The Best MICHELIN Guide Hotels in Malaysia

"Originally, Temple Tree was a fairly typical Malay villa resort; a lush little parcel of land near the beach on Langkawi island, furnished with ten classic century-old villas in the indigenous style. So far, so good. It’s when it came time to expand, however, that true inspiration struck. Instead of building another set of villas from scratch, the proprietors found some more, in a variety of styles, Chinese, Malay and colonial, and moved them from their original locations, dismantling them piece by piece and painstakingly rebuilding them here, at Temple Tree." - The MICHELIN Guide

My husband and I took our first trip here when we first started dating and immediately fell in love.. since then we continue to return whenever we feel an R&R is needed and every time, it was consistent. Everything was great, the serenity of the resort, the warmth of the staff and just the overall charm! We loved it so much that we decided to have our wedding celebration here, and it was the best decision we could’ve made! Exceptional in every aspect! The food, the accommodation and the kindness of the staff! Fauzan, Irene and team are just the best! This will forever be our favourite place in Malaysia. I doubt you can find a place as beautiful as this ♥️

I had fantastic time in Temple Tree Resort. I can't complain about a single thing. I was afraid there would be a lot of mosquitoes looking at the sorrounding water and swamp, but there were barely any and repellents are available in the rooms. The food in the restaurant is great quality. All of the staff is helpful and friendly. The resort itself is well-polished gem. The ancient houses have all the modern amenities you need for a relaxing stay. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Langkawi!

The service is good and the staffs are very friendly. We were a group of 6 and a 2 yo toddler. We love the place and the vibes. Just the cleanliness of the room can be improved. When we checked out I’ve seen the staff cleaned our rooms for next guest. But they just changed the bedsheet and refill all the necessaries but thorough cleaning should be done before for example all the cabinets and flooring. Maybe it’s hard as well cause the houses are made of wood and it’s harder to clean. So you have to wear hotel slippers in the room and it’s fine. Just that we have a toddler and they just tend to run around barefoot. Overall everything is great. Would recommend couples, solo travellers and families group but without kids would be ideal.

We stayed in Templetree for the last few days of our break in langkawi/koh lipe and we can’t praise it enough. The hotel is a collection of traditional buildings that have been dismantled and re erected in lush gardens, and the effect is stunning. We stayed in plantation building, and our room was basically a suite: good sized bedroom, large bathroom with shower and wooden tub, and a sitting room. The grounds were incredible, lush plantings and mature trees. The restaurant and included breakfast were great. On a couple of days sunbeds were in short supply, but it’s difficult to find anything other negatives. After staying in a much larger hotel closer the Cenang beach it was bliss to chill out in such serene surroundings. Top marks to the staff too, friendly and helpful without exception

Stayed here for a couple of nights over Christmas and could not recommend more! Such a relaxing environment and the staff were so warm and welcoming. If you’re looking for a luxurious yet unpretentious atmosphere then this is your place. Our room was lovely, spacious and clean with a huge bathroom and bath - the bath salts were a lovely touch too with high quality shampoo/conditioner. Special thanks to the two lovely ladies who gave a massage - best one I’ve ever had! And thank you to waiter Ms who was always so helpful. Note - I read the review below regarding the ‘rustic feel’ due to lizard in the room.. I’d hardly say this is a ‘rustic experience‘ - it’s just nature! The hotel was very luxurious and well maintained.

A long overdue review - I had my wedding here and it was magical! The staff were wonderful - Irene, Fauzan and the rest of the team were lovely to deal with, very genuine, reasonable and full of good suggestions. Irene’s experience and good taste really stood out with the way she helped us decorate for the welcome night, and her recommendations for local vendors, how much to order etc. The food was also great - we loved being able to show off Malaysian cuisine to our international guests. The team really helped make it a special day. The setting is absolutely beautiful and great if you like heritage x tropical x Malaysia vibes. We were looking for an intimate venue that fit these vibes and Temple Tree was perfect. Each house was beautiful and unique and the whole place has so much character. All in all, I couldn’t imagine having our wedding anywhere else.

We had a really amazing stay and spend three nights in room colonial 3. Which was amazing as it was on the second floor of the green wooden house. The staff has been so nice and supportive. Thanks to Ms.K who was super attentive and fun! They have a really good Flatwhite in the cafe, the juices are super fresh and the garden is amazing! It’s totally worth the higher price point as the staff is super nice (they make your bedroom ready for the night every evening) The breakfast section is solid but you should come early as they take serious that breakfast time ends at 11. Would definitely recommend!

Loved staying at this heritage property. The whole place is full of lush greenery and tranquility overall. The service and food is top notch. The rooms have an old world charm. The only drawback was few areas around plantation rooms look very unkempt and not maintained. Few modern touches like those to switches and bathrooms can be added for add convenience. Overall we had a lovely stay and would definitely love to visit again.
