Yelp
This is among the worst BBQ that I've had which didn't come out of a plastic tub at the grocery store. I came in on a Saturday afternoon, so one would think everything would be nice and fresh. In actuality, I got small shreds of BBQ pork literally dripping in grease and clearly scooped out of the bottom of a pan or crockpot where they had been sitting all day. Totally unacceptable for 'real BBQ' ... nothing about this was real, unless you consider it a 'real shame' to the BBQ name.
The mac and cheese tasted fresh from the box and pre-made from a powdery mix vs. homemade. There was no melty/drippy cheese. It tasted EXACTLY like Kraft Mac & Cheese from the box, which had been placed under a heat lamp for hours and hours until it dried out. Come on ... a box of mac & cheese is 99 cents at the grocery store and makes 8 portions in the sizes you dish out. How can you serve dry, old mac and cheese to people when making a fresh batch is so cheap? Total laziness.
Back to the BBQ ... this was a mushy mess. REAL BBQ (or even somewhat decent BBQ) is moist shreds of pork or brisket. It's hard to keep BBQ from drying out, which is why it's usually made in waves vs. making big batches and kept under heat lamps. They douse their BBQ in BBQ sauce BEFORE it hits the bun so it doesn't dry out when sitting all day. This means you don't get to choose the BBQ sauce ... it's just there. Also, as the meat loses its moisture into this mess of meat and sauce, it begins to fall apart and get greasy.
There was no smokey taste. No big pieces to chew ... you could literally suck up the meat in the sandwich with a straw. The bun was a common 99 cent for 8 supermarket bun. It was absolutely evident that no care, home cooking or expertise had gone into the preparation of what they are serving. At one time ... going back at least 10 years ... this place served slightly above mediocre BBQ. There was always a line at the counter. Now it's just going through the motions and almost empty on a weekend lunch.
The sauce ... Kraft or Bullseye brand has more flavor. I tried all 3 sauces and they all tasted the same. Sugary ketchup squirted from a big vat.
Clearly this shop has called it in and decided to just 'get by' based on location alone as no care goes into the food here. Overly greasy, mass-produced sugary sauce saturated junk is what this is. Sorry but I literally would rather throw $11 away than spend it on what I got here again.
