Tender Greens UTC: A Not So Tender Experience
I don't usually write reviews but this experience was just too comical not to share:
So I've probably eaten at this tender greens 20+ times, but had not been since the new renovations at the UTC mall. I order the grilled steak med-rare with spinach salad and mashed potatoes, my usual order. Everything tastes pretty good but the steak seemed like it had come out more rare than med rare, and it was just too chewy for my tastes and a bit cold in the middle. After finishing the rest of my food, I bring my plate to the cashier and ask:
"Hey is there any way you guys could just throw this back on for a min or two? It's just a little undercooked for me, maybe cook it to medium instead, my bad."
Cashier says, sure no problem.
I sit back down thinking nothing of it; a common, simple request.
Then I hear the manager starting to throw a tantrum, loudly yelling and making a scene, basically cursing me for having caused him the great inconvenience of throwing a piece of meat I already paid for back on the grill for 60-90 seconds. I should mention that the place is empty and still around an hour before closing, so there's just no way that fulfilling this request inconvenienced the normal operations whatsoever.
I'm already chuckling to myself when I see the cashier I spoke to earlier approaching with the recooked steak. She literally chucks the plate onto our table and storms off LOL I guess she too was somehow gravely inconvenienced by doing her job. Then I noticed that they took the used silverware I returned with my plate and put it back on top of the recooked meat. A clear, openly disrespectful gesture, and also unsanitary.
Obviously I'm not going to eat anything prepared by people holding a grudge over nothing, but my wife was still finishing her food so I sat waiting for her to finish.
Somehow boss baby was still seething, and starts off on another tantrum, as if I had personally spit in his face or insulted his cooking, cost him money, or even had any interaction with him whatsoever lol. Not being inclined to argue with children, we left.
All I can say to boss baby is: grow up. I didn't ask for a free steak, I didn't say you did anything wrong, I didn't hassle the staff, I politely made a very common request and you still threw a public meltdown tantrum, and then got your poor employee to take out your baby rage on me. I literally made you money and you're crying like a fussy toddler. It was like being on an episode of Kitchen Nightmares where the delusional owner needs to be taught basic common sense by a flabbergasted Gordon Ramsey. Your job is to serve customers. This includes the occasional re-firing of a meal. That you took this personally just shows you aren't ready for the big leagues. Again, grow up and do your job.
I think the employee can be forgiven. She was probably chewed out by boss baby and she's young. But boss baby, you're a full grown man acting like a child. You have no excuse. Boss baby really just needs to put the tender back in tender greens, rediscover the passion for reheating food that seems to be missing, and stop having embarrassing public tantrums in front of all his employees. His conduct is clearly rubbing off on the other employees so probably not the best guy to be leading the operation. Management may want to check the local middle school for a more mature/emotionally stable leader. Impulse control in general seems to be an issue at this location.
The place was pretty clean though so that was nice.
