Ten Thousand Coffee Review - Midtown East - New York - The Infatuation

"The owners of this Korean-inspired coffee shop spent 10,000 hours becoming experts in the art of making the perfect coffee before they opened a cafe, which we think is… pretty cool, actually. The iced einspanner is their signature drink, combining fluffy layers of some kind of delicious cream (the recipe is secret and impossible to replicate, so they say), ice, milk, and espresso, then topping it off with a dusting of bittersweet cocoa powder. Resist the urge to mix it all up with a straw, and instead take slow, thoughtful sips, savoring each flavor and texture, not thinking about whatever task you’re putting off by drinking this coffee." - Carina Finn

This particular cafe reminds me of the chic, minimal aesthetic of ones I'd been to in Seoul. 이거 괜찮아요. Things you should know: I. SERVICE I asked for guidance with the menu and the unhelpful response I got was, "it's preference." That's it. As someone who works in service, that response would not & did not satisfy. II. QUALITY I'd say the name is of high quality: Ten Thousand Coffee. They say it takes 10,000 hours of repetition for something to be considered mastered. An iced Einspänner was a new concept I never tried but wanted to experience. Kudos to the company for trying different twists to original beverages but I can't say it's as enjoyable cold. The Einspänner is better hot with the contrasting, cold whipped cream on top! The Onyx is a good option to try as well. III. CAPACITY Slim seating is available. I highly recommend just ordering to-go.

Google
A reliable specialty cafe brand that I find myself revisiting once in a while. They are one of the few specialty cafe that can make pull over that makes me think worth it, the outcome is usually floral and clean. The drinks and bakery are also more than good and consistent enough for a chain.

Google
First time trying out 10000, attracted by its contemporary decor and hip vibe. The shop has a overall clean look to it due to the interior colors are mainly white or neutral. Great branding strategy with the merch corner shelves displays. I am normally a black coffee or expresso drinker and this time decided to give their signatures a try, and had the Einspanner….way too sweet for my taste. Others in the group had the Matcha Einspanner, chocolate pound cake and new york roll with matcha cream. And … The bakery items were delicious, but definitely not fresh made from that day. This is the another down side with coffee shops that don’t have their won bakery attached. Service: from since we entering the shop to order to pick up the order, there were no smile on the workers faces, nor a friendly tone in communication, just felt so cold from service to attitudes. Maybe this is a NewYorker thing??? I doubt. And… they forgot to give us one of our orders, we waited and waited, ended up had to get back to counter to ask. Value: for new york standard, their pricing is comparable. Most of the items on the menu are priced reasonable. Given the limited number of seatings in the shop, definitely do not recommend for large group, unless is for take out orders.

Google
I finally got the chance to visit this café over the weekend after hearing so much about it. From the moment I walked in, I was impressed by how well-branded and unique the space felt—it really left a strong impression. I ordered the Matcha Einspänner with oat milk, and honestly, it’s one of the best drinks I’ve had in the city. The matcha flavor was perfectly balanced, and the drink was so smooth and satisfying. Most places are good for a one-time visit, but this is definitely a spot I can see myself coming back to regularly. Highly recommend!

Google
I tried their famous Einspanner coffee and it did not disappoint!!! Rainy afternoon walk in NYC was worth it!! 🥰 Seating capacity in the store was limited and I went on a weekend that’s why it was packed. Paid 7.57 for this drink including tax. 🤎

Google
I love this place!! One of my fave coffee shops in the city. I got an espresso crème latte one of their signatures. It’s so good and the cream goes very well with the drink. They have a few tables and seats. I wouldn’t recommend coming here to do work since it’s always packed and could be quite noisy but for a quick sit down or grab and go its ideal!

Google
This café is more than just a coffee stop it’s an experience. Ten Thousand Coffee balances sleek Korean-inspired aesthetics with top-notch brewing techniques. From the moment you step in, it’s serene and sophisticated, like caffeine therapy. I tried their iced vanilla latte and was genuinely impressed by how clean and layered it tasted sweet without being sugary, bold but never bitter. Pair that with a croissant and a quiet corner seat, and you’ve got yourself a perfect morning ritual. It’s fast becoming one of my go-to favorites in the city.

Google
I got a hot oat matcha latte and it was one of the best lattes I’ve had. It was nicely sweetened and super frothy. I also got the chocolate latte and asked for an espresso and it was really good too. The atmosphere is also super nice. I recommend!

Yelp
Yupppppp. That's all I can say. I even looked into franchising it because LA needs this. I've had my fair share of vienna lattes but this really was the best one. Everything was balanced. I will miss it. Come to LA.
google avatar

Jessie W.

Yelp
First of all, NOT closed. Not sure who submitted that info. Bright, open interior. Minimalistic menu. Plenty of beans and merch. Delicious cloud castella. Other baked goods look just ok. Pourover 5/5 per the hubs. "Dark chocolate latte" disappointing -- just a hot chocolate, not particularly dark.
google avatar

Yelp
I've been here twice now and have pretty mixed reviews about this place. The first time I came, I got the Einspanner latte and did not like it at all. Not sure if it was just the day, but it looked nothing like the pictures I'd seen online and was basically all milk. Honestly felt like I was drinking a glass of milk. I came back a second time to give it another shot and this time ordered a vanilla latte, which was way better but nothing special. But it did make me want to give the einspanner latte another shot!
google avatar

Christina Y.

Yelp
This was my first time ever trying an einspanner, and I loved it so much, I came back for more on multiple days haha. I'm a big fan of flavored foams or just foams/creams on top of coffee drinks and the einspanner just hits the spot perfectly for that craving. Vietnamese coffee will always be my favorite, though. The service was really nice and the wait was never too long for drinks. This will probably be my go-to spot for a coffee treat whenever I'm in the area. Don't sleep on it!

Yelp
I was in luck finding this place that serves Einspänner!!! The last one I had was in SoCal. It was a short walk from the Hyatt, so easy peasy. Small coffee shop, but very modern interior and stark white. Inviting and I ended up spending an hour chatting with my friend there. Lines came and went, ebb and flow, but the baristas was top notch. The Einspänner was everything I hoped for, but the cream was not as thick as the one I had elsewhere. However, it made it a lot easier to drink! I got the hot one and my friend had the iced, both fantastic! Would love to try their Ube latte one day, whenever I'm back in NYC!
google avatar

Nat B.

Yelp
The Ube Latte was not what I expected... It didn't have the taste and the consistency like other typical Ube beverages. Mind you, I am a Ube fanatic. You know how you go to a fancy-looking restaurant at a hotel, thinking that the food would be bussin', but it turns out that it didn't? That's how I felt about the Ube at Ten Thousand Coffee. Aside from the lackluster drink, it's clean inside, and the barista was nice.
google avatar

Jude B.

Yelp
Clean and nice interior, with many tables and outlets. The baristas were so nice with explaining exactly what every drink was. I got the einspanner and it was truly so good and one of the best that I have tried. I got a bag of their NYC beans and the barista poured me a fresh bag. Definitely recommend!
google avatar

Nathan W.

Yelp
This place slaps! The einspanner is the perfect level of sweet and the espresso cream latte is unique and gives a desserty feel to the drink overall. I really like the mix of the cream and sweetness overall. They have it down here! A good amount of searing and it worked as a work place for a couple of hours but definitely don't plant to stay here all day because the benches are hard and your back and butt will definitely let you know. Service was top notch they were very nice and the vibes were very chill making the ambiance and the overall mood of the coffee shop great to work in
google avatar

Caitlin K.

Yelp
Price is definitely steep for the size of the cup they give. But definitely very unique. I ordered the Einspanner iced with oatmilk and a shot of vanilla. Definitely worth trying out but not sure if I'd be running to come back because I can't afford dropping $9 on a coffee daily.
google avatar

Nancy H.

Yelp
The matcha einspanner isn't located on the menu, but I was able to order it. I'm not sure if it's part of some secret menu, or if it's dependent on who's working that day and knows how to make it. The matcha einspanner was delicious! The matcha cream foam was fluffy with a subtle matcha flavor and the coffee part wasn't too bitter for me. As someone who doesn't really drink coffee, I liked that. I do wish the matcha flavor in the foam was more prominent though. For the purple sweet potato latte, the flavor was more prominent compared to other sweet potato lattes I've had in the past and one of the better ones I've had. It was a bit sweet for my liking. I would order both again! There's a few seats for in the coffee shop and a few outdoor seats. Some customers had their laptops and were getting work done.

Yelp
Delicious Ube sweet potato latte No gluten free desserts or snacks Service took a while

Yelp
Einspänners currently have a chokehold on me, and I feel like the luckiest girl to get to indulge in one every day of my short 4 day NY trip. The OG einspänner- 10/10. Classic. Strong. Delicious. Thicc. The Matcha einspänner - 100/10. Everything the OG was but more. This is exactly how I envisioned a matcha einspänner to be. Usually the ones I have is using regular thick cream with matcha latte as the base, by here, they use matcha as the cream, espresso as the base. I think overall it keeps the integrity of a strong einspänner and the matcha is just *chefs kiss* The space is bright and clean - if I was a local, I would possibly come to wfh!
google avatar

Shabrin M.

Yelp
I really, really, wish there was something a ten thousand coffee in SoCal but I have to go allll the way to NY to enjoy their yummy drinks! We ordered the matcha einspanner (I had a regular einspanner last time) and a purple potato latte. All of their drinks are on point! Literally no complaints! I tried a cloud castella this time and it was literally dessert lol but very good. It has a soft chocolate mousse-like filling inside. Their service was pretty quick. It's a busy coffee shop, but we found seats fairly quickly! There are a lot of people coming in and out so maybe not an ideal coffeeshop to study in, but definitely the perfect one to hang out with a friend and catch up! Can't wait for another visit to the other side of the country for this cup of coffee
google avatar

Alisa F.

Yelp
The einspänner latte was one of the best coffees I've ever had! The amaretto cream was sweet, but didn't overpower the espresso. The drink was creamy and the coffee was strong, so it paired perfectly. I came here three times on my three day trip to New York. I will miss Ten Thousand Coffee when I'm back in Seattle.
google avatar

Dan P.

Yelp
Matcha einspanner - basically sweetened matcha cream foam topped on vanilla coffee latte. matcha foam has subtle matcha flavor but mixes well with the latte. overall, drink is on the sweeter side. Service was quick and friendly. Lots of tables and seatings, a bit loud and crowded for a studying spot.
google avatar

Amber P.

Yelp
Tens across the board this was by far the best coffee in nyc and I'm sure of it because i got two cups two different types. I can't wait to go to the city , it's clean the music was good the staff was delightful and helpful with a lot of knowledge on the items i love this place
google avatar

Justice B.

Yelp
Walked in on a fairly busy Thursday late morning, was helped right away. We had a really good service experience, and the eispanner was delicious. The ambiance is bright, decently sized cafe that can get busy, so have a backup plan because seating is limited. My only gripe, the pastries aren't made fresh, but I highly appreciate the honesty.
google avatar

Aleena A.

Yelp
Friendly and competent staff working effectively and explaining the delicious drink options. Very unique option for espresso with fresh cream. Want to come back for the purple potato drink!
google avatar

Nini M.

Yelp
REALLY GOOD COFFEE!! We got the expresso creme latte!! Light but good!! Service was ok. Wasn't that welcoming. Cute little coffee shop.
google avatar

Ashley H.

Yelp
I've never tried anything like this before - the espresso cream latte has a thiccccccc creamy foam on top that encapsulates the milk down below. Probably would order this again for a dessert but not for a daily drink. SO good though try it out. Ambiance is very clean and minimal with a few spots to sit and work or people watch. Seats aren't super cozy so probably wouldn't wanna spend too much time here.
google avatar

Janet L.

Yelp
The iced Einspanner is special. Hope to get it every time I visit New York. This time, I noticed the flavors more--the majority of the thick sturdy cream on top is mascarpone flavored, like tiramisu. I think there's also a little dollop of whipped cream. Then the drink on the bottom is a nicely bitter, strong, complex espresso mixed with a little milk of your choice. Other reviews are mixed on whether it's a good place to do some work. I enjoyed working here around 8-9 am on a weekday morning. Most tables weren't occupied, though there were some other people so not necessarily a quiet environment. Appreciated the clean spacious bathroom.
google avatar

Jackie H.

Yelp
Love this spot. I usually get the einspanner but had to try the matcha one. It was creamy, delicious and I only wish they had larger sizes. The yuja summer drink was okay if you like yuzu and little bits of citrus skin jelly like bits on the bottom. Aesthetic for sure but not for me. A plus for bathrooms and a generally clean and bright spot with spaces to sit.
google avatar

Aleeya W.

Yelp
Went here on a whim walking around the Broadway area. Such a cute little spot with a minimalistic vibe. The service was nice and speedy. I got a mocha iced coffee with oat milk. I enjoyed it. I didn't have much, but this was probably the best coffee I had my whole trip. I would for sure return.
google avatar

Natalee D.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised by this coffee shop! There was a bunch of seating inside which was really nice. The staff were helpful in giving opinions and options which is much appreciated. I also think they did a good job of making sure everyone's drinks came out with decent timing even though it was busy. The space was cute and bright. The coffee was very good. I got just an iced latte but my friend got one of their special drinks (picture attached) and she loved it.
google avatar

Kevin P.

Yelp
Iced espresso with a matcha cream top? What's not to love! When coffee almost costs $10 nowadays this is definitely less than that but the quality and what you pay for is totally worth it! Plenty of seating inside and the simple ambiance makes this a place to sit on a computer, read, or take a friend to!
google avatar

Clarizza A.

Yelp
Onyx latte (3.5/5) - it's a chocolatey cold brew, pretty good! I like that it doesn't have the bitter coffee taste. almost reminds me of a mocha but less thick Einspaneer (3/5) - very creamy, comes with thick whipped cream. flavor is all right, doesn't seem to be very strong caffeine wise Service here was great overall and they have a good amount of seating.
google avatar

Sirena W.

Yelp
I got a hot einspanner as I prefer my first coffee of the day hot, but in hindsight, after seeing everyone have an iced one I might have made the wrong choice. The cream melted into the drink quickly and although it was a good creamy drink, I'm not sure I understand the hype. Maybe I'll try again another day, but for now color me indifferent.
google avatar

Kathy M.

Yelp
5 stars for their Eispanner - served cold ( a favorite) and their americano in midtown Manhattan. Great coffee to milk ratio, bold, smooth and creamy consistency for this drink. Topped with their specialty cream and cocoa powder. There is a nuttiness to this drink and just the right amount of sweetness wherein you are not doubting that this isn't a dessert. Would come back just for this! Interior is modern and fresh, service was friendly and fast this day.
google avatar

Shannon S.

Yelp
The shop is absolutely gorgeous but the einspanner I had left a lot to be desired. It looked aesthetically pleasing, but it was nasty. It wasn't for me. I think the cream was too thick so I was barely getting any when I sipped my drink. The service was fast, I would try another drink if I'm in the area.
google avatar

Seby I.

Yelp
It seems an age since I had an Einspanner - the coffee concoction that I like a lot. As I sip this it makes me feel happy and content with life. The softly whipped cream is dreamy!
google avatar

Laura L.

Yelp
Came here in the morning around 30 minutes after opening on a weekend and the place was already pretty packed. We got a hot purple sweet potato latte and iced einspanner. The purple sweet potato latte was delicious and I could definitely taste the sweet potato flavor. I liked how the temperature was perfect so I could start drinking it right away without burning my mouth. I also enjoyed the purple sweet potato shavings on top. The iced einspanner was so creamy and I loved the sweetness of it. There is some indoor seating, though it was all taken when I was there. There's also some standing tables towards the back by the bathroom. Bathroom was very clean when I used it in the morning. Would definitely come back again!!
google avatar

Martha K.

Yelp
One of my go-to coffee shops in NYC because A) it tastes so good and B) it looks aesthetically pleasing. I am a known coffee lover and Ten Thousand Coffee has one of the most unique menus. I decided to get the matcha einspanner (which you have to personally ask for) and it was amazing. It had a soft, creamy, and sweet texture to it as well as the bold espresso taste. I loved it and you know that it's a good day when you get good coffee in the morning :) The other menu items look pretty interesting too and I was intrigued by their merchandise that was located at the front of the store. The baristas were extremely friendly and the store was well-maintained with a good number of seating. I loved how bright the venue was because it made the pictures turn out good and gave a clean vibe to it. I might even become a regular here!! Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5
google avatar

Chaewon L.

Yelp
I like the interior of this café very much. It's very clean and the baristas are friendly. The coffee here is slightly more expensive than other café I would say. Visually, they are pretty, but I don't I am a fan of their espresso drinks. There are a few seatings and a clean restroom. They also have solo standing mini table areas to have a quick rest. Because this location is right by Times Square, I frequently see a lot of tourists as well.
google avatar

Katherine G.

Yelp
The einspanner coffee is SO GOOD! I heard about this place from a friend, and I really wanted to try it since I love strong espresso drinks with a bit of creamy sweetness. This was exactly that, and it was absolutely perfect. The ambiance of this place is great - the seating is beautiful but not practical for sitting for a while to work. More of a coffee chat situation. I didn't stay long, but did enjoy it. I love how the espresso was strong enough where you can't taste the regular milk either, since I usually have to get oat due to my dislike of milk. The cream was sweet and delicious, and although pricey, I would say it is certainly worth it. Definitely give this a try!
google avatar

Derek S.

Yelp
Came by for coffee the other day and it was a decent experience. Ten Thousand Coffee is located in midtown on Broadway with plenty of open seating on the street. There is also plenty of seating indoors to hang out. The coffee shop seems to have a Korean vibe with coffee/tea items for sale at the counter featuring Korean. Some staff behind the counter wore a mask. The order taker was short, or quite New York, shall we say with short and direct questions. Latte itself was decent, although felt a touch watered down. Espresso was smooth. They did have some Gen Z baristas behind the counter
google avatar

Ashley J.

Yelp
I got an iced matcha latte with oat milk (they don't have soy), it was pretty decent I kind of expected a bit more. They use syrup instead of matcha powder, so it tasted like blank streets matcha. It was $7.02, pretty expensive for a medium. For the coffee, it was really strong and you really taste the espresso, the cold foam is really sweet it tasted like tiramisu. This cafe is definitely not meant for studying or relaxing, the tables and chairs are really small and there's not much space to move around or anything. It's also really loud, I basically had to scream for my friend to hear me.
google avatar

Michael C.

Yelp
We stopped by recently because I saw this on my feed, and it looked like a nicer chain! It certainly is quite Instagramable; nice interior, plenty of seating, and a decent amount of more exciting drinks. However, I wouldn't come here unless you want to get one of those exciting/sweet drinks. I got a standard cortado, and it was pretty disappointing. Way too bitter; felt like the beans were burnt. Steamed milk quantity wasn't proportionate either. We also got an onyx latte, and it had a rather strange fruity flavor to it, that almost tasted like milk gone sour (I'm sure it wasn't, but it almost tasted like it). There's also a training issue at this location. They don't have descriptions of their more unique drinks anywhere, so we tried asking our cashier, but they really had no idea what any of the drinks were. They also asked if I wanted my cortado with ice, which if you know coffee, is a pretty crazy question. I don't blame the cashier at all, but I'm not sure why management at this location would allow someone so new to man the cashier station by themselves with clearly very little training!
google avatar

Malina N.

Yelp
Creamy not too sweet matcha cream, and smooth, rich coffee flavors meet in the Matcha Einspänner! My favorite flavors and textures in a cup! You have to try it I only wish I could've sized up to have more coffee and enjoy this drink longer
google avatar

Bonnie T.

Yelp
The Einspanner, while costing an arm and a leg, is a deliciously decadent and enriching luxurious treat. It's sweet, but not too sweet. You can enjoy the coffee flavor, and it's sippable without being chuggable. It's a drink that you will savour slowly due to the fact that it's kind of like a dessert coffee. I would say it's rather strong so maybe ease into it if you're drinking it in the PMs, but I would say as a weekend coffee-this might be one of the best if you enjoy sweeter, dessert style coffees. Staff are super nice and the place is generally pretty quiet on weekday evenings. There's not too much space to hangout outside of a few tables inside and one or two outside, but with ktown outside you might as well make use of your space anyway. But this is a good place to find solace outside of the hustle and bustle if you're looking for a quick rest stop.
google avatar

Gab G.

Yelp
Have walked by this place a few times and finally stopped in. The famed iced einspanner was as advertised - super tasty, with really good whipped cream in particular. Will return to try the purple sweet potato latte at some point. They have some seating, but I imagine it gets crazy at peak times. They also have a bathroom!
google avatar

Katie A. O.

Yelp
Cute shop--though the coffee was just okay, with prices averaging $5 to $7 per cup depending on your order. I probably won't return, as NYC has so many coffee spots, and this one didn't leave a lasting impression.
google avatar

Janis C.

Yelp
Absolutely wonderful coffee I didn't even know what I wanted and he was so sweet helped me choose! 10/10 recommend! Coming back when in the city
google avatar

Grace H.

Yelp
I think this place is over-hyped Tried this when they first open in the city and overly posted by influencers. Ordered their most famous coffee, i did see a lot of sweetness was added and cute for the gram, but my body can't take too much sugar and i personally prefer a normal GOOD coffee. They were very sweet pairing the coffee with little honeycomb "cookies" they are also overly sweet. I am sorry they are just not my type of coffee, and do not recommend for people who doesn't like sweet coffee. But their coffee and croissant are surely Instagrammable! If you have out of town guests this is something news to try, FOR the Gram.
google avatar

Karen N.

Yelp
LOCATION: Broadway/39th WHAT WE ORDERED: * Iced Einspanner ($6.50) * Matcha Latte ($6.00) I was really craving an einspanner and when I brought up this place to my friend (a local), she said she goes to this place at least once a week. I knew I had to go. The iced einspanner was super tasty and not too sweet with the whipped cream. The matcha latte was also pretty good, although not my favorite matcha latte ever. The menu is simple and not very extensive. The store has a cool, calm, and minimal feel to it. There was a decent amount of seating inside if you want to sit and chill. If 10000 came to California, I could definitely see it being popular.
google avatar

Denise R.

Yelp
(IG: @foodwithdeni) Good Morning coffee lovers! Ordered an Einspanner latte from @tenthousand_us during my NYC trip and it's all I can think about! It had a creamy topping that went well with the coffee and I would definitely order again if I was closer Plenty of seating inside
google avatar

Jairo T.

Yelp
Super cool spot to grab a coffee. Has a modern yet comfy feel. Tried the Einspanner and regular latte. Both were great although the Einspanner was a particular standout which makes sense given its their "specialty". They have a nice spread of treats to go along with your coffee, but I didn't try any on this occasion. The service is quick and price is comparable to other coffee shops in the city. There is some seating inside but not a large amount. Cozy place to catch up with a friend but works as a grab and go spot as well.
google avatar

Amber Y.

Yelp
ordered: einspanner with almond milk (no syrup) @tenthousand_us is an Australian-inspired coffee shop in NYC! OH EM GEEE this drink is unreal! The coffee blend is smooth and warm. Their fluffy einspanner complimented the espresso very well and mimicked the taste of tiramisu. It is the perfect balance of bitterness and sweetness. This drink has been on my mind since I first had it, and I can't wait to return soon!
google avatar

Kayla W.

Yelp
I don't drink coffee and I came here just for their purple sweet potato latte and it was perfect. Did not disappoint me at all. The ambiance of this place is super minimal and it's so clean. I absolutely loved the vibes I went back the next day!
google avatar

Jackie I.

Yelp
Ordered the matcha einspanner and it was so good! Make sure to mix well! Flavor was nice and creamy with a slight matcha flavor mixed with coffee. It think it was better that the original einspanner. There's some indoor seating and two small tables outside. Quick service and there's a restroom in the back. Would come again if in the area and if I need a coffee pick-me-up!
