This is located in Epcot at Walt Disney World. It is in the Japan pavilion sort of in the middle, next to America. This pavilion has three restaurants all together and this one is upstairs. It is going to be family seating, meaning 8-10 at a table and you will be seated with other people. The atmosphere is lots of tables in a row all in little room sections. It is very standard Teppanyaki restaurant. The walls have lots of decorations and paintings which does bring authenticity to the restaurant as well.
I have been coming here since I was a child. My husband and I went a little while ago and I honestly was not impressed. I love this type of food and I love the Teppan experience with the chef. This just lacks and years ago was so much better than it is now. Everything is cooked right in front of you. This is the best part! It's so fun, please interact and don't just sit there and stare. It makes for a better experience.
My husband and I have tried to come back a couple times in the last few years. One time, it was not even an authentic chef, our chef was from Texas and discussed Texas the entire time. I look for the authentic and opportunity to interact with different cultures. So, I really missed that.
The service is always fantastic, the servers really take great care of you, refilling drinks, explaining options if asked. They are very very nice. Their menu includes appetizers, sushi and entrees along with alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Your entree includes vegetables, udon noodles and rice and starts with a garden salad. There is also a variety of sauces to dip your food in. Entrees includes chicken, steak, seafood and combinations. I usually get steak and shrimp.
The food is fine, it tastes good, its seasoned and cooked to order so everything is piping hot. My issue is over the years, the portions have gotten smaller and smaller, and the prices have gone higher and higher. Lunch and dinner are the same, so it doesn't matter when you go. It's the same price. But $44 dollars for steak and shrimp, I literally got 3 shrimp cut in half to make "6" and probably about 4-5 ounces of steak. The vegetables are mixed with udon noodles which is also very little.
I absolutely love this type of food, I just can't justify the price when I can go down the street outside Disney to Kobe's for the same food but more, and less price. If you cannot go outside the parks, try it out. Will you have a good meal, yes, will you pay a lot, yes, will you still be hungry, you might. It's good but it can be better. It has progressively changed over the years for the worse and I wish it would go back to the old ways.
