"A tiny northern Hobart restaurant with brick walls and no more than 20 seats joined the city’s dining scene in 2017, quickly winning over locals with its reinvented riffs on Italian classics. Chef Matt Breen’s Aussie-Italian ethos was partially honed at Smolt, where he worked in Salamanca Square for several years. At Templo, Breen’s blackboard menu features around 10 dishes; two of them are often broccolini-chili gnocchetti and beef carpaccio with radicchio and anchovy cream. If you can’t decide, order the chef’s menu for $60 and try every plate except dessert. It’s all meant to be shared, just like a nice bottle of red (there’s a solid list of Australian and Italian vintages, or you can BYO for a $15 corkage fee)."

Reservations only. They only serve two settings a night with their 6 course meal. Great for celebrating special occasions. We were there for our 12 years anniversary and our minion’s 10 year-old birthday. Some of the food was a bit too sophisticated for the kid, but they certainly were delights for the grownups! We had a great time! Make sure you mark this place for your next special occasion.

I found Templo on the world’s 50 best discovery list for Hobart, tbh it didn’t really meet that bar. I don’t recommend this spot if you’re a solo diner. The space is tiny, but charming - I was dining solo and was sat at the tiniest high top I’ve ever seen, there were two stools but you really couldn’t have fit two people. I found the table very uncomfortable. The wine by the glass list is lackluster, but there are some fine options. I found the pacing painfully slow, I was bored and anxious to leave by the fifth course, but I was also solo, it would have been different if I were with someone. The food is fine, just fine, not great. The oyster add on was good and the crab pasta was the stand out. The portions are small but plenty, much appreciated- you don’t leave feeling too stuffed. I wouldn’t return but can see how this would be a great date night spot. This meal was NOT worth the $120 I paid.

An awesome intimate, fun night out with amazing food. We went for dinner, my partner had the set menu, I had the vegetarian version- it was divine. Really great flavours, beautifully presented, not pretentious or OTT. I ate delicious risotto, polenta, braised cabbage & more all with beautiful sauces. I wasn't hungry or too full afterwards, meal sizes were perfect- 6 courses. Really great local and international wine selection also with good digestivos & beer selection. Staff were fabulous, attentive but gave us space. Great music, great vibe. The perfect balance of everything. Hobart at it's best.

Visiting Hobart for January long weekend away (from Melbourne) and booked Sunday lunch at Templo. Opted to go alacarte as the munu (on a blackboard) was not huge but everything sounded tasty. It was Italian inspired plates, delivered one at a time, so best shared. Very honest, almost rustic food, showcasing mostly local and market style ingredients. the wine list (occupying 75% of said blackboard 🥂) is a fresh mixture of local, interstate and Italian wines, a lot of them quite unique and lesser known varietals/blends. The room is quite small, dominated by a round communal table with 5 or 6 smaller tables best for couples. Being a holiday weekend it was a very quiet lunch service which was enjoyable and relaxing with attentive service from the knowledgeable manageress. I imagine it would be a hectic and different vibe if it was busy, especially if a group was on the larger table. All the food was amazing, and we backed up with more cheese brioche and oysters for "dessert" 👍 Compared to Melb/Sydney I felt the prices were reasonable for the higher than average standard of food. We really enjoyed our lunch and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Templo. Three thumbs up 👍 👍👍

We had lunch at Templo and it was divine. The food was delicious, a highlight for me was the gorgonzola and cavolo nero pasta and the house made bread. They have a grwat wine list as well and our waitress had great recomendations including some off menu. Would definitely recommend!

Templo exudes class and charm wrapped up in a cozy bow! I dined here solo for lunch and was blown away by the entire experience. As a celiac I am always hesitant to try new venues but was immediately told no worries when I made the booking. Holy moly your gluten free pasta healed a hole in my gluten loving heart! The woman who ran front of house was a delight. Professional but still friendly and approachable, incredible knowledge with the beverage options and happily answered all my questions without hesitation! She’s a rockstar! Before writing this review I noticed an influx of complaints about price and size of the venue. Yes, it is a small venue which is advertised on their website and social media. Don’t like crowds or loud restaurants? Go in for lunch! or a later sitting! Think the $120 a head is “too expensive”? Go in for lunch as well! it’s allacarte at the moment. My portions were a very generous size with enough to take some home. I suggest before going to a restaurant have a look at their capacity, of course it’s going to be loud and crowded in the middle of dinner service. Instead of writing a negative review on a public platform and possibly damaging a small business’s reputation, do some research! Thank you to the team for an incredible experience, very excited to come back for my birthday :)

Google
I was sadly disappointed after a dinner at Templo. $115 pp for 6 shared courses. I’d heard so much about this place, I booked for my husband’s birthday on a celebratory trip to Tassie. Unfortunately none of the dishes were a standout. Courses were small portions:( and for the cost per head, I thought was disappointing. In particular the main dish, roast lamb with carrots and green leaves which was nothing special but a thin slice of lamb. The lady servicing the guests was lovely. We all ate and left within an hour and a half.

Yelp
Fixed menu stylish small room and bar just out of Hobart city. Friendly service. Menu fixed without choices. $60 in afternoon and $100 in the evening. No outdoor seating. On the changing menu had slice of ham on small roll. Either tongue or roasted carrot appetizer. Ragu with strange fish taste but should have been beef. Nice small desert. Perhaps a bit slow and upmarket for my taste

Yelp
This pretentious little place hit me the wrong way. We had to use a credit card deposit of $190 to reserve, got to the restaurant, and we pointed at our "table". This was a shelf measuring 40 cm square, not enough space for two plates, let alone drinks, jammed in next to the bar. We refused it since it didn't meet the definition of a table. We're told that we'd lose the deposit, but they did refund it when someone took it later. Be sure that you don't get the fake table! Shame on you Templo.

Yelp
Booked this popular restaurant @templo, minimal space, $95 pp set menu system. They only have 2 time sections which is 6pm or 8:15pm for dinner. As a set menu special experience, we are very looking forward to it, however, we got a share round table with 10 people. No privacy and noisy as difficult for conversation. The menu is on the blackboard, the Gnocco fritto rap in prosciutto is really nice; prawn raviou is the best. However, every dish are for 2 people share, the size of the portion like a tasting plate. A little shock by the arrangement. 98 Patrick St, Hobart TAS 7000 #Tasmania #travel #foodie #foodlover #外食 #foodies #traveller #travelblogger #foodblogger #オーストラリア #旅行日記 #吃貨 #shareable #ubiquitous #foodietravel #food #aspirational #goodfoodgoodmood #enjoylife #享受生活 #旅行 #Influencers #holiday #fun #italianfood #美食 #休み #roadtrip #campervan #australia #hobart * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * More review, check my blog out 想看更多推介,可到我的個人Blog看看~ https://www.facebook.com/Food-soul-eater-美食噬魂者-フードソウルイーター-105175438331360/ Please follow my Instagram 也要Follow我的Instagram喔! https://www.instagram.com/foodsouleater/ * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Liven$10推薦碼:UXAXE5

Yelp
Where to begin? I'm going to start back in June 2014 when Sidecar, my favourite late night small bar, closed its doors and a piece of my heart turned black. Track forward to October 2015 and that black piece of my heart is slowly coming back to life, thanks to templo. I knew templo was coming, but I wasn't sure where it was going, until I literally walked past it on my way home from work the other night. There were still diners inside, but it was late (almost 10pm) so I stuck my head in just to enquire after last service. Within moments I was shown to a table and there was a negroni in front of me. I tried desperately to hold back tears of joy. (This review is going to be VERY floral, these things happen when I'm in love.) I also got reminded instantly of crusing through the streets of Brooklyn, passing little hole-in-the-wall diners with amazing logos and warm insides. No menus at templo--the short and sweet food offerings are displayed up on the blackboard above the peephole into the kitchen. Take your pick of what's on offer or hand the reins over to the chef--my VERY FAVOURITE THING TO DO. SHUT UP. I ended up eating my way through half the menu, trying very hard not to get attached to anything because the board will be ever-changing with fresh, seasonal, local ingredients. Having said that, every dish was delicious. I threw in a dessert to boot because I can't resist a citrus-forward dessert, and the meyer lemon semifreddo was just so, so good. I also really love what they've done with the space... I've seen three different uses of this space now and this is absolutely my favourite. One big exposed brick wall, a lovely tiled bar, a window bench seat, a beautiful big round wooden table, great light fittings... and beautiful servingware too. It only seats around twenty people but when the tables are full it feels cosy and alive. Matt and Chris looked after me so well that my only concern will be sticking to my budget in the future as I'll be walking home past templo at least twice a week. I'm also over the moon that they're open on Sundays and Mondays, as it's rare to find somewhere good in town open during hospo weekends! Maybe I'll just have to pop in for round two tonight, though...

Yelp
While researching Hobart before visiting, I read about Templo and decided to make a reservation. I was thoroughly impressed. The atmosphere is the best. I love the how small it is. The food was delicious and they had a nice wine selection. The staff was amazing! I highly recommend you reserve a spot! Well worth it and reasonably priced for the quality/service.

Yelp
Amazing amazing amazing. Great food, lovely and interesting wines, perfect service. The head chef from another great Hobart eatery was celebrating a personal anniversary at the table next to us, which tells you a bit about the high regard in which templo is held in Hobart, and a couple of old friends of mine had coincidentally come down from Melbourne for the night, just to eat here, which is a nice reflection of a bigger reputation. You have to book. Really happy that they are open on a Monday.

Yelp
Go for the degustation $70pp. 2nd seating @8.30pm is best as you won't get kicked out. If you want to join a commune table as we did, go for it as we met some fabulous people-none were locals though. Amazing wine choices and the food was absolutely sensational well done Templo. I will certainly recommend this wonderful foodies spot for Hoabart. Cheers

Yelp
Arrived at templo on our second day visiting from Sydney, super keen to test out the restaurant scene in Hobart and hoping to see talented chefs' inspired takes on amazing local produce. Sadly we were disappointed by the experience at Templo. In short, we paid way too much for unoriginal dishes and left super ravenous (we're not massive eaters!) Staff were polite and attentive but our experience was defined by minuscule servings of one-dimensioanl food, leading to an embarrassing constant need to ask for bread (2 tiny slices at a time only allowed). BUT the space itself is lovely. The menu lacked depth, and to be honest the food is really not anywhere near tasty enough to justify the hype and price. If we were forced to go again we would byo because wine pours were a bit stingy. So much potential for this venue but very disappointed. Tassie has the best produce of the country, we wish the hospo scene here demanded more from it's venues.

Yelp
Called in "accidentally" today, not realising that they did Saturday lunch. It's a small place that has a small sign outside and if you blink you will miss it. It's just around the corner in Patrick St (on the right) from Harrington St. The place is smallish and is designed for customers to sit around small tables, and a community table and share their offerings. There is a blackboard with their menu on and the wine list is on there too. Not a lot to chose from but all freshly made and the wine list is only a few reds and whites, by the glass or bottle. On siting down you are well greeted and receive some sparkling water from their own special water taps. That's a + with the water coming from effectively beer taps. No extra charge. WE opted for the Gnocco Fritto and Tagliatelle with a nice cream sauce. We were served 2 complimentary warm Italian slices of crisp house made Garlic Bread which was wonderful. Very moreish. The Gnocco was lightly fried and crisp with 2 small serves of wonderful Parma. The Tagiatelle was home made and the sauce was nice, but we did think it could have had a little more herb flavour. Not large portions and as we aren't big eaters we were happy with the serving sizes. Barbera wine was $12 a glass and we thought that a tad expensive. We will be back and this place is a great addition to the buzzing restaurant scene in Hobart.

Yelp
Not going to go into a long winded description of each dish. Basically it was awesome. Went with a friend and had the chefs feed me option. Basically small plates of everything on the menu. I would say 20% of it was OK and 80% was delicious. Really friendly service, nice drinks. Very VERY small place and so they have communal dining, which I don't like, but it is what it is. Would definitely go back.
