Service and food both were great. Excellent drinks and they were very accommodating for a large group! I loved the live band which was the perfect ambiance for our birthday celebration! I'll definitely be back you should give them a try! Please keep in mind they have different menus for each night

Let's start by being very clear - this blue agave is a sapphire gem. I loved it here. So here it goes, everyone here is celebrating something. Birthdays, engagements, bachelor parties, bachelorette parties, bat mitzvahs you name it. Put your name and song on a paper with a tip and watch the magic. There is a little bit for everyone here and that energy feels good. The menu is super dope. I ordered the mini medicine ball looking deliciousness aka the pretzel appetizer and YUM! I would love to come back here with friends to enjoy some everybody type good vibes and music.

The people there is what makes it nice. The music is for the people born in 1968's or slightly earlier. Lol For the owner I recommend hipper music. Not gunna lie blacker music. It's a nice ambiance, the drink service was good, we got th drinks fast, they really like to fill you ice to the brim tho so make sure u ask for lighter ice. Security was nice overall we had a great night! And it was the most packed club in the block! Definitely will come back

I would highly recommend Tequila Blue to anyone looking to host a great event. I was overly impressed by the entire staff of Tequila Blue for making a recent event held at this venue so memorable. From the initial planning phases, Megan, our event coordinator, was incredibly accommodating. She went above and beyond to ensure our vision was met and every detail was taken care of. For the menu, there were a variety of options to choose from and customize. The staff created a beautiful charcuterie tray and plentiful slider bar that our guests loved. I couldn't be happier with how everything turned out and encourage others who are looking to host an exciting event to work with the Tequila Blue team. Again, I want to sincerely thank Megan, Aaron, and the entire staff for making our event special. We will be back!

Great place to drink, dance, socialize and have fun with friends. Service and security are always on point!

$20 for two quarter filled green tea shots along with some crappy music you can't even dance to in the upstairs nightclub. Enjoy getting hit on by creepy ugly guys? Enjoy overpaying for drinks and getting nothing? Enjoy paying a $5-$10 cover depending on if the bouncer likes you or not? This is the place for you. Did not have fun here and came on a Saturday night. Very disappointed and wish it was as fun as it looked.

5 stars for music and table service! 1 for the bar, paid $120 for shots/mixed drinks that had little to no alcohol.

I just went to Tequila Blue last night for the first time and I had a great time. The music was pretty good and the DJ was funny! The security guards were very observant of what was going on and they were also very friendly, especially Moe. The drinks were good and the bartenders were very entertaining to watch make drinks. I would definitely recommend Tequila Blue if you are interested in clubbing.

*This review is only based on the club upstairs. I went to the piano bar years ago and had a nice experience but after the club experience, I just don't know if I want to bother going back. - $5 cover after 9pm is annoying AF. I don't remember the last time I paid a cover. - The floors were sooooooo sticky! Yikes! It was laugh worthy but if I hadn't been there for a bachelorette party, I would have easily left before drinks and dancing because it was just disgustingly sticky. It's 2019. There are plenty of cleaners to get that stuff up. Come on - Bartenders were fine. Drinks were fine. Nothing worth writing home about. - Two stars instead of one because I enjoyed most, not all, of the music as it was a good blend of current and old school styles. I was amused at the music videos playing! Ha! Will I be back? Nah, probably not. Especially not anytime soon.. It's in the ever so popular Royal Oak, with so many other options to choose from for a good time.

Our company had an event planned at another venue and that venue cancelled with a NINE DAY notice. We scrambled to find another place that could hold more than 100 people, feed us good appetizers and drinks, work within our budget - and that place turned out to be Tequila Blue. From our first discussion, to the tour and throughout the entire process, they worked with us to iron out details in a remarkably short period of time. My only suggestion? The ability to get more than one channel on the TVs upstairs - not a big deal though! Thank you to Megan for helping us to organize, to Charles for taking very good care of us during the event, to Lindsay and all the other bartenders/servers I did not get to meet personally but I saw you doing a great job. Tequila Blue definitely stays on our short list of places for corporate events.

Second time coming here thought I would give it another chance, but it still sucks. The only ok thing is that there's alcohol. The music absolutely sucks. Every sound is a remix and very hard to dance to. I will not be returning. Although the piano bar is cool, had to wait over an hour past my reservation time.

I love this place. I like to go to Tequila Blue every so often for girls nights out and it is a group favorite of ours for bachelorette and birthday party's. The service is great and the djs are always on point. They participate in all the Royal Oak bar crawls and is always our last stop. I. Love. This. Bar.

Had the chicken fajita, went with a few friends for a night out and hit the piano bar afterwards. My friends all had the chicken tinga, steak, Baja fish and pastor tacos. All of my friends liked their tacos well enough and my fajita was okay as well and perfectly grilled and cooked, but the fajita seasoning was average, not special. I might come back again to try their vegan tacos and their impossible burger next time.

The staff inappropriately touched me in response to an underage male who spilled their drink on us. I believe we got kicked out so we wouldn't report the bar.

The bartenders are really bad at the upstairs club area. I haven't seen this many rude bartenders in my life. This guy Aaron in specific wanted to start a fight almost with any customer who wanted a drink. Management knew about his attitude but decided to do nothing about it which encouraged this bartender to become even ruder.

So maybe I'm the minority here but I have gone to tequilla blue a few times now and I always have a good time!! The music is more pop/rap so if you prefer rock music or house then you probably should avoid this club (I hate house music and don't like rock music so the music here works for me personally). The drinks are like any other place and the crowd here is diverse which I enjoy. I am confused though because I was told after halloween that this club was closing but yet I was just here again last weekend and it was open as it's always been?? So I'm assuming that tequilla blue is staying open for the time being.

Bar tender raged and through glass at us. Ruined our whole night and kicked us out for no reason. Owner didn't have the decency to talk to us. Never coming back ever again!

This place has some of the worst employees I've seen, the "security" thinks they are cops and likes to pick and choose who goes in finding humor out of it, I drove 40 minutes for a my friends birthday that was there and we had his own booth rented out already, and most of friends were inside already too, so I had already spent money on this place, right when we get there the entrance was packed and there were about 6 guys wearing "gym clothes" looking like trashy douchebags but they were all allowed in no problem so I didn't think twice about it, then everyone cleared out and it was just two of my friends and I in the entrance trying to pay then as I'm trying to pay one guys grabs my pants and pulls me towards him weirdly and says "we don't allow sweatpants" thinking they are joking because for one I was allowed in with sweatpants on a week before that and all the "gym bros" wearing sweaty clothes were allowed in no problem and two I wasn't even wearing sweatpants and I tried to tell and show them but they were all too ignorant to realize they are wrong so then they all start jumping on that "joke" and wouldn't allow me in because "I looked trashy and there are trashy bars I can go to with nasty girls down the street" and to me that's pretty weird for a 50 year old to be talking like that about younger girls, so I leave call my friends inside and told them I wouldn't be allowed in so they decided to leave and go with us so I call and try to cancel everything I set up for his birthday because he was leaving but they wouldn't allow me to cancel the booth the the sign the drinks nothing because "I wasn't present" and I needed to be there in order to cancel, I never heard something like that in my life, so at this point I'm like forget it just stay there and spend the money so about an hour later my friends call and say they kicked them out of the booth and put someone into it right away and they were supposed to have the booth all night, so I thought maybe they cancelled everything then, ... no they charged me for the entire night for drinks that they didn't order the sign that wasn't even used and the booth that they were kicked out of so I got scammed out of time and money from this horrendous place, so I will be contacting my lawyer about this scam of a place and taking them to court over this whole situation, definitely do not come to this place unless you like getting scammed

This place blows. Terrible music, terrible people. Head down the street and find a better place

I was initially surprised by the low rating here, but I can understand why. I am only giving it 2 stars because the bartender was so sweet and went above and beyond to make sure that we were all satisfied with our drinks. As soon as we walked in he recognized one of my friends and we all became bestfriends! He made us a surprise shot to start off the night. We ended up ordering, unfortunately the frozen drinks were unavailable to order. He gave me a strawberry drink that just tasted like artificial strawberry, the medicine kind. My friend and I didn't like it. He said that he'd make me something else and walked away. He brought me a peach drink with coconut. The peach was good, but the coconut aftertaste was strong and I'm not a fan of coconut. He knew that I disliked it and brought me a moscow mule because I wanted to play it safe. It was not good, I love mules and it was just all ginger. I told him that and instead of adding something for flavor he just adds more alcohol and then it was all alcohol. I literally didn't even want a drink. My friend tried it and said it was so gross. He left again when I told him that I didn't want anything. He then brought me a raspberry white claw. I don't like white claws and it tasted like water. Then he brought me a mango lemonade truly!!!! I genuinely did not want anything and he should've stopped after the first 2, but he was so nice. The truly was fine, I've had it before and liked it. I didn't drink much of it, just a few sips. I really appreciated his effort, I thought that it was so nice that he was dedicated to finding something I liked. I do wish that he had just asked me what I liked from the start. I did really like the bartender, but I would not be back. The alcohol was cheap and gross. I'd rather go elsewhere and pay a bit more for a cocktail that I actually enjoy. I do recommend it if you just want cheap drinks somewhere. I also heard that the upstairs is really fun!

Normally a very fun location, but when they are participating in a bar crawl they kicked all the patrons out early. It is absurd to include yourself as a bar crawl location and then to kick all paying participants out of your location. I am very disappointed with this facility. Will not be returning.

It's 2022 and not only does this place still charge cover like they're in a college town, but they charge the guys double to get in. Over priced, over crowded, and not at all worth it.

I liked that this place actually had a decent sized dance floor with a pretty good dj. It was a good mix of club/bar. I would probably come back another weekend.

I used to love this place a couple years ago but now I'm not sure what I was thinking. Overcrowded with scantily clad girls, and guys wearing kahki shorts, and muscle tanks, all of which look like they just turned 21. Baby prostitutes are half naked and dancing like strippers, and young guys are walking around salivating and trying to attempt what sort of resembles break dancing or popping and locking to impress them, but not really sure what they were doing, could have been a seizure, hard to say. So depending on what you are looking for, this might be the spot for you but not what I was looking for or remember it being like a couple years ago. They used to have a more diverse crowd, and it wasn't so crowded that you couldn't move to dance. Now the scene reminds me of the "bros and hos" scenario down at Fifth Ave. Maybe it was just a bad night. It was a hot Friday night in July, during the peak of summer which may explain the crowdedness. I used to come with a large group of friends, guys and girls, and we mostly danced with eachother so that may be the difference too. If you come here, I'd definitely suggest coming with a group of friends. It used to be fun for pub crawls and birthdays. I also think that it's better to come here earlier and start your night here dancing because it gets too crowded later and the crowd gets more obnoxious later in the night. This past week, I came around 11:00 with one other friend after a friend's birthday at the dueling piano bar upstairs and it was overcrowded with obnoxious overly drunk patrons. You couldn't move to dance because it was bumper to bumper people and the floors were super sticky from people spilling their drinks. My friend had three separate people spill their beers down her dress in the massive crowd. We finally ended up leaving. What I remember liking a few years back, is they played good danceable music, mostly hip hop, some top 40, not really any EDM. I like EDM but it can be harder to dance to if it's the only thing they are playing all night. They play, Bruno Mars, Lil Dicky, Fetty Wap, the wobble and the like. They play music videos on tv screens throughout the bar. They have a long dance floor with a dj near the front and a tiki bar to the left which gets super crowded with people. They used to have frozen margaritas which were really good but they no longer have the frozen margarita machine. Drinks were decent but kind of expensive depending on what you order. A margarita and a shot of tequila on the side was only $10 but a Moscow Mule and a shot of something else was $15. I think the bartender must have used top shelf in the Moscow Mule order without asking for a preference. They have some booths and seating when you first go up the stairs from the piano bar, but this time they had it closed off and were using it as a "VIP" section which seems pretty weird for this bar. They charge a $5 cover at the door after around 9:00, but ladies are free cover on Friday nights. I used to think that this and Craft or Commune in the basement of Bastone were the only places worth dancing in Royal Oak but now it's not much better than Fifth. I still have great memories of this place, and anything is better than Fifth Ave so I'd give them another shot but it wouldn't be my first choice and if I did come here, it would definitely be earlier around 9 or 10. If I'm in Royal Oak, I'd probably go to Craft first but its Royal Oak so the drunken crowded immature debauchery is probably all you can really expect anywhere here.

Would completely agree with the comments on racist behavior from security. My friends and I came here pre-pandemic and waited in line for quite awhile before getting to the door. Our whole party was allowed in except our black friend who was denied because of his "work boots" aka timberlands. We pointed out that others in our party had the same shoes and were admitted as well as caucasian men inside that were wearing hoodies, ripped jeans, etc. We agreed that if he couldn't get in we'd all leave and were told that we couldn't get our cover charge back that we had just paid 2 minutes prior. After much hassle we managed to get some back but I am absolutely disgusted by the racism that occurred here.

RACIST ESTABLISHMENT! Management profiles who can enter based on race. We came in to celebrate a friends' birthday party, with a guest of 14, but they denied us because one of our male guest is wearing Abercrombie rip jeans, everything else that he was wearing is formal dress code. Minutes later they let people in with this white guy wearing a hoodie and sweat pants. I confronted the bouncer about it and he just insisted that he's following the dress code. I guess their dress code is to be white and be wearing gym attire. We felt that we were discriminated because most of us were asians. We were about to drop hundreds of dollars for drinks, but our race wasnt worth the business for them. Don't come and don't support this types of places. The other bad reviews here really shows what type of business they are.

Watch out reviewing them. The owner changes responses and doesn't address concerns in a professional manner. The bartender and piano players were great, but the rest of the establishment is sub-par. We made a reservation on Open Table for an actual table, but the bouncer was the one seating people and stuck us at the bar. Additionally, you have to pay $10 cover no matter what - even if you have a reservation. On top of that, you're served drinks in plastic cups and given plastic silverware to eat your meal with. The bar also didn't have any fruit, so forget about a lime with your gin and tonic or shot of tequila. For a place that charges $10 per person just to set foot in the establishment, the least they could do is give you actually cutlery to eat with. Stay away from here and go to the better places just down the street. I would suggest Bar Louie or Mesa.

I wouldn't even give them one star. Horrible service and bar tenders. I asked for three large waters with lemon (my friend just asked for one) and she started making them in the small cup. So politely (and I truly mean politely) asked can I please have it in this larger cup she ignored me and mumbled something about paying for it...? When she handed me 3ounce waters then I asked for Lemon..again...and she put her hand up and said you're all set. Another bartender followed behind her and asked if I needed anything so I asked for lemon lol and gave it to me no questions asked. Just curious how an establishment serving alcohol doesn't serve water when ordered and/or gives insulting attitude when it is ordered. ***And for the record we just ordered 8 shots and 8 drinks, so for someone to not serve us water I think it's pathetic. ***

The rating is for the club, never ate here. Just came here Saturday night, after a 3 year hiatus. It is just as gross as I remember it. Sticky floors, stupidly drunk college kids, sucky music and overcrowded place. $5 parking and $5 cover. I should have saved my money for anything but. This place is a fail. Don't do it.

My GF and I came here the day after Cinco de Mayo. We had these wonderful little barbacoa and chicken tinga tacos. Twice. We ended up staying a while longer than planned and had to have a second round of eats - which also included the ceviche. Tasted like Spring by the sea. Try it. Why did we stay so long? The margaritas were that good. I could not say no to another. Best house margarita I've ever had. That and the live band was the Reefer Men. Cool 4 man band that clearly were having as much fun as anyone. Watch the drummer and the guy on bass. They are contagious (in a good way). We'll be visiting here again soon.

I went here shortly after turning 21 and had a blast! The music was great and dancing was extremely fun! There is a large dance floor and large bar upstairs. The bartender's were great and each gave a specialty shot on the house for my birthday. I would definitely return and recommend to friends. It's in a very good location and very intriguing decor. Only complaint is that my friends and I were unaware of any dress code and they gave my friend a hard time getting in when he was wearing joggers because they said he needed to be dressed nicer. Overall had a great experience.

BEWARE: management will overcharge your tab! They overcharged my card by $6 and then refused to answer my phone calls or return the messages I left. I will never be going back to this dump. The door staff were very rude when I asked about free cover for ladies on Friday night. Which was really strange, since I asked politely, I didn't think that it would inspire such a negative, nasty response. Anyways, I hope they train the door people to better handle questions that the customers have. Other than that I like the music and drinks that the establishment supplies.

We went on a Thursday night, and the food was good, and the crowds were light. That may be the main reason why it was enjoyable for us as compared to some of the other reviews we have read here. The food was very similar to the other two Mexican restaurants in Royal Oak,... a TEX MEX mix, rather than authentic Mexican. Still, we would go back on another Thursday.

What a joke. Went on Mother's Day. Not my call. The brunch buffet was a disaster. Food was stone cold on the buffet but the quality was dismal anyways. We had a reservation and I asked to go to the "quieter" upstairs only to find yet another pair of dueling pianos. Argggh. Have a space for folks that don't want the music in their face. Got upstairs and no one was available to greet and seat us to the table we were told they cleared for us. So we sat ourselves. After complaining about the cold buffet the manager brought us food directly from the kitchen. Which meant warmer bad food. Yay. They have no clue what they are doing and need to upgrade their food quality.

we went there as a group of 12 since we were bar hopping for a bachelor's party. the bouncer asked couple of us to stop and mentioned that the torn pair of jeans we were wearing are not ""Businness Casual" enough so we cannot enter. The Jeans had 2 quarter size torns on them. But the bouncer was adamantly sure about the policy. Mind you, out of the 12 people few of us were Asians. for Some apparent reasons, over-flowing cleavage and super-short skirts were perfectly OKAY for the "policy". The whole situation screamed RACIAL DISCRIMINATION. Would not recommend going there. Accidentally, if you stumble upon the same street, Go the MORRIE's Across the street with amazing Live music and spectacular atmosphere....

Let's go for a tequila tasting. What place in town has a good selection of tequila? We heard Tequila Blue has 120 tequilas, so we figured that would be the place to go. Thus, a bad decision was born. Tequila Blue is the Mexican restaurant above the dueling pianos bar. When you get upstairs you're greeted by what looks like tiki huts, Mexican posters plastered all over, and about a dozen flat screens (maybe more). Needless to say, the environs were not exactly pleasing. Kitschy is often used to describe tacky places that are somehow endearing. So this place is tacky, not kitschy. That's okay, we're really here for the tequila. I wanted to taste the spirit without immediately wanting to spit it back out. They did get the job done, but only because we had a particular tequila in mind to try. With 120 tequilas I had expected to see a list, or at least have the bartender be familiar with their offerings. Not one of the three bartenders knew anything at all about the tequila. When I say nothing, I really mean not a thing. We were notified that at some point there probably would be a list, but for a place named after, and well stocked with, tequila, you'd think the staff would be educated. As for the food... I only tried the ceviche and tortilla chips. I really love ceviche and until now have never had a ceviche dish I didn't like. This one had a peculiar taste to it that I couldn't put my finger on, but it tasted artificial. Two bites and I couldn't eat anymore. If you're interested in tasting tequila and don't mind putting your google app to use, this is probably one of the only places I can think of to go to that "specializes" in tequila. Also, at 10:30 they turn it into more of a club, so if that's your thing.....

I am so shocked at the horrible reviews this place has! I can't speak to the food, only the club but I had a really good time. I came here on Saturday with a group of ten girls with a bachelorette party (there were seven other bachelorette parties). We were originally planning on going to the patio bar but it was packed when we arrived so we went upstairs. When we got upstairs there was no one dancing so we just all started having a good time and within 15 minutes the whole place was dancing. The drinks/shots were good, the service was good and the music they played was exactly what we were looking for. As the night went on the crowd did get a little young and "trashy" if that is the correct word. At that time we decided to leave but until then all my friends and I were having a great time!

I came here with some friends for the night before Thanksgiving. For one of the biggest bar nights of the year, I was impressed with the way the bar staff handled its crowd -- and crowded it was. I had drinks bought for me, so I'm not sure how expensive they were, but I am assuming fairly reasonable, and the Thanksgiving cover was $5 per person. I'd likely go back on a calmer night, but it was a good time while it lasted.

We came here with a 20+ person group and management refused to split the check. The food was very lacking, drinks were empty most of the night. In other words dont bother.

Went here after DQ bingo...friend that called here earlier in the day wasn't told that there would be $5 cover - just to go in and eat. when we argued about that, they said 'ok your group of 12 can just pay $25 total...when half the group said we'll just leave...then we got in free. Ordered dinner, roasted turkey flatbread pizza and the all meat pizza came out instead. I was told 'we have to remake it since they read the order wrong'- asked to have it taken off bill- waitress said the mgr would have to decide. No apology...'manager ' came over but pretty sure it was the bouncer. Still no apology Hair found in another friend 's salad...steak tips on another order were well done to leather instead of medium... We did get the flatbread and hairy salad taken off bill Don't come here!!

Lost my purse, phone, and wallet on a Friday night there...Thought they would be gone forever but the staff found it and kept it safe! The manager returned it the next day and even offered a drink on the house. Great place and great staff! Thanks tequila blue :)

I wish I could rate this ZERO stars! I wanted to write you regarding my first (and last) visit to your establishment on Friday evening. I can honestly say, I have never been treated that poorly from any business in my life and I am 32 years old. On Friday evening, not very late into my night, I was at your bar and saw a few female bartenders busy helping other people around the bar. There was a male bartender standing there and (from my previous knowledge of bars) there are sometimes a "bar back" who doesn't serve drinks. Since the females were busy, at a seemed to be crowded bar, I simply leaned over to the man to ask "Are you a bartender?" Simple question I thought. He replied with a scowl on his face, sarcastically "No, I'm just standing back here for no reason". I was very taken back by his tone of voice with me and fumbled over what to order because he was VERY rude. He did not say it in a joking manner but basically implied my question was the dumbest thing he had ever heard. The friend who I was with was shocked as well and couldn't believe how he spoke to me. Now, unfortunately that's not the end of it. I then met up with some friends and a girl friend of mine asked me to accompany her in the bathroom. On the way in a man swung the door open and YELLED at us what we couldn't take our drinks in the bathroom. I quickly complied with him, even though I have never heard of such a rule. I simply laughed and said "sorry, I have never been here before". He wouldn't even make eye contact with me and yelled at me to keep going and pointed to where I should set my drink. As a female, I do not feel I should leave my drink unattended! Especially under the watch of such a rude man. I understand some people are drinking too much and can be careless but I was not this person and if he took a moment to realize my character he would have known that and could have handled the situation much better than he did. I decided to wait for my friend because I didn't feel comfortable leaving our drinks alone. Adding to that, all she had was a water-- not even an alcoholic drink. When she came out I was telling her how I was treated by the bar tender and I couldn't believe what was going on. The man by the bathroom overheard my conversation and decided to butt in by SCREAMING at me "if you don't like it, you can get the fuck out!" I told him to calm down and I wasn't even speaking to him and he further screamed at me "I don't care, if you don't like it-- then GET THE FUCK OUT!" I don't know who manages this business, but I have to say, working in customer service that would NEVER be acceptable. I don't care if I was drunk out of my mind, had only one drink, or sober. No one should ever be treated that way when spending money in any business. I don't expect a response from this, seen as how this establishment is run. I do, however, want you to take a look at how things could have been handled differently for someone who has never been to your bar before. I have been to many Royal Oak bars in the past and will patron many in the future, yours not being one of them. I will tell this story to anyone I know visiting the city and recommend they never set foot in your bar. I am disappointed with my experience and your staff and hope you can make changes in your future. Unsatisfied One-Time Customer!!

Came here after the piano bar downstairs and it was horrible. We left about 10 minutes after walking up the stairs. Between the horrible music, the kids that looked 18 and the sticky floor, I will not be back again.

First time at Tequila Blue, great service with a knowledgeable waiter(Kyle was great), good food and nice priced drinks. Atmosphere is laid back which is my type of crowd.

We went there for dinner with the family at 7. This was our first (and only time eating here). Was informed at the door by power tripping bouncers that no minors were allowed which isn't true. After some debate they relented that my 15 yr old needed to leave by 9:00. No problem. We were sent upstairs and seated ourselves. The drinks were small and weak, service was snail slow, dinner was completely underwhelming. Pretty pricey for cafeteria quality food. No one finished their meal, we were only eating out of hunger. We had to chase down the waitress and bus boy every time we needed a refill or more of something. We were never checked on not even once. The dueling piano guys were good at playing the piano but really, REALLY horrible singers. They didn't know any of the three requests we had requested (AND tipped to play). Overall a pretty abysmal visit.
