NYC’s New Restaurant Openings

"From the people behind Black Tap Burger, Tender Crush is a restaurant where you can crush some chicken tenders. The Soho spot is the Las Vegas brand’s second location, though their sauces sound like they asked a chatbot to come up with New York-based themes. Think Harlem Hot, Jackson Heights Heat, and sides like Williamsburg Waffle Fries, and Tribeca Truffle Mac." - will hartman

Tips From A Bellman

Google
I had 2 $10 food vouchers , so I decided to give them a try. Like many people I'm a chicken tender fan. I got the Jackson Heights Hot Chicken Tenders , Waffle Fries , and a Mello Yellow Soda. The chicken fingers were decent size , but I read another review that the owners had told them to cut the size and they used to be larger. You get 3 chicken tenders which I would think for $13 you should get 4. The Seasoned Waffle Fries were $6 , and the Soda was $6 for a fountain drink , really. JACKSON HEIGHTS HEAT CHICKEN TENERS - BIRD PEPPER, CHIVES, KOSHER PICKLES WITH ZESTY WHITE BBQ They were pretty good with lots of sauce and it did have a nice kick if you're like me and like it hot , but not too hot. They weren't very crispy which is more like I like them also , I like to taste the chicken not just hard breading. The pickles tasted fresh and are kosher slices. SEASONED WILLIAMSBURG WAFFLE FRIES $6 I was disappointed in these. I love the waffle fries at Carl's Jr because they taste like fries and are crispy and potatoey. These were hard and had no flavor except for the seasoning they added to them. They tasted like cheap bad frozen ones from the grocery store. FOUNTAIN SODA They have a Coca Cola Freestyle Soda Machine in the Food Court that you can pick so many combinations of soda to make to your taste or try out. 165 different combinations according to Wikipedia. It's just crazy to charge $6 for it though. All in all I would like to try some of the other chicken tenders with food vouchers of course since it is rather pricey. I would like to try the soft serve custard also. I saw a picture of a cup with blueberries on it that looked good. I would just get the tenders to take home and get fries somewhere else or maybe have with a pizza. I would go here again before going to Tony Luke's , that was bad.

Google
Portion sizes are a joke. Ordered the 3 tenders plate and they ended up being barely bigger than McDonald's nuggets. Expected way more for $14!!

Google
Chicken was great, you get various sauce options, went with traditional buffalo which comes with a side of whipped blue cheese dip. The grilled chicken was great as well and kale side salad. I recommend this spot if you are visiting The Rio Resort.

Google
Best chicken tenders we ever had. And the sauces, WHEW! Talk about going from perfect to perfectER LOL! The young man at the counter (Asian guy with braids, sorry I didn’t get your name) had great customer service and was patient while we figured out what we wanted. We got a sandwich and tenders, amazing. Real chicken always wins. Overall 10 out of 10. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Google
This place is delicious! I'd recommend getting the K-Town and the Queen Thai. Those two were amazing. Seasoned fries were perfect. The food was out quick. Seating can be a little sparse but it's a food court. The K-Town is a good medium spice and the Thai was not spicy at all, very mild.

Google
My tenders were served in a puddle of oil. The bottom of the basket had 2-3 tablespoons of oil sitting in it. I had to let the tenders sit on napkins before I could eat them. I was pretty disgusted and though I could've returned my food, I decided that I'd only come back (maybe) for the waffle fries and dill sauce. It was $12 for 3 oily tenders. Good breading, good seasoning but poor level of care.

Google
Another great spot in the food court. They seemed a little understaffed though when I went through, but people might have just been on break. So I'm deducting a full star. I did try 4 different flavors and some fries. All were pretty good with the Thai Queens being my favorite.

Google
Fun, unique, casual spot with various delicious options for its namesake product - chicken tenders! I thought the price was very reasonable for the amount and quality of tenders you get, which are very filling as a meal by themselves and many of them starting under $10. There were various sauce and heat options, although I just stuck with the grilled tenders that came with some zesty lemon type seasoning and spices. I didn't get too much more because I was visiting the new Canteen Food Hall in the Rio Hotel, where it's located, as part of a video where I was trying something from several of the spots there. I ended up being pleasantly surprised by just how much I loved Tender Crush and several of the other spots! The tenders were perfectly cooked and tasted very tender. Additionally, the grilled ones that I got were perfectly accompanied by the zestiness of the lemon and a tad bit of heat from the spices. If you're a chicken tender lover or you're looking for a quick bite at a reasonable price, this is definitely a great spot to stop by and try out!

Yelp
What a fun spot to stop and grab some tenders! Yum! This place is conveniently located in the Rio.

Yelp
Located inside of the Rio hotel, the food court area. You can order via the kiosk. It's quite awkward when people are waiting behind you when you need to put your name on the big old screen tho. The chicken burger I had was a bit spicy but I like it personally. The crunchiness of it was no joke. The kale dish here is really nice, a very healthy option instead of going with the usual fries. The vinaigrette seasoning was on point. My friends and I liked it a lot. The server was very friendly and sweet, kept telling me my order is coming up. I spent $20 in total for the kale and the burger. More like a fast food atmosphere here.

Yelp
Food here is made fresh and really tasty. It took longer than expected to come out but it surely didnt disappoint. Chicken is crispy and the sauces I tried were very tasty. Also had the salad and waffle fries which werent bad. They completely messed up my order but I didn't notice until I was back in my room so I just ate it anyway. It also took 15-20 minutes to get my food. Id normally give 3 stars for something like this but it really is tasty so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt

Yelp
Great value priced eatery when staying at the Rio. If you're staying at the Rio, you can charge it to your room. Located in the Canteen, there are a decent amount of tables. Ordering is done via posted QR code. So there's very little interaction with servers except for picking up your order. Text confirmation of your order and order number is convenient. You get a text when your order is ready. So instead of having to stand around to wait for your order, you can take a seat or go play a couple of rounds of slots or tables. It's a bit of a wait. My assumption is that everything is made to order. There is only one gluten free option, the 3 grilled tenders for $10. They were decent sized, moist, and tender but not as lemon and other spices flavored as expected. But I would eat here and order the grilled tenders again.

Yelp
This little spot is located at the food court at the Rio. We only ended up getting a soft serve ice cream here and it tasted pretty good. Service was a bit slow especially at night and we had to order through the Kiosk. (There was no one taking orders.) When we got our soft serve they forget to add the sauce that we paid for so we had to let them know. Overall food was good, service needs a bit of work.

Yelp
Solid Nashville hot chicken sando. Located inside of the Rio Hotel & Casino food hall, they offer tenders, sandwiches & tasty waffle fries! Service was fast & friendly, and plenty of seating nearby. The chicken was hot, fresh, moist & delicious! I recommend Tender Crush for a quick break in your gaming!

Yelp
Visited the newly renovated Rio Hotel & Casino Canteen Food Hall and came across Tender Crush. Great food menu options with different items and different spice levels. Great customer service by Tytyianna. She went over the menu and their spice levels as well as what most food items Tender Crush is known for. We ordered Crispy Chicken Sandwich Old School NY Crush with lettuce, tomato, kosher pickles, mayo and vinegar. The House Hits Jackson Heights Heat with bird pepper, chives, kosher pickles and zesty white barbecue sauce along with some Williamsburg Waffle Fries (seasoned) and yummy dessert called Boardwalk Donuts with blueberry, lemon and warm custard. So good! The dessert was not too sweet as the blueberry balanced out the zesty lemon taste with the warm custard. The chicken sandwiches were also good. Crispy and fresh chicken breast. The flavoring was just right. Jackson Heights Heat's level of spice was perfect as the kosher pickles balanced out the spice. Williamsburg Waffle Fries were seasoned and crisp to perfection. Tender Crush is definitely a spot we will visit again when in Las Vegas as we would like to try other food items on their menu.

Yelp
Got the grilled chicken and kale thingy. It was not bad. Chicken was juicy and had a good quantity, and the kale was very flavorful. So full after finishing! Took a while to come out, but understandable.

Yelp
Brand new food court area located on the west end of the Rio. Plenty of food options but Korean fried chicken was calling our names. The staff was friendly and answered all our questions and suggested heat options for the sauce on our chicken. Nice seating area with plenty of options and the beverage machine has literally over a hundred of options. We ordered the House hits, with 32nd st bbq sauce. Korean BBQ chicken, toasted sesame, scallion, cilantro, fresh lime atop and buttermilk dill. Look at this chicken! Delicious to the last bite! 5/5 the flavor, the juiciness and portion size was all on point. Cannot wait to come back with family and have more Tender Crush!

Yelp
Vanilla Frozen Custard $5 - best deal in the Rio. Until they run out. We came here Sunday night and bought two. They only had enough for one serving. It seemed like a hassle to have them find a manager to issue a refund so we took a Perrier instead. One serving was plenty for two people - a giant cup. Perfect treat on a hot day (and night).

Yelp
We were at Rio looking for lunch and decided to stop by the Canteen Food Hall. It was easy to find seats in the food hall. And there are booths as well as tables. Very clean and there was someone tidying up the place constantly. It was Labor day weekend but thankfully not too busy yet for a Saturday afternoon. It was hard to decide, but I chose to try Tender Crush and I'm glad I did! It was our first time here and Tytianna was super nice and friendly. She really took the time to explain the items. I got the Jackson Heights Heat. Its 3 crispy tenders in bird pepper, chives, kosher pickles, and zesty white bbq. Its a spicy dish with a good kick! The chicken was tender and crispy outside. The layer was not too thick and had really good breading/crust. Great for those looking for spicy. I had it with Waffle fries. Not bad. A little bit of crunch and just a tad dry. It was better with sauce so I used the sauce from the Jackson Heights Heats. Lastly I had to try the Boardwalk Donuts. Crispy on the outside like fried chicken. It comes with a blueberry sauce with actual blueberries! Not too sweet and really good. It also came with a lemon and warm custard sauce. Really good too. I've never had Boardwalk Donuts and I almost didn't get it. But Tytyianna said a lot of people seem to like it and Im glad I tried them! I was really happy with the meal and customer service. Thank you!

Yelp
So glad I ran upon this little chicken shack! Let me tell yah, it definitely is a hole in the wall. It definitely is underrated! The chicken is beautifully seasoned and the sauce they have is immaculate! Absolutely delicious! So glad they had this restaurant at the Rio hotel I was staying at! I wish they stayed open 24 hours! I would've went constantly. It is open 11am-10pm. Definitely try this place if you're staying at the Rio hotel or just visiting for the casino!

Yelp
The crispy hot sandwich was to die for and I'm pretty sure I will continue to dream about in my sleep, what a hidden little gem nestled at the Rio. The service was great for a restaurant that just opened up!
google avatar

Jeff P.

Yelp
The tenders are crispy, and the sauce is good, but way over priced for you get, $17.93 for three tenders, a soda, and yes, they charge you for the sauce. The tenders, I have to believe are frozen, because the meat is chewy.. Better options out there, but if your stuck at the Rio, you gotta go with what is there
google avatar

Yelp
I ordered from their House Hits section and got the Jackson Heights Heat and 32nd Street BBQ ($12 each) and seasoned Williamsburg Waffle Fries ($5). They don't have ranch but their equivalent is the Buttermilk Dill Dip ($2) so I ordered that. Everything was delicious. The fries were crispy. There is some chairs for you to sit and eat and they also have additional sauces at the location if you want more added on top. The worker was nice and quick with the order.
google avatar

Rachel R.

Yelp
Strips do not have a lot of breading which I love. I love the endless sauces! I really enjoyed them. Fries were just ok but they were dirt cheap for resort prices. Reasonable price for being in a resort. Part of the foot court. Cashier was friendly.

Yelp
Love trying new places, and this place did not disappoint. So excited for the Rio revival. This will definitely become a go-to Staple.

Yelp
Really delicious, tender, and juicy. Fast friendly service I like these way better than Cane's.

Yelp
Tender Crush is located in the new food court inside The Rio hotel and casino. Just like the rest of the quick eateries in this food court, it is shiny and new. This establishment, much like its counter parts in the food court, had little to no traffic when we arrived at 530pm. We had grabbed our dinners from other places within the food court and stopped at Tender Crush to inquire about Boardwalk Donuts. There was no description of what these donuts were like. We were thinking they were the small little donuts you can get at the boardwalk like in San Francisco, Atlantic city, etc. When asking the person working the register, he seemed to be very dismissive. "What kind of donuts are Boardwalk donuts?" we asked. "A donut." No further description. It took about 4 or 5 more questions to get an answer and we still didn't really get an actual answer. We ended up ordering the donut to try it. When asked how long it would take, we were told 10 minutes, then 5. Neither were correct. It took nearly 30 minutes for us to get the donuts. Mind you nothing else was coming up through the window. There were people waiting in the seating area that had been waiting for their food for some time too. The donut is NOT something I would recommend. It is VERY dense. No flavor to it. VERY little sugar on the top. It was more of a biscuit than a donut. One was more over done than the other. Makes me think there is not a timer to drop and pickup from a fryer to make these. Bad first impression for this establishment for us. Poor customer service. Poor quality of food being put out. Hard pass on these donuts. Possible hard pass on Tender Crush as a whole. Staff should be more welcoming and wiling to answer questions to new customers that are not familiar with the product of Tender Crush. It will help to attract customers and keep customers coming back and sharing word of mouth with others.

Yelp
Tender chicken, to be sure. 5 different flavors of sauces for your level of heat. Nice Krispy coating, which keeps the chicken juicy. They even offer adult beverages. The orange vodka drink is surprisingly good!

Yelp
We went with three of us and shared everything ! I don't like spicy food but found so much flavor as well that I could enjoy! The custard was so good too ! Highly recommend - I love how different this chicken place is and that everyone could get something different!
google avatar

N R.

Yelp
Waffle Fries were WAY undercooked, still raw potato on the inside, not crispy at all. Chicken flavor was good...(spicy was not spicy though) but the chicken crispiness which was overhyped on the menu was unimpressive . Maybe their fryer timers are off ‍Buttermilk dill dip tasted bottled.

Carlos G.

Yelp
Checked out Tender Crush at the newly renovated Rio. And what my experience was amazing to say the least. Great quality of food, tenders were cooked to perfection. I tried the Harlem Hot Buffalo style tenders with a side of whipped blue cheese which is to die for. I also tried the grilled chicken tenders which which were grilled to perfection. I had an order of the waffles fries which I also had to try their homemade sauces to dip them in. I had white bbq sauce and buttermilk dill which were out of this world. No other chicken tenders like Tender Crush.
google avatar

Shawn B.

Yelp
Tried this while staying at the Rio hotel was assisted by Inez who was very helpful with the suggestions . They were out of toppings for the custard dessert unfortunately . Would try again would recommend with buffalo sauce and ranch

Yelp
What is this??? This is not the biz.. don't waist your time with this place it's not worth the time

Yelp
I ordered the crispy chicken tenders and the custard dessert doughnut thing it was awful. Somehow I wound up with the grilled chicken, which was three pieces of one breast, literally had one breast and cut it in three pieces, grilled it and served it in a box was disgusting. Very dry!!! fried tenders, which is what originally ordered looked beautiful, but it had no flavour so maybe sauce is needed. It doesn't have like a crispy skin. It has more of a light crispy coating. The custard. Doughnut was hard and tasted really bad and white frosting dip was very liquidy and it wasn't very sweet tasted bad overall I will never eat here again. Service was as expected. TY

Natalie B.

Yelp
This was our first time trying Tender Crush and it exceeded expectation! There were lots of great flavors to choose from so we had to try more than one. The Thai Queens was a huge hit in our group but everything was beyond delicious. We will definitely be back for more!

Savanna M.

Yelp
Some of the best chicken tenders I have ever had! The whipped blue cheese sauce that comes with the Harlem tenders is amazing. The Thai Queens tenders were my favorite! The waffle fries were perfect. I can't wait to come back!
google avatar

Isaac F.

Yelp
Always fresh, always consistent of a meal. Definitely recommend this restaurant and would go twice in a day.
google avatar

Michael T.

Yelp
Excellent guest service, the female cook was on point and even cooked up a grilled tender for my dog which she demolished and also ate 1+ of mine. They are more than decent for the price as you get 3 for $10.99 but you definitely need to get a sauce. Good for a quick meal.
google avatar

Anthony N.

Yelp
got their original chicken tender and waffle fries for my daughter. I'm surprised it was crush as they mentioned their store name. Will recommend anyone to this spot. I was just exploring and pretty much tried the entire canteen. hands down on their price will be back.

Sandra V.

Yelp
Went out for a date night with my boyfriend. The service was beyond amazing!!! The food was super amazing!! And Inez is the Best ever!! We just moved to Vegas from California and we will definitely be back!! Thank you, Sandra and David

Sean J.

Yelp
I went back and they finally had custard. It was great. And I appreciate Tender Crush responding.

A G.

Yelp
Tender Crush was a pleasant surprise at Rio Las Vegas. Had the Grilled Tenders and Buffalo Garlic (forgetting the name) Tenders and both were amazing. The dipping sauces were even better! And the dessert was also a very pleasant surprise. The doughnuts were delicious once again accompanied by two delicious dipping sauces! You have to try this place!

Angela A.

Yelp
Ordered the mango coco drink. They gave me the tequila lime drink. Came back to order the correct drink. Ohh they've been out of the mango coco for vi WEEKS! The prices person must have miss heard me? Ok. The chicken sandwich was ok. The fries were ok.

Esther K.

Yelp
Amazing! Chicken is so tender and juicy. I had 32nd street bbq ($12 for 3) and it's a must try! It was a great late night snack (with beer) choice.

william b.

Yelp
Second time I've been to order custard and both times they said the machine was down and they can't serve any. They close at 10pm and I went around 7:30 so it's not like they were about to close. I'm not sure what's going on but I will not be going back since they can't seem to have their machines working.
google avatar

K C.

Yelp
Interesting array of flavors. Portions bigger than expected. Service was above the norm in this day and age. Ambiance? It's a food court in a casino, but it's better than most. The 'Canteen' is ok

Sandra M.

Yelp
This spot is better than Canes in my own personal opinion. They have another level of tenders and flavors as well my husband had the Thai style I had the original comes with waffle fries everything is fresh made to order so the food comes out piping hot. The service was efficient and the staff were super friendly . It's inside the Rio Hotel and Casino at the canteen food hall which has a few spot to eat from. The vibe there is mellow and cool easy going relaxed you can sit anywhere and just chill and eat while people watching lol.

Jonathan Lee R.

Yelp
Chicken tenders were crushin it. Best in Las Vegas. Great price. Highly recommended. I want to acknowledge Sean & his great service. We really appreciate it after a long day of travel. JLR INVESTIGATES

David B.

Yelp
Food is mid in the taste department but is expensive as hell. 3 tenders for $12 dollars, fries are $5 plus sauces cost $2 each. Slow service tops it all off. The location is fine loud af but what do you expect in Vegas. It's in a food court inside a casino Rio which is being refurbished. Maybe someday this will be worth it, but it's not even close right now.

Jenica B.

Yelp
New restaurant inside Rio food court! I got the Buffalo tenders with blue cheese crumbles. 10/10 would recommend.
