I visited Tenya at ION Orchard recently and had a generally pleasant dining experience, with one major issue that affected my comfort—the air-conditioning was uncomfortably warm.
Food Quality:
As expected from this renowned Japanese tendon chain, the food was excellent. I ordered the Seafood Tendon, which was fresh, crispy, and flavorful. The batter was light, and the portion was generous for the price. My friend enjoyed the Tori Tendon, and we both loved the Mentai Fries and Hiroshima Oyster Tempura as side dishes. No complaints on the food quality.
Service & Ambience:
The staff were polite and efficient, and the ordering system was user-friendly. However, the dining area was very warm and stuffy—the air-conditioning did not seem to be functioning well. It made the experience uncomfortable, especially since tempura is a hot dish. Given Singapore's humid weather, proper air-conditioning is crucial for a pleasant meal.
Value for Money:
Food prices are very reasonable, and the portions are satisfying. It's a great place for casual Japanese dining in Orchard.
Final Thoughts:
While the food and service were great, I sincerely hope management looks into improving the air-conditioning at this outlet. It detracts from an otherwise enjoyable meal. I’d still recommend Tenya for its quality food, but would advise others to dine during non-peak hours when it's hopefully cooler.
Rating: 3.5/5 (Would be 4.5 if the air-conditioning was better)
