"Owner and executive chef Jeff Rossman’s spot is one of San Diego’s first farm-to-table restaurants and since moving from Hillcrest to its location on El Cajon Boulevard, it’s been a popular area mainstay. The menu is labeled New American meaning you can find influences from all over, like their Nashville hot chicken sandwich and stuffed pork chops with chicken chorizo to bowls with Asian ingredients." - Darlene Horn

I recently visited Terra American Bistro with a group of about 20 people and unfortunately, our experience fell far short of expectations. I feel compelled to share my honest feedback to help others make informed decisions. To begin with, the wait time for our pre-ordered food was unacceptably long. Despite notifying the restaurant our orders weeks in advance, we were left waiting for 90 minutes before our food was ready! This delay not only caused frustration but also resulted in our group being late for prom, Throughout our time at the restaurant, we were also disappointed by the lack of attentive service. Our servers failed to check in on us to see how we were enjoying the food or if we needed anything, causing us to feel neglected. Additionally, I was not once offered a refill for my drink the whole 2 hours we were there, which only added to my overall disappointment. In addition, despite its decent quality and taste, the food we received was nothing special and overpriced considering the small portion sizes. We expected more substantial servings, especially considering the prices charged ($30 per person plus 20% auto gratuity). The combination of high prices and inadequate portion sizes left us feeling dissatisfied and disappointed. Considering the unreasonable delays, lack of quality service, and overpriced dishes, I regret to say that I cannot in good conscience recommend Terra American Bistro.

What is a quaint, quiet with a hint of upscale restaurant? Terra American Bistro is just that. We were looking for a new brunch spot to try and we stumbled across this one. What a great place. Most things are homemade and are delicious. Bottomless mimosas are only $6 here. When you pull up to this place you think it's closed but it's actually open. The service was good and the food was even better. My girlfriend ordered the bacon and avocado omelette and I ordered the pork scramble. Both were fantastic! The pork in my dish was tender and had nice flavor. Her dish came with homemade ketchup which had a nice sweetness to it. This was a cute place with a nice atmosphere. I would recommend this place to anybody looking for a new place to try.

Google
First time experience was amazing! The fried cauliflower was scrumptious. My salad with fresh arugula, strawberries and gargonzola was heavenly. And my flat bread pictured was on point. I cannot forget our wonderful server, Colleen. She was super informative and knew her menu items well. My wife and I will definitely be going back...soon.

Another 5 star review goes out to Terra American Bistro! I cannot rave enough about the amazing delivery service and special offerings during this difficult time. Here's my food recommendations: - Lobster mac and cheese - I love the rigatoni style pasta and the cheese sauce. It was not overwhelming and the lobster was so sweet and tender! - Fried Brussels Sprouts - Salty Peppery Calamari - Pan Roasted Hanger Steak - tender piece of steak and I don't eat alot of red meat! - St Louis Gooey Butter Cake - you cannot find this anywhere! I need a tray of these! - Cast Iron Baked Banana Bread Puddin' - buttery goodness and a must order! During COVID, all the staff are wearing masks properly and giving us disposable menus, making sure everyone is social distancing. They have outdoor seating and you can tell the owner takes pride in making the customers feel comfortable. Love this place!

First Visit: It took 1 hour and 10 minutes for us to receive our food. Once we notified the staff, our food showed up in 10 min. I believed they rushed it as my burger was extremely charred on the outside and RARE inside. Also, one of our plates did not come until 15 minutes after the rest of us received our food. The lady comped our whole bill which was great due to our 1st experience there. We wanted to like this place but it fell way below expectations. However, we would like to try the place another chance as the lady helped us out. September 16, 2018 Update 2nd Visit. I still give it 2 stars. The good: Server this time around is much better. He continued to check on us. The bad: long wait time equal to our 1st visit. Took 20 min. to receive my order of latte. Took 40 minutes to receive my food. My wife and I ordered the Chorizo over easy eggs. Both our eggs were cooked and not close to over easy photos below. The server offered to have it remade, but I don't want to wait another 35 minutes. My buddy ordered ice tea, that i believe provide refills, but never refilled.

Google
We had a fantastic dinner last night. We ordered the special filet mignon, and it was better than any steak night. Also ordered the pumpkin raviolis which is something you have to try when they are on the menu.

Google
Friendly staff. On sundays bottomless mimosas are $6.50. Farm fresh locally grown veggies, unique ketchup which was yummy, and a country feel with country music in the background. Appropriately fast service. Chicken chorizo and my breakfast burrito had great flavor. No rosemary in the country potatoes was awesome!!!!

Google
Friendly and welcoming this place is the perfect level of class without any snoot. I thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and drink selections and when it came time to ear the meal was perfect. I had the flat iron steak and I'll just say it, amazing in every way. I highly recommend for a fun date night with the significant other or others.

Yelp
Had a wonderful experience here. The staff were very kind and tentative. Our host Spencer W. made sure my wife and I had an experience we wouldn't forget. He recommended the short rib and the recommendation was on point as well as the Brie. Great food Great service We will surely be back to this wonderful place.

Yelp
My last visit to Terra American Bistro was after the menu had been revamped. Specifically, I had read about the 'Meat & Three' option which was based on how some casual dining places in the South serve their meals. Other entrees and appetizers were listed on the front of the menu while the back of the menu displayed both the non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages. The ten parking spaces immediately in front of the restaurant were all filled at my arrival, but they had an overflow agreement with the automobile repair shop across the street where you could park in their driveway after-hours. The dining room was maybe 1/3 full of customers so there was no wait at all for seating. I ordered a Southern Sweet Tea for my beverage which had unlimited refills. There was some fruity component added to the simple syrup because the waiter told me they used plain Lipton tea to brew the base. I ended up choosing the Jeff's Meatloaf as my meat entree with the following three sides... Yukon Potato Hash, Cardamom-Honey Glazed Carrots, Braised Spring Vegetables. The meatloaf was a combination of pork, beef, and lamb although the gaminess of the lamb was the most prominent flavor even with the brown gravy served on top. Of the sides, I liked the carrots the best because of the honey glaze. All the 'Meat & Three' selections were reasonably priced. The bonus at the time was getting a free serving of Bread Pudding for checking in. It was a generously portioned dessert that was a nice way to finish the meal. I gave a 3.5 star rating for my dinner at Terra American Bistro.

Yelp
So good was really good. I got the Katsu chicken with coconut rice. Service was good, but the poor guy had the entire restaurant by himself but still kept up. Good job! The ambiance was casual, but felt more a little like a home. Maybe that was the intension. Had a good time though and food was very delicious. The kimchi was very spicy but I love the spice!!

Sommer C.

Yelp
The food is delicious, and they have a nice variety to accommodate me (a vegan) and my husband (an omnivore). The farm-to-table ambiance is pleasant. I would give it a 5, but the service has been slow the last couple times for no apparent reason. Also, it's one of those places that acts like you should have a reservation even when they're not that busy.

Leslie C.

Yelp
What an incredible disappointment. I used to love this place but we will not be back. We ordered from the date night menu. I ordered a terra burger no bun and no cheese. I added bacon and asked that it be crispy. The burger arrived with no onion, soggy bacon and no aioli. When i asked if the burger was supposed to come with onion i was told no. However it clearly states that it comes with onion on the menu. The bacon arrived soggy. The waiter took the bacon back while I waited. He brought it out five minutes later just slightly less soggy, nowhere near crispy. If your waiters don't know what should be on your burger and your chef can't crisp up bacon on two tries you are doing something very wrong. They are clearly short staffed as i had to ask for water refills multiple times. The dessert was a gooey butter cake with berries. It was really a softish biscuit with one small strawberry! Such a waste of $80!

Yelp
Went for a family dinner to celebrate a birthday. The waitress was visibly annoyed that we had small children with us who were playing and laughing at the table. Her annoyance was verbalized several times. It negatively affected her service and our experience. The food was fine but will not go again as there are lots of other family friendly restaurant options to choose from.

Sparky S.

Yelp
We ate here a bit ago, for the first time, for an early dinner. We were seated quickly and the wait staff was friendly. The food was a bit slow coming out, but it was beautifully prepared and delicious. The only reason this is four stars instead of five is because it was a bit more expensive than we had anticipated for our pocket books! I understand that the catering side of Terra is exemplary and wonderful and that will be their focus moving forward.

Yelp
Restaurant week and my wife and I enjoyed Terra. Drinks were delicious and the pumpkin raviolis (give me a big plate of these please), lobster Mac 'n Cheese and desserts were palate pleasers. Make a point to stop Terra during Restaurant Week and you will be pleased you did.

Yelp
Unassuming outside, low key inside but very good food. This place was recommended by another restaurant we went to. I know the area, as a SDSU-alum but hardly go there anymore in 20+ years. Anyway, went in only with modest expectations but walked away impressed. Very good food and very good services. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Tonight I chose a warm corn beef sandwich with sauerkraut! It was just short of so not good. If you like thick beef jerky on soggy bread with a tablespoon sauerkraut, this sandwich is for you. But I have delighted at Jerry's Deli in LA, so this was completely disappointing! BTW: I was so excited to eat at Terra, because every other meal I have had at Terra has been terrific.

Yelp
We had dinner on a Thursday night. We had cards we bought at Costco and are trying different restaurants that accept them. Online we saw there was an early dinner option. If you come in between 4:30 and 6:00, on certain days, you get soup or salad and ice cream added to your dinner for free. The restaurant has a very comfortable feel. The staff are super nice and efficient. We ordered draught Mexican style beer with lime and salt. My husband and I both had a chopped side salad which came with a vinaigrette dressing. For our entrees we chose the Asian bowl with steak. We thought we would get pieces of steak but it was a whole steak. We were both surprised at how tasty the food was. It had some spice but not overwhelming and my husband was able to enjoy it, even though he doesn't like food too spicy. We got free ice cream with our dinner which came with slices of strawberry. We were very glad we chose this restaurant to eat at and are looking forward to returning to try other entrees.

Yelp
We took out from Terra American Bistro for a Passover seder because we were not in a position to cook this year and it was wonderful. They so considerately assembled each component and gave great written instructions for warming the dishes up at home to ensure that it would be a successful meal. The matzo ball soup, brisket, and roasted veg were delicious, as were the desserts. The salad was fresh and the dressing was yummy- even my toddler ate it. I'm not one to leave reviews, but I wanted to share this because it was really lovely. We've never eaten at the restaurant and will definitely come in soon. Thank you, Terra Bistro!

Yelp
Sorry to hear your closing your dinning room. Over the years have had many family n friends meal at both your locations, great food and great service. I guess it is a final good by. Why would I pay for top dollar for a cold meal, by the time I get it home. Yes you use top quality ingredients but would good is it if it is served cold

Yelp
Terra American Bistro, We came tonight to celebrate our sons 21st Birthday. We all had a wonderful time celebrating and fellowshipped with good wine and food. This restaurant claims to be a farm-to-table restaurant and you delivered in a big way. There were beautiful plated meals and the ambiance was above reproach; I loved the industrial farm house feel. This restaurant is truly in a category of its own. Allow me to share with our viewers some of the Super Stars of tonight: Just know, you will not leave here disappointed. 1st Kara - She is a fabulous food runner. **Note to Management/Owner**: You need to keep an eye on her because she is becoming one of the best things happening to this establishment. She must be promoted to 'server' as soon as possible. Kara ensured our meals were on point with zero mistakes and always made sure our table was cleared before the next serving came to our table. We watched Kara all night long kicking butt with every table she interacted with, and she made everyone feel loved and special. She's a diamond-in-the-rough!! 2nd Catacea - What caught our eye to observe the bartender was the wine glasses. It's all about attention-to-detail. When we ordered our wine bottle, the wine glasses were stunningly perfect without a smug, or dirty mark on the glasses. For my sons birthday, she made these delightful drinks for him. Catacea's attention-to-detail in making our drinks was a beautiful representation of a warm hearted person who loves her job and you could see it in her craft. She was a wonderful reflection of what a bartender should be doing and more. 3rd Kaya - A beautiful Hostess with a gorgeous smile; so welcoming and made us feel at home. There was a moment during our evening when someone at our table spilt their drink on the table and it found it's way on the floor. Kaya went and grabbed the mop and before she could clean it I took the mop from her and cleaned it myself. She was a great sport and we all had a great laugh about it. Honorable Mention: Eddie - Our waiter for the evening. We kind of felt like he was a bit scatterbrained and had a difficult time paying attention, especially when we were ordering, but he was quick to apologize and made every attempt to make up for his shortcomings. He did not give up and kept pressing through. All-in-all...great job Eddie. Yelp Disclaimer: I was not paid or offered any incentive to produce this post for Terra American Bistro. I enjoy posting on restaurants and their staff whenever an opportunity presents itself. Tonight was our first time eating here and I hope you would give this establishment a try. You will not regret it. Safe travels and happy eating!!

Yelp
Walking into this place on a Friday night I was expecting it to be a little busier but it was definitely very mellow inside. The bar seemed busy which is always good and they had 1 TV to watch whatever sporting event was on that night. The menu has a good variety I would say along with a full bar. We each ordered a drink and decided to start with the baked brie which was honestly probably my highlight of the meal. It was perfectly melty with granola on top to add a crunch with the bread. It was honestly a bigger slice of brie than I was accepting as well. We ended up going for the classic burger along with the nashville hot chicken sandwich and fries. Everything tasted good and the Nashville sandwich was pretty big we ended up taking some home. I would like to try maybe some of the other entrées or appetizers on the menu to see if that hits the spot.

Yelp
I had been wanting to dine inside of Terra for a while. I have family who lives nearby and they rave about it. I met a girlfriend for a weekday dinner. The outside of the restaurant is very understated. I would have probably drove past had I not been looking out for it. The inside is small and quaint. Very mom and pop. I liked it from the start. I made a reservation through Open Table but they weren't busy. We were able to select our table. We sat in the corner so we didn't disturb others with our conversation. We had the pleasure of being served by David. We loved him. He was funny and attentive. Great sense of humor and very personable. He also made great recommendations on what to order. We shared the brussel sprouts and skillet Mac n cheese. Both were delicious. Highly recommend. The Mac n cheese is not figure friendly so we ordered the vegetable to balance things out. For my entree, I got the brisket Mac n cheese grilled cheese with truffle fries. Yummy! David told us that the Mac n cheese appetizer was different that the Mac n cheese inside the brisket sandwich for the entree. The older I get, I more I don't care as much about eating healthier. I love Mac n cheese so I said to heck with it and got both. My friend got the adobo chicken. The portion was much larger than I expected. It was moist and she enjoyed it. For dessert, I got the gooey butter cake. It wasn't gooey at all. I imagined it to be softer like it was not fully baked. The consistency was more like a scone. I would have heated up slightly. My friend got the banana bread pudding. She loved it. The night was very delightful. I could see returning to have a nice quiet dinner.

Yelp
We ordered the Skillet Mac n Cheese, Terra Wagyu Burger with truffle fries, St. Louis Butter cake. The Mac n Cheese looked nothing like what Iwe saw on the menu, there was hardly any sauce, no taste of truffle, not creamy or browned on top and was not worth the $14.00 I paid. The Terra Wagyu Burger was ordered medium, but was very pink inside, no caramelized onion and had no truffle aioli - it didnt melt in my mouth like it has other times I've ordered it, and was a complete disappointment. The truffle fries were good, but the serving was smaller than other times I've ordered it. If I'm going to spend $21.00 for a special burger and fries, it needs to meet expectations every single time. The Butter Cake was wonderful this time, but when I've ordered it in the past, it's been dry with the wrong texture that I've come to be accustomed to. . This is not the first time I've been disappointed with the quality of their food. Ive eaten here for years and I know what it should taste like, and rThey are very inconsistent with quality and serving size. With prices going up, I dont think I can justify spending this kind of money on food that is hit or miss on these 2 important criterion.

Felicity P.

Yelp
Ordered on door dash got the Nashville hot chicken sandwich so good so fresh . It was flavorful and spicy they have a little too much breading however and not much chicken . The fries were fresh cut ones and seasoned really well highly recommend I'm a big hot chicken fan I would choos probably main chick over this place but a good alternative

Raquel T.

Yelp
Terra is our go-to for a local bite and delicious cocktails. Unfortunately, like most restaurants post pandemic, they are under staffed, so it takes a while to get your food. Other than that, David our normal waiter is very kind, attentive and all around awesome.

Justie L.

Yelp
We were lucky enough to snag a table at Terra for SD restaurant week, and absolutely loved our experience! Our group of 4 was greeted and seated immediately on a Thursday night. We each opted to partake in the restaurant week deal, and thought it was great that if you didn't want any of the appetizers they offered, you could opt for a glass of wine instead--and they had a solid amount of different wine options you could choose from. Across the board, we all loved the food we had. I'm a big soup gal and immediately fell in love with their mushroom and leek bisque. Other standouts included the brisket, the brie, and the banana bread pudding. Seriously, make sure you don't miss out on the banana bread pudding. Served in a cast iron skillet, it's the perfect combo of crispy, dense, and buttery delicious. It's not too sweet, and makes for the perfect end to the meal.

Claire D.

Yelp
Full disclosure, we ordered through Yelp through Grubhub. That's fine. I expect food to be cold and a bit upcharged. That said, there were multiple things wrong with the order. They forgot our dessert, they forgot the added fried egg on the burger, and they over cooked the burger. We ordered the ranch burger medium with fried egg and onion added, upgrade to garlic fries; the hot chicken sandwich with truffle fries, and the gooey butter cake. Grubhub refunded the missing items, but we were thoroughly disappointed by the whole experience. The chicken sandwich was bland and the burger was average. Fries were soggy and husband didn't like the seasoning of the garlic fries. Truffle fries tasted ok-the truffle flavor wasn't too strong which was good, and the cheese and green onion garnish was nice. I had this place bookmarked to try for years but given the number of better options in the area we won't be back.

Tina C.

Yelp
Drive past this place all the time finally stopped in! Was greeted immediately as walking in. Was seated and server came right away. It was a Wednesday night and most of the tables were full. The server was had was amazing. Very attentive and answered any questions we had. Restaurant was very clean. Food was very delicious! Ordered the Asian bowl and a drink that has sparkling wine and fruit in it (can't remember the name, it was on the special menu list) The food was extremely fresh and very flavorful! Can't wait to come back!!thank you for a first great experience!

Yelp
I recently visited Terra American Bistro and had an exceptional dining experience. Although I had some reservations about giving it a 5-star rating due to a slight delay in service, the quality of the food and the inviting atmosphere easily won me over. To start off, the Brussels Sprouts appetizer was an absolute delight. They were cooked to perfection, retaining a satisfying crunch without being dry. The flavors were incredible, and I found myself forgetting I was even eating vegetables. It was truly a standout dish. For my main course, I opted for the Braised Short Rib, and it exceeded my expectations. The flavors were exceptional, and the portion size was just right. The accompanying sides of mashed potatoes, broccoli, and carrots were cooked to perfection and complemented the dish perfectly. I couldn't help but clean my plate entirely. It was a definite 10/10 experience. To top off the meal, I indulged in the Flourless Chocolate Cake. While the texture leaned more towards a mousse-like consistency, I had no complaints. The taste was excellent, especially when enjoyed alongside the Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream. It was the perfect ending to a wonderful meal. Despite the slight delay in service, which caused our total dining time to be around 2.5 hours, our server was great, and we felt well taken care of. The only minor drawback was that our orders should have been taken when the appetizers were served, rather than after we had finished them. Overall, I am highly impressed with Terra American Bistro. The food was exceptional, the ambiance was delightful, and the staff were friendly and attentive. I am eager to return very soon because of the outstanding experience I had.

Yelp
I've been here before and remember it to be pretty good but I came back for my wife's work party today and was not impressed. The apps were pretty good (Brussel sprouts, brie, cauliflower). I had the short ribs and it was very dry. The plate looks good when it came out but when I tried to cut into it was tough and dry. The mashed potatoes were super dry too. Maybe it was just a fluke but I wasn't very happy with my entree.

Yelp
My wife and I were in the area and needed to find a place to eat. Took a flyer for no particular reason and tried Terra. What a stroke of luck! While the menu is limited, the food was fabulous. Wagu Beef, fresh additions and sides. We really enjoyed our meal. The decor and seating are simple, capable of small intimate party or large group. SERVICE SERVICE SERVICE the food was great but the service was better! Eddie was excellent. Helped us with our choices as first time guests, very personable and attentive without being overbearing. Concluded the evening with his recommendation to try Terra's Banana Bread Pudding. GREAT SUGGESTION! We'd drop in just to have that as a treat. moist, flavorful, deliciously rich (we shared a serving and took a bit home). If you visit Terra and don't have it for dessert you've missed a gastronomic gift for the ages. Sorry we didn't think to take photos. When we return we will. A couple of miles from SDSU - make the trip! https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g60750-d2194976-r881807504-Terra_American_Bistro-San_Diego_California.html#

Yelp
I have been to Terra several times and have not been disappointed. The food is some of the best in the area and every server we have had has been great.

Yelp
Good food, good service, mellow atmosphere, fair prices I really like that there food tastes fresh

Yelp
One of San Diego's best hidden gem! We've been coming for years and LOVE everything on the menu! But the Chocolate Cigar needs to come back!!! Service is always on point! David never let's our drinks go low. Kara was as kind and attentive. We love, love, love this place. The Date Night menu was a great deal.

Kim B.

Yelp
Great food, wonderful chef! My husband and my favorite restaurant! Crab cakes, steak and desserts are amazing!

Yelp
3.1.2020 Came here after our original plans didn't work out because of parking. I was afraid we will get into the same problem but I was able to find street parking and they actually have a few spaces in front and around the back of the restaurant. Terra had a sign pointing to the tire place across the street indicating there's parking there as well. So parking was a bit weird for me as the main street was right there and very high traffic. The service was of course great. Since this was right before Quarantine I can't tell what service is like now. Just catching and indicating that if we were to come here again I know I would enjoy it. Ordered off the kids menu and got myself a sandwich. Very kid friendly and love how accommodating they were every time my daughter dropped something on the floor and we need a new fork, straw, napkin and etc.. So I wanted to point this out and say because of their great service I would come again.

Yelp
My fiancé and I had a wonderful date night at Terra American Bistro - not to mention it was our first date night out since Covid shutdowns in San Diego! We passed by the restaurant before committing to it for date night, and we felt very comfortable with the outdoor layout. Lots of 2-person chairs and a few 4-person chairs on the patio, all of which filled out quite moderately through our Friday dinner; meanwhile, we were told that the indoors area was fully booked. From a SRP standpoint, Terra has a wonderfully safe reopening plan based on my outdoor dining experience. It was a great first impression of outdoor dining since Covid reopenings. I liked that we could just wait outside for our table (hand sanitizer and a displayed menu available outside while you wait), and we noticed many cars quickly drop-by to pick up their curbside call-ahead orders, which seemed super quick and convenient for a future occasion. I loved that our server kept her mask on for our entire meal - this made me feel so safe! - but I did get a bit antsy whenever she stayed in our ~3ft radius for an extended period of time. That said, lots of outdoor ventilation in this particular patio. Getting our check was a bit slow, but understandable with how busy it got -- the pace was spot-on until the crowd ramped up at ~7P. Wonderful! This occasion was my 4th time eating here, and my favorite menu item here has always been their calamari - boldly seasoned and beautifully chewy yet soft texture! It was a bit too salty for me on this particular visit, but it's still a Must Order whenever I visit. The proteins at Terra are consistently amazing - my fiance's Grandma's Brisket and my Fried Chicken Sandwich were both highlighted by their incredibly tender and flavorful proteins. I really enjoyed my upgrade to truffle fries - I'd recommend it if you like the flavors of truffle oil! Safe, delicious, and full of flavor! I highly recommend Terra's patio dining, if you are looking for a fun dinner out (or for staying in)!

Yelp
Love this place. We come every two months or so with my immediate and extended family. Everything is good the burgers are often our go to. Everyone always leaves satisfied. Get the bread pudding!!

Yelp
Oh man what a truly awful meal. What we ordered (via DoorDash) -Warm Spinach and Artichoke Dip with grilled bread- what we got...creamed spinach extra runny with artichokes tossed in. No seasoning whatsoever with cold ungrilled bread (4 thin slices of baguette). It was awful. -Burger Package- 2 Burgers (ordered medium rare) with lettuce, tomato, pickles, and sauce (we omitted onions). Comes with two orders of fries and a salad for 2. What we got- 2 rare burgers (that were somehow still dry...even though they claim to be "waygu" which was packaged as follows: two giant pieces of romaine lettuce in each box, the butt end of the tomato in each box, 4 pickles in one box, 2 in the other, the hamburger patty's on top of all the cold produce (you can imagine how ice cold that burger arrived), and a squirt of their burger sauce placed directly on the burger -also cold. The buns were wrapped in aluminum foil separately. I don't expect to-go orders to be burn your mouth hot, but there are measures you can take to insure it doesn't arrive ice cold. The fries were placed into one box, unventilated, and they were steaming hot but as soggy as could be. They were seasoned at least. That was the only thing seasoned from this entire meal. The salad was packaged separately and was nothing more than spring mix with shredded carrots and 1 side of dressing- for 2 people. Nothing particularly wrong with it other than not enough dressing for 2 people. -Bowl of cream of asparagus soup. I was particularly looking forward to this as it isn't often I find it in restaurants. What we got- some absolutely atrocious seafood chowder. I do not like seafood soups or chowder honestly...so that's a huge disappointment and waste of money. My husband did attempt a few bites as it is more his thing and he said it was awful and tasted like dirty dishwater. -Flat Iron Steak served with creamed spinach and Yukon mashed potatoes. This dish was $27. The steak weighed a little over 3.5 ounces. It was completely unseasoned other than the poorly flavored chimichuri sauce. The creamed spinach was completely unseasoned and extremely watery. They did throw a sprinkle of shaved Parmesan on top...so there's that. The Yukon potato mash ended up being red skinned mashed potatoes and very reminiscent of the boil in a bag potatoes places like Sysco carry. Zero seasoning. - Baguette with herb butter- the only thing that came as expected. We paid a little over $100 for this meal and ended up making a sandwich on the baguette instead of eating it. I can not fathom returning here to try anything else.

Yelp
Anything and everything is so tasty here. The hours are a little wonky ever since COVID so make sure you double check if it's open before you go. I can't even make suggestions because there's no point. Everything is good. Brussel sprouts, mac and cheese. Special of the day. Truffle fries. Bread pudding. All the desserts. So good!

Yelp
I recently went to Terra for dinner. I LOVE the bread pudding! I thought I would eat light, so I ordered a chopped salad. The salad was iceberg lettuce, bacon, feta cheeae, and part of a tomato from a can! I was so disappointed in my salad. II just expected much more from this restaurant. I still love the bread pudding though!

Yelp
09/03/21 - Celebrated my friend's bday here. This was her first time here and she loved everything. Staff is very nice and was always checking up on us. Our reservation was at 6pm. It prob got busy around 7:30pm. We ordered the baked brie, truffle fries, the braised short rib, grandma's brisket and the absolutely amazing banana bread pudding. EVERYTHING WE HAD WAS ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! Pro tip- if you check in through Yelp, you can get the banana bread pudding for free. I suggest you save room for this. Also, we got seated a little early so we were able to get our appetizers for happy hour price. I highly recommend this place. Never had anything bad here.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place by chance, and so thankful we did. The burger is to die for, as recommended by our server David, who was wonderful! Do yourself a favor and get the banana bread pudding.

Yelp
Came here for restaurant week because the reviews on Yelp looked promising and the menu sounded delicious. Left feeling meh afterwards. Service was okay. I was a little annoyed that it took them a while to come around to say hi to take our drink orders. Our food did roll out in a timely manner though, so that was great. From the restaurant week menu: Brie cheese - 5/5 we both loved it! Salad with beets and goat cheese - 4/5 it was a great salad but nothing outstanding Brisket - 3/5 could have been more tender and flavor fell flat. The sauce was nothing special. Braised short rib - 3.5/5 this was slightly better but not by much. It was pretty tender but flavor fell flat for me. Espresso martini - 5/5 I don't usually like martinis but this was enjoyable! Smooth and delicious Flourless chocolate cake - 2/5 in their actual menu, I loved that they advertised berries with the chocolate cake but came out with half of one teeny tiny strawberry with the cake. I know flourless has a different texture but this was probably the least enjoyable cake I've had. Just really dry and crumbly. Drinks: Terra newly fashioned - my husband thought it was too sweet for him Habanero hibiscus margarita - this was really good and I enjoyed it a lot. The flavors meshed well together and was not too floral for my liking.

Yelp
Brought my staff here for an anniversary dinner, table of 17!! Amazing food, good service & very accommodating.

Yelp
I agree that this restaurant has some good food BUT not the special I ate last night. It was surf and turf over pasta and it was basically flavorless. There were very small bites of meat and fish. The shrimp, was a good size. The pasta had zero flavor. I did' t expect a sauce, but an ingredient was missing to give the pasta flavor. I did eat the few bites of meat and seafood but could not eat the rest. I told the server that the dish was lacking in flavor. I was basically dismissed. Just because most of your reviews are good doesn't men there isn't room for improvement. If a customer is not happy they should be taken seriously. If there is a next time, I know to order from the regular menu.

Yelp
Restaurant was very loud. The chairs are metal and very hard. Service was good. Food was over priced. We had a party of 11. They do charge a 20% gratuity for large parties. Not sure what is considered large. They over charged my CC. A entree that we did not order. They corrected it at the restaurant but did not reflect on CC statement. Had to called 3 times to get it corrected. She even floated the reason that was another 20.00 tip on top of the 65.00 tip. The credit was 40.00 for a salad we did not order.Be careful of extra charges or meals that you are not aware of.

Yelp
The food was really good! We had the ahi tuna and nachos. Our only complaint was it was really expensive. We support local businesses but probably won't go back due to the cost.

Yelp
PROS: + beautiful decor + GREAT SERVICE + Nashville hot chicken sandwich + calamari + AMAZING MAC AND CHEESE + BREAD PUDDING + Close to Next Door Winery + meatloaf + brunch was pretty good! CONS: - parking could be challenging It may seem like I'm listing EVERYTHING on the menu, but there was nothing bad that we tasted :) LOVE THIS PLACE! What a gem in La Mesa!

Yelp
My wife went there last evening (Saturday 8/6/22). Food was delicious. I had the Wagyu bacon and cheese burger. Best burger I've ever had. The Mrs had the Turkey sandwich with fresh roasted turkey with Bree cheese. She LOVED it. I tried it too. So good. Seriously good. Tried the Garbage fries too. Stupid good!!

Yelp
Always amazing quality and taste here in La Mesa. I rarely eat out and prefer to make everything at home but when I do eat out, Terra is the only choice. Had the takeout dinner for two and it was even more delicious than advertised!

Yelp
Always the best of food, service and ambiance! We've been going to Terra since it was located in Hillcrest. It's been our go-to favorite for decades.

Yelp
Ordered the rigatoni and it was wonderful! The spices took the dish up a notch or two. If you get there before 6 you can get either soup or salad plus icecream or sorbet with your entree choice for free. I got the soup of the day which was chicken vegetable and it was also quite good. I've been there twice and the wait staff is on point too!
