Tender Greens

My wife and I were visiting San Diego and Tender Greens was near our hotel. We were looking for a fresh healthy and tasty meal. Tender Greens delivered. Their food tastes like a really good home cooked meal. I had the roasted vegetables, French fries, and chicken. The portion was small but very delicious. It was well seasoned. The ketchup was high quality and maybe even made in house. My wife has the salmon salad which had a good portion of salmon. The service was friendly and they helped us navigate the menu avoiding gluten and dairy. Their service was quick and there’s a lot of seating if you want to bring your family or a group.

We had a great lunch here while visiting the city for the weekend. Really like the friendly staff, the green juice/drink was surprisingly refreshing. Glad I have that a chance.

The staff was amazing. Very helpful for my first visit and even let me know about free refills (not something expected). That’s about the best I can say about the place. The food was just above mid. It was warm, but not hot and fresh by any stretch. It took 22 minutes from payment to table delivery. My sea bass was very thin and looked like it was picked apart after plating. The flavor was good, but I expected more from what I’ve heard of this place. Oh yea, the watermelon aqua fresca was also delicious! Also, the place is not busy. My table was a little sticky, but the place needed a cleaning.

Love coming here for lunch from work. First off, from Ricky, the manager to the entire staff, everyone is amazingly friendly and if there’s ever an issue, they are quick to remedy it. I love both the salt and pepper chicken and the barbecue chicken and I love the side arugula salad. The roasted potatoes and the mac & cheese and mashed potatoes and gravy are also super legit. It’s always clean in there and I really like their lemonade as well. Overall, it’s just a good experience to come down here for lunch and eat something quick but also healthy (if you take out the mac n cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy, and their boooomb desserts).

Because of allergies, the staff has to be extra careful with my food, and often they create something not on the menu when needed, or heavily customize it. They have done an amazing job so far. We've been many times. We even held our daughter's wedding party luncheon on the patio here years ago. We are true fans!

I use to love tender greens, I ate a lot of it in Santa Monica. We tried this location and the steak was extremely fatty. The portions seemed to have gotten a lot smaller. Tender greens lost its hype.

This Tender Greens location has a special place in my heart because it’s one of the first restaurants my husband took me to when we were dating (8+ years ago). I’ve never heard of tender greens until he introduced it to me and I’ve been in love ever since! Tonight — I opted for the holiday special steak bowl with cauliflower and green beans. Everything was cooked to perfection — from my medium rare steak to the slight crunch of the string beans. This place always gets it right. The cauliflower is also worth mentioning because it was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, a light sauce was added for flavor and I loved it. I want to give a special shout out to Enrique who provided amazing customer service. He’s super friendly, was honest about the menu and made sure we had a great dinner experience. What sets this location apart from the others I’ve been to, is it’s never busy (at least when I go). The food is ALWAYS fresh and cooked perfectly. Plus, Enrique asked me how I wanted my protein cooked and no other location has asked me that before. Kudos to this man! Even my picky toddler enjoys the food here. The only downside about this restaurant is the parking. There is extremely limited parking and a laz parking lot next to it, but you have to pay. It’s expected though because it’s in downtown sd. The ambiance is clean, inviting and plenty of seating available. I also love the high ceilings and architecture of this place. We will definitely be back :)

I am not from this area so when I heard the name, I thought this was a rip off of another restaurant. There are so many new restaurants in this category including Java. But this restaurant has a bit more and is better in a lot of ways when it comes to food I personally enjoyed this more than the competitors and ii can Say it was packed. It stays open longer than Mendocino farms across the street. In general, I would pick them over the test of its classs.

Stumbled on this place because we were looking for a quick, light, healthy option and we were not disappointed. We walked on before dinner time and the atmosphere was clean and inviting. The menu is AWESOME! My husband and I wanted to try everything! The woman that took our order was friendly and the food was fresh. My husband and I both ended up getting the same salad (Mediterranean) and it was AWESOME. The sign of a good salad is not needing dressing - and this was a GOOD SALAD. 11/10 will be back! YUM!!

This is the best Tender Greens in San Diego! I was shocked with the quality service I got since I usually go to the one in Mission Valley and that one is so mid. Food is solid, fast casual spot. Came here during jury duty lunch to grab a solid meal. I wouldn't go out of my way since downtown parking is crazy, but if you're in the area - do it! Cashier was so kind and personable and went out of his way to spell my name correctly when I typically do not care for these things. Restroom was clean (you need a code to get in). Multiple times during my lunch staff asked if I needed anything and offered gravy for my mashed potatoes as well. They also clean up after you when you leave. Such a breath of fresh air! These employees work hard and are wonderful :)

For a doordash delivery order for a work lunch, half of us were missing our dressings and had very sad lunches. I called the restaurant, was on hold for about 10 minutes. A couple people came on the phone while I was on hold and asked me the exact same questions the last people had asked me. They seemed to be giving me the runaround and I never got to talk to a manager like I requested. I ran out of time and just hung up. My friend's seared tuna nicoise salad looked good. My "The green drink" was good but came in a giant soup tupperware so was a little awkward to drink.

I have eaten here twice. I tried the salmon salad and it was delicious! I had a cup of tomato soup and it was full of flavor and had a colorful presentation with wonderful croutons! I also had the steak salad which was a fabulous presentation and was a palate teaser of excellent flavors. The staff is very efficient, hardworking and the manager even came by and spoke to all the customers at lunch. The restaurant is clean, has plenty of seating and is in a great location when working downtown.

Friendly, helpful staff. I was looking forward to a great salad with my sea bass but had to pick out several rotted pieces of lettuce and gritty pieces that made me stop eating it after 2 bites. The sea bass was a bit water logged and not flavorful. The side of veggies was the highlight. Probably would not visit again, unfortunately.

TG food is always consistently great! I like the rewards program but their Associates are excellent..Rosemary and Enrique are always awesome along with others! Rosemary suggested their new pumpkin cupcake and it didn't disappoint..the manager Ricardo finds excellent employees ..

1. Parking is a nightmare. 2. Food is delicious and affordable. 3. Service is friendly 4. The restaurant is clean as well as the restroom. 5. I love their drinks. So overall they're A-okay in my book.

Wow! If only they opened one in Arizona!!! This place is amazing!! Freshest ingredients!! Plates, salads, bowls and lots of sides!! So happy to accommodate special requests. Fast service, great prices and friendly staff!! Plenty of room to eat in and they do a huge take-out business.

JUN2024 Ordered delivery. Seemed like good option for quick veggies with a bunch of carnivores so I grabbed this to save time. I had ordered the mac n cheese, baked falafel, seasonal veggies, and the greens drink. Everything was kinda bland. Being in a hotel I didn't really have much of seasonings to spruce things up or cook things so it was difficult. The mac n cheese was decent but tiny, the baked falafel didn't taste like anything and was grainy to bite through, the seasonal veggies needed some salt and to be cooked more. The greens drink was nice though as a palate cleanser after everything. Decent option but I don't think I'd use this place for an entirely vegetarian meal considering.

In order from this location on DoorDash. Took pictures of the food we couldn't eat because the food was stale and old and un chewable. The mashed potatoes looked like it was old and kept in the fridge, the gravy was cold and thick like jelly. The potatoes felt like plastic and had a weird white film over them. And they had the audacity to reply to my DoorDash review with a $5 off next order. I WILL NOT BE ORDERING FROM THERE EVER AGAIN!!! Are yall insane?! The food wasn't even edible! I want a full refund! Wtf

This place is usually a solid 10/10. The customer service is consistently great, and the food is generally delicious. However, today was a bit of a letdown. I waited over 30 minutes for a meal I ordered at the counter, and when it finally arrived, the gravy was already poured into the mashed potatoes in the to-go container. Please don't do that it's much easier to reheat and customize the meal when the items are packed separately. I had planned to use the gravy for the steak, too. Also, the portion of meat felt a little skimpy for a $22 meal (plus tip). That said, the restaurant was very clean as always, they refilled my drink on the way out without me asking, and they made sure I had silverware. Not a total loss and the kid working the front was pretty cute. (Sorry about the mashed potatoes pictures. I got hungry half way thru this)

I went into Tender Greens Downtown to order a sandwich while on jury duty. In front of me was an old homeless woman with her cart. Staff was very polite to her when she ordered a bowl of soup. I indicated to the cashier that I would like to pay for her meal and encouraged her to order a sandwich also, which she did. She was very thankful and polite as was the staff. Ricardo was the manager/cashier and I complimented him afterwards for being so kind and non-judgmental. I ordered a chicken sandwich which was very good and was impressed by how busy and efficient staff was--not only bringing out food quickly but cleaning tables, etc. I will be back!

to go order review -- ordered the hamburger which was surpriseingly good and also enjoyed the fresh potato spears. burger is great for a quick , not too heavy but filling lunch. also ordered the steak plate and was disappointed with the underwhelmed portion size .. i'd recommend just going for the steak sides x2 vs getting the sides if you want steak .. steak itself was delicious and flavorful. mashed potatoes were ok, a bit bland .. the mac and cheese was just awful, no flavor at all and i would opt for the salad as sides next time.

Food is always fresh and on point I order at least once a week at work. I walk like six blocks, but it's worth it. It's one of the few places that everything is very fresh every single time and I love their pineapple, mint refreshing drinks.

They used to be so good. Now the service is really slow. I waited at the head of the line for five minutes while the one and only cashier wandered off with the manager. He returned and called out, "Next?" He took my order slowly. Maybe he's new. But you don't stick the new guy there at the 12:30 pm hour! No wonder I waited a good ten minutes when I joined the li e, and another five minutes once I reached the head of the line. And there weren't that many people. As for atmosphere, it's okay. Busy lunch place, many people, and thus you can have some privacy amid all the noise. LOL. Because I ran out of time, I ordered my food "To Go". And thenI had to wait another ten plus minutes before running pell mell back to the office. Today, it's not what it used to be.

Solid spot to get a quick bite to eat with clean, healthy ingredients. Salmon tasted refreshing and had a great crust on the skin, not too heavy on the seasonings either. Definitely went there for the convenience, dining either indoor or outdoors, beautiful, sunlight windows if you seat indoors. It's a self service restaurant so you get utensils and just pick a table and the server brings out the order to you. Easy ordering with physical menus posted outside the spot.

I ordered a lava cake, which was pictured with ice cream. However, it arrived cold and without any ice cream. And no utensils to eat our food or dessert .

Totally misleading if you are vegan!!! I showed up ready to try Tender Greens out. Quickly realized it is menu based and they don't like doing substitutions. Menu has color codes for vegan vs gluten free foods but they are blue and green to the point that it is not clear. Employees were not sure either and this was disappointing. To add insult to injury person at the cash register tried convincing me that dairy can be vegan... No thank you!

The food is delicious. I ordered the Pacific Bowl with grilled salmon and rice and Cole Slaw. Enrique, the cashier was nice and helped me redeem my free beverage. Brandon gave me some cooking tips.

First time trying and I did delivery. We ordered a few different things. Some success, some failures. Green pozole soup. Decent portion for cost. Arrived cold even though whole order / delivery was fast. Could tell flavorful but put aside since cold. Katsu chicken ...decent portion. Tasted fresh overall good. Bolognese pasta. Cooked well. Flavorful Antipasto salad. Good Carrot cake. Dry ...maybe days old disappointing Side of mashed potatoes and gravy. This was most disappointing. The size was TINY for the cost. Cold, texture off yet could tell this could be good if prepped or packaged right maybe? The gravy was flavorful. Overall would try again. Maybe not delivery even though super fast.

First time I ordered online with this location. They got my order right and everything was delicious! The counter staff was excellent and handed my order to me without any questions. The inside dining area is always clean and comfortable even though I had a take away order I noticed how clean the tables were!

I came here a couple of times while I was staying in the downtown area for the Rock n' Roll San Diego Marathon. Although the food was good and the employees here were nice and friendly, this was not one of my favorite Tender Greens location. It was sad and such a hassle having to dodge so many homeless people on the way here! Not really the restaurant's fault, but it doesn't help with the dining experience. I did enjoy eating their Mediterranean steak salad and grilled salmon plate. Both were delicious and on par with what I'm used to eating at a Tender Greens.

Terrible customer service. I called asking a question about making an order as the website wasn't working. Whoever answered the phone I guess a Noah immediately hung up when I mentioned placing an order. I thought the call dropped so I called again and they ramble out some response I couldn't even hear and hang up again without actually addressing my question. On top of that I got into the restaurant and tried to order and was given two different responses. Ultimately they only had sides. This employee and this interaction honestly made me never want to come back here. Probably won't return.

Excellent salmon and seasonal vegetable plate would have rated 5 stars, but the spinach I got with it was ruined by blue cheese. The menu by the door said the spinach would have Laura Chenel goat cheese. But Laura Chenel does not sell blue goat cheese, so Tender Greens must have substituted blue cheese. A lot of people like me can't stand blue cheese. The servers should warn people. Yuck​

Came in to get food, huge line, and at least ten Uber eats drivers waiting in orders . Only one one person eating inside. Plenty of staff but backed up orders. This is not good business. Turn off your Uber eats orders if you can't manage them. Even the Uber drivers were getting mad because people ordering food were getting the for food before the Uber drivers. The drivers had other food orders in their car. This is bad for business. Shame on you, I just walked out and left.

I work downtown so TG is in top five of my go-to places downtown. I recommend ordering through the app so you get credit for each purchase and you and skip the lunch time crowd. For you hungry birds here's my executive summary so let's go!! -Service: 5/5 - Staff is friendly, limited during lunchtime so be patient. -Quality: 5/5 - Tasty, fresh and made by the order -Portions: 3/5 - Pre-pandemic I was spoiled the portions were bigger but not a showstopper I'll still patronize this restaurant. -Drinks: 5/5 - fresh and they have wine -Groups: 5/5 - Get here before the lunch rush. Dinner does Not get busy here during the weekends. -Parking: 3/5 - pay for parking, it's downtown so get ready for ankle express. -Depth of menu: 5/5 - fish, beef, salads, drinks, desserts - they check all the boxes and the menu changes each quarter. You will enjoy your experience here if you plan and order ahead. I gave four stars because I miss the bigger Salmon and chicken portions but I get it. TG I look forward you guys brining back breakfast at this spot!!!

Tender greens is great!! This chain consistently serves quality food for a reasonable price with great service, and this Tender Greens location is no exception. First, in terms of location, this Tender Greens is right smack-dab in the middle of Downtown San Diego. I walked, but I imagine parking may be difficult. Nonetheless, its central location makes it a great and convenient stop if you're in the area and feeling hungry. When I walked in, the place was relatively empty, though I had gone at a relatively early hour for dinner. So, our orders were taken right away, and we were seated immediately. The food didn't take too long to come out, either. Please note that the bathrooms are locked, and you need the code to get it; simply ask one of the employees after you've placed your order. The ambiance and decor were really nice--I was shocked! Of all the Tender Greens I've been to, I'd say this one was decorated the nicest. In terms of the food, I got my usual plate with shrimp, romaine (the Caesar salad), and seasonal vegetables. Last time I went to Tender Greens (a different location), the bread was hard and inedible. However, this location cooked it much better, and I was actually able to enjoy my side bread. I highly recommend the seasonal vegetables--the carrots are my favorite (and this is coming from someone who usually don't like carrots). I asked for light dressing, however, they gave me a lot. Maybe ask for it on the side. If you want to take your meal to go, they provide boxes, plastic utensils, and bags on the counter near the cashier. Very convenient! Overall, my experience was great here!

Tender greens is a decent place for a quick lunch. The location is a little unfortunate due to the mass of homeless.

Omgoodness this place was the bomb!!! Simple salad but elevated to the next level of deliciousness. Highly recommend the Cobb salad. So good for my tummy or I was just hungry. Either way, I would so order this salad again. Not one mouth was open for conversation only to eat what was in front of us. Everything tasted so flavorful. Thank you! We enjoyed everything on our table.

I love Tender Greens!! I always come here for lunch and order ahead of time. Whenever I come to pick up my lunch, it's always ready and the service is pretty fast. I am in and out within 6 minutes or less! And staff is always really nice and sweet. They have a great range of healthy choices and I have tried different meals from the steak, veggies, chicken, and soups. I love their chicken soup, it's delicious and their steak with veggies, and mashed potatoes is good as well. Their steak and mashed potatoes is not bland which I really enjoy!

The food was phenomenal! The male working the register on Saturday was very informative and helpful with meal selection. Very spacious and inviting location.

This place is horrible for pick up service. Im a dasher and just wanted to use the restroom. I just want all dasher and uber drivers to know if you have an order for this place and have to use the restroom they'll ask you to buy something from here. Ridiculous on many levels. How do you expect us to pick up from a location and can't use something as simple as a restroom. Y'all want to make money but can't help us drivers out is crazy work.

First time trying Tender Greens. Based off the name, I was previously under the impression it catered to Vegan/Vegetarian options. However, they have plenty of options for everyone. I tried the grilled steak plate (which comes grilled medium rare - yum!) . For sides I chose baby arugula salad and pasta pearl salad. They also offered a piece of bread. To drink I had a Pomegranate Ginger Agua Fresca. Everything was delicious. Reasonably priced (for nowadays) I feel like this isn't much more than what you pay for a fast food meal now and its quality food and fresh ingredients. They provide you with a number after ordering and will bring your food to your table and provide refills on drinks. I would certainly come back to try other options. Casual, cute seating area with indoor and outdoor options.

Enrique was the server, he was very knowledgeable Very helpful for the first time there.

Food was great, my niece said the salmon was divine!!! We were offered bread on the side, but IT wasn't served with our lunch. Hmmmm The server was doing a great job!!

Got the Summer harvest chicken salad. Chicken was cold but overall flavors were good and chicken wasn't dry. Not a heavy salad. Also felt a bit small. Restaurant was pretty smoky when I got there; not sure if their hood exhaust was broken or someone burned something.

I usually like to go a place multiple times before giving a review, but after coming here twice and having two completely different dining experiences, I feel that your dining experience will probably depend on the day and time that you go. Mind you, I came two days in a row and the difference is very obvious. First experience was great. Walked up to the register and greeted with a friendly smile and food received was absolutely delish. I ordered the grilled salmon salad and got the ginger dressing as well as an additional side of the lemon vinegarette. The greens were crips and fresh and the salmon was cooked absolutely perfectly. The ginger dressing was absolutely delicious and perfect with an added zing from the lemon vinegarette. Second experience: walked up to the register to be greeted by someone who was seemingly very annoyed and just did not want to be there. Jada took our orders with rolling eyes. Especially when I questioned the $42 bill because I saw a deal on the menu. I understand that it is the lunch rush, and you maybe this was questioned by someone else already. Maybe mention conditions of the deal when it is initially being ordered. This time I ordered the Japanese Curry bowl. As yummy as this was, I would say it's more inspired. I also ordered two sides of crispy potatoes. Crispy they were not. They were roasted. I would not have made a big deal of this if they had not been specifically differentiated on the menu. The extra $16 was due to the 6 cookies that I ordered. Again, when questioned, I was met with irritation and eye rolls explaining that the deal only includes a specific type of cookie rather than a mix. I decided to let it go instead of arguing rather than having to ring everything up again. As much as I am excited to try this entire menu, I think I'll stick to ordering online from now on.

Who serves grilled Salmon with skin on really nasty .Small piece too and soggy too .I'm in a suit and tie ,said I have to be a customer to get the combo for restroom .

Came for dinner and ordered the BBQ chicken salad and the Pearl Pasta Salad (basically couscous) and both were delicious! The salad had a tangy lime flavor and had lots of flavor with the tortilla chips, avocado, and chicken. The pearl pasta salad had a garlic kick which I love!! Garlic is one of my favorites so it was a nice surprise. The service was quick as we barely waiting for our food. It's located in a cute area so the ambience was comfy on a weekday evening. A go-to place for a quick and healthy meal!
