I’ve been tried a lot of Japanese restaurant in Seattle area, The sushi place definitely is outstanding! The fish is fresh, beautifully presented, and thickly sliced. A truly premium Japanese dining experience. They also have wonderful desert! My kids love it. Parking is convenient! It’s a great place to bring kids and enjoy as a family.

To be very honest, I wasn't expecting much from a conveyor belt sushi spot. But the quality was above average for other similar conveyor/casual sushi spots. I love the cuts they offer here that many casual spots don't, such as chu-toro, uni (both i didn't get to try, they didn't have any) , etc Great attentive service and great spot for a decent above average casual sushi. I go for traditional pieces. Really enjoyed the taste, everything was clean tasting, not fishy at all. Highlights: Hotate (scallop) Oshinko Negi Hama Ikura Salmon Belly The amaebi was a little unclean tasting and the head was not as crispy as I usually get at other places and not seasoned. But it was okay. Overall I would come again, wish we had something similar in Seattle or district area

Tldr: I've been here 8 times so far and the sushi is always delicious, the workers are great, the restaurant is clean but the aesthetic and atmosphere are a bit boring. I'd highly recommend this place to anyone looking for delicious sushi. The sushi here has been excellent every time I've come. Very flavorful, always quite fresh, good selection... Not much to say other than that this is my favorite sushi place currently. The seared 7 spice tuna is my favorite. The employees have always been quite responsive, fast, polite... Everything I could ask for in a service worker. The atmosphere is the one place I feel this restaurant falls a bit short. The restaurant is always clean, bright, well maintained. The aesthetic of it all is just a bit boring for my tastes... It feels a bit sterile and.. just boring I guess. The food really does make the restaurant well worth the visit, but I'd be thrilled to see them redecorate a little.

Loved getting to try a variety of sushi! You get to start eating right away if you want. They had some amazing rolls. Love their cheesecake. Their green tea cheesecake could have more green tea flavor though! In general there’s very little interaction with staff. They seemed really nice though! The prices aren’t bad at all. Definitely worth trying!

Google
There were $5 plates with only 2-3 pieces of sushi on some plates. Expect to pay over $40 per person. Pay attention to what color plates you're getting! Honestly, it is too expensive for the quality/quantity.

Last time I was here was 3 years ago! Google let us know it would be a 30min late, so it was not surprising when that was true. We had a pleasure of looking at the menu as we waited and we ordered everything we wanted. Great prices, the $15 rolls section is to DIE for! The sushi tower was flipping incredible, beautifully designed. It was worth it. Never had I drunk the beer before but it did the trick! Treat ourselves!!!

Got food poisoning from eating here. Woke up with a head ache, body ache, had 3 bowel movements, then a sudden onset of vomiting hours later, after which I finally felt mostly better, albeit still sore in the body. I believe it was from one of the raw food sushi selections, as these were the only foods I consumed that my family also did not eat. We didn't eat out elsewhere that day so I'm fairly certain this place is what plagued me. Elapsed time from eating to feeling a headache when I woke up was maybe 12 hours. Other than this extremely negative experience, I thought the food and service were okay. Please make sure you're adhering to best business practices for cleanliness and let this serve as a warning to others. We will not be eating here again, but we hope that your business will maybe do a better job of ensuring the food is as safe to eat as possible.

Google
This is such a good place to get quick, fresh, good sushi. I’ve loved this place for years so I’m happy we had a chance to eat here during our recent visit to Seattle. When we lived in Seattle we would eat here regularly so I’m happy to see they are still around and the food is still tasty as ever. They have a wide selection on the belt and if you want more they have an excellent menu to order from.

Yelp
This was my first time ever trying conveyor belt sushi, and I was so impressed! We were immediately seated and our drink orders were taken (highly recommend the strawberry lemonade). Since this was our first time we didn't know what to do, so we asked for assistance. I agree with past reviews that service is not quite attentive, but if you advocate for yourself they are more than happy to fulfill a request. Everything is labeled and comes by on rotation about every 10-15 minutes. My favorite rolls were the crunchy California and the Phoenix roll! That Phoenix roll still haunts me as I have now been back just for that roll alone haha! Even their dessert options are delicious! Highly recommend, a quick and easy date night with tons of fun and low prices for two!

Yelp
This conveyor belt sushi place was okay - just like the sign from the heath department says. The place was clean and service was fast - I got a sapporo right away and they checked in on me quite a bit. I only ate from the conveyor belt which was probably a mistake. The selections were pretty good, but the food that was supposed to be hot and crispy were lukewarm and soft and the raw fish seemed kind of dried out. The taste was not bad, though.

Michelle C.

Yelp
How can you not have fun with conveyor belt sushi! There were seats at a bar along the conveyer belt and booths for larger parties. There was a good assortment of fish. It's no doubt expensive to really stuff yourself here, but it's delicious and a fun expérience nonetheless. It'll be hard to not stack those plates up!! Not my fave that you have to do your own math because each different color plate is a different price, but the conveyer belt is so fun you probs won't even keep track.

Julius O.

Yelp
Its no good here now, new ownership make it worst, more expensive but food no good. The service is slow and cup is dirty. Japanese food but i don't see any Japanese person like before. Not satisfied and not worth the money.

CT C.

Yelp
Many years ago, I used to come here and enjoyed the sushi here. However, this time I was near the restaurant and wanted a quick bite, the sushi on the belt are not fresh, not sure how long they have been on the display. For raw seafood, this is not something I want to put in my stomach. So I ordered a chirashi bowl which at least it would be freshly prepared. The fish is dry as well, the basis of sushi rice is hard, and I doubt it is sushi grade rice. However the price for the chirashi bowl is not as expensive as other Japanese restaurants. I treated it as fast food. Anyway, probably wouldn't be back. Interior of the restaurant didn't change at all, fine for this type of restaurant.

Heather R.

Yelp
I come as often as I can. It's fresh, lots of variety, incredible service and delicious food!

Ace C.

Yelp
Tastes like grocery store sushi but at restaurant price. Rice is mushy and wet, fish portions are small, wasabi is clearly old. I only go here when I happen to be next to it. The plain udon is pretty good.

Laura V.

Yelp
I have been here four times. My first advice is, to not expect service after being seated. It's you and the conveyer belt. Tip: order your choice of drink before being seated. You will not be checked up on until you go to the register to pay the bill. I wanted to order another drink. Could not find anyone to help. Went to the bathroom and observed three wait-staff actively hiding in curtained off area, to avoid assisting customers. Made me sad, I could have used 5 minutes of their time to order more. I do enjoy the variety of fish dishes. I have come for both lunch and dinner. Dinner offers more variety and better dishes. Love the salmon Kama here, well cooked and full of flavor. The most expensive dishes are the best. I had about 60.00 worth of assorted sushi and it was great. I stick to sushi rather than rolls and there are many options here. once you are finished eating, you will need to hunt down a cashier to pay your bill. This may take a while.

Noyonima H.

Yelp
My favorite local conveyor belt sushi place! I've been eating here for years and really enjoy certain dishes. PROS: - great location, plenty of underground and street parking available with 30 mins parking right in front - good assortments of fish and sushi ranging from nigiri, fusion rolls, hand rolls, noodles, soup, cheesecake etc you have choices from the conveyor belt and ala cart. The rice is well seasoned, salmon is excellent as always. - Love their happy hour deal! 15% off 11am - 4:30pm M-F - Feels like new management and new sushi chefs (all women). Today's meal was exceptional for a conveyor sushi joint, way better female chefs than past years - polite attentive and friendly staff always ready to help CONS: - A bit pricey for the value. I don't like their price points for hand rolls at all. I think it's ridiculous. - Not all fish taste or look fresh, some can have a "fishy" taste. Be choosy when picking a plate. - cuts are inconsistent and for the price I expect larger more generous slices of fish per portion. - the assortment of sushi tends to be better closer to dinner or when crowded. I don't know why they can't put out the good stuff during happy hour too, it doesn't make sense to me and loses value because of these sneaky tradeoffs they make. This sort of practice is so cheap and tacky, especially at these prices. Overall I recommend this place. Tengu - Just be a good business and offer all customers the same types of sushi that you're known for at any time.

Yelp
Super cool to have a conveyor belt sushi spot! The quality is pretty good for conveyor belt style. It can be a long wait to get in, so making a reservation or joining the waitlist helps. I've been twice with friends and it's a good spot to meet up and have a meal with groups or families.

Lei G.

Yelp
We stopped in for dinner after watching a movie. Conveyer belt sushi is not the most exciting, but they did have a good variety of sushi. We ordered a couple of specific sushi roll which were better. Service was average. We went strictly for the location convenience.

Taneisha E.

Yelp
Food was amazing and at an affordable price i was blown away at the price and the quality of food

Gerry O.

Yelp
Not at all what I expected. Prices are too high for the cuts and flavor. Spicy tuna roll was flavorless to the point where it was best left unfinished. After 4 plates, my partner and I left to go to another sushi spot that we know is better. Do yourself a favor and don't eat here if you know good sushi. Ambience was nice, staff was friendly, but those don't overcome boring dishes.

Philip P.

Yelp
This sushi spot has been around for over a decade now which amazes me since so many conveyor belt sushi restaurants haven't been doing too well around here. It's been a long while since I've ate at Tengu and not much has changed. Well, except for the prices. That's definitely gone up over the years. Being right next to the movie theater and located right under an apartment complex definitely helps with giving this place a lot of business. Gets extremely busy during the dinner rush. You'll be for sure putting yourself on the wait list and waiting for at least 20 minutes for a spot. Honestly, the sushi is pretty average for it's price. But I do like the fact that there's actually sushi on the belt that I would like to eat. They offer some unique cuts also which were limited time specials. It's rare that I see a whelk or sea bream at a conveyor belt place, so they have that going for them. A lot of their rolls tend to be really saucy which can be a hit or a miss. The nigiris are decent. Nothing that really pops out except for the specials, but not because they were good, but because they have them. This was just fine for me. Sushi chef's were really nice and brought out on-demand orders quickly. Props to them for taking our order despite how busy they were. The wait staff could be better to be honest, but it's not their fault. They basically were overwhelmed and being pulled from all directions. I would say this was lackluster for me, but it was still fine. I used to love this place and rave about it back in the day. Something is missing now though, but I'm not sure what. There's some care for this place which can be seen through the sushi chefs and service. I think Tengu needs to bring life back into this place somehow. Update the decor and the dinnerware. I think that can help a lot.

Yelp
this place has come really far in the past year...! their service has improved and they've also expanded their menu! i love their weekday happy hour special (monday-friday 11:30am-4:30pm 15% off) dine in only! their sushi is always good quality! i ordered my favorite, which is the vegetable tempura roll and salmon belly nigiri. i also tried their chicken katsu curry and they offer a good portion with a flavorful curry and super tender fried katsu chicken!! MY ABSOLUTE GO TO PLACE IN NORTHGATE!!

Judy F.

Yelp
Seated quickly & service was attentive on a Friday, 7:00pm. Cozy restaurant and lots of elbow space at bar. But disappointed as food was just old. Fish lacked freshness, rice was mushy & wet, limited choices and portions were small. Many other quality options available. We won't be going back.

Emily L.

Yelp
To begin, the sushi itself wasn't bad but the choices you see at first will be the ones you'll continue to see, and nothing new was really added. I was hoping for more variety. If you did want to order, I wasn't really sure how because they give you a menu but literally nobody checked up on us to see how we are doing or if we wanted to order something. For that, I'd say the customer service was very poor. The price was decent. It ranged from about $4-$6 ish dollars per plate. It's worth a try for the cool conveyor belt but otherwise I would say try another place.

A L.

Yelp
The food is terrible and unimaginative. My husband didn't get water and my wine came without a glass. I felt like a wino drinking from the bottle.

Gena B.

Yelp
We ate in. Tempura done perfectly. Excellent sushi. Service was great. Very reasonable pricing.

Anev S.

Yelp
It's conveyor belt sushi, what else can I say? The place is clean, the selection is good, some of the dishes I tried were superb and some were subpar. Yknow. Like a conveyor belt sushi experience. The process of checking out was a little awkward but everyone was efficient otherwise.

Daphne H.

Yelp
Sushi was alright, a bit on the pricey side for what you get. Service on the other hand was terrible. We got seated and didn't have anyone check in on us for the first ten minutes. When we finally ordered, the waitress with short black hair and glasses interrupted us multiple times. Then, when we got our check, the same waitress rang us up and gave herself a 25% tip! We didn't pick this option; she had charged us and gave us the screen to sign without showing us the screen with a tip option. We didn't realize until we got the receipt, which showed she had given herself a $23 tip. We got it voided by another waitress (thank you!!) but just be warned to check how much you're paying before you leave.

Yelp
I believe there was new ownership as of January 2022 and unfortunately the difference in service and quality of food is significant. I've been a couple times this year just to see if it was just a "one off" bad experience but nope. For those who have dined here in the past, you might agree or notice the differences. They did remodel the interior and added more food options which is nice, but I rather have less menu options and quality food in the before times even if it's conveyor belt sushi! The fish also doesn't seem to be as the same quality and the cuts of the fish too. I miss the old owners. :( I feel like they should've changed restaurant name so folks know it's different and won't except something they experienced in the past.

Kristen K.

Yelp
Tengu Sushi is possibly the best conveyor belt sushi spot in Seattle! The prices aren't cheap, but they're reasonable, the food portions are generous, the fish is fresh, and they always have a unique variety of fish too! For example, besides the usual offerings like salmon nigiri, they have salmon belly and a REALLY good salmon kama (fatty fried salmon cheek and belly). Today, I had Hirame (flounder), Kobujime (bronzine), Kanpachi (amberjack), Hamachi (yellowtail) belly, Tsubugai (whelk), Saba (mackerel), and more. They are always well-stocked on fish and I love it! A tip about that amazing salmon kama -- make sure you know which one you're ordering. They have 3 small pieces on a plate (less than $6) and a HUGE appetizer plate for $16. One great thing is that Tengu Sushi is a convenient 2 blocks from the Northgate Light Rail Station (about a 5 minute walk). So you can easily pop up here before going to the Regal Theater next door or just hop back on the Link. The restaurant is clean with ample counter seating and a few booths. They cover each sushi plate with a clear plastic cover, so you don't have to worry about the food being contaminated by other guests. They are usually well-staffed with lots of friendly employees. They like to play k-pop and other Asian pop hit And yes, they do have a bathroom. My only critique is that it would be good if they got AC for hot summer days. But the fans usually do a good enough job. Overall, Tengu Sushi has quickly become one of my favorite sushi spots in Seattle! My mom, picky Asian auntie, and friends like it, too! Highly recommended.

Navella P.

Yelp
I was having a decent experience until afterward when me and my brother in law were paying our bills. Paying by IPad like device, I pushed custom tip and input $0.00, but when I went home, this restaurant charged me almost $8 for a tip. I DIDN'T put that tip amount, so yeah, I wouldn't go there again

Yelp
Such good food!!!the service was amazing such kind people and the decor is so pretty!

Yelp
I've found my new favorite Conveyor belt sushi restaurant in Washington! Tengu Sushi does an excellent job at keeping their belt stocked with good quality sushi, and great service as well. It's a bit more lowkey compared to a more popular place like Kura in Bellevue, so you'll likely have much shorter wait times here as well. I'm a huge fan of nigiri and they get it right here. They serve nice cuts of fish and everything tasted surprisingly fresh. I like how they don't cut their nigiri super thin like other places. Prices here are a bit on the pricier side. We spent $100 for two people here, granted I am a big eater. It's the most I've spent at any conveyor belt sushi restaurant in Washington, but this just shows how tasty and addicting their sushi is. I'll definitely be back as it's rare to have good conveyor belt sushi around here. There's also a parking garage right across from the restaurant!

Joselyn N.

Yelp
We were seated quickly and the place was calm with average noise level. The food was just okay, I probably wouldn't come back unless I was in the area without a car and hungry. I had the salmon roll which the server told us was the most popular. I really enjoyed this. I tried other plates and everything else was pretty average. Some of the sushi in the conveyor belt tasted lukewarm like it had been out for a while, so usually I order from the menu at these revolving sushi bar places. I tried the cream puffs as well which were nice and light. Pricing was fair.

David S.

Yelp
Maybe it was an off day so I'll give them 3 stars. But every one of the five items we ate was mediocre. It was a take-out order. Tho the layout looked very awkward.

Khadejah D.

Yelp
Friendly, helpful staff.Tgey have soft tuna belly on their menu.Prices are reasonable.

Sara S.

Yelp
Use to love this place, not after todays experience, will not be coming back. Came here today and it, was not busy, was seated pretty quickly, and this is when our experience started to go downhill.... We were sat down and ditched. You read correctly DITCHED! We weren't asked what we wanted to drink and I had to waive someone down after 10 minutes of waiting. After we ordered a couple items we were waiting a while and was NEVER checked on the entire dinner. When we started eating we noticed there was no ginger in the containers. We tried to grab some from the neighboring containers, but they were empty as well! One other thing that shocked me was how dirty the water cups were... did not want to drink out of one of them. I am really sad the owners changed and how management has gone downhill. This place is no longer my favorite kaiten sushi restaurant.

Ed R.

Yelp
This is a great place for conveyor sushi. It is a bit pricey compared to other sushi places, especially considering you don't really have a server. It is good food and even a fast option since the moment you sit down you can start eating and I would encourage others to go there if they wanted sushi. They also had nice music playing and it wasn't too busy when we were there for dinner.

Anthony A.

Yelp
Food was sub par, Service was slow and rude, the server was rude to the party I was with, and when paying she put 20% on the tip spot on the bill, didn't hand the tables to sign, just said you sign now. Will not recommend to anyone I know in the Seattle area

Audrey C.

Yelp
Decided to try this place out since their COVID-19 dine-in reopening. Upon entry, we realised that the revolving sushi would not be available as they took out the seating in the mid section of the restaurant to make room for take out orders. The place seemed quite busy and, from what I could see, there only seemed to be 3 sushi chefs and one waitress managing the entire restaurant. It took them 10 minutes to get us seated because they were more focused on the take out orders and seemed pretty flustered. When we finally reached our table, we were seated at the booth. The waitress also forgot to give us our menu along with soy sauce and wasabi. We had to request for these items. Instead of having the serve yourself revolving sushi style of eating, we had to order off of the menu and they brought us our food. Moreover, due to COVID-19, they limited their sushi menu and did not have some of the specialty rolls available to order. As a result, we ordered a combination of the salmon, seared salmon, ahi, tuna, ebi, along with the salmon collar. The salmon collar took the longest to come out, however the nigiris were made in the order the chefs received our selection. The quality of the sashimi was pretty good and we could see the sushi chefs preparing our order however the service was grossly subpar. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and attribute their service to them being primarily occupied with the take out orders. Their prices were also pretty high being a conveyor belt sushi place. Ultimately, I would recommend not returning for their dine in until they have the revolving sushi back in order. I feel like it defeats the purpose of the novelty of the restaurant and you're just getting plain sushi. If you want better sushi and service, opt for a dine in experience elsewhere! At least until their revolving belt is back and running.

Carolyn K.

Yelp
Eel was fine, but this is the most unappetizing rainbow roll we've ever ordered The smell is off. I can't believe they were ok serving this. The miso soup has a flat aftertaste. This was our first time and last time getting any food here, what a disgrace.

GooGooProof M.

Yelp
Outside looking in it's another carousel sushi. Design of carousel layout isolates diners from communication with the chefs which I think is an important part of the sushi experience. Small selection on carousel leaves a need to order from laminated menu. Menu lacks info and does not reflect signage on carousel. I've been to similar restaurants that have a digital system tied into the chefs and it is very efficient. The food was ok, not great. The price point is very high for mediocre food... meaning it's too expensive to be mediocre. I've been to other carousel style sushi places and the communication between diner and chef is very important. This restaurant is missing that link. I actually did walk over to the chefs and asked if they offered salmon skin soup- my favorite- and the reply was "no" . No conversation, no reply questions like what other items can we get for you. Very unfriendly attitude. These sushi chefs are not line workers on a car assembly plant but that's the way I felt they acted. No one asked if we needed water or wanted a beverage. This is not a place I will return to.

Natasha R.

Yelp
I went to grab a quick lunch here - the place was very clean, sanitizer jug available at the door, and quick service. My lunch bowl was under $9, it was delicious. I will be coming back again for another fresh wonderful and affordable lunch.

Manuel R.

Yelp
Order 9 order of variable sushi and NO SINGLE SPICY MAYO , they do not offer it with meal ?? And no silverware included ?? Made me BUY 6 packets of the spicy mayo

Jay L.

Yelp
I will say overall it's a good sushi fix. I'm normally not a fan of conveyor belt sushi just due to the stress for the chefs to make sushi on demand and the chance the roll won't come out as consistent. I've gone here multiple times and find my cravings satisfied. I made the mistake blindly just grabbing plate after plate piling it up. Not realizing the damage I've done to myself They do offer bentos or some other fillers too. This place is fun very interactive very casual place with friends. The staff is sweet, diligent as they can. I'd say don't be shy to ask for help because they surely do accommodate to your questions or requests!

Yelp
We've been here a lot - although the sushi is average/below average, it's really convenient after hockey practice and they recognized us as regulars. We've support med them on slow Tuesdays, Friday and everything in between. They've incorrectly over-counted our plates a couple of times, but it was fine. However, I'll never go back there again. I showed up with two kids and the place was surprisingly busy, so we signed in and waited patiently - probably 20 minutes or so? While we waited, I watched them seat multiple tables of 2, including those that were just walking in the door. It was annoying but I figured they had a plan. At one point, though, a family of 3 gets up from the bar, so I get the kids ready because we're surely next. However, instead of seating us, they sat another table of 2 into those 3 seats while we just sat there. My young kids even asked what happened. So, I mentioned it to waitress, assuming that they'd just made a mistake and would at least apologize, but she just stared at me blankly and said nothing and walked off. I then figured that the hostess, who knows us, would at least apologize, but when I explained it to her, she said "OK" and then walked off. I wasn't expecting them to move people out of their seats, but just an acknowledgment - but I got absolutely nothing. We're regulars. We've been supporting this place with the the below average sushi and the sketchy plate counting for months, and this is how they treated us. Good luck to anyone who wants to go there.

Wendy B.

Yelp
I don't understand the bad reviews, because for conveyer belt sushi it was great. Went for lunch on a Wednesday and was seated quickly. It was a hot day so it was nice to be in the air conditioning. Never ran out of water, thank goodness since as mentioned before it was a hot day. Service was friendly and helpful. I liked the variety of sushi and desserts. Got in and out quickly, perfect fast lunch.

Ash D.

Yelp
We've gone multiple times since this place has changed owners. We wanted to give them a few chances to figure things out operationally since the new ownership but nothing has improved. Service is extremely slow and no one ever checks on us. We typically have to flag someone down so we can order anything that isn't on the conveyor belt. I've noticed other patrons doing the same and there were even parties on several occasions that left because the food was taking so long to come out. Additionally, the menu has since changed and the food tastes different. On my most recent visit, I ordered a spicy tuna hand roll and I couldn't finish eating it because the fish was seasoned strangely and had a weird texture. We really used to love coming here and I'm sad to leave this review. But Tengu is no longer in our frequent sushi spot rotation.

Christopher K.

Yelp
Sushi is good. Belt is very fun for kids. Limited family seating (three booths) but lots of seats.

Agnes C.

Yelp
Not too much to choose from on the belt . Cut of fish is thin, not worth the price they charge for them.

Mel G.

Yelp
Waited way too long to be asked what I wanted to order. The sauce cups are dirty too which was gross

A G.

Yelp
A very OK Sushi place. The type of place you know exactly what to expect with food the moment, your foot steps in to the threshold. Sushi by plates price is pretty uncomfortable now days, I went with 2 order of Rolls Salmon roll and Tengu roll were both pretty OK. I think the Salmon roll was better one between the two. I was very full after 2 rolls and left the store mildly satisfied. (+I didn't have any post sushi up-set with my digestive system) So if you're aiming for a theme, and if that theme is OK. Tengu Sushi is a must try sushi restaurant in Seattle

Sara V.

Yelp
I went again the next day when my family wanted to see the very same movie HAHA - We were seated immediately and everyone had a good time.

Morgan B.

Yelp
Me and family member went here for a quick lunch. Contrary to many of the reviews, I thought this was great. The sushi was good for a conveyer belt place and I felt as if the selection was also good. The service was pretty fast and we were able to get in and out quickly. Quite honestly you could even park in the 30 minute parking spots in front of the restaurant for lunch. It was cool in there and calm. Overall it was a pretty chill lunch, I'd recommend popping in.

Yelp
This place has gotten better over the last couple years. They added some new food dishes to the menu that we really like. We well eat in, and also grab some to go for later. It can be hit or miss at times with the conveyor belt, so sometimes timing makes a difference. Enjoy!
