Lots of reviews mention inconsistency but stopped by to grab lunch, salmon nigiri was very good! A bit pricey at $11 each but good quality and understandable at this location. Would definitely check out the discounted end of day stuff if I was in the area at night.

Love this place. There are hot steam buns here !!! Felt like I was in Japan for a moment until reality kicked in that pricing was not in Yen🤣. But it's ok. Still great pricing for NYC in the boxed bento and sushi sections. Very yummy with discounts after 8 pm. Mus visit. I got extra sushi for late snacking. Perfect 👍

Ten Ichi Mart and Deli isn’t actually a restaurant, despite what the name might suggest. Instead, it’s a small Japanese market tucked right in the heart of Midtown NYC — and when you put that in perspective, a visit here feels like a blessing. The space may be tiny, but it’s impressively stocked with all kinds of Asian food essentials. It’s surprisingly complete, and best of all, very affordable. Sure, the food quality can be a bit inconsistent at times, but the prices more than justify those shortcomings. Most of the items are more than satisfying, and I especially enjoy their assorted sushi rolls and chirashi bowls. Honestly, I’m just grateful this mart exists.

For anyone who misses Murasaki, Tohei opened Tenichi Mart up in Astoria (30th Ave near 33rd Street). There is a wide assortment of Japanese groceries and goods as well as his grab-and-go food selection, which is AMAZING! In addition to the sushi rolls, which are still as good as we remember, there are cuts of sushi grade fish, hot food including takoyaki, and a wide assortment of onigiri (the spicy karaage was so good 😭🥹). I know we’re blessed to have such a great variety of Asian food down here in LIC as well as TESO Life but it’s so nice to be able to support an old friend and staple of LIC again! If anyone happens to go, be sure to ask to see Tohei. He said he misses chatting with his guests 🥹

This review is only for the BUNS❗️My old stomping grounds. (Yesss) I hit the jackpot that day, They have different types of sweet buns chicken, sesame & so fourth. They’re warm & YES/YUP they are ALL delicious. it’s like a mini meal.There is no seating inside, so be prepared for whatever you purchase you stand outside & eat it, or do take out other than that you’re good to go. Place is clean & food is fresh

I used to love getting the Karaage don and onigiris from this ten Ichi mart location but I’ve noticed that the taste of the food and quality has gone down a lot within the last 6 months. I’m not sure if the kitchen staff has changed but the rice is really bland with little to no flavor. The karaage is practically just fried potato starch with some pieces not having any chicken inside. Portions of the rice bowls are slightly smaller than before though I understand the cost of ingredients has gone up lately.

You cannot beat the post 8p deal (half off) - I'd go with the hot bar items but the sushi was still good enough to warrant the half off price! I'd recommend getting there close to 7:50-8p to grab the goodies! Cheers!

Smaller Japanese market located in 5th Ave between 22nd and 23rd Streets. They carry a broad mix of groceries and a slightly different selection of Japanese and Asian products than I've seen in some other similar stores, for example some drinks and snacks produced in Taiwan which I appreciated since you don't see them commonly. The main sections are: a wall of snacks directly to your right when you walk in, ramen and dried foodstuffs as you walk further back to the right, opposite to which are more dried ingredients and condiments. Turn the corner to a smallish display of fresh produce (mostly vegetables), pickled veg, and the center aisle shelves stocked with a variety of snacks and candies. Against the wall are a frozen food section, chilled condiments, sauces, drinks, followed by a couple sections of prepared foods to go. The sushi and sashimi looked reasonably fresh at 3pm when I walked by on a Saturday afternoon. (For those reviews mentioning 50% discounted sushi that's not fresh at the end of the day, I imagine if you're waiting for sushi anywhere that's been sitting even in chilled conditions for more than 7-8 hours it's probably not great though personally I've seen visually worse-looking discounted sushi at other places.) Service was at checkout was prompt though I didn't have much interaction with the staff. Loved that they had a microwave and hot water for those that wanted to make ramen or heat up food to go, this is very typical of convenience stores in Japan.

This is a cute mid sized Japanese/Asian convenience store that is great for a quick on the go bite or to pick up misc items for your dorm or small apartment. A variety of ramen noodles, drinks. Precooked rice , bottled sauces etc. they also have amazing oniguri options and steamed buns, pole bowls, sushi all at affordable prices for the area . A must try treat is the many flavors of kit kat!

Admittedly I came here recently for the late hours discounted sushi, onigri, and chicken Katsu and it did not disappoint. Obviously the sushi is not on par with restaurant sushi but all in all pretty good. I would definitely come back to try it again. The store itself has a pretty good selection of Japanese food products ranging from candy to buns to ramen to ice cream. If you're in Manhattan and looking for ingredients to make an authentic Japanese meal, I would definitely recommend going there. From what I've been told it doesn't compare to 7-11s or Lawson's in Japan in terms of hot food selection but it's good enough for New York City in my opinion. There was a pretty big line when I went given the 8pm discount but everyone was processed fairly quickly and orderly.

This is a small Japanese market in the Flatiron District. There are bigger and better Japanese markets out there, but for the location, this place is a nice choice to have. They have a large selection of goods imported from Japan. Do not expect to find fresh produce from here. However, you can get plenty of snacks, candy, canned goods, noodles, jars of sauce, drinks, and more. They also have an area at the front with premade food. The selection is actually very good and reasonably priced. You can buy onigiri, sushi, gyudon, teriyaki, etc. A typical bowl here is $12. It makes for a quick and affordable lunch or dinner. My friend and I tried some of the premade food and it was decent quality overall. And after 8:00pm, the sushi is 50% off. I'll definitely be back again sometime.

Stopped in last minute for some half off sushi. Sushi was just meh, got the salmon avocado and the spicy tuna and California roll. No flavor on the rice, and the rice was soggy. Would not get again, shame. Was in and out in 4 minutes tho!

50% off all sushi, onigiri, and hot foods everyday past 8pm!! Such a good deal and the food is honestly pretty good. My favorite is definitely the onigiri as you can't go wrong on any flavor, and they're so cheap (around $3 normal price, $1.50 after 8pm). The sushi and hot food is honestly ok, but that's the quality you assume for cheap pre-ready food. I recommend the nigiri over the sushi rolls but either way it's not bad. A great place for a late night snack or grocery shopping. Tip: bring cash if you're planning on buying less than $8 worth and come early because it gets super crowded at 8pm

So glad to have a Japanese mart in the area. Perfect place to get work lunch from there. They have variety options of food, including different sushi combo boxes, ornigiri, lunch boxes. Can't wait to try every single of them. It is newly opened but already got popular. It was during lunch time when I went there, so I didn't get chance to check out the snacks and drinks. Definitely will go back again if I go work in the office.

So happy to find this place just walking around Chelsea and what a great find. I'm always hunting for fun Kit Kat flavors and they didn't disappoint. They have a lot of variety of Japanese items and would love to go back to take part of the 50% off after 8pm. What a deal! Service was friendly. How cute is this little market. It reminded me so much of going into the Family Marts in Japan. It had a ton of yummy food to pick from and many Asian staples throughout the store. We were traveling so the employees allowed us to leave our items at the front of the store, so we did not have to lug it all around. And the service was great and the employees kind. Will deff come here again when back in the area.

Japanese market in a convenient location near Madison sq park. Prices seemed pretty reasonable, comparable to Teso Mart in Herald Sq. They had a lot of hot foods, sushi, and rice balls to pick from. I was able to grab food and a drink to enjoy in the park. After 8PM their food becomes 50% off which is a great deal. I noticed a hot water dispenser. Might be able to use that to cook their instant ramen bowls!

Cheap, affordable. The bbq bun is delicious, with good amount of filling. The pizza bun is not what I expected, it was mostly sauce and mushrooms (?) not an ounce of cheese but good if you like mushrooms.

I went to this Japanese style convenient shop when it first opened, which is a welcoming business for affordable sushi without forking over $10 for a sushi meal. While I was never out late enough to take advantage of the 50% discounted food, what I ordered during the day is always fresh and I do see a kitchen with cooks making food in the morning. People complain food not fresh, well, that's because you bought it at the end of the day...at a discounted value. Sushi is meant to be eaten fresh anyway, so just be more lenient and understanding when the purchase is done few hours after being made. Staff is always courteous and helpful.

I have been seeing this market on ig reels and I've been meaning to stop by. I finally got the chance to see their premade produce section and there were more options than I thought. I wish I was able to take advantage of the 50% off after 8PM but I'm rarely in this area that late. I picked up a spicy salmon and scallop roll set for $11.50. Keep in mind they have a $8 minimum for credit card. The fish was fresh but the taste was nothing too special. I love how each roll is 8 pieces rather than 6 pieces. They also have an amazing selection of Japanese snacks and beverages. I would definitely stop by again if I'm in the area or at the other two Brooklyn locations.

I was mostly intrigued by the 50% off after 8PM deal. Still plenty items to choose from when I arrived. A great selection of all sorts of sushi, hot bowls/items. There's another huge section of kimchi, side dishes, sashimi, grilled eel etc. but those aren't part of the 50% off deal. The whole store is bright, organized, spacious and stocked with all kinds of snacks, mochi, desserts, drinks, and walls of freezers loaded with ice cream and frozen food. The sushi were average - ingredients are fresh. The sizes are on the smaller side - good value with the 50% off deal though.

Ten Ichi Mart is an Asian style market/ convenience store with 3 locations, cobble hill , williamsburg, and manhattan (23rd st) . I have found things from green tea kit kats to shrimp chips to kikchi to baby bok choi in the produce section and a variety of fabulous canned boba / milk tea drinks! but what keeps me coming back to Ten Ichi Mart is that every night at 8pm the stores fresh daily prepared sushi and hot foods all become 50% off! max limit of 2 for the sushi, unlimited for all hot / prepared foods (and the onigri's) it is a great value and while sometimes some of the hot food can taste like it has definitely been sitting around all day waiting for me and the long line of others to pick it up its still a meal i didn't pay full price for which makes it worth it! and alot of it taste fine! ive been able to try so many things especially from the hot foods section that I wouldn't even think of otherwise!

I am really excited to have this in our hood! I love Asian snacks and they are so hard to find in the city! They will have lunch options after 11:30 so I will be visiting frequently!!

Ten Ichi Mart was okay, nothing special. The fish didn't taste super fresh and was sliced pretty thin, but the prices were decent. They've got a good selection of rolls and some affordable sashimi slabs you can take home to cut yourself, which is nice. Staff was alright. It's an okay spot for a quick bite, but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. Might be better during their 50% off times.

Came by for the 50% hot foods after 8pm sale on a Thursday night so here's some tips. Be there by 7:40 the latest, otherwise the store starts getting packed. A line starts forming around that time as well but don't be alarmed it moves FAST. My friend and I were maybe third or fourth in line and we still checked out by 8:03 pm. We got there around 7:20 because we were in the area and wanted to make sure that we got first dibs and the chance to explore the store peacefully. It was definitely more than enough time but also we were standing on line waiting to check out for about ten min so we weren't really exploring for an entire forty min. It is a small store after all but there are lots of options. There's also mini sales happening on random items ranging between 30-50% off. Staff were super friendly and super helpful which definitely contributed heavily to my rating. When I asked if they had any pizza buns left in the hot food (having thought they were vegetarian lol) one of the employees was kind enough to walk me to the back to show me the frozen pizza buns and when I asked if they were vegetarian and she said they weren't she sought out veggie alternatives for me. Really appreciated that. As for the hot food selection (aka what's on sale post 8pm), don't make the effort to come down if you're vegetarian, there's nothing for you to eat lol. If you're pescatarian, there's shrimp, eel and salmon bowls, shumai, and onigiri. I personally don't like shrimp so the only thing I got was the teriyaki salmon and I did take a chance on the shrimp shumai. Funny enough I liked the shrimp shumai alot more than the salmon teriyaki. Salmon teriyaki had a very firm fillet of salmon and the veggies and sauce were relatively flavorless admittedly so not really worth having gotten there so early to grab. But I'm glad to have tried it and don't regret it at all.

This Japanese grocery store just opened Saturday, June 24, 2023, and it is perfection. - Sushi and hot foods section (onigiri, salmon teriyaki, chicken karaage, katsu, etc.) are on the left when you first come in, and they have lots of Japanese beverages as well. - There's a whole aisle dedicated to snacks with coolers full of mochi. - There's a small section in the back with fresh Asian vegetables and produce at affordable prices. - Another aisle contains bags of rice and Asian sauces, oils, and condiments. - Tip: Card minimum is $8 and prepared food is 50% off after 8pm. Cashiers and workers are nice and helpful. Everything is clean, and the price is unbeatable! (Less than $10 for salmon teriyaki with rice yes pls!) TLDR: I will be bringing my mom to this grocery store when she visits next. Ten Ichi complements the Whole Foods in Flatiron/NoMad area perfectly with its complete assortment of Asian snacks, ingredients, and prepared food.

discovered Ten Ichi after grocery shopping around Flat Iron and felt hungry --funny how that works!? Ten Ichi Mart is a Japanese grocery store that sells prepared foods like sushi rolls, oninigiri, Donburi rice bowls, and a variety of other cold and heated eats. the majority of the store is packed neatly with Japanese and other Asian grocery items from canned goods to frozen items to limited fresh produce to a variety of snacks and candies. seems like most people come here for the 8 pm discount where a bunch of prepared foods like the sushi, Donburi, etc. is 50% off...that's where the store gets super crowded as people grab items and wait in line for the discount to go into effect. the food quality of the prepared foods is a solidly good option when you're hungry and want a quick bite but again it's good but not sit down restaurant quality. been here several times and have tried the shumai, spam musubi, tatoyaki and gyoza -- all tasted fine...i'd say the tatoyaki was my favorite of the bunch. haven't tried the larger platters of rice + curry or any of the teriyaki bentos, yet. the staff is pretty friendly. Ten Ichi is located fairly close to Madison Square Park so if you don't feel like Shake Shack in the park...Ten Ichi is a good option for some al fresco dining if you're willing to pick up food and walk.

I'm so happy to have this Japanese market in the neighborhood! They have all the Asian snacks you could want (including various hard to find types of kit kat) as well as sushi and hot foods to grab for a quick meal. After 8 pm the sushi and hot food is 50% off, but a huge line definitely forms of people waiting for this perk. I have only attempted this once and arrived just past 8 pm to a line that wrapped around the store. It moved quickly and there was still plenty to choose from but not sure if that would be the case much later. Decent sushi quality for the value. If not 50% I might stick with the rice balls which are a good deal even without the discount. I often stop by when walking by to grab a green tea ice cream treat from the freezer.

Came here for the 50% off deal after 8PM. Tip: try to come here early. There was a lot of people already in the store and it was only 7:30:') And start lining up really early because the line gets long! It's a small store with cold & hot food as well as many Asian snacks, drinks, and other foods! We got the rice bowls and each came out to be around $5.50 after the deal. I had the cha siu kimchi rice bowl, and it was really filling! They gave a lot of pork, kimchi, and rice too! The pork was a bit dry but still very flavorful. I would come back again if I was too lazy to cook and had to eat for survival. The taste was pretty average and nothing mind blowing but still worth it for the price that I paid haha

my negative reviews are removed already 3times. This place is not honest. I won't shop here. Too commercials. Some workers left - they couldn't assist customers at all. I replied from the owner when I left 1star, however, they removed. Not trustable at all. I won't shop here, if you guys keep removing my reviews, I'll re-post again and again. I saw other reviews were honest as well. Don't buy udon noodles sold here, the quality is low. When you go to Japan, it won't cost $15. $5 for more delicious price + friendly and kind. Sushi is very hard when you buy around the evening. (I saw the price get 50% off) Mid age japanese woman is unfriendly and judgmental. I'm sure the management is not so good here. The cashiers keep changing.

A well stocked little store with lots of offerings - cold and hot food to go, vegetables, frozen foods, great selection of ramen noodles and treats. Grab a snack for on the go or better yet to enjoy in one of the nearby parks.

this was my second time stopping in for lunch and i was honestly more pleased with the selection than last time. even though it was mid-afternoon, there was still plenty of options and fresh food was being replenished. i was excited to get 2 types of onigiri - the shrimp tempura & lobster salad. they were good, but there is something weird about the spicy mayo that they use here. i'm sure it's just my personal preference, but it has an unusual aftertaste/hint of smokiness? my assumption is they use a different hot sauce than sriracha, but this flavor was quite unpleasant for my palate. thankfully, i was very happy with the shumai i also got. now that i know to avoid the spicy mayo, i'm looking forward to returning to try the 50% off after 8pm deal!

Ehhh I was not thrilled with the rice they used....a bit hard and just not flavorful. Tried a rice bowl with ell and tried the onigiri, i will save my money in future and go elsewhere

I enjoyed the onigiri, but the $8 card minimum was an unwelcome surprise. Feels like a way to force you to buy more stuff if you just want a snack. I don't really carry cash, so that'll make me less likely to return.

Tried this new place in our work neighborhood for the first time. Lots of nice options, and the food was good. But the one major issue is that the portion sizes on the bentos and bowls are way too small. I would suggest that customers would rather pay a few dollars more to have a normal sized bento, then have the small portions. Throw in some more rice and a few dumplings. I had to get other food to supplement the bento and it shouldn't be that way.

The 50% off deal is tempting but, unfortunately, this is a dishonest business. I was charged twice for the same sushi item (conveniently the most expensive one) and when I pointed it out after paying and noticing in the check the store workers apologized but said they could only give me store credit because they don't do refunds. They spent 10 minutes trying to give me credit and then told me that "their system can't do it" and to come back tomorrow. When I pointed out it is unreasonable to expect someone to come back a day later when there are different workers for a refund that should be given on the spot, one of the workers sighed dramatically and said "Jesus Christ." They kept saying "our system, our system" and did not end up refunding an item I did not receive and making me feel like the problem for inconveniencing them by pointing out that they overcharged me. The workers also grabbed my check from me to ensure I couldn't bring it back. Extremely disappointing and disrespectful treatment that does not inspire confidence that this is an honest business.
