Katy Asian Town’s Best Restaurants | Eater Houston

"Ten Seconds Yunnan Rice Noodle is a branch of popular Chinese noodle chain Shi Miao Dao that operates more than 750 shops in China. The “cross the bridge” rice noodle soup the restaurant is known for allows diners to choose from original chicken or pork broth, tomato or spicy málà, and an assortment of meats and vegetables to add into the bowl as they eat, which keeps the broth warmer for longer. If that sounds like a little too much work, there are ready-to-eat bowls with ingredients already assembled too." - Minh Truong

I always remember to take photos halfway through the meal. I really like their appetizers — I never expected their popcorn chicken to be this good! The spicy chicken in chili sauce, takoyaki, and spicy beef tripe are all delicious. I’ve tried their tomato rice noodles, dry-mixed rice noodles, pickled cabbage with beef, and spicy beef rice noodles — all excellent and generously portioned.

Google
THE RICE NOODLE HERE TASTES ABSOLUTELY AMAZING I LOVE IT, I’ve came here so many time already, the soup noodles are like $14 dollars and they offer a huge bowl that tastes so good. The service here are amazing too, i came here with my friends one time, and they don’t eat pork, it was the lady who work here reminded me to ask them do they want pork in their soup noodles. The only thing is that the non-spicy soup noodles don’t taste that good. This is definitely the best restaurant that I’ve been to.

Google
Love the food here- everything is really good. Options for spicy and non-spicy eaters :). I pretty much ordered everything here already. The portion sizes are very big and generous. I’m always super full. The fried taro ball appetizer is amazing and delicious. Decent bathrooms as well. Highly recommend Ten Second Noodles as my favorite hot noodle soup place in Katy Asian Town. The best dish is their fish maw chicken soup with either beef tendon or fish fillet.

Google
Overall, five star experience the food is delicious. Came out hot. The family had the bread, popcorn chicken, kimchi soup, and the Chinese soup. It’s nice that you could pick a different kind of protein(s) that you wanna add to the soup base. The parking was tight although there is a large parking lot on the other side of the stores. Clean facilities. The service was accommodating but they did seem a little busy to be proactive with checking in on us after we starting eating. Would recommend and look forward to coming back in the future.

First time here. Party of 7, no wait, Saturday night, walk-in. I got the Hot n Sour ready to eat noodle soup ($14.99) & sesame balls ($6). Gratuity is automatically added when you get the bill. My total was $27. Soup -huge serving -flavor: not sour, not spicy, & bland -would be better with Napa cabbage not an insane amount of lettuce. 5/10 Sesame balls (app) -7 small Taro filled balls. Pretty good. 8/10 In all there ARE better places, but I do like that they give you a LOT. I gave points because any hot soup feels great with the cold weather outside, but I should've gone to the Pho shop next door regarding to flavor.

Google
We actually found hair in the rice noodles. The boss was eating next to us, and when we discussed the hair in the food, he pretended not to hear us. The hygiene was so poor, and the service was also bad. I will not come here again.

Google
Delicious rice noodles no matter which one you order. And that means a lot coming from someone that knows their noodles and has eaten a ton. Always hit the spot

Google
Pretty great food as always I’ve come here since the opening and the food quality has always been good Although I always get the original rice noodle so I haven’t branched out much to other foods Unfortunate this time I was drinking the soup and I found a piece of plastic 😞

Yelp
Good food. Fish maw chicken soup is my favorite! We have been coming here for a few years and we love to bring visitors to this place because the noodles come out super hot and very tasty. Large portion sizes.

Yelp
I like my soup. It was tasty and filled of toppings. The place is very clean, and service is great. The Hot and Sour soup could have used more aromatic. I just feel like it's missing something.. Popcorn chicken (4/5) : the crunch is really good but the flavor wasn't very taiwanese Takoyaki (5/5) : I like the takoyakis here. Crunchy and tasty... yumm!

Yelp
We had Sauerkraut cabbage soup & Make Your Own rice noodle with Kimchi soup base. The Sauerkraut soup was a bit spicy, but other than that both dishes were pretty good.

Yelp
Huge potion of tasty noodles that were very well priced. I love all the different things in the soup and the broth was so flavorable. The noodles were nice and chewy and it was exactly what I wanted. There were a lot of options to make the soup suit your preferences with different veggie and tofu options, etc. The appetizers were great too. Will be back again for their golden hot and sour soup! Until then I will just be dreaming about it.

Yelp
This has a family atmosphere. This place has a busy Saturday lunch crowd and the seating is limited. Fortunately, for us there was not a long wait for a 2 top. Service was friendly and quick. Once seated, our drink order was taken and we put in an order for a couple of appetizers- Popcorn Chicken (crispy bite size pieces with a tasty sauce... a must order) and Takoyaki (light crispy outside, flavorful toppings). Then I ordered the Cross the Bridge Rice Noodle with the Original Pork Bone Soup (aka assemble your own soup... which was delicious, everything went it to make a hearty and rich soup ). My dining companion ordered the Fish Maw Soup - soup base was yummy. Parking is shared in the complex and can be a pain on the weekends but is worth enduring to come and have yummy noodle soup.

Yelp
Big hot bowl of soup with rice noodles for a pretty good deal. Pretty much like a personal hot pot. I had the pork bone soup with beef slices. No wait for 2 during 12:30pm lunchtime on a Saturday. Very friendly service!
google avatar

Yelp
Food - Original Pork Bone Broth: Tastes very comforting and homey. Perfect for chilly weather or when you're feeling under the weather. A great dish to warm yourself up! 8.5/10 Hot Pot Broth: My friend ordered this and enjoyed it. However, she felt it was nothing extraordinary and lacked a bit of seasoning. 8/10 Service - Helpful and attentive! 10/10

Yelp
We got the mala beef tripe. The mala soup was delicious. The bowl looked small but it was pretty deep and had lots of toppings in it. I would have liked a little more vegetables added into the toppings but other than that the food was amazing. Perfect when craving spicy noodles.

Yelp
My second trial of yunnan noodles, I can surely concluded that it's not my favorite. The original soup was kind of bland, the shimmered chicken was mediocre. Yunnan noodles soup could be a pretty good meal for me when I'm sick and need something watery and plain. Four stars are for the great service and friendly staffs.
google avatar

Kevin C.

Yelp
Fairly decent sized restaurant with packed tables and seating inside. Nice touch having the original story of the 10 second yunnan rice noodle soup on the wall display. Service was quick to take our order and friendly as well. We started off with fried calamari and popcorn chicken. The calamari was average 3/5, but the popcorn chicken was 5/5. The appearance and fried skin looked dull and unassuming, but the flavor and seasoning were incredible-- so delicious. Then everyone at the table got the make your own cross the bridge rice noodle soup. I got pork bone broth, my wife got the Szechuan mala spicy soup, and the others got the green pepper soup. The Szechuan is a great bold flavor to have in the soup. The pork bone broth was a bit too bland. I added everything to my soup base, including chili garlic oil and some soy sauce, which made it slightly better. There isn't a lot of beef slices unfortunately. But they give plenty of rice noodles which only take 10 seconds to cook fully. The noodles were excellent!

Yelp
I'm so glad we decided to come here instead of going to a pho shop. It is somewhat difficult to figure what to eat if you're a first timer. Waitress wasn't really enthusiastic when asking questions, I even used my crappy mandarin.. oh wells. We all got the customized noodles and picked our own soup. It was great! Felt like hot pot but knew that it wasn't. Need to put those raw meat in asap to cook properly. It is very loud inside and packed. They gave a good amount of noodles/food that was difficult to finish. I want to go back again and try the other soup bases!

Rose L.

Yelp
Food and service was fantastic! We had the cream cheese Rangoons and the Tiger Fried Rice! It was delicious!

Yelp
Finally got to try this place out and asked a friend for recommendations before dining in! Should've listened to her when she told me to get the sesame balls, but I decided to get the fried buns with condensed milk. The buns were on the drier side, so I had to compensate for the dryness by completely drenching it into the condensed milk. It was okay just wouldn't get it again. The noodles were fireeeee. I really really wanted to try it hotpot style, but I wasn't feeling it cuz it be too hot right now. I'll definitely try that next time. Portion was BIG. Flavors were BIG. The noodles were soft and silky. Enjoyed all the toppings, especially the dried radish and cucumber that gave it that nice crunch. Some of the beef slices were tough to chew on but nothing too terrible. The meat doesn't have much flavor because it all comes from the noodles! The spicy wasn't overly spicy, so if needed, you can always add the chili oil on the side. Service was alright, probably because it was noon, and everyone was coming in for lunch, our waiter barely checked in on us. We didn't get any water refills, but thankfully I was carrying a bottle in my bag lol bc I was getting parched from eating all the noodles and bread. Parking can be rough since it is Katy Asian town. It was a Thursday early afternoon, and I already had to park all the way down by soju 101. Can't imagine the chaos when it's peak time! I will be back!

Yelp
Located in the HMart and JC Penny shopping strip so parking can be difficult during peak hours. Our server was super nice and helped us make our selections since it was our first time. We ordered the pre-made hot and sour soup and the szechuan mala hot pot - both were a 10/10! Will definitely be back.

Yelp
Went here on a Saturday for dinner. The restaurant was full but luckily we didn't have to wait. There was a line after us though. Food was really good and a good spot if you're looking for comfort food. We got the popcorn chicken as an appetizer. It tastes way better than it looks. The type of batter they use has a lighter color than the darker color we're used to for popcorn chicken. It was really flavorful and had a good crunch to it. The Cross the Bridge Rice Noodles are the way to go! They bring your broth out in a hot stone bowl. If you're like me and you like your noodle soups super hot to where it'll burn your mouth, you'll love this. I got the Szechuan Mala Spicy broth. This was really good if you're looking for the Szechuan spice. A friend ordered the green pepper broth which ended up being everyone's favorite broth. The color doesn't look like it would be spicy but it had a szechuan spice too with additional umami flavor to it. It was so good and I was jealous her broth was better so I'm definitely going to come back to order that.

Yelp
Food 5/5 Service 5/5 Ambiance 4/5 Delicious boat noodles soup aka vermicelli aka bun. I decided to try something different from pho or ramen and stumbled upon this Chinese boat noodle restaurant. I tried the golden pickled beef noodle soup. The broth is full of flavor! Packed of umami and a little sour and i added chili oil for a little kick! Hefty portion of beef and I added Lamb. Delicious!! Service was top notch.
google avatar

Christopher C.

Yelp
Popcorn chicken is swell here, the noodle soup comes out quickly and is quite heavy. The schezuan soup base is a good level of spice but will not blow your taste buds, the beef strips were plentiful and thin, and the added accompaniments were nice to eat Kind wait staff and the ambiance is table to table crowded Cheers!
google avatar

Sandra K.

Yelp
Had a quick little lunch here with my toddler and they were so kind and nice and quick. The soups were delicious and full of flavor. We split the two bowls between the three of us even with leftovers. Really great food and every bite had something in it.
google avatar

Jasmine T.

Yelp
Everything was absolutely delicious! Loved their rice noodles, it was the perfect amount of chewy-ness and their broths were very flavorful. We Paired their noodle soups with beef slices and beef tendon, each was cooked perfectly and soaked up the flavor of the broth very well. Not pictured was their popcorn chicken and cucumber, but they were also delicious. I also had their passion fruit green tea, which was so refreshing and will definitely come back just to have it again. Can't wait to return and to try their other dishes. Our waiter was very nice and gave some great recommendations, and lucky for us, we came fright before the dinner rush!
google avatar

Christine T.

Yelp
Amazing noodle dishes here! You are able to choose what you would like and then have toppings to add on if you would like. The service was okay but understandable since it was pretty busy that night! As for the environment, it was filled with people since it was a chilly night!
google avatar

Kaylee G.

Yelp
Service was amazing It was busy so we had to wait a little but it wasn't to bad 10/10 for the make your own soup! The noodle where springy and slurpy 10/10 Original Cross the Bridge Rice Noodle Soup broth: Szechuan Mala 10/10 Golden hot and sour 10/10 Fried sesame balls, filled with red bean-10/10

Yelp
My wife and I frequent this Ten Seconds Yunnan Rice Noodle location at least once a week, even though we have to drive a long way to get there. The noodles are consistently good, the restaurant feels clean, and our favorite waiter, Evan even has our order memorized. I've visited other Ten Seconds Noodle locations, but they're not as good.
google avatar

Josh L.

Yelp
Dear Lord, please bless all the dishwashers due to their small serving bowl and plates. They have sooooo many dishes to wash, and they deserve many thanks for all their hard work. Let's talk about the food. The way they serve the food is very aesthetically pleasing. My girlfriend comes here all the time, and this was only my second time coming, and I am continuously impressed by the way they do things here. If you order the Make Your Own, the dishwashers have to wash 16 dishes. They deserve so much more. On my most recent visit, my girlfriend and I both got the Make Your Own Noodle Soup. I got the Original Pork Bone Broth, and she got the Golden Hot and Sour (more mild). That soup can really pack a punch. They offer booth seating, individual seating, high table seating, and long table seating. Perfect for any size group!
google avatar

Matthew P.

Yelp
Ten seconds is great for hot pot for one maybe even 2. It may not be fancy like Shabu or a family style hot pot options but it has great selections. Lots of different combos and ways to create your noodle bowl Though most of their noodle soups bowls are pork base they can substitute most of them to a vegetable base soup for $1 more. I've had the bowls where it's all cooked already and where you kind of cook it yourself. Either way is enjoyable to eat. The popcorn chicken is pretty tasty also. Overall the place is a nice place with good food. I do wish their noodles weren't so long which makes it hard to eat cause it doesn't stay on the spoon or chopsticks.
google avatar

Victoria T.

Yelp
This was so delicious. The noodles had great texture and AMAZING portion size. It's a lot of food for the money you pay - definitely worth it and highly recommend! The popcorn chicken was also so yummy. Service was great as well. Clean and very nicely decorated.

Malachi M.

Yelp
So I'd say 7.5/10, solid place with giant portions but just know that they only serve soup and noodles. There was a lot of different items in the soup and made for a really interesting experience. Everyone was really kind and they helped accommodate our palates with some absolutely boom chicken noodle soup. Then the atmosphere was pretty modern, nothing superb about it but definitely clean and well serviced. If you wanta try some of the best soup I've ever had I'd definitely recommend,

Yelp
One of my favorite places for a quick lunch in Katy Asia Town. This was one of my favorite noodle dishes and I occasionally have cravings for. This crossing the bridge noodle set is definitely the way to go. I've never been disappointed every time that ai have this here. I tend to like the golden hot and sour broth but the green pepper one is delicious too.

Rachel X.

Yelp
We love this place! It's conveniently located inside Jusgo, and everything is fresh and delicious! Here are some of our go to dishes - We (especially the kids) love the chicken nuggets (Asian styled 鹽酥雞), soup dumplings (Xiao long Bao) cucumbers (it's not spicy, does have peanuts), brown sugar mochi (紅糖滋巴), sesame balls and the noodle soups. We normally get the chicken soup, and the kids love the tomato one where they can put all the ingredients in by themselves, so fun! The staff is always so friendly, and they are considerate of our kids every time we visit. They check on us often to make sure everything is good. We love everything here!
google avatar

Yelp
Visited the Katy location and was pleasantly impressed. My boyfriend and I ordered the cross the bridge rice noodles. The soup came in a cool bowl that keeps the bowl warm. The waiters are nice and kind service was fast. Restaurant itself is clean.
google avatar

Jacquelyn C.

Yelp
4.5/5 The portion sizes here are HUGE and for some reason I always forget that. The service here is also fast and the bowls come out quickly. This time our noodles were slightly overcooked, but overall we had a great meal. Their spicy is not that spicy, and they also have pots of chili on the table in case you need to add more spice. We also really enjoyed the popcorn chicken. Will be returning!
google avatar

Allyson K.

Yelp
I love Ten Second Noodle! I try to come here every week, and their golden hot and sour soup is a comforting and tasty broth and complemented with the noodles and various ingredients make it so delicious!!

Yelp
THE BIG: Located in the Katy shopping center with all the other Asian shops. Plenty of parking nearby. Restaurant is big with plenty of seating and seat on your own. THE BLACK AND WHITE: I came here with a couple of friends on our road trip to Houston. Houston always has great Asian food, this was no different. The menu was vast with your customization of soup broth base and protein. I got the hour and sour soup with beef. It was a big bowl and just the right amount of spicy. The other peeps got the hotpot bowls. It was an Instagram able pic for sure for all those food influencers. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall ~$14 for a large soup bowl with amazing ingredients. Highly recommend and will be back when I'm in the Houston metro area.
google avatar

Yelp
Loved my lunch at Ten Seconds! I came on a Saturday afternoon and was seated immediately. Service was quick and great as well. I ordered the Kimchi Rice Noodle cross bridge and WOW! You get a plate of meat, veggies and fixings to put in a hot boiling pot of soup. The noodles were very fresh and and cooked to perfection. The broth had a right level of sour and spice flavor. For $11.99, this was a very affordable meal! Highly recommend and can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Neko T.

Yelp
if you do the cross the bridge.... you get a bowl of scalding hot soup (you choose the broth) then you dump in your ingredients + noodles i'd recommend adding more protein. cause 4 thin slices of meat + one quail egg ain't gonna cut it lol was tasty. would recommend

Yelp
My friends took me here for lunch when I was exploring Katy Asian Town and this was my first time coming. It was raining and kind of gloomy, so I was wanting something cozy and warm and this place was suggested. The restaurant itself is relatively small, but still comfortable. We all ordered our own "make it your own" ramen/hotpot type deal & so I ordered the tomato broth. They serve it hot right at your table and you can add in whatever you like and always order more at an extra cost. It comes with A LOT of noodles, meats, and veggies. The broth tasted like a thick tomato soup, which isn't entirely what I expected basing it off of the tomato bases from other hot pot places, but it was still really good. After putting in all the fixing's, I just waited a few seconds to ensure it was all getting cooked properly, and it was ready to eat. The meat was tender and the noodles were really nice, thick, and had a good chew. The noodles were probably the best part of the meal since it really had good texture and bite. It was very filling though. I felt that I barely made a dent in my noodles and only placed 1/3 of it into my broth - it was really filling. We also ordered some appetizers, but I forgot to take some pictures. We ordered the takoyaki, popcorn chicken, and the Schezwan spiced beef tripe. I am a sucker for takoyaki and popcorn chicken anywhere, so I was very happy with the appetizer selection. The beef tripe was interesting... not really my cup of tea, but it was good. However, I was eating the takoyaki like crazy and enjoying the popcorn chicken like no one's business. Overall, I had a really good experience here and the food was just as good. Completely came here blind, not knowing what to expect, and left feeling happy and glad I tried something new that I definitely will come back for.
google avatar

Yelp
Definitely a place I'd order again from. Generous helpings of soup dishes nicely balanced. They're not stingy on the meat and side items. The drinks however, are a bit pricey. A single cam of coke that they serve over ice with a mason jar is $2. Their advertised 10 seconds; more like 30 seconds from order to table. Not even kidding. Their service staff are professional but need more warmth and should check on customers and proactively offer things like taking dishes away, napkins, refills where applicable. It's a semi cramped place and It's not soft enough noise wise to hold join any conference calls though. Depending on the time you go, the parking situation is hit or miss. This place hands down beats Tiger Den Noodle House for the same styles of soup. Just drive the extra 10 minutes; it's worth it to come here. Even their Togo containers are equipped.
google avatar

Ana L.

Yelp
So I wouldn't be so upset if they had just apologized and offered to fix it, but I ordered a spicy dry noodle, and it wasn't spicy at all. When I asked to confirm if that's what I got, she said she'll check, and showed me the screen that DID NOT say spicy on it at all. She outright lied to my face and said yes it was spicy, and tried to tell me that they don't make it that spicy there... dude... I've been there before and it WAS spicy before! Looked like I wasn't getting it fixed, because I wasn't about to argue, so I just put a bunch of chili oil in it. It wasn't the same. I was in such a bad mood the rest of the time... and to make things worse, when you pay, the lowest tip it gives you an option of is 18%. I was so mad! I probably will never come back, and will recommend against it to everyone else!

Yelp
We came on a Friday night and it was really full, but we managed to be seated within less than ten minutes. I ordered the "cross the bridge rice noodle" make your own with Szechuan mala spicy soup. I got it extra spicy and it was so delicious! I didn't use all of the toppings (specially shrimp since I'm allergic but that's my bad I didn't read the details very well), but it was all really tasty and filling. This is a new instant fave for my boyfriend and I.
google avatar

Yelp
The first time comer! I had a bowl of hot mushroom soup with noodles It's very flavorful and delicious noodles! I put some chilly oil and vinegar but honestly the original one is better! Definitely, good to come and experience some of delicious noodles here! I like the modern China like vibe here and quite cool place! The price is reasonable and less than $15 bucks for a big bowl of noodles! Come and enjoy Cheers

Yelp
No wonder this spot has a 5 star rating. The food was very good & servers were nice & prompt. I also loved the decor, it had like a traditional feel to it but also modern at the same time. I decided to order their Szechuan mala spicy beef stew soup (mild) with added fish balls (can't go wrong with fish balls). WOW, when I received my order I was thinking to myself how the heck am I going to finish this. The portion was generous & you can share a little bit with your friends. This soup is perfect for a cold day & it just warms the soul. The broth was delicious, had great Unami flavor, savory & perfect amount of heat. The beef was tender and melt in ya mouth. I also got to try my friend Takoyaki & I thought it wasn't that good. The sauce was fine but the inside tasted mushy. I was expecting for it to be chewy not mushy. My other friend ordered the Cross the bridge & in my opinion it was well organized the way it was set up. Kind of reminds me of a hot pot. His broth was a bit on the lighter side but good nonetheless. If you want more flavor, just add some spice to it. Overall, it was a great experience from start to finish. Considering it was very busy, the servers were very patient & kind to us. I can't wait to come back.

Yelp
a hidden gem in Katy Asian town. HUGE portion (since it's a $15 bowl of noodle), good noodle good soup, should go with a group. I could never finish all of it at once and the nice lady always helps me pack it up since I would definitely be making a mess if I did it myself. 15/10 recommend

Yelp
This place is tasty & wasn't packed on a Sunday night while the area was busy. Great food. The tempura shrimp were very good along with the dipping sauce. My wife is a picky eater and she loved the broth of the pork broth soup. I had the spicy Mala broth with beef & ate it all. The popcorn chicken is a must in my opinion - hot fresh and tasty. We will be going back for sure. My only complaint is the tea isn't free refills. It was so so good though.

Yelp
Super filling (honestly could share) bowls of Yunnan noodles. Service was friendly and prompt. You can order off the menu with a variety of meats and soup bases (original bone broth, nonspicy tomato, mala) or choose to build you own. There's also some appetizers (including dessert items like fried buns, fried brown sugar rice cake, sesame balls). I tried the mala, original and tomato broths-- all of which are delicious. The bone broth isn't as thick as a tonkatsu ramen broth if you're wondering what to expect. Each bowl comes with a range of mix-ins that are fun to eat. Definitely will return!

Yelp
This place totally exceeded my expectations. The soup is flavorful and there plenty of ingredients in the bowl. I got the pork bone soup with pork chop and the pork chop was very flavorful and meaty. The soup was full of umami and creamy. I also tried their Szechuan mala beef stew and it tasted just like mala hot pot soup. Spice level I would say is about 6/10 (I'm kind of weak with spice). Their popcorn chicken looked way better than I expected. It was super soft and juicy on the inside. Despite the hard and crunchy appearance, the outside was actually not that hard which was nice. The seasoning wasn't heavy and the sweet sauce paired well with it. One problem I had was I think some chicken was not fully cooked because it was harder to chew and a little red inside.

Yelp
If I could give 10 stars I would. Great food, environment and service! I forgot the name of this plate but the sweet breads are also excellent!

Yelp
Absolutely delicious noodles. Super quick service, friendly staff, lots of families munching. A really great vibe! Tried the Cross the Bridge Original! Loved getting to make the dish ourselves and watching the meat and veggies cook in the hot broth. The additional soup add ins were delicious as well. The noodles were chewy and the broth was so hearty. Loved every bite of this meal and slurped up all the soup. A large portion, enough for two! Also tried the sesame balls and the fried steam buns with sweet condensed milk. The sesame balls were good, not the biggest fan of the filling though, I do wish it were red bean. The sweet condensed milk dipped steam buns were incredible. The soft dough mixed with the subtle fried flavor and the milk were an amazing pairing. A splendid meal!!
