful and tranquil . Staff friendly, warm and accommodating. Location not in the busy restaurant and shopping area but we had car, you could easily take taxi or use Grab services. Pool refreshing and in a beautiful setting. Breakfast was delicious and good variety. Complimentary snacks & drinks in the fridge

Beautiful well run resort. We stayed in Plantation One which had a lot of character. The bed was very comfy, there was a separate room with sofa, tea making facilities which were topped up every day & a fridge. The bathroom was huge. It perhaps needed a little tlc but functioning wise was absolutely fine. |The breakfast was amazing in a beautiful setting & there was a drinking water machine close to reception. The pool was also fabulous although needed better access as it was not so easy to get in & out. Once in it was idyllic. Towels were provided. Sunbeds were always available & in such a peaceful setting. |We ate here on 2 evenings & the food was fab & the service really friendly. |Location wise it is a bit of a walk to Chenang beach but we did do it & if you have your own transport it’s not a problem. You can hire scooters from the hotel too.

We had a 4 night stay at Temple Tree with our 2 young children, and we had the most magnificent time. Firstly the property is so well maintained, the gardens are stunning and the interiors are in keeping with the beautiful surroundings. We were staying in one of the bungalows and we loved the space. The bedrooms are tastefully decorated with excellent air conditioning, the bathroom and living spaces were comfortable and it had everything we needed. They offer a mosquito pack, and a turn down service which was brilliant. I loved listening to the birds, lizards and the call to prayer, it all felt so magical. The airport is close, but there are only about 4/5 flights a day and it really doesn't affect your stay. The pool I believe is freshwater, so the water is green. But this isn't an issue for us, and the kids loved it...they also loved watching the frogs swimming about at night! The staff are outstanding, so friendly and helpful. And the food was amazing. I only ordered from the East section and every dish was delicious. We will definitely be coming back to stay again. Thank you

Relaxing tropical gardens surround the accommodation and pool. It was such a beautiful experience to stay there. We felt welcome. It would be handy to have a car if you are there for sometime or use the local Grab Car scheme. The cars came very quickly when we used Grab and the drivers were all polite and friendly. The food served there is delicious and some the best Malay food I have ever tasted! Yummy. We had most of our dinners here and tried lots of different dishes from the menu. We had breakfast onsite every morning. It was help yourself with both Asian food, fruit, omelettes and breads and pastries served. Nice way to start the day. I would like to return.

Lovely peaceful resort we stayed a night here just before leaving for KL. loved the historic houses you stay in. Each one taken from different parts of Malaysia and reassembled here around the quiet gardens. Useful for the airport (planes going by were not loud) and also some of the sights to the north of the island. Wish we stayed a bit longer!

Beyond amazing! Do yourself a favour and book this stunning resort. You will not be disappointed with the service, level of comfort or the pool! The restaurant offers delicious Malaysian & Western style options and the cocktail & wine list is extensive. The coffee is excellent, the service exactly what you need for a relaxing holiday.
