"Signage just went up for a new fast-casual Turkish street food spot prepped to feed plenty of 9-to-5 workers in a few months. The new carb-friendly option called Tempo is headed for 1195 20th Street NW. It’s located next to lunch stop Jack’s Fresh and is slated to take up a chunk of the block, with 45 seats. There’s a 13-year-old sister spot planted in Bethesda, Maryland, but owner Ugur Altintas tells Eater he’s switching gears to focus on the new downtown location. He says the two will only be 'sort of' related moving forward. The centerpiece of the menu is a boat-shaped Turkish pizza called 'pide' that bakes in less than two minutes. The made-to-order pie requires no sauce, but there’s lots of veggie and meat options that go on top. Lamb, beef, and chicken options will also be the mix, as well as falafel, sandwiches, and a salad bar. A diet-busting Turkish baked potato dubbed 'kumpir' — a classic to-go order found in Istanbul — comes mashed with butter and cheese, alongside 15 toppings to choose from. Design details are still in the works, but Altintas says Tempo will carry a black and white color scheme. Tempo is unrelated to a restaurant of the same name across state lines in Alexandria, which serves French and Italian fare in an upscale setting." - Tierney Plumb

I had a nice family dinner here, had salad, appetizers, dessert and coffee. Staff was very nice and food was acceptable. Art was unique but there was no music. Even some soft piano or classical is nice rather than hearing others chew. No bar sadly but the cocktails served were nice. Fried cheese appetizer could have a side dip of some kind. Overall nice quiet place for a bite, but nothing to write home about.

Went here for dinner one evening and had a great experience! The staff is very friendly and funny, and the food tasted very fresh. We started with the carpaccio, then one of us got linguine with broccoli and crab, the other got liver, and then we ended with a chocolate kahlua cheesecake (my favorite part). Will definitely be returning!

An upscale cosy Italian Restaurant tucked in a corner on the main highway. Serving exquisite pasta and wine, the service is fantastic. I ordered a portion of the tomato mozzarella and it was really fresh and delicious. For my mains, the chef prepared a special vegetarian pasta for me and I relished every bite. To top it all, you get to choose your desert from a bunch of options displayed to you on your table! The waiter will bring a tray of the deserts available for you to pick your poison. I choose the dark chocolate mousse, and I did not regret my choice. Overall, a fabulous dinner. Easy to miss this spot, but a must visit!

We had a lovely Sunday brunch meal. I highly recommend the French Toast. It is rich and fluffy and seasoned in the most lovely way and covered in fresh fruit. We had the blueberry tart for dessert. It is a fabulous cream base with bold blueberries exploding throughout. Yum! The service was excellent. The interior has whimsical art including "Rock, Paper, Scissors" and "The Basic Food Groups". The pricing is moderate for dishes. Try Tempo and experience the music of Sunday brunch!

I had a lovely lunch at Tempo this afternoon. The staff went above and beyond to make my experience a 5 star!! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The prices were comparable to restaurants in the area and the food was superb!! Definitely give this place a try if you’re in the area, it won’t disappoint!!

The lamb chops were fantastic, fried calamari, Caesar salad, and the medallions Roquefort also delicious. Sorry I didn’t get a pic of those, they were devoured too fast. The food is very good. Don’t be put off by the modern ambience.

Very tasty. A great place to eat light while indulging with fine foods. Many fish options. The menu is changed often but the favorites are staples.
