"With locations in Framingham, Braintree, and Peabody, this fast-casual group smokes meats over hickory, apple, and cherry wood, and the house barbecue sauce has a tomato base with a hint of chocolate. Lots of combos and bulk meats and sides are available." - Valerie Li Stack, Rachel Leah Blumenthal

Just simply a great BBQ place. Ive been to a few of the most highly reviewed BBQ places in New England and i left disappointed at all of them. Thats not the case at Tennessee BBQ. Its great BBQ and it's consistently good. The hot and tangy bbq sauce is amazing. I smother the pulled pork with it. The meats were expertly cooked and the sides were delicious. Top it off with a smiling and friendly staff and you can't go wrong. Give them a try.

Google
Food was excellent. Quick affordable delicious smoked BBQ. Menu is a pretty good size as well. I got the 1/2 chicken with three sides for 15.99 and what a steal that price is. A ton of food! My lady got the chicken burrito and it was packed with food and flavor. Their sides are great too! I got a sweet potato, cucumber salad and corn on the cob that was to die for. Will definitely be returning back to this place. So close as well!

Google
Worst BBQ I’ve ever had. The food was definitely old. Cost us $55 for lunch and we left having eaten almost nothing. I ordered “pulled chicken”, which they say is smoked chicken… well, it doesn’t look at all like pulled chicken. It was chopped (roughly, at that) and had the most foul taste I’ve encountered in a long time. The sweet potatoes I got as a side looked old and microwaved and went in the trash. Do not recommend. The fact that they don’t even have name brand soda in their soda fountain, should have been a reason to turn around and leave by itself. Definitely a forewarning there! I understand that many businesses are struggling. It’s hard to keep up with building repairs, paying staff and vendors etc. but a restaurant that actually *tries* goes much farther than one that serves a customer sweet potatoes that should have been thrown out a week ago. 👏 Accountability 👏 is 👏 important 👏

I have had real BBQ in Tennessee and this ain’t it. Flavors were ok but lacking few key things. First off the brisket was so dry. It looked old and almost like a dried up pork chop instead of fresh cut brisket. The smoked wings seemed like could have used some extra time in smoker. The Mac and cheese and potatoe were beyond basic. The ribs, mashed potatoes and slaw were on point and saved the day from a complete let down. Unfortunately this was a one and done for me.

Google
Worst brisket I’ve had in years. If it was smoked at all I couldn’t detect it. No smoke ring. Basically pot roast. Fries good. Collard had brisket not ham or bacon, not to my taste.

Visited on a Monday afternoon. Few ppl in the place, no wait. Although it is in a strip mall , once you walk in it does feel like a roadhouse and that is not all good. Place obviously has had a lot of use and some wear and tear adds to the roadhouse vibe but there is a line where it is just poor maintenance. Paint on the booths is worn away in spots, that's OK. Fabric on booths is held together (badly) with Duct tape, that's not OK. Rest rooms were usable, but that's as far as I would go. Over all the facility itself does not get any attention to it and crosses the line between rustic and just dirty. I got a burrito and it was very good and a good value. They did mix up our sides so we sorted it out ourselves at the table. My wife had a pulled chicken sandwich which was very disappointing. Chicken was not pulled it was just cut chunks , she said it took a lot of BBQ sauce to make it passable. Smashed potato side was very good, cole slaw was meh and my wife who loves sweet potato fries said they were also disappointing.( BBQ places should have awesome sides). Normally I would give the food a second chance but the overall grunge of the place means it is off our repeat list. The 2 stars was for the quick service and the burrito alone,

Google
In on vacation and was looking for a family friendly restaurant that was quick but not fast food. Great selection at reasonable prices for the portions. Everything was delicious! Make sure you get their cornbread! We ordered extra cornbread to go because it was so good! Highly recommend!

Google
I ordered a chopped beef burrito and was pleased with the taste but felt it was really just mostly dirty rice with a smidge of meat, a tiny schmear of guac and sour cream. Not entirely happy with it, although the taste was ok and it filled my belly just fine. I ordered a slice of their pecan pie and honestly that was the highlight of my day. It is 11:30 in the morning though, so I have a long way to go!! I loved the atmosphere, regardless of what other reviewers have said about the torn booths, chipped paint, etc….this is a BBQ joint people. The floors were clean, the condiments, utensils, etc were all en pointe, as was the country music. I’d come back but ask for an actual amount of protein to be included in my ten dollar burrito. I have to believe there was less than 2 ounces if that of beef in this but oh well. On the road I go, and I’d recommend this place on taste alone. Oh and the service was great. I was going to upgrade to brisket but she said save the upcharge and just get the chopped beef “ it’s the ends of the brisket anyway”. Again, great flavor but just too much rice

Yelp
Really good BBQ. This is pretty much the kind of place you find all over the South: unassuming, relaxed, and delicious. The food comes out fast, it's packed with flavor, and the price isn't unreasonable given the volume of food. I was a particular fan of the brisket and the collard greens, but everything was good. Definitely check this place out if you're in the area.

David L.

Yelp
Winner, winner, porky dinner. The Piggy Party special, with a generous amount of pulled pork, smoked sausage, and 2 rib bones, was really good. I was pressed for time during lunch, but my order was ready as fast as any drive through fast food chain. Ample sides of macaroni and cheese, moist corn bread, and sweet and tangy cucumber salad rounded out this meal that was too much food for one person. Will definitely return and would order this again.

Igor L.

Yelp
Ribs and chicken were okay...chicken was a bit on the dry side. Sides were also just "okay", the Mac and Cheese tasted a lot like the kids cafeteria kind. Also...the inside of the place is seriously very nasty. Floors, tables, walls, bathroom, etc. all seem like they haven't been properly cleaned in years. Makes you think what could possibly be going on in the kitchen... And they sell burritos and sandwiches? Are you a BBQ restaurant? Anyways, ribs were the best part, but even then they were nothing to ride home about. This place needs a serious detox.

Demeka F.

Yelp
I have been here a couple times for take out, and each time I have a pretty good experience. The staff is kind and the order is ready to go within the time communicated, which is good. The food is pretty good. The individual ribs have been meaty and tasty and the smoked chicken wings have also been good and are a nice size - not too small. I read complaints about mice and cleanliness. Hopefully there are no mouse issues and the sauces and kitchen are clean.

Caleb L.

Yelp
Exceptional BBQ especially for this area. I love the combos, definitely try the Memphis style ribs if you like your pork sweet like me! They cook to order well, so be patient because it's BBQ and you'll be met with great service. Standard interior but with a lot of great seating options if you are going solo. The staff are beyond nice here! Be generous to them, I've been coming here for over a decade so it's definitely sentimental to me.

Moy H.

Yelp
Stop by here last week definitely have to get these items beef ribs and Dixie chicken well made flavored and cooked perfect not dry with dirty rice, Mac and cheese and of course corn bread excellent work by all

Robert W.

Yelp
No BBQ sauce available on take out orders. Called general manager Don Warren who said they don't have enough bottles of BBQ sauce for patrons. Spend $500 for no BBQ Sauce. Don't go here for BBQ ever Buck Weaver

Meire G.

Yelp
My husband and I love barbecue and we were hope this place would live up to its name. It didn't. The food was mediocre at best. The hostess was a sweetheart and the place has a nice "barbecue" atmosphere. But we're not coming back here for the food.

Suzanne M.

Yelp
Food was good. Atmosphere is really cute but dang it looked like this place needs a deep clean. Ripped furniture, peeling paint, sticky floors. The girl who took our order did the minimum her job required. If they would take some time to clean up the original shine of this place, it could raise to 5 stars.

Jay M.

Yelp
Ribs are decent... place is tired and all BBC worn seats, floors , disgusting doors etc... needs a full remodel ... hasn't changed from original opening 30 years ago? Need more barbecue choices in area...

Sherry H.

Yelp
They have the best BBQ ribs in town. The cole slaw is not that amazing though. The biscuits are ok. I order just the ribs on Ubereats and make my own sides. The cost is reasonable for what you ordered.

Chip F.

Yelp
I have always enjoyed the food from this place, but I recently ordered two plates to go for my brother and myself that we were not fully happy with. When I contacted them by email, they very promptly offered replacement meals. I brought in my receipt from the original order just to prove that I wasn't just trying to get free meals and the lovely, amazingly helpful woman at the register noticed that, when I told her that I wanted to take up the offer of the two replacement plates of baby back ribs, my previous receipt listed Memphis ribs. The Memphis ribs are delicious, but they are not as meaty as the baby back ribs and that was my original complaint: the ribs were not as I had remembered. So not only did I get two free meals to replace the meals that I was not fully satisfied with, the woman at the register today helped me understand that the problem was not in the food itself, but in the fact that I was served a different type of rib that I've had originally requested. Unless it was me that requested the wrong type of rib! Either way, the food at this place is great in my opinion. And the ownership is obviously top-notch!

Eva T.

Yelp
The food is amazing and the customer service is great! Came here for Father's Day and we had an amazing feast! Will definitely be back. My fav is the ribs combo plate and the Mac and cheese is delicious as well!

Nicolette K.

Yelp
We ordered the pork and beef ribs, greens, baked beans, cornbread, and cucumber salad. The ribs were good and seasoned, the greens had a nice texture to them as they weren't super soggy or super soft the baked beans were tasty. However what really took the show was the cornbread. The cornbread was moist and tasty wasn't to sweet but want to tart either and was very smooth. It was a hit.

Susan C.

Yelp
We had order of the Pork Special, food was tasty and the portions were decent. We also had an order of Wings, good size, tasty sauce but they needed to be cooked longer as the skin was not at all crispy.

Doni F.

Yelp
Another visit to this casual BBQ place and everything was delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the Natick/Shoppers World area. It's tasty, and I think inexpensive. I had the beef ribs, and my companion enjoyed the beef ribs for the first time. I always order their greens, love the cucumber salad, just about everything they offer is tasty.

George D.

Yelp
Cafeteria style food but helpful & friendly staff! Texas ribs were chewy but sauce was great. Pork ribs very ten

Rebeca G.

Yelp
Food is very flavorful, we've only had it delivered through Grubhub so can't comment on service/ambiance. I love the pulled pork burrito, it's huge! and also delicious. The pork doesn't feel dry, but it comes with dirty rice which is very spicy (for me, can't handle much spice lol). The mac n cheese is also delicious, creamy and cheese. It doesn't taste like KFC's or kraft, it's made from scratch w/o yellow dye and real cheese, or at least tastes like it.

Jewels P.

Yelp
Little joint in a little outward-facing strip mall. Staff is good, prices are good, food is good. Nothing fancy, just good food.

Adam B.

Yelp
This is among the worst BBQ that I've had which didn't come out of a plastic tub at the grocery store. I came in on a Saturday afternoon, so one would think everything would be nice and fresh. In actuality, I got small shreds of BBQ pork literally dripping in grease and clearly scooped out of the bottom of a pan or crockpot where they had been sitting all day. Totally unacceptable for 'real BBQ' ... nothing about this was real, unless you consider it a 'real shame' to the BBQ name. The mac and cheese tasted fresh from the box and pre-made from a powdery mix vs. homemade. There was no melty/drippy cheese. It tasted EXACTLY like Kraft Mac & Cheese from the box, which had been placed under a heat lamp for hours and hours until it dried out. Come on ... a box of mac & cheese is 99 cents at the grocery store and makes 8 portions in the sizes you dish out. How can you serve dry, old mac and cheese to people when making a fresh batch is so cheap? Total laziness. Back to the BBQ ... this was a mushy mess. REAL BBQ (or even somewhat decent BBQ) is moist shreds of pork or brisket. It's hard to keep BBQ from drying out, which is why it's usually made in waves vs. making big batches and kept under heat lamps. They douse their BBQ in BBQ sauce BEFORE it hits the bun so it doesn't dry out when sitting all day. This means you don't get to choose the BBQ sauce ... it's just there. Also, as the meat loses its moisture into this mess of meat and sauce, it begins to fall apart and get greasy. There was no smokey taste. No big pieces to chew ... you could literally suck up the meat in the sandwich with a straw. The bun was a common 99 cent for 8 supermarket bun. It was absolutely evident that no care, home cooking or expertise had gone into the preparation of what they are serving. At one time ... going back at least 10 years ... this place served slightly above mediocre BBQ. There was always a line at the counter. Now it's just going through the motions and almost empty on a weekend lunch. The sauce ... Kraft or Bullseye brand has more flavor. I tried all 3 sauces and they all tasted the same. Sugary ketchup squirted from a big vat. Clearly this shop has called it in and decided to just 'get by' based on location alone as no care goes into the food here. Overly greasy, mass-produced sugary sauce saturated junk is what this is. Sorry but I literally would rather throw $11 away than spend it on what I got here again.

Jeremy A.

Yelp
Soooo tasty! From Georgia and really appreciate this food. The green beans are flavored perfectly. Also love the bbq pork sandwich and ribs! Enjoy.

Richard V.

Yelp
Great food. Excellent taste. Sufficient portions. BBQ the way it should be served. I only wish I didn't have to travel 90 minutes to get some but I do and I will continue to do so. Get your grub on. You won't regret it

Big N.

Yelp
Another great meal here ! Staff is always friendly , great vibe here! The lady at the cash register us always smiling , the presentation of the food was done with care no sloppy look kudos to the cook just look at the pic, clean place also thanks!

Jayne R.

Yelp
Casual restaurant with great food (sorry n picture). The great smoky aroma had my mouth watering when I walked in and I wolfed beef brisket and jambalaya down! Definitely on par with Stubb's and Voodoo!!

Jim S.

Yelp
This place has some tasty food. I ain't cappin' the pulled pork burrito is actually delicious. The 2 star review is cuz of customer service. there is an old girl behind the counter i think her name is Nancy Simpson or something but she is externally rude to me and my boyfriend. Like i said good food but bad customer service.

Gale S.

Yelp
Good lil homie spot. Been here a few times. Usually solid every single time! Get the north carolina pulled pork. Its like a randy johnson fastball coming right down the gullet. Mashed potatos are just fuckin eh' . They are quick with the orders, great lunch spot. Definitely would return.

John H.

Yelp
From first step inside can smell the BBQ. Decent size portions, the price is a little high (this the 4 stars) else would have been 5 stars if it was more economical. For those who would like to taste how bbq is done well worth a try.

Reid F.

Yelp
They do a really nice job getting you good food quickly. The ribs and wings are great, as is the cucumber salad and the corn on the cob. Overall, it's a good local BBQ.

Eric D.

Yelp
I was impressed with the extremely fast service and getting the time of getting the food. It's faster then McDonald's. I opted for the North Carolina pulled pork sandwich. Meat was moist and loads of flavor. Those who aren't familiar with the North Carolina flavor, it consist of vinegar to give the tangy flavor to the meat. Mac and cheese was pretty good too. Love the fact that you can wash your hands conveniently in the sink in the dining area. Cheers

Mark V.

Yelp
I have been eating at this place for years as it is consistently great. Their best options are baby back ribs, pulled pork and the chicken. The side sausage is also great along with the mac&cheese and smashed potatoes. If they have pecan pie in the fridge, get it. So good.

Skye G.

Yelp
Need a great fast lunch, this is a good place to stop. I've also ordered catering from them for company meals. Everyone loves it and the people are great to work with. They packaged up my order well in large pans and had different extra sauces on the side. The brisket is tender and full of flavor. Mac and Cheese is always a favorite side too. This is a nice alternative to going out for a holiday meal...bring it in and relax!

Crag T.

Yelp
Great BBQ. Friendly folks. Have taken out, dined in and used several times for catering. Never disappointed.

Bee T.

Yelp
Brisket barely warm. Pulled pork was just ok. Go to five guy next door they have better meat.

Patrick B.

Yelp
This has been a review that has taken several visits to take into account. I am a creature of habit and I rarely go off my beaten path. I usually get the St. Louis spareribs, bbq chicken wings. The problem I have usually is that the ribs are dry, overly sauced but for the most part , meatier than baby back ribs. This visit I got the baby back ribs and the "hot" chicken wings. Surprisingly, the ribs were perfectly sauce with enough bbq sauce on them! The hot wings were equally delicious. Knowing this , I maybe inclined to get the Baby back ribs instead if the St. Louis ribs! The prices are quite good (much cheaper if you did buy the items at the store, but hey I'm lazy!) I go here quite often, so they will not lose me as a customer. They do not offer online ordering but they do use Grubhub an

Andrew B.

Yelp
This is among the most disappointing restaurant experiences I've had recently. Wildly expensive, regardless of what you get. I got the two meat combo for $21 with brisket. Pulled pork was tasteless and generic. Not unexpected for likely microwaved pulled pork. Brisket was the real dealbreaker. Just absolutely terrible. Rubbery, unseasoned, no smoke ring or flavor. May as well have been baked. I've been meaning to review for a while. I'm not necessarily a BBQ snob, but this was just shockingly bad compared to so many other generic BBQ spots in the Boston area.

Jessica h.

Yelp
This place is hands down the best BBQ place. Staff is very friendly, food is consistently awesome. Memphis ribs, cucumber salad and their beans are a must try. Oddly one of the best burritos I've had here too with jerk chicken. None-the-less, my in-laws make it a must when they come visit. Highly recommend.

Kathleen S.

Yelp
Gave a '1' rating because '0' was not allowed. I requested a pound of barbecue sliced brisket and received a pound of oven cooked tough, tasteless brisket. The meat did not look charred or barbecued at all. The only reason I did not returned - I did not inspect it until I was miles away. I will not be a returning customer.

Michelle C.

Yelp
Browsing this place on Yelp In search of dinner and the burrito was calling my name. Could this be a new take out staple?! Perhaps! The burrito was really tasty. I like the spicy chicken (add cheese). Who knew!? Been living near by for years and didn't know what I was missing! The evil two sides combo made me pig out with Mac and cheese AND mashed potatoes, oink. Important to get it when fresh cause obviously fresh tastes so much better. The gravy was disappointing.

I M.

Yelp
Not a lousy BBQ for the North. Kids didn't like it, but they are used to the real Texas deal.

Pat F.

Yelp
I stopped by recently and picked up some Memphis ribs to take home with me. The ribs were plump, tender, flavorful; definitely a great treat. Excellent service, I just wish I could have left a tip; but I had no change with me. Highly recommended.

E K.

Yelp
Great for take out for large groups. Everyone loves their ribs, pulled pork, and cucumber salad. Always super efficient.

Ann S.

Yelp
We enjoyed the ribs, took a combo of 3 different types, the pork ones were the best, but beef is absolutely great too. The lady working there was really nice and helpful. Draft beer was fresh, they literally brought a new can for us from the fridge: and I fall in love with the cucumber salad )

Chris O.

Yelp
@tennesseesbbq. Savory pulled pork sandwich on a sesame. Flavorful, tangy, and spicy cajun chicken burrito with guacamole, sour cream, and rice. The place is tiny, but intimate. It's never busy, which is a good thing. Southern cooking done very well!

Brian S.

Yelp
Tough to find real southern style BBQ in Mass that tastes this good. I suppose that would be why it is on the Pricey side but it's no doubt worth it. After you spend 10 minutes looking at all the different options on the menu, you place your order at the desk and it's ready within minutes. I got a pulled pork sandwich and some hot wings. The wings had such a unique flavor of spicy and smokey. Bottom line is this: if you are ever in the area and plan on going to Framingham Beer Works, don't because that place is absolute garbage and Tennessee's is right across the street.

Natalia G.

Yelp
Ordered pulled pork, N. Carolina style, baked beans, green beans, and mac & cheese. The pulled pork came over a piece of bread (y tho??) was SO salty took one bite before giving up. I'm from the south, this ain't sis. mac & cheese was probably the best thing on the plate and even that was only a step above kraft. baked beans were anything but. Was not expecting much and was still disappointed. You can't have real bbq "real fast" that defeats the purpose. If they revise their recipes and mode of cooking, they could perhaps be worth your while but it's a hard pass for me. I'll just stick to the real stuff when I visit family below the mason-dixon line.

Elena R.

Yelp
Stopped here for the first time while in the area, got the Memphis ribs and pulled pork; everything was awesome! The ribs were delicious, pulled pork was awesome and the corn bread was perfect! Mac and cheese was good, a little less cheesy-gooey but the taste was good. We also got hot chicken wings which were awesome as well. We live about 35-40 mins away but are already excited about what to try next time we go! Thanks guys!! Also, the sweet bbq sauce was delicious!!

Karen G.

Yelp
I love Tennessee's BBQ. I was waiting at the door the day they opened and has continued to maintain quality through the years while opening multiple new shops. My Dad's family hails from North Carolina right on he Tennessee border and this is the flavor of real BBQ to me. Large cuts have that pink smoke ring and tender fall off the bone texture. Add the sauce you like, the way you like. The sides have that small batch homemade quality. Get it to take home or eat in. catering? Yes please, they do it all and they do it well. Prices are on par with quality. Portions are generous. I love the combo plates but you know me, nothing beats a sandwich , their pulled pork sandwich with Carolina sauce is heaven on a bun!

Ant M.

Yelp
Been awhile since I last tried the bbq here, unfortunately the quality is not what it once was. The sides were small, the mashed potatoes were cold. The pulled pork was ok. With the high prices, I would like a better bag for the buck.
