I love the new location! It may be smaller but still has tons of things I want to buy inside. And parking validation at the city hall garage is a nice perk. I'll be back!

This store is absolutely amazing! Bought here two beautiful earrings. They have unique jewelries, clothes, scarfs, decorations and much more from all over the world.

I was here yesterday cuz I enjoy to drop in from time to time. My heart sank when I saw the sign, that the store was closing. I appreciate being able to get sale priced items, but this store is an Austin gem and I’d hate to see it go. I purchased a very special menorah and the lady said they were gonna be at another location. Thank goodness for that because I’ve always enjoyed this place, ever since they were on South Congress.

Google
I love to bring my 4 & 7 yr old granddaughters here when I visit them. The money supports the makers in other countries in a fair and reliable trade, and the girls learn a little bit about the makers and their country of origin. The store is clean well organized and the workers here are friendly and personable. It's always a pleasure to visit 10,000 Villages in Austin, TX

Google
Ten Thousand Villages had great hand made artisan crafts and gift which made great gifts for my family during my Austin trip. The store is non profit and the proceeds help the struggling people who make these fine items. The staff was friendly and kind and I thank them for all their help in selecting souvenirs and gifts for may family back home. Great store will definitely be back.

Google
This is a beautiful shop with a large variety of fair trade items! I love to shop small businesses and this was just the cherry on top. Thank you for bringing these items and making them available to us! We purchased lip balms, soaps, jewelry, trinket dishes, chocolates, etc.

Yelp
Great place to get a feel good, unique beautiful gift! When I let her know it was a gift, she put all this together, including information on who made the gift! Loved everything about this shop!

Yelp
I love this store for buying gifts. They have all sorts of off-beat colorful artisan-made stuff. And it's a non-profit / co-op -- don't hold me to the details, but: decidedly non-corporate. Especially go there for your holiday shopping. Nativity scenes in every size and budget. The two women that helped were very pleasant and easygoing to deal with. And masked.

Yelp
Oh I love this store!!! Need a gift for someone hard to buy for? Sometimes who collects elephants or unicorn's? A unique piece for your home? This is the place. Fair trade gifts are there best. They are reasonably priced and you know it benefits the artisan and not a bunch of intermediaries. They have a fantastic selection. And ... Jennifer is a die hard Eagles fan like me. Best gift store in Austin!

Yelp
I like this place to find unique little gift for unique people who value hand made crafts over overpriced big brands. The only down side is that there isn't an incredible variety and most items are quite overpriced for what they are but again, it's a unique place for unique gifts.

Yelp
I'm a sucker for eclectic shops where you're never really sure what you're going to find, but you're almost always guaranteed its going to be interesting, so its clear, Ten Thousand Villages is one of my favorite haunts. From it's earlier days back on South Congress to it's present location on Burnet just north of 45th, Ten Thousand doesn't disappoint. Hand made crafts, articles, art and clothing taken from around the world in fair trade fashion, you can buy things here feeling good not just about their uniqueness and singularity but about the way the store and supply chain treats the creator or artisan. Staffed by friendly people happy to help in person or on the phone, you'll have a pleasant shopping experience here not found in many other stores. And the goods are eclectic and constantly changing. Biggest downside is limited parking due to a small lot shared with other businesses, but there is street parking right around the corner, and if parking is the biggest problem with a store, you've got to go see them. Do it now (wear your face mask!!) and add a cool new spot to your 2021 shopping circuit. Nice people doing nice things.

Yelp
Carries hand crafted gifts from all over the world. Really like the concept of the women who volunteer here, love that! Id your looking for unique, special gifts for friends, loved ones, or for yourself- stop in and be pleasantly surprised!

Yelp
The two lovely women that work there were so pleasant. They inform you about the products and how to find items by country of origin. They believe in creating a better world and I resonate with that mission. All the items for sale were high quality. Sustainable and ethically sourced. The bookstore in the back was amazing! The bookstore has books you wouldn't find at a typical bookstore. items. They have everything from wind chimes, chocolate, kids toys, and house decor. Highly recommend for unique souvenirs or just for yourself!

Yelp
Ten Thousand Villages is like if your favorite eccentric aunt opened up a gift shop after traveling the world & told you a little story about everything in the shop. The staff is made up of volunteers & they're all just so sweet & friendly. They love to talk about the merchandise & they're more than happy to print up the story behind the item when you pay, if you like. Then they wrap it up in tiny brown boxes & they smile at you & you think, "this person isn't even getting paid! Why are they so happy?" It's because they love doing this & they truly believe in the mission. The shop itself is a decent size, rather longer than it seems from the outside. They have jewelry & accessories, things for the home, cards, chocolates, small instruments, candles, soaps, hats, bags, toys and so much more that I can't even remember. During the holidays, they have ornaments & wrapping paper. In the back, they often have clothes & sometimes baby items. Quite a lot of the items are handmade & there will be tiny imperfections or minute differences, which I rather like because I think it makes a gift more unique. Some of the home decor items are made from recycled materials & I just love that. Shopping at Ten Thousand Villages makes me feel happy. Not just because I almost always buy something for myself, but because I feel like my money is actually doing some good in the world. They usually have some coffee made that you can sample, and some chocolate pieces that you can taste. There are mirrors everywhere for trying out that scarf/hat/necklace/crossbody bag that you maybe don't need but definitely gotta have. And again, the volunteers are so wonderful about helping you with anything you need. They're patient, I can attest to that, because I'm very indecisive. And they're just truly good human beings. If this is your first time, there is slim parking in the front. Plenty of parking in the back & a back door to the shop between the two restaurants. One last tip: nearly everything you see online can be found at the store on Burnet. Yes, this is the store that used to be on South Congress. But it's been here for many years now & I actually think this location is better. Much easier to get in & out of. Go there, touch things, have some coffee, have some chocolate, listen to the music, chat with the volunteers, and buy something that actually makes a difference in someone's life.

Yelp
Fantastic store, fantastic cause, fantastic people. A huge variety of things to choose from- art, gifts, jewelry, clothing, scarves, and much much more. With each purchase, you get a write up about the specifics of your purchase (where it is from, how it was made and such) The staff is very friendly, it's like having your friends there to help! (Thanks Nancy! You are great!)

Yelp
I could spend a day in here looking at the beautiful, handmade things in this store! Prices are reasonable and it is a Not For Profit store. I'm definitely coming back as I spotted some future gifts for some people that are hard to shop for (like my special lady). A lot of things made out of recycled materials also. Just fascinated me.

Yelp
Omg I love this store. Perfect for strolling around when you're waiting for your table at Picnic to be ready! Beautiful items from all over. Walked away with some beautiful pieces of jewelry. One with Peruvian turquoise and a piece of labradorite. Swoon. I'll be back for sure!

Yelp
So, read the previous review if you want to know the imperfections of TTV. I just got a full-sized djembe there with a cover for under $200 using the emailed 30% off coupon, and the place is a remarkable bargain-hunter's dream for musical instruments. When I'm this happy, five-star reviews will follow.

Yelp
I love this place. It feels great to buy stuff that's not made in a sweatshop. Great selection of clothing, housewares, art etc. AWESOME place for gifts.

Yelp
There's such a huge variety of wares available in here that I can't imagine not being able to find the perfect gift for someone you love. We actually got overwhelmed by the options and ended up purchasing multiples of the same thing to give to everyone instead. The best part about shopping here for gifts is that they'll print out an explanation of the artisan and the cultural/environmental history surrounding what you just got, which you can then pass along to the recipient to show them the impact of their gift. I'm excited to make Ten Thousand Villages a regular stop for gift shopping in the future.

Yelp
This place is amazing, in every way. For what they stand for, for who they are, what they represent, and the items they carry. You can find stuff from all over the world here!!! That is my favorite part because that is so awesome to me I just can't get over going to Texas and coming back with a souvenir from Africa!!! The culture and atmosphere they cultivate is contagious and I find myself wanting to do more for others and be a better person after leaving this store. In eclectic Austin you can get a taste for the eclectic diversity not only in North America, but all over the entire world. I love to support non profits and really respect that about this company. You don't wake up and decide to do something like this unless you are a world changer and a very compassionate one. The agenda of this store is so totally not for their own gain but awareness and to be a blessing by providing items we may never have had access to previously. Thank you for doing what you do and to all the talented people who are providing items for this store!

Yelp
I love Ten Thousand Villages! It's my go-to spot for gifts and accessories, as I know all the products in the store are ethically made. Some of my favorite products are the Singing Bowls for meditation/yoga, the recycled sari home accents, the sarongs in summer time, and the chocolate! The jewelry range is very extensive also, for all ages. All of the sales assistants are volunteers, so they're very friendly and obviously passionate about the store. And since they're a nonprofit store, I know my purchase is going to a good cause.

Yelp
This is a really cool store. Everything in the store is fair trade. If you are looking for gifts this holiday season, I highly recommend finding them at this store. They have crafts from all around the world. You know that you are getting something very unique and original when at this store. I would even recommend giving yourself a gift from here. It's going to be hard to walk in without walking out with something for yourself with so many amazing options to choose from.

Yelp
Shopped here today for my nieces and found lovely jewelry and scarves. Also bought soaps, chocolate and ornaments. Great selection and extremely helpful and friendly staff. This is a non-profit and I like knowing the artisans have been paid a fair wage for their products. I really like getting a printout of the stories of the product and the people who made them. Not only can you get help finding a particular product, but the volunteers will help you find items from a particular country or part of the world. This can be especially nice if you are buying for a traveler for an upcoming trip or just someone who wants to learn about different places. It is definitely a fun shopping experience.

Yelp
When TTV moved I was happy to know that there would be plenty of off street parking even if I had to drive a bit further to get to the store. After tramping around at home decor stores and resale shops, futilely looking for some unique touches to go with some recent renovations I remembered the new location and dropped by. I wandered around and then used their computer to look for items that might not be in the store and found exactly what I was looking for. Happily for me, they did have one in the store, too. The staff and the volunteers gave their best efforts to help me find what I was seeking, and in the process gave me some more good ideas. I like knowing that my purchases make a real difference in the lives of their artisans from around the world, and make my home more lovely and connected to theirs, as well. I have visited the store often without making purchases and everyone is friendly always. I'll be back!.
