I was excited to stay in a brand new modern hotel for our first trip to Nashville. One of the appeals was the location, being only a few blocks from the hustle and bustle of Broadway. It was just far enough away from the noise and chaos. It had been open for two weeks when we stayed there, so still very new. When we arrived there, it was rather chaotic. There was no valet attendant, so we waited 5-10 minutes for an attendant to appear at the valet kiosk. We gave our keys to the valet, and we weren't given a physical ticket for it. I did not like that. I gave the valet our name and phone number, and he entered the phone number wrong, so we didn't get a ticket number or confirmation via text, so it became a thing. It took a lot of effort on our part to make sure our car was attached to our name and room so there wouldn't be issues later. Eventually the valet was able to pull up our info in their system and fix the phone number, too. He was very nice and handled it well. The other thing going on when we arrived was the first floor was so full of army recruits (staying at the hotel), that we couldn't get to the elevator. The first floor was so jam packed, we ended up just hanging out front while waiting for it to clear out enough to get in line for an elevator. The first floor space was pretty tight, so it wasn't their fault. The room itself was very nice and well designed. Loved the floor to ceiling window in our room. One of the annoying things is that they don't give water bottles to Hilton Honors members. Not a big deal, but they didn't even have glasses or cups in the room, so we had to go on a search for some (the one time I don't bring my reusable bottle with me!!!). They did have an ice machine that had an ice water option, and we used it countless times during our stay. Just make sure and bring your reusable bottles! The pour over coffee packs were amazing...like the most high quality coffee I've ever had in a hotel. But it was messy as heck and took some coordination to get the paper filter to attach to the paper coffee cup without getting grounds everywhere. But omg that coffee was exceptional! (I do feel bad for the housekeepers that have to clean the little garbage cans with the messy coffee grounds in them. Yikes!) Another issue we had was with the thermostat. We could not set the AC below 68. Since this is supposed to be a more eco conscious hotel, I imagine that's why they do that. And I know that sounds like a comfortable temp, but the room felt too warm and stuffy to sleep comfortably. It was in the 70's when we were there, so I don't even wanna know what it would be like trying to sleep there in the summer! The layout of the hotel is a bit awkward, with the lobby being on the fifth floor. We found ourselves wandering around trying to find the coffee shop, because it wasn't clear where everything was. Hopefully they add a directory and more signs to make the hotel easier to navigate. They were also still working on things like installing floor to ceiling mirrors by the elevators, and the gym wasn't ready yet. So it does feel like they rushed to open the hotel. My hubby found a screw on the floor of our room, thankfully neither of us stepped on it. I'm sure the experience will get better as they get the kinks worked out, but that being said, we're gonna stay somewhere else next time. When it comes down to it, all the different issues we experienced took time away from relaxing and enjoying our vacation. That was not cool.
