Tender Greens

This is my favorite restaurant! They are consistently good at a range of meals. I have a few favorites but genuinely would recommend anything! The staff is also so kind. Whenever I go in they help make sure I get exactly what I want and go out of their way. Special shout out to Alejandro who tonight checked the back for the last of my favorite desert, the lava cake. Thank you tender greens!

We love tender greens whenever we go to San Diego. This one isn’t as good as the others, as far as taste and quality. However, we still enjoy it! Love their salads!

The food selection here is tasty, fresh and healthy. I came here for lunch with my mom. We had the winter menu: Spare Rib over mashed potatoes and broccolini. It was quite delicious and perfectly complemented the brisk weather.

This place is always so good! I've been coming to this location for about eight years, and it is perfect. We've come for lunch and dinner, and it is always the same regarding good service and food. It's a great place to eat because I'm vegetarian, and my husband and most friends are not, and there is always something on the menu for everyone. The food is fresh and always tastes good, and the service is always fabulous.

Love this place. Alejandro was an excellent server the last time I was in. I have been in three times thus far and have not had a bad experience. I would recommend the carrot cupcake after the meal

I had a short rib and it was delicious! I couldn't believe you can get such tasty food for this price.

I ordered a steak salad. Medium rare. Had some sweet peppers in the salad and some pickled cucumbers. I was enjoying the meal until I uncovered this fried fly just chilling at the bottom of my bowl. My wife went up to the front with my steak salad and told the manager and in her words "the manager didn't even seem surprised" he asked if we wanted a new salad or a refund. My appetite was ruined and my wife had already asked for a replacement salad so it was too late to get a refund. I kind of expected the manager to come up to me personally and be a little more sincere about the fly salad and apologize and try to make things right but the server came up to me instead. Props to the server. I don't think I'll be returning. Maybe Gordon Ramsay will, on his next season of kitchen nightmares.

Had a great experience at Tender Greens at the Mission Valley location. Alejandro was super polite and graceful. The food was amazing. I would highly recommend.

First time here, for a casual dinner meeting with friends. Quiet area with lots of space. Friendly and quick service. You pay at the counter first, so there's no rush to flag someone down to get a check. I got the chipotle bbq chicken plate with seasonal veggies and mac n cheese. Everything was lightly seasoned; simple and delicious. The vegetables were tender, as promised. Portion size was pretty generous. I would come back again to try other dishes!

Hard to find a better tasting tuna than Tender Greens, it is always seared to perfection. We love coming here there is so many great and healthy but tasty options to choose from. They have old favorites, as well as some newer menu items. Some of her old favorites include the salt and pepper chicken or skirt steak either as a meal or as a salad. Our son really loves the Katsu chicken bowl, which is a newer menu, item. We enjoyed their blue salmon bowl with lentil beans which is a newer item . Our friend really enjoyed the short rib, special . We also love their tomato soup. Services prompt. This is a nice place to go. If you're going to a movie in the mall ambience is clean and modern.

My coworkers & I came by for lunch today. When the work email was sent that we were meeting at Tender Greens for lunch, I was excited bc I love eating here! The staff were nice & welcoming especially Christian. He cleaned some tables for us & also turned on one of the heater stands. Aside from that, he was coming by our table to clean up & see if we needed anything else. He also answered a few questions we had about the salsas. He was very kind & attentive to us. We sat outside which was nice and comfortable. The food as always is very tasty & they had good portions only thing I did notice is that this time they only gave me have a bread instead of the usual whole piece. Besides that I will never say no to Tender greens!

Came in and was greeted warmly. The food is always busssin. Definitely recommend the grilled steak plate.

Placed a large pick up order for a team online. Christian helped me take everything to my car and JC was a joy and greeted/complimented me while I was waiting. Food was great, per usual. I love tender greens and they reaffirmed my love with this visit!

I got the pacific bowl with Katsu chicken! It was pretty good, nice seaweed seasoning on the rice and the chicken was wonderful! Ordered to-go so cannot speak so much to the service but my meal was prepared and ready to go when I arrived. Friendly staff! Nice place to grab a quick healthier bite to eat! Only reason I have it a 4/5 was it was not the best meal I've ever had and I'd probably prefer something home cooked but when I'm looking for a healthier meal with some protein and don't have time to cook I'll definitely be back!

The supervisor Emily was amazing!! ( sorry if I got the wrong name). The service was amazing and everyone was helpful and really nice!

I'm working in San Diego this week-first time- and so I checked out Yelp before Uber Eats. I found a Tender Greens on UberEats less than a mile from my hotel! I had the MOST amazing vegetarian bowl! Lentils, purple potatoes, mushrooms!! I ordered a side of roasted veggies too. Glorious supper!! Thank you Mission Valley Tender Green!! I will definitely order from here again!!

The food was fairly good - I had the Pacific Bowl with katsu chicken. The salad and cucumbers were really good. The chicken was a bit hard but with the sauce it was good. The food did take a while to finish being prepped and served. They have a lot of options on their menu which I liked and overall it was pretty good - would recommend!

Went to the Mission Valley mall to return some items at Target. While I waited in line for my return I remembered there was a Tender Greens, so I placed my order on the app. Super easy to order and best part when I was done at Target I just strolled on over to the other side of the mall to pick up my order. It's super easy to pick up and the staff is so nice. I ordered the fried chicken plate. You get your choice of 2 sides, I opted for mashed potatoes and sweet greens w/some sort of lemon dressing. Their fried chicken is so juicy and crispy and very well seasoned. The mashed potatoes are good, but I feel they lack something maybe some black pepper, the dressing to my salad was delish, and I love the give you the dressing on the side, last thing I want is a soggy salad. Oh and I can't forget about the grilled bread with olive oil, which is so yummy. Such a filling meal.

Great fresh ingredients and tasty food! Had the Tuna Niçoise salad and the tuna was incredibly tender and flavorful......the service is also great as they aim to please.....

What a light & delicious meal! I was craving a salad considering I've been pigging out all weekend! So we stumbled upon this little gem. The restaurant was well kept and the service was great! The only reason for the deduction is because of the small portion of salad for the price! Otherwise, all else was well!

The staff was polite attentive and friendly. The food was fresh and tasty. Overall enjoyed my meal at this tender green location

AMBIANCE Chef led kitchen, Tender Greens, is serving up some damn good food in a spacious and comfy dining area with plenty of natural light filtering in through the glass storefront. FOOD 5/5 THAI GRILLED STEAK bowl Talk about an elevated spin on comfort food! The steak was grilled perfectly tender and pre-sliced. The coconut sushi rice was crispy and fluffy. The salad was super fresh with green papaya, cabbage, tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers, Thai basil, and cilantro, has some heat from Fresno peppers, and has acidity from the Thai lime vinaigrette. DRINK 4/5 THE GREENS (house made) This was a good greens drink with hints of veggies and juice. I personally would like it to have a stronger concentration/taste. SERVICE Order at the front and take a number to your seat where the food will be delivered. P.S. I'd come back for that Thai grilled steak bowl... Drool...

Food was good (it's a fast food place. Quality is decent and plenty of options!) staff is nice and food came out quick as well! Seating area is clean and have enough space between tables. I like this place! Recommend and will come back in around area and feel like having some healthy food

Came by for a late lunch on a Sunday afternoon. There are plenty of parking but beware! Drivers are crazy nowadays. You enter this establishment and order in the front. I ended up getting the mediterranean steak salad. The woman at the counter asked how I'd like my steak and I told her medium. My son ordered the little plate with salt & pepper chicken, fruit, mashed potatoes and a small bottled water. We got our number after paying and seated ourselves. Food came within 10 minutes. My salad came with feta, tomato, pickled cucumber, green olives, sweet baby peppers, herbs, baby greens, arugula and lemon vinaigrette. I also had a good amount of steak. I noticed how fresh and tasty the salad was. The ingredients meshed well together! My only complaint was that the steak was rather tough. I should have just ordered it medium rare. I tried giving my son a few bites of my steak and he said it was too chewy. When my son's food came out, he barely touched it. When we were trying to place the order, I had asked him what he wanted based on the menu and he told me he wanted salt & pepper chicken. When the plate came out, he asked me where his wings were. He thought his chicken would be the salt & pepper chicken wings that they serve at the Chinese restaurant and was disappointed to see the slices of chicken. I did tell him he had to eat it and when he took a bite, he was disappointed because the chicken was dry. I tried his chicken and can concur that his chicken was dry. Also, his plate came with mashed potatoes and rice rather than fruit. The mashed potatoes were a bit salty and he didn't like the rice either. Since it was our first time there, we didn't know what to expect. The food was just OK for us. Maybe it was just an off day? Or maybe I just need to order my steak medium rare next time.

Love and hate this place. Love the food and hate the customer service sometimes. I frequent Tender Greens a lot. I feel as though the Mission Valley location has really dropped their standards. THIS PLACE NEEDS HELP. The La Jolla and Del Mar location absolutely knock your socks off service every time. Full package, food, service, and cleanliness. Today at the Mission Valley location I ordered the pasta and side fried chicken. My lady ordered the Steak and Arugula Salad w/ potatoes. The chicken came late. They gave me a cookie for the inconvenience. Positive. The chicken had someone's hair in it. NEGATIVE. (The hair was fried into the chicken.) When I brought this to their attention they looked at me blankly Non apologetically. "What do you want to do." I asked for a refund. With a nonchalant no care in the world, Ihate my job expression. She refunds the chicken. No sorry, no have a good day, no nada. Thanks Katherine. Also reason for refund was marked as . "DIDN'T LIKE" How about "EMPLOYEE HAIR FRIED INTO CHICKEN" Things like this will never be fixed if their always covered up. Thanks for Lying KATHERINE. You are the best part of Tender Greens Mission Valley.

The food is pretty fresh but feels expensive compared to similar options. I've never been disappointed by anything I've tried (we've been a couple of times), but nothing stood out to me either as a meal that I want to keep coming back to. Since it's at the Mission Valley Mall, there is adequate free parking which is nice.

We always come here whenever we need a fast meal and don't want to cook. Service was great but tonight they were out of mashed potatoes :(

Great place to stop for a bit while shopping in the area, or to get to go. If you're looking for something healthy you might cook yourself at home - with a bit more flavor and talent haha - than this is a great pick! Tender Greens reminds me of other places like Urban Plates but I liked the simplicity of the menu here. FOOD: I love seared Ahi and this one was delicious! Especially the flaky salt on the edges. The Cesar salad was very well dressed, I think it's ready for the red car part! :p The fingerling potatoes rounded it out to a solid meal. I've also had the steak salad and found the steak very well seasoned as well! Also, I really enjoyed the toasted bread, which is rare for me personally. DRINK: The mint lemonade was good but nothing special. Cons: water machine was out of water, several spots I wanted to sit hadn't been cleaned up. $14-19 per person.

Great, healthy, fast spot for lunch! Went here today with one of my co-workers. I've catered from here in the past for my job, but this is the first time I dined in. Overall, very clean, modern looking, casual dining restaurant. My friend ordered the salmon bowl, and I had a plate with steak mashed potatoes and spinach. We both very much enjoyed our food, plates cleaned! Only thing I'd change is to have to ordered the dressing on the side, definitely felt like there's too much dressing. The steak was already prepared to medium rare, which is exactly how I like it. Not the fanciest steak ever, but for a quick, casual dining experience, I'm at expectations. Tender Greens is located on the outskirts of Westfield mall, plenty of parking, short distance walk away. Definitely would revisit for lunch!

Alright I have to say I am a tender greens fan and as someone who spent 6 hours here between enjoying a yummy lunch and working I'm already craving it again. And now that I am finally finishing this review I have been back twice and even brought it for my family for dinner recently as well. I love the variety of options at Tender Greens and this location is always super quick when ordering. My go to thing to order is the steak plate with the arugula salad that has a lemon dressing and mashed potatoes. Their mashed potatoes are so light and creamy they are my favorite side from this spot. This location has plenty of seating inside and is always pretty clean so it has been a great lunch or dinner or working while lunching spot for me. One thing you can not forget is there chocolate chip cookies! They are so good, I can not leave this spot without ordering one, or two sometimes. They are chocolaty and crunchy on the outside but smooth and creamy on the inside, just the perfect little treat after your meal. I am interested in trying some of the other items on the menu as everything sounds good and I have been so stuck on my go to it is time to change it up!

I tried this place a couple days ago. Overall, very spacious and quiet. Great customer service , offered me a second refill while I waited for my order. Order took ten minutes. Great quality salads!

Very clean great customer service , I came here on my lunch break ordered the steak Mediterranean salad I absolutely loved it minus the olives I forgot to remove them but oh well overall everything tasted fresh and surprisingly a little bit home made which made me happier ! I totally recommend this place if you're ever at the mission valley mall ! Great job to the employees for making delicious food and keeping it clean and makimg my experience a good one !

Why is Tender Greens rated so low? It's absolutely delicious! In my experience, chains are oftentimes rated lower, though this number doesn't necessarily always reflect the quality of the food nor service. This Tender Greens, at least, was a great dining experience. You essentially order at the counter, wait for your order to be prepared, then pick up your food. They have seating inside and outside, too! The interior is pretty nice and open. That being said, the outside is also nice, as this Tender Greens establishment is situated in an outdoor mall. This makes the location super convenient--you can do some shopping and then stop by for lunch! (That's what we did!) I ordered a plate, and I would highly recommend this option, as it lets you pick and choose what you would like. I got the Selva Shrimp, Romaine Hearts (Caesar salad), and seasonal vegetables. It comes with a piece of bread! To be honest, I didn't like the bread--it was kind of tough. That being said, the protein was seasoned very nicely, and the vegetables were super fresh. Pro tip: ask for light dressing OR dressing on the side. I really recommend the seasonal vegetables, as the carrots were roasted beautifully (and this is coming from someone who doesn't like carrots). The tomato soup is also good and creamy! After eating, Tender Greens doesn't leave you feeling heavy or sluggish. It's a meal that fills you up for hours and without any guilt. Everything here is delicious, and it's an extra added benefit that's it's healthy and good for you! I always forget how much I like Tender Greens, but every time I go, I'm reminded that I need to come more often.

Other than forgetting to order at the front, I love Tender Greens! I get one thing which is their Seared Tuna Plate with Mashed Potatoes and Baby Arugula salad. I don't know why but I am addicted to this meal. The ahi always has a nice sear and I love arugula so their salad is my favorite even though it's simple. The mash is whipped and fluffy! I was craving a tomato soup and had my boyfriend order it as a side for his plate. He got a Salumi & Provolone sandwich and it was one of the best sandwiches we've had in awhile. The Roasted Tomato soup was more on the tarte side and was just alright, but I definitely felt healthy eating it. The service was friendly and food came out in a timely manner. I think this Tender Greens is a great addition to Mission Valley that offers healthy and delicious food.

I often get a Harvest Chicken Salad to go at either this location or Liberty Station. For some reason, the food doesn't taste the same at Liberty as it does from Misson Valley and after today, I am not going to return to this location. The salad I got was much smaller than usual -- maybe because they left out some of the ingredients, the to go dish was about half full and had about 3 leafs of lettuce. The chicken was full of grizzle. There was no stone or citrus fruit...just a few black berries. But worse of all, there were no pistachios! I also got a side order of roast vegetables and I told the cashier not to heat them because I was taking them home for later. He did not understand very well and I explained a second time that I wanted them cold, not to heat them. They were heated. And there was quite a long wait --not peak time, but because a customer in front of me asked the cashier many questions and also got a few samples to try because she couldn't make up her mind. There was a long line that formed because of all the time spent on this customer and no other employee opened a second register, and some were milling about not appearing too busy. The lady that brings the order to the table is always very nice though, that is the only good thing about this location.

One of my favorite places to eat. I usually get a hot plate with grilled salmon, mashed potatoes (A MUST), and romaine hearts salad. Their romaine hearts salad is basically a Caesar salad and it's delicious. The grilled salmon is so good it has a lemony flavor to it. I get the chipotle barbecue chicken or steak sometimes and those are also good options. I am interested in trying the panko crusted eggplant. They used to have a red velvet cake and that was the best red velvet cake I've ever had. Now they have a set dessert menu and they all look good. I've only had the s'mores cookie (when it was available), apple pie cobbler, and olive oil cake. All delicious! Staff is always great. I like their setup and how we're able to see how the available options look.

One of my favorite place in Liberty Station! I love the easy cafeteria style vibe, the food is fresh, healthy and delicious. I do always get the same dish but that dish be dishin!! The location is prime, with indoor and outdoor seating- plenty of parking at Liberty Station as well. The employees are efficient and even though there is no table service, the tables are cleaned regularly.

If you are picking up an order you need even CLOSE to the time stated then don't bother with this restaurant. ESPECIALLY pharma/med reps or anyone using catering to do business. Lord knows the whole chain will never see a dime from me or my company again. I will forever warn other people in my line of work to never ever use this place to cater business meals. I had an order I put in hours before with an early 11 pick up. I came in and they acted like I was insane, telling me I ordered for near noon. I make stupid mistakes allllllll the time....and was like oh crap my bad. Well..... I look at my order and I was RIGHT. So I show them and they still act like I'm an asshole. When they are the ones who wasted a significant amount of my time AND making me way too late for a lunch I was catering to conduct business. Maybe it's a good place for a leisurely meal? Lots of yoga pants at lunchtime on a Monday crowd meandering in...So if that's your thing it might be a nice place to get a fresh meal. Still, there are so many options right there to try! Me? I was late by a mile, lost money on a lunch (nearly $300 for it wasted as it was too late for me to do my presentation) I also lost on the opportunity I had been waiting for... months to get this chance... and you can bet it will be a long time before i get the chance again with this account. So I lost my time opportunity as well... food never tasted so nasty. Obviously colored by my bad experience. This place taught me to NEVER tip until after i pick up as well. I try to tip for pick up to go orders beforehand, but I won't be doing that ever again. I'll bring cash and do it if they do a good job. That's a new rule. Sorry folks but it's out of hand and out of order. COVID is no longer an excuse for especially bad service and rising costs of food. I am not going to sign up to be head clown with my pockets turned out because I let myself get fleeced tipping for ridiculously bad treatment. Service work is a tough job, but it's not the only tough job out there. Mine depends solely on my ability to meet with accounts, give presentations, and make a sale. If I don't do that, I don't get paid. If I don't get paid, there is no slapping on yoga pants and eating a leisurely salad in my future ...that's is for sure!!! More like hunched over some cup o noodles wondering how I'm going to make my car payment ... Today my job and income took a huge hit all because I made the mistake of going to Tender Greens. Expensive lesson learned. CAVA and Mendocino Farms are RIGHT next to Tender Greens. Go there. They actually get things done on time and have very healthy food as well.

Really disappointing. I called in my order for pickup 45 minutes before they were due to close, and I was told it would be ready in 20 minutes. When I arrived to pay, the cashier didn't mention any further wait time. I sat down to wait, and as 35 minutes passed, several workers walked by without acknowledging me, despite clearly being a customer waiting for my food. Two girls at the front, one wearing a mask, were standing around and appeared to be doing nothing to assist. I'm not sure if they were only cashiers, but their lack of attention was frustrating. Finally, what seemed to be a manager noticed me and asked what I needed. I explained that I had been waiting for 40 minutes. To my surprise, my order had been sitting on the counter, ready to go, but it had become cold. It was clear that the staff had neglected it for an extended period. The manager offered to make a new one, but they were already closing, and I didn't want to wait another 25-40 minutes. I ended up eating my meal cold, and I won't be returning to this location. I strongly suggest that they train their cashiers and provide awareness tips, as this is vital in the restaurant business. Especially when asking customers for tips when they're coming in themselves to pick it up...I wouldn't recommend this location, and I'd suggest visiting the La Jolla location instead.

I've gotten the pesto chicken sandwich a few times now and it's honestly such a great option for any sandwich lover. The bread is very good because it's grilled and crispy. The chicken is juicy and the pesto and aioli are a great touch. For the price too, it's one of the best bang for your buck meals you can find nowadays. The ingredients are fresh, and the employees are helpful and nice. I ordered online and it was hot and ready when I got there. It also was ready 10 minutes before it said it would be, so that was nice. Already looking forward to going back.

Always great for me. I consider it healthy "fast food" a little more pricy than McDonald's obvi but I'm no longer a teenager. The real reason I'm here to write this is the amazing customer service I experienced today. The guy at the cash register was so kind as well as the lady running the food out. She was aware when the customers (myself and the table next to me) forgot our napkins and silverware... she brought some out for us right after delivering our meal. I'm not sure if that's in her job description but that extra 30 seconds was so kind and it was seen and I'm here to appreciate her. Thank you.

The service was amazing. The staff was very attentive and our cashier had a great demeanor, really friendly guy. Food was SO fresh, my steak was cooked exactly how I like. Drinks are very fresh too. Worth the price for such a great quality plate.

This restaurant had several moments to be brought from three stars to four or even five, but kept falling short in so many odd ways. To start, this was my first time here, so I didn't know that after you place your order at the counter, you have to grab silverware on the way to find a table. When my server arrived with my food, I had to call after her to ask about eating utensils. She pointed up to the front of the restaurant. I was dining alone so I had to grab my purse and walk all the way to the front of the restaurant to find a fork. Turns out they are out of forks and are washing more in the back. I learned this detail from the same server that sent me on a fork scavenger hunt the minute prior. So now I'm standing around waiting for a plastic fork. Finally back at my seat and I dig into my soup. It was actually really good, but was way too salty. It was mostly only enjoyable with croutons or bread to help soak up the salt. My cobb salad was weird to eat with a plastic fork and a metal knife. It had a super generous portion of avocado and chicken, but then just one crumble of blue cheese on the entire salad and it felt like hardly any dressing at all. Really strange meal. Every part of it felt off balance and was either lacking something or overcompensating too much.

Super chill ambiance, great location, lots of seating inside and out and it just feels super calm inside. It's interesting as you walk to the back to order which of course let's you see all their options and that just makes you want everything :-). Went in with a friend and we both cleaned out plates, the food is great and service was spot on. A healthy option place, reasonably priced and the food is flippin amazing. Pros: Lots of parking as it's a mall Easy to find Super clean and organized Staff are super friendly and always cleaning and seem happy to be at work. Plenty of glass windows and outdoor seating for enjoying the amazing weather and of course...people watching Cons: bathroom is out of the way

I was deleting old phone pics and came across my one, forgotten Tender Greens pic. We had dinner here months ago during our San Diego trip. We had the tuna and rice plate, chicken salad, and chicken soup. All so simple, fresh, and delicious. Our favorite was their refreshing Hibiscus Tea! I craved it so much that I ordered two more cups for delivery to our hotel room the next day. My sis was thankful for it, since she got food poisoning (not from here!) the night before and the tea was all she could stomach for a while, poor thing. Wish my area had Tender Greens - we need more healthy options like this place! I'm surrounded by donuts and fried chicken places!

Customer service was fine but they changed the menu getting rid of the meals and you need to pay extra for everything now. Zero pesto on the chicken and the steak salad was pathetic to say the least.

Though it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things, I'm having a hard time believing that this is the same person! But okaaaay...

We ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with chicken tortilla soup, Delish, very fulfilling, crispy bread. The Asian steak bowl with Jasmine coconut rice was good. Steak was juicy, rice was sweet, sushi flavor, salad was sweet and spicy. Food was good and fast. Very busy, fast service, tender greens at fashion Valley back in day, was a sit down dark ambience more on the expensive side, different menu, and now they moved over to Mission Valley and it's more a takeout, fast service restaurant, still very fulfilling but fast. Portions are big.
