Yelp
You know you're in a big airport when you have to take a shuttle between terminals. It's one of the better terminals I've in. I mean, it's feels like all the terminals at LAX are either being repaired or just blocked off. PDX never has a restaurant open early in the morning and SEA is just the worst airport to get when driving. This terminal has plenty of restaurants and places to get a beer at 0700. There is a kids play area and pet relief station. I'm sure parents are thankful it's not the same place. I don't think there are any vending machines because they are a ton and a half of stalls and stores. I swear I must have walked past 20 coffee shops to get to my gate from where the shuttle dropped me off. Overall five stars. Large variety of different seating areas. Plenty of outlets along the seats. And of course, who doesn't want a beer at 0700? M

Yelp
I know it is brand new and shiny, but I'm not a big fan, and it is hard to explain why. There is a lot of automation at the terminal, you can move through the various automatic gates with the help of your boarding pass. Sitting is okay, but if you prefer to sit and do some work as you can at terminal C, your options are very limited. Also note that food prices are simply obscene. I wanted to have breakfast at some sit down place, and just plain omelette there was $21, and this is before coffee, tax, tip, and god forbid you will decide to add a side. I get it, we have no choice of terminal when we travel, but at least you should be prepared.

Yelp
Finally got to try out Terminal A. What an improvement! Brightly lit, future forward design, and tons of restaurants and comfortable seating around the restaurants. I think they could do better with the accessibility of the place. There has to be a medium between wheelchair assistance, hoping a golf cart comes by, or praying for a close gate. My mama is getting older and a walk to the outer reaches of the planet AKA gates 118+ is a challenge. They need one of those people mover jawns. Security gates overall are much improved. Folks' attitudes could be better of course but that's just part of the experience I guess :/

Yelp
We arrived at Terminal A on Monday morning for our return flight from Charlotte. The terminal still kept its new and fresh look from the recent renovation. Lots of passengers were in the gates. Most restaurants and shops were open. Our luggage arrived at carousel with 10 minutes of arriving at baggage claim. The traffic wasn't crazy at the exit, our uber made it to pick up zone within few minutes. The waiting booths had heat on, that was very convenient for passengers waiting for their ride.

Yelp
Recently visited Terminal A 2 days in a row while traveling for a burial! For me, it's the best of the 3 terminals at Newark. I find the bathrooms are on the small side. Plenty of choices for places to eat, with the usual high airport prices! I'll be passing through again in 6 days!

Yelp
This new Term A is breaking taking! They literally have every you can think off. Lots of seating areas for you to lounge around in. Restaurants, bars, coffee shops and more.

Yelp
After 9 hours off delays in a flight last night could not imagine being more comfortable than in the long wooden lounge chairs at Newark airport. We camped out there for 4 plus hours and with many shops to buy snacks and water we were set for the long night of travel.

Yelp
Beautiful new terminal. Spacious, airy, and lots of sunlight coming through. Good choice of food establishments to pick from, as well as goods.

Yelp
Flew in for work recently... I was impressed with how spacious, clean, and new-looking Terminal A for American Airlines was. Then I learned it was recently renovated. Lots of nice places to grab a bite. There are lounges in this terminal too. Checking back in, the TSA security area is very new and hi-tech, but that tech slowed things down when I was coming through, as there was a lady who put her tote bag in the tray, standing up with many loose, small items in it and when the tray bumped, that bag fell over with many small items going into the wheels below the totes. This stopped everything for 15 mins while they cleaned up her mess and re-calibrated the machine. All the while, this silly lady was complaining about her glasses. If she had enough sense to not use a bag like that or close it in some way she wouldn't have inconvenienced us all. Otherwise - Nice, new terminal... Look forward to using it again soon!

Yelp
Boarding a flight from Newark Liberty Airport and they are so serious about their boarding and checkin process. The airport is sparsely adorned with just enough workers to keep the terminal running. I'm wondering if the work is still on strike because I'm really not feeling the love.

Yelp
These new analogic tsa scanners are the bomb! Pun intended! They are shaped like jet engines and allow me to get thru security super fast. Don't have to take out all my various electronics like a laptop, Nintendo switch, ipad etc. Now, I can probably sleep in a little later instead of coming 4 hours early like an Asian grandpa. All the shops are new, they have beach style chairs, lots of charging stations, and the bathrooms look clean. The charging stations must've been shorted, or only the usb charging ports are working. My laptop can't even charge on the desks.

Yelp
I don't fly out of Newark that often, but during this trip, the new terminal was very noticeable. I usually take NJ transit to get to this airport via the tram. I remember having the option to walk about 10 minutes to get to this terminal or take a shuttle. I opted to walk and check out the newness of everything, including lots of artwork. I didn't have an issue with signage and found my my gate without issue. There are tons of restaurants. I loved that they have small, local, owned small business shops representing NJ. On my return trip home, I didn't see an option for you to walk to the tram. We had to wait a little while for the shuttle bus to take us to the tram. Overall, I love that our airports are trying to catch up and modernize like a lot of international airports have already done.

Yelp
The new Terminal A at Newark Airport is definitely an upgrade in terms of aesthetics--it's clean, bright, and modern. However, navigating inside is a bit of a challenge. The signage is lacking, making it confusing to find your way around, especially if you're in a hurry. Another downside is the self-service luggage tag stations. I'm not a fan of having to check in and print my own luggage tag because the scanners often struggle to read boarding passes from phones. It feels like an unnecessary hassle when the staff at the baggage check could easily handle it instead. Overall, it's a nice terminal, but there's room for improvement in these areas.

Yelp
I had to take off a star for this brand new terminal, because I felt that it lacked guidance and direction. Like, point me towards where I need to go. I get it, the terminal is amazing to look at and be engulfed in LED screens everywhere, but I gotta get to my gate! This terminal is like walking into the future, and by the time the future gets here they will need to build a newer one.

Yelp
A 2.7 billion facelift at Newark Airport Terminal A has earned them the World's Best New Airport Terminal Award by Skytrax. An honor that makes me proud to be a New Jerseyan. This was my first time flying out of this terminal. Flights taking off from here include United, Air Canada, American, JetBlue and Delta. First thing I noticed is the state-of-the-art technology. The serene design and artwork throughout the entire airport helped calmed me before my flight. I always get a bit of anxiety whenever I fly. The TSA line moved quickly and efficiently. There was no yelling. I saw one lady after putting all her stuff into a bin try to push it onto the moving rolling carousel and the TSA agent said...no need to push, it's automatic. As I was walking to my gate, I was loving all the different ergonomic chairs. The flower tree designs put a smile on my face. Two restaurants that caught my eye were Guy Fieri's Flavortown Kitchen & Bar and Burger Fi (a Florida chain). U.S. airports has a lot of catching up to do compare to the ones in Asia, this is a good start. I flew out on JetBlue and wow, from the boarding to the takeoff it was right on time. Happy Travels Everyone!!!

Yelp
Spacious, easy to navigate, well lit. Escalators and elevators in working order. Plenty of businesses to keep you distracted while waiting for a flight and plenty of seating is available to relax.

Yelp
Last Thursday I finally got a first glimpse of the new Terminal A at Newark airport (EWR), home to Air Canada, American, Delta, JetBlue, and select United, officially opened in phases throughout 2023. After exiting TSA before heading to one of 33 gates or 4 lounges, what a striking contrast view from its predecessor with high ceilings and airy, light-filled concourses filled with murals and other public art works from New Jersey artists. The furniture was modern, comfortable, and aesthetically pleasing. Travelers relaxed with their laptops on cozy wooden chaise lounge chairs, waiting for their flights. This terminal received a five-star rating--and the best new terminal in the world designation--from this year's Skytrax World Airport Awards. What's next at this airport: rebuilding Terminal B. It's part of Port Authority plans to spend $30 billion to redo New York City-area airports.

Yelp
The terminal food and drinks are great. It's the tsa security is laid out really badly. It's chaos this is my 3 rd time to do terminal a and it's not gotten better So give yourself time to get through security and enjoy the bars and good restaurants

Yelp
So I finally made my way thru the new Terminal A. My last few United flights have been international or to the West Coast. Truthfully, I thought my flight to Vegas would be from Terminal C, but was pleasantly surprised when I realized it was departing via Terminal A. It's a bit further out compared to the other terminals. I'm sure connecting to B or C via AirTrain or the shuttle might be a bit of a pain. I didn't experience that, so can't vouch for myself. Security is funny here. If you have TSA Pre, what can be the longest part of security ends up being the absolute shortest. However, getting your bags back via security takes way too long. There's some inefficiencies there. They'll have to toy with the process. Once you pass security, you'll realize this new Terminal is a lot more airier than the other terminals. It's also more shopping centric and a bit more family friendly I think. Unlike Terminal C, you don't see a lot of those long bars that take up the hallways. They are better purposed here. I've heard some funny things about departing the airport. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll fly back into terminal A. Maybe I'm wrong though.... Better food options here, for sure. I had Beechers. I'll save it for another review.

Yelp
United's Terminal A just opened a few months ago. It is huge. So far, it is also clean and bright. Not much in the was of friendly employees, but I also have earned, through experiences, low expectations in many airports. TSA was rather long and grueling. A TSA employee even ran into me with an empty wheelchair while I was putting my belongings in the trays for scanning. And, there was a 40 minute delay due to an airplane mechanical issue -- delays are not attpical. But, we made it safely and Newark is soooo much more convenient for Jersey residents than NYC airports. So, all is well.

Yelp
First time flying out of the new Terminal A at Newark Liberty International Airport. It's definitely a lot cleaner and brighter than the old Terminal A or the current Terminals B and C. The layout is very different from what Terminal A used to be. The drop-off spots remind me more of LaGuardia. All of the gates are one level down from the security checkpoint. The whole security checkpoint had also been changed. The bins are larger. They take three people at a time and the bins alternate through the X-ray machine. Waiting for your bags to come through security is like waiting at baggage claim. Overall it's very nice but hopefully they take feedback before trying to renovate B or C.

Yelp
This was a amazing experience flying out of Newark, NJ! The terminal was absolutely beautiful, they did a great job, nothing was missed. This airport and terminal was very clean and the all the staff where helpful for our trip. The lighting, seats, bathrooms, food choices, everything was perfect. I really enjoyed the lighted scrolling informational tips about the city at the gates. I will post pics soon. They spent alot of money on the terminal and its truly shows. I will for sure be traveling thru Newark when possible! ~Happy Travels @glampedlife

Yelp
Terminal A of New New Jersey is nice because it's the very first terminal and you don't need to take a shuttle. It's incredible and full of welcoming signs, shops and restaurants. Very easy to navigate! Absolutely, let's chat about Newark Liberty International Airport! Hey! So, have you ever flown through Newark's Terminal A? **No, I haven't. What's it like?** Oh, it's pretty nice! They've done a lot of work to upgrade it recently. When you walk in, the first thing you notice is how clean and modern everything looks. They've really stepped up their game with regular cleaning schedules, so everything from the floors to the bathrooms is spotless. **That sounds great. What about the food options there?** You'll love it. There's a good mix of places to eat. Whether you're in the mood for a quick bite or a sit-down meal, they've got you covered. You can grab a coffee and a pastry at one of the cafes, or sit down for a more substantial meal at one of the casual dining spots. There's a decent variety, so you won't get bored even if you're there for a while. **How's the service?** The service is generally pretty good. Staff are friendly and helpful, especially considering how busy it can get. They seem to handle the crowds well, and there's always someone around to help if you have questions or need directions. The check-in and security processes are also pretty efficient, which is always a plus. **What about amenities? Any good places to relax while waiting for a flight?** Definitely. They've got comfortable seating areas with plenty of charging stations for your devices. There are also some nice retail shops if you want to do a bit of shopping or just browse to pass the time. They've really thought about making the waiting experience as pleasant as possible. **Have they made any recent improvements?** Oh yeah, they've been working hard on renovating the terminal. The updates include better signage, which makes it easier to navigate, and more spacious waiting areas. Everything feels more modern and streamlined, which really enhances the overall vibe of the place. **Sounds like a good airport to fly through. Anything else I should know?** Just that it's a pretty smooth experience overall. Whether you're there for a short layover or a longer wait, Terminal A has made a lot of improvements to ensure you're comfortable and well taken care of. It's definitely one of the nicer terminals I've been through recently. --- Hopefully, that gives you a good feel for what Terminal A at Newark is like!

Yelp
I don't typically bother to rate airport terminals but when you are up in the 3am hour and at the airport in the 4am hour - anything that makes life easier is much appreciated!! Checking bags and security was a breeze ( maybe because it's so early ) and the airport is bright, clean and airy. Also appreciated that I was able to grab coffee nice and early and there are lots of tables, seating areas and best of all, loungers where you can put your feet up. The bathrooms are the prettiest airport bathrooms ever. The stalls are decorated as a relaxing forest and have floor to ceiling doors that shut completely- most airport bathrooms seem to have doors that have large gaps that peek out ?! Gate areas have lots of seating and we boarded quickly and easily ! Brit awake at this hour is never fun but the terminal made it easy!

Yelp
I give EWR their credit, they done spruced it up with a facelift and man oh mannn, it looks GOOD. Easy to get around. Spacious. Clean. Ample restaurants to choose from.
google avatar

Yelp
I had not flown into Newark in many years. Terminal A is modern, clean, spacious. And United's baggage service was the fastest I've ever seen at a major airport. Ride share area is also very convenient (no long walks to a ride share lot).
google avatar

Paul Z.

Yelp
Great new terminal. Very bright and clean. Nice bathrooms with privacy stalls. Baby Changing table in men's room. Bottle filling station. Kid zone.
google avatar

Cheryl M.

Yelp
This terminal was redone and it really is very nice. Nice video graphics on the walls and calming music playing. New x Ray machines make for better and faster scanning of luggage. That being said, still give yourself plenty of time. Security lines were long--even the TSA precheck line was longer than I'm used to at other airports and for some aggravating reason, the TSA agents were allowing the Clear agents to cut the line and bring their customers right to the front of the line! The guy in front of me was losing it and yelling at the agent, he was so mad.
google avatar

Rob D.

Yelp
This terminal is very nice since the refresh or renovation. Night and day from what it once was.
google avatar

Jim S.

Yelp
I have always been impressed with Newark airport because it's clean and modern. There are a lot good food options too. It has a low stress atmosphere compared to JFK. I like this airport and highly recommended it.
google avatar

Jim D.

Yelp
Great new terminal. Weakest link is the skytrain is like 1/2 mile walk from terminal and they seem to run irregularly now and are consequently jam packed Laat week there were 22 people jammed in cab designed for maybe six
google avatar

Lupe E.

Yelp
i flew back home with this airport, specifically this terminal and i loved how advanced the tsa process was, it was fast too, one of the tsa girls was rude for no reason but we all know tsa workers aren't always friendly, regardless it was easy to find my gate, there is so many good options of restaurants and stores to chose from and i really liked this airport overall
google avatar

Isaac A.

Yelp
Terminal A is great because it is tied to the car rental walkway and you don't have to take a tram or bus across the airport. The seating in the United area is comfortable enough to sleep. I flew into terminal B earlier and it took a lot more time and was awkward to navigate.
google avatar

Mike K.

Yelp
Finally, EWR is on the upswing! They managed to create a modern and comfortable experience both at the same time. The design and art of the terminal are very modern and spacious, with all the amenities like USB ports, water bottle stations, tons of screen, and LED lights. At the same time, it's cozy, with artificial plants and greenery, reclined seating, and more. Special props to the floor-to-ceiling dividers and stalls in the bathrooms! The shopping and dining options are great - night and day compared to the old terminal A, and it's so much nicer having access to all the food options, as opposed to the luck of the draw with whichever satellite terminal your gate was in. My only drawback is if you take the train to the airport: terminal A is at the far end of the monorail and the track doesn't go all the way to the terminal, so you either have to walk another 15 minutes or take a shuttle. They're supposed to replace the monorail system, but that doesn't seem like it's happening anytime soon.
google avatar

Manish B.

Yelp
Wow Terminal A is amazing, security was a breeze and food options are actually decent. The gate seating areas are actually good looking with nice seating, clean and relatively quiet. I almost do not miss having a Centurion lounge here. Good job Newark .
google avatar

Paula J.

Yelp
This was my first chance to fly out of the new terminal A at Newark International airport. It was all I hoped it would be. Clean, modern, new and nicely designed. There are a lot of power outlets, nice seating and cute tiny details everywhere you look.
google avatar

Elle K.

Yelp
A big fan of the new terminal A. Quick check-in/security experience. They've got those deluxe Xray machines. 5 minutes and you're done. No need to remove your computer. And remember if you or your travel peeps are 75 or older, no need to take off your shoes. I am not 75! Beautiful, modern and bright. Staff seems happier too! Keep up the great work!!
google avatar

Traci W.

Yelp
Apparently terminal A has been recently remodeled. I can't say I remember how the old terminal was so I really have nothing to compare it to except for the other terminals that I visited. Usually when I fly in and out on United, I seem to always end up in terminal C so this was new for me. Terminal C is definitely more busy and has a higher energy vibe. There are also more restaurant and bar options in terminal C but terminal a is brand, new, very clean, and a little bit more on the quaint side, compared to the other terminals with all their hustle and bustle. There were a few good restaurant spots and bars, as well as some shops for snacks and gifts. Overall it was a pleasant experience
google avatar

Holly K.

Yelp
Wow! Terminal A certainly got a multi-million dollar upgrade! The terminal is beautiful and I seriously feel weird saying that about an airport terminal-- but it is. Their hydrangea lights, lounge chairs, greenery, all of the design details-- it's super impressive. I used to dread flying anything but United into Newark since if you flew Jet Blue your only food option was literally an Auntie Anne's that constantly sold out, and essentially fancy port a potties. Not the case now with Terminal A! the food options are also more varied in this terminal compared to C and there were so many outlets and restrooms available. Newark isn't such a horrible place anymore, huge kudos to them!
google avatar

Gary H.

Yelp
This is a beautiful new terminal. Absolutely amazing. Worth the visit. Definitely turns my opinion on Newark.
google avatar

Michael N.

Yelp
It certainly beats the slumlord nature of the old building especially if delays force you to hunker down for an extended period but it's tough to grin enthusiastically when delays at this airport are world class and baked into the experience. Sure, it has a Jetsons or Tomorrowland feel but at least George had a flying car to bypass the monotony. Four stars for a noble effort.
google avatar

Sandi S.

Yelp
Easy to breeze thru security mid day and middle of the week with no holiday but couldn't get a wheelchair attendant at Jet Blue counter so a nice Jet Blue agent named Cynthia pushed until we arrived at pre TSA entrance . My spouse took over from there ( dislikes traveling). Terminal A is new and improved and much bigger than I remembered . Lots of new restaurants and shops to enjoy and explore if you have the time before your flight . For my early dinner, I had a huge Playa Power bowl ( one xl size to choose from so kinda pricey - so big enough for 2 people if you both like the same ingredients) . Out of bananas so was subbed a fruit - I got mango - lots of mango chunks on top . but most were unripened and hard so couldn't eat them . My spouse ordered a chicken / rice on salad from the Mediterranean Grill in the Center food court . Spouse said it tasted pretty good and not spicy . Spouse finished half my giant Playa Bowl for dessert .. No gluten free bread to be had at the Jersey Mikes in the food court . Told all out after standing in line ..
google avatar

Haley F.

Yelp
Pretty impressed with this airport. The other airports in New York are my go to because of the ease and access. However, this time I flew into Terminal A and it is clearly updated, brand, new, very clean, and very easy to get out to passenger pick up! When it's bad weather, cold and rainy, like it is today that matters the most to me.
google avatar

Steve S.

Yelp
When did they upgrade this terminal? You no longer have to remove liquids, etc from bag and was quick! Love what they did here. 5 stars!!
google avatar

Wei H.

Yelp
Nice and clean terminal. We got here 430am. Food/restaurants are mostly open. Shopping stores usually open later. We have TSA pre check so pass the security under 2 mins.
google avatar

Adam H.

Yelp
Very nice experience flying from Newark to Houston on Nov. 6 (early). TSA, despite the growing crowd of passengers, did a bang-up job getting everyone through in a timely manner. The terminal itself is roomy, well organized and pleasing to the eye. I moved away from NJ in 1998 and have tended to land at Laguardia over the years during visits. Though Newark has also been in that mix, the construction of this terminal didn't faze me, because there's terminal construction at many airports. Still, kudos to the folks who designed this and to the crews that built it.
google avatar

Elena K.

Yelp
The new Newark Airport Terminal A is so nice! What a difference from the old worn out days of travel through NYC. Easiest airport for travel to NJ and NYC!
google avatar

Maria G.

Yelp
Haven't been to Newark in years and this upgraded terminal is very nice. Like others have said, it's just a very long walk from the security check in to the gate. Arrival note: if you need to get to AirTrain, you can exit the baggage claim area to get to ground transportation. Walk to the left area waiting for the shuttle bus, which will take you to the AirTrain. The right area is for taxi and others. Or you can take the elevator to go upstairs to get the overpass, and then follow signs for "AirTrain to city/ground transportation" area. It's a 15-min walk. The free shuttle bus is a 5-min ride and comes every 6 minutes. Departure note: the first gate scan is for your boarding pass. Then the TSA agent only needs to see your ID/passport (no need for tickets). There is like never enough bathroom for airline travelers. The ones near the gates are very crowded. Be sure to take advantage of the restrooms when you see them. Overall pretty easy to get to, other than adding an extra 15-minute of commute to get to the AirTrain, and then get into the city.
google avatar

Mark S.

Yelp
I remember when this terminal was just a rumor... Terminal A just opened up back in the spring of 2023. Initially it was a soft opening in April. Now fully operational with 34 gates. All the major airlines are here. My departure was with Delta and it was a easy experience. Even with that TSA line only being about 15 minutes for a early morning flight. Arrival was with United and that was easy also. If you're connecting on United, just go downstairs by Gate 28 and there is a shuttle bus taking you to Terminal C. This is such a big improvement over the old Terminal A. So many shops to pass your time. If you have the chance, check out the Office Tavern Grill by gate 7. The big downside, no moving walkways. This may never happen again but on my arrival my bag was first up the belt. Welcome to the new Terminal A. And as always, safe travels and enjoy your flight.
