Boston’s Best Restaurants for Brazilian Food | Eater Boston

"Grilled meat can be found in every corner of the world. In Brazil (and other parts of South America), churrasco (which translates to “barbecue”) is the preferred form of grilling meat. The first thing diners notice at Terra Brasilis in Framingham is all the skewered beef, pork, and chicken being cooked over flames near the back wall of the restaurant. Be sure to try the picanha (fatty beef sirloin), and the chicken liver too. Prices are determined by the food’s total weight, unlike the all-you-can-eat fees typical at some Brazilian steakhouses. Terra Brasilis is open for indoor dining, takeout, and delivery. It also has a location in Worcester." - Tommy Ranucci

My husband and I stopped in here for a meal today and we already know we're going back again soon! This is a buffet-style experience. So you grab a plate and some food along the serving area. There's a person for the meat where you pick off a list and how many pieces you want. The chosen meat gets taken off the wall of cooking skewers to be freshly sliced and put on your plate. Then you can weigh out your food where you'll receive a print out of the weight and corresponding price (I think the rate was $11 or $12 per pound of food). You go sit and eat and if you want anything more or to add drinks or dessert, you just go back up with your print out. Once you're done eating and ready to go, that's when you pay for everything. Pros: - friendly staff - delicious food - straight forward process - warm and friendly environment - can to-go container any food you don't finish while dining in - everything labeled - question-friendly environment Cons: - ... Well, I got nothing, honestly. It was a great experience and we have zero complaints and will most definitely be back again! We're already planning to bring a few different people who would love this spot! The food I ended up getting: white rice, pinto beans, garlic top sirloin, bacon-wrapped chicken, garlic bread, chicken salad, beef stew, and caesar salad. (The one picture with the focus of meat is the garlic top steak just to show the garlic-y goodness! 🤤) The food my husband ended up getting: white rice, lamb, pork ribs, beef ribs, fries, potato salad, garlic bread, and caesar salad. There wasn't a single thing we tried that we didn't like! In the end we paid about $60 and it was totally worth it in our opinion! Delicious, had a good amount of options, already had us thinking of the next visit - because there will be one. 😂 My all time favorite food item, though, was the beef stew (the smaller dish with the bell pepper slice in it)! I was practically drinking it out of the container! Definitely worth trying if you stop in. 😁

Google
An absolute gem! The food is always fresh and full of flavor, but the picanha is truly out of this world! Hands down one of the best I’ve ever had. Perfectly seasoned, tender, and cooked to perfection every single time. The staff are friendly and welcoming, making every visit feel special. If you love authentic Brazilian cuisine, this place is a must-visit. Highly recommend!

Google
i wanted to put zero stars but i didn’t have that option , i came over to have some dinner despite seeing all the crazy reviews i came to give them a chance. when i got there i saw no people eating it was empty and all the employees on there phone didn’t even look up to greet us . customer service was not pleasant . All the food looked cold and dry. when we got to the barbecue man he was very slow to come attend us even after seeing us and when we politely asked him if he could grab a peice of meat from the end of the stick because the ones in the front were all burnt and black he said in a very ignorant way “ it’s all the same thing “ ,i even wanted to say it it was all the same thing i wouldn’t have asked you to grab the one in the back . when i went to try the meat it was very dry and unseasoned i had asked for thin slices and he didn’t comply.

Someone told my daughter this place was good so we decided to go along with my sister. I am not what she had, but the food was awful to us. Maybe it’s best to go when they first open because the food was a little cold, the meat was dried out on the buffet , and the meat on the turn machine was dried out as well. We tried the steak, chicken, lamb, some kind of red hot sausage, and what looked like a pork roast and all of it was dry and the steak tasted a little gamy to me. Even the plantains were a little dry. The food may have just been sitting to fry out, IMO because too muchbof the meat was dried out. The mango and passion fruit drinks seemed processed. It’s not an all you can eat Buffett. You fix your food and you have to weigh your plate. For me and my daughter it was $48 and change. The spoons are too big as well. They’re more like soup spoons. It was not worth it. They do have a bar, which may be a plus for those that drink. We didn’t even finish the food we got. As far as me and my family, we are all set. We went around 4:30pm. I did snap some pics of our food to show what we started out with and what was left. I think if they figure out a better ray to keep the meat moist, it may be a little better.

Google
So good. Buffet style is guick, fresh and delicious with many options. Nice bar area as well, but not fancy. Easy to grab to go food as well. The cook was super friendly and gave great suggestions as it was my first time here. We will be back soon I'm sure. The only thing I was missing was grape leaves.

Google
Food is good. But, overpriced, and priced by weight. Not economical if you’re looking for a value. There is no service, it’s self service.

Google
Great Brazilian restaurant! Excellent service at tables. Salad bar with many great choices for veggies, salads, rice, meats and other sides. So many delicious meat options to choose from. Everything at a great location and great price.

Google
So my husband and I decided to stop here for a late lunch, we go in and the hostess while kind mannered appeared to be annoyed that we didn't know where to go, she explained it was self service and by the pound, wonderful concept except The food looked like something out of a jailhouse cafeteria, the mashed potatoes were not fluffy the food was not even hot at all... The fish fell apart from too much oil and I'm sorry but spending 54.00 for 2 people for lukewarm food and pink chicken that looked undercooked and a weigher who I'm sorry but you do not treat first timers with a attitude because I don't know your procedures, we paid for the food first as I am customed to making sure you pay before you eat. I called my bank right after to put in a charge back this was not 🚫 quality service nor was this an experience we ever had, first and last time we ever visit this place. Give us back our money and if you dispute this with our bank we will fight it, rudest staff and ice cold food... My next call should be to the department of health, but I rather just take our 54.00 +tip and never see this place again!

Yelp
What a wonderful food. From the buffet to the barbecue, you're on your toll. I recommend it mainly to a group of people because the service and the price is great.

Jeffrey H.

Yelp
Excellent service and great meats and salad bar. The meats were well seasoned and there was even mint sauce for the delicious lamb.

Yelp
I live 30 minutes away. I ride an electric motorcycle. Quiet and peaceful. My ride from Worcester to Clinton is beautiful. I parked in the center of town, got out my phone and looked for lunch. What luck to find this authentic Brazilian restaurant. I went in, met the owners and had a great lunch. Everyone and everything was just right. The owner, from Bazil, walked outside to talk motorcycling. Today I brought some friends, a total of nine, back to Clinton. A home run.

Yelp
Hesitated to go to the Shrewsbury location due to bad reviews. It was good though. 3 stars because I rarely give 4 stars and much more rare to give 5 stars. Not Fogo de Chao good but at $12 a pound for lunch, this is a sustainable price point. Definitely will go back. We went on a Thursday at around noon. It got busier at 1pm. The food was good. The tri tip was a bit salty but with rice, it was okay. The sausages were good and so was the sirloin. Got the potato salad, rice, salsa, and sweet banana off the buffet. We both had about a pound of food and was full.

Yelp
I love Terra! They have several locations in the Framingham area but this one has the largest and nicest space. I've come here many times to eat and brought family members and friends for their first time with Brazilian food and they all enjoy it. Timing is everything when it comes to buffet style meals, you gotta come strategically or you risk getting cold items or super well done meats. It's common sense that the less busy it is the less likely they will rotate expensive meats or other stuff on the buffet. There are times where some items weren't their best but many times I do enjoy the food like tonight. My plates consists of all the essentials of what I consider the ultimate Brazilian plate; First off, gotta have the rice and beans. Get feijoada instead of plain beans when available! Next is a little bit of greens, some salad add the beets, cucumber, and tomato slices. A little bit of collard greens if available. A small dollop of potato salad with the potato sticks. My main meats are Picanha Steak, Spicy Sausage, Lamb, and Chicken Heart. Loveeee chicken heart when it's nice and tender but there may be times where it's over cooked so ask. Next, top off your beans with Farofa (toasted yucca powder), grab some yucca fries, and definitely some fried plaintains. And finally scoop some pickled Brazilian biquinho peppers that add just the right amount of spice to each bite. And that's a meal I can have everyday for the rest of my life... They also have plenty of drink options including guaraná, a Brazilian soda, several juices like freshly squeezed orange, juice of acerola, juice of cashew fruit, passion fruit, many beers and cocktails to choose from. Try the caipirinha! Also a good selection of Brazilian desserts, that you should definitely get to-go for later. Overall, just excellent food and nice environment with super friendly service. They do live music on weekends and have outdoor space as well. I highly recommend Terra if you are new to Brazilian but try to avoid slow hours if you want the best quality and go for my plate of essentials!

Yelp
Gave them another try today again after some time and it's still the same the meat is ALWAYS DRY!!!! Too expensive for dry ass meat. The ox tail was pure salt! It didn't even have flavor just salt.

Yelp
I liked the cafeteria style ordering. They had the system down well. The food was tasty and there were lots of choices. A good meal at a good price.

Yelp
The only thing hold me back from a 5th star is the price for takeout. We are used to paying $16 for a to-go container that contains meat from the bbq... at this place they wouldn't make the to-go with the bbq so I had to make it myself (with much less food than the other places in Marlboro give) and it ended up costing way too much money. $30 for one small container of food is just ridiculous since most of it was rice and squash - I could've gone out for a decent steak dinner for this price. The woman cashing me out gave me some good advice - to have theme make the $12.99 to-go container and then make myself a bbq container and it should ended up costing me much less. The food is very good and very fresh. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The day I went in they had a beef with mushrooms, tilapia and shrimp stew, and fried tilapia as their buffet meat choices. This restaurant is not a typical restaurant. You do not get table service... and it is not rude that you don't. It is a serve yourself buffet only. They have a really nice outdoor patio you can chose to eat on and they also have a great bar area. This is a great addition overall to the area.

Yelp
Awesome! Got takeout here but like others have said, this place is very clean and pretty covid safe. The meat we ordered (beef ribs, chicken w bacon, and pork) was perfectly seasoned and had that smoky, "summer grilled" flavor that is impossible to find anywhere else. Would definitely come back again!!! Tip: Pickup for takeout is at the bar. I'd never been here and I wasn't quite sure where to go at first since nobody was at the host stand.

Yelp
This is by far my favorite restaurant. I love the vibes and the food is always amazing.

Yelp
Came here for a birthday celebration for my Brazilian friend and it turned out to be a plesant surprise. I will admit that I was not a huge fan of the fact that it is buffet style, but the food was delicious and the staff was very attentive. I had my first legit caipirinha (a delicious classic) and a big plate that I was somehow able to finish. Despite it being a buffet style restaurant with a pretty long line (it was around noon on a Saturday), the food managed to stay fresh and even warm until I got back to my table. I wasn't sure what to ask for in terms of meat, so I asked the staff for recommendations and he immediately hooked me UP. You could tell they know what they're doing and you can tell everyone in town knows too! Shoulda gone back for more cheese puffs, but I was more than satisfied with my plate. The only reason for my 4 stars is really the layout of it being a buffet place because that mean it was logistically difficult for my entire party to sit down and eat together. That being said, if you love good steak, a good cocktail, and the sweet sound of listening to people speaking Portuguese, definitely swing by! Obrigado!
google avatar

Kristen P.

Yelp
Really good Brazilian food, and the best caipirinhas in Worcester! Bartenders here are amazingly friendly; this is a great neighborhood spot to pop in and hang out at the bar. Large parking lot.
google avatar

Doc L.

Yelp
I've been here a couple of times now. I think the overall quality of their food is great! They always have a selection of meat that is cooked the way I like it (medium rare). All of the food on the buffet is fresh and is at the appropriate temperature. All the food is very tastey and great! My only negative comment is that after trying my best to not take too much from the buffet I still ended up spending $21.00 on lunch! That's twice the cost of eating at other places! Now, I understand that this is much better quality food but, who can afford to spend $20.00 on lunch all the time? I can't...
google avatar

Ally P.

Yelp
Overpriced! The roasted beef is good, at times dry as well as the roasted chicken. Buffet not impressive. The fries are good when hot. Discount after 9pm. I don't think it's worth the money. Nothing mouth watering. Have been a customer a few times but my last encounter was not worth it, just expensive for no reason.
google avatar

Leda B.

Yelp
Not only is the parking lot big, the selection of food is wonderful. Buffett style food and drinks after with a dessert display. Bunch of side choices and lots of meats to choose from whether your in the mood for steak or wings. Did I mention they have a bar? Yes they have a bar and the seating area is big as well. Don't worry if you have a big party. They will be able to handle it. Wonderful people and very clean place! I'm definitely coming back!
google avatar

Alexander J.

Yelp
Excellent for a quick bit or a good sit down dinner with friends . Everything is served cafeteria style and is always great. Food is priced per pound and there is a full bar as well. Definitely one of my favorite spots to eat at in Worcester. Selections of fire roasted meats and salad options and they have fish as well. I thoroughly enjoy eating here. Prices are right on point with the quality.
google avatar

Mike And Heather S.

Yelp
We went on a Tuesday night. It was empty. Maybe it's better on the weekends. There is a buffet with salad and sides. The gentleman at the meat counter was very nice. He took the time to go over all the meats they had to offer. Meat and sides were meh at best. One of the meats was extremely dry. You're plate gets weighed $8.99 per lb if you do both sides and meat. It was a pretty cheap date! There was a bar, but we ate in the restaurant side. One plate and we had our fill. The total for dinner and two sodas was $25. Overall I wasn't blown away, but if you are looking for a fair price to fill up this is probably a good option.
google avatar

Steve O.

Yelp
Again this place was awesome! Plenty of parking which is important to me! The Flan was the BEST!!!! I made sure I took some home!!!
google avatar

Ashley B.

Yelp
We have visited here quite a few times now and everytime has been consistent. The staff is always friendly and checks up on you to make sure you're enjoying your food. The food here is great. There is a diverse selection of sides, catering to all parties. My personal favorite are the fried plantains, but I have had some wonderful other veggie sides as well. The meat selection is also great. The atmosphere is casual. They also sell candy in the front and have some delicious looking desserts in the dessert case at the end. It is an enjoyable place to go. I always leave full and content. Try it...and get a glass of cashew juice.
google avatar

F S.

Yelp
The time and Day are definitely a key factor of how the quality of food will be, if you go there around lunch almost every time you'll be getting a good meal. The staff there are super friendly and helpful . I've been here when it has been very slow and the quality of the food wasn't as good as it was when they are busier and always refilling with fresh food. Over all if you want a quick and fairly priced meal customized by yourself then this is the place.

Yelp
We went to this restaurant last night with another couple and had a fabulous time. Let me preface this by saying that I really enjoy South American food after living there for a year. We have also been to some swanky Brazilian steakhouses in cruise ships. While this is not a swanky place, the food was excellent, the wait staff was really attentive, and the overall value was tremendous. I had both the lamb and the sirloin steak which you pay for by the pound and then bring it to your table. It was delicious prepared. My wife was told that they had run out of Chardonnay but a few minutes later the manager came over with a new bottle for her to try. Apparently they were changing over to all Chilean selections. Every staff member we met was both friendly and professional. The manager made it a point to find out how our meal was on the way out. A great dining experience and we will definitively be back.

Kelsey D.

Yelp
We love Brazilian food and eat it often. I was not impressed. Also, they have "masks" set up for people that don't wear one inside; they are made of paper towels. Although they seemed to making appearances of taking precautions, I wasn't convinced. Also, they're food had a lot of saffron in it; way more than is customary. Probably won't be back any time soon.
google avatar

Ravuth O.

Yelp
I like it. Just very expensive if you eat everyday. Have been here for lunch at work almost every day
google avatar

Paige A.

Yelp
Went here for lunch and it was good. They had a buffet style where you pick what foods you want including the many different meats. At the end you weigh out your plate and pay how much based on the weight. I loved the Pão de queijo and the potato salad. I'm not a huge carnivore so I probably missed out on some of the delicious meat but the sides were good. The biggest flaw is some of the sides were cold but the flavors were good. I'd go back if I was in the area but they are for sure competing with a lot of delicious restaurants around them!
google avatar

Krizia S.

Yelp
Great brazilian restaurant. If you know what you want you're going to have a good plate with good food. I love that they have great jugo de parcha (passion fruit juice) so delicious. The cake wasn't all that but it was fluffy. Great place to eat! Will be coming back really soon.
google avatar

Yelp
I went to Terra Brasilis on Shrewsbury Street yesterday for the first time and was amazed by the service! When my boyfriend and I got there we were greeted by 2 very nice hostess who asked us if she have been there before and if we understood the process. We said we did not and so one of the girls walked us to the buffet table - Explaining that you serve yourself anything you'd like, it is priced by the pound, you weigh your food and you can sit anywhere you'd like, and to make sure to keep our ticket. There was an abundance of food and so I go a little bit of everything. I was also very excited to find out that they make Caipirinha in their bar- Brazil's version of a Mojito. We loved them! Definitely the best Caipirinha in town! I would definitely come back, everyone was amazing, and the food was really good. Make sure to have some Flan or any of their desserts, before you go! Obrigado!

David L.

Yelp
The food is great for the value. You get a lot especially if u dine in. The bbq I ordered on takeout tho wasn't fresh especially the beef I'd ordered tasted quite old. Sausage and chicken were just eh. Potato salad was solid trash too.
google avatar

Robert S.

Yelp
The food here is amazing. The picanha is the best meat there. However when going we were told the buffet was $8 a pound so I only got meat and they ended up charging $14 a pound. I recommend getting fries or something with the meat just a small amount so they don't almost charge you double it doesn't make sense
google avatar

Sara S.

Yelp
This place is just AWFUL!!!!! OVERPRICED & PRETENTIOUS!!!!! I CAN'T BELIEVE the price of the food!!!! My plate with NO MEAT costs $29!!!!!!!!!!!! I almost put it down & said.. U can keep it!!!!! Don't waste your time or your money here people!!! U will be Disappointed!!! The way they charge customers is RIDICULOUS!!! Even the little candy's on the way out... almost $4 for a chocolate bar!!! $29 for vegetables..Boooooo!!!! I'm still in Shock!!! Keep driving down the road to Pampas Brazilian restaurant.. sooooo much better... all u can eat salad for $12!! Thats what im talking about!!!!!

Faith P.

Yelp
One of my favorite places to get Brazilian food now! They are clean, quick and have friendly staff. Steak is amazing & flavorful and the atmosphere is welcoming
google avatar

Jeff B.

Yelp
Fortunately, my expectations were in-check when I heard that it is a serve-yourself type of affair where you have to pay for what you eat however although the appetizer portion of lamb was cooked appropriately and not overdone, my Dad was hurt by the fact that the lamb in the buffet was quite overdone and he felt it needed gravy and even A-1 which sadly bastardized the delicacy. Then, he wanted some au jus or gravy but the language barrier issue which is an impediment to one's having fun here made matters worse when they could not accommodate him. My Dad just did not want to choke on the meat since it was so dry; it was also hard to get Silva and Wollaston's attention as the bar was overwrought with some obstreperous regulars. Once I had about 4 or 5 drinks in me that sort of atmosphere became tolerable but all-in-all I personally without my Dad would go back but would make sure I drank a lot. Even though Wollaston and Silva's attention favored the others at the end of the bar, we tipped Silva well because she was so personable as was Wollaston but (the staff) at the weigh station and all around need to master the English language.
google avatar

Maria S.

Yelp
The food is always fresh, healthy and delicious. They have a lot of selection and good price. They have a plate to go that we can eat for lunch and dinner. They have the best dessert around the area, I just can't get enough of it. The staff is always nice and happy. I am a frequent customer.
google avatar

Melanny C.

Yelp
Delicious food, great service, and good ambience. Everyone was helpful and kind. Definitely a gem on the Shrewsbury strip.

Arianna N.

Yelp
This restaurant is a hidden gem! Today is the first time coming here and my family and I loved the food! It's a buffet pay by pound but you can get a whole plate of food for under $10 that will fill you up! I would recommend anyone who loves quality food with good flavor!
google avatar

Jessica M.

Yelp
I'm not Brazilian but my girlfriend is, we always have a hard time finding a good Brazilian spot in Worcester & we both loved it here, food was amazing! Buffet style, pay per pound. We got a ton of food for $44, including drinks and desserts, we had enough food to eat for lunch the following day as well. The people working at the restaurant were so nice! Very friendly! This place was immaculate! We will definitely be back again!
google avatar

Keith W.

Yelp
This isn't a service at the table restaurant. You walk right up to the stand that has all the side items and you pick what you want. Then you go to the meat section and pick any of the different types of meat they have. The beef, sausage and chicken are delicious! If your a carnivore, this is the place for you!!!! I highly recommend!
google avatar

Mary Ellen J.

Yelp
Food was not too salty, as we have experienced at other Brazilian BBQs. 8.99 per pound. Friendly staff and very helpful. Very clean. Large selection of salad items and other foods. Yum- chicken wrapped in bacon, sausage and a couple types of beef. We will return to this place!
google avatar

Matt K.

Yelp
Went for lunch with some coworkers. The staff was great. Very friendly. The overall feedback on the food though was that everything was cold. The meats were tough and seemed to be over cooked. Not sure if that's a testament to the quality of meat used or that they just weren't cooked right. It wasn't just one meat either, we had all types - beef, pork, chicken, etc. all of it was dry. Disappointing. Not likely to be back based on the discussion with the other folks.
google avatar

Wanderson S.

Yelp
Good food, good ambience great customer service. The place to go to get a nice steak or any meat your heart desires.

Tania B.

Yelp
Delicious typical Brazilian food. Good service and ambient. Weekends are dancing Brazilian music! Love it!
google avatar

Graeme E.

Yelp
Very good but nothing that unique or flavorful. Food was fairly priced. I brought vegetarian wife with two kids, she enjoyed her food and I was able to stuff my plate w various meats. I recommend trying their passion fruit drink when you go.

S P.

Yelp
I was one of the customers at Terra Brasilis, I would stop by every week until they start overcharging for plates, stating that I had too much meat in my container. Once they charged me $30 for a container that had more items from the salad bar than from the meat counter. It's ridiculous, for this price I would rather go to a better quality steakhouse. Front staff don't care when you complain. I stopped going there and whenever I decide to have Brazilian food, I just stop by Pampas Restaurant a few blocks down the road.

Kim F.

Yelp
My husband and I went here and was very disappointed! It was our first time there and no one explained how it worked so we just got in line and grabbed a plate of food.... We get up to the counter and asked how it worked the girl couldn't speak a word of English so she called someone else over that tried to explain in broken English. All the food we got from the buffet was cold and the meat that was in the buffet was cold and dry like it was sitting all day. The other meat was pretty good although some pieces were really fatty! I had one plate and my husband had two plates and it cost almost $75. To pay that much for just ok food is crazy so we will not be returning.
google avatar

Cucci C.

Yelp
place is a joke. cafeteria style and pay by the pound. no waiters waitresses just all non-english speaking workers who couldn't even understand i wanted to pay for 2 plates together. most of the meat i was given was all fat and gross. no one offered us more water ever i guess i would have to go back up to the counter with my cup and ask for more. forget this place even exists

Natalin P.

Yelp
One of the best brasilian buffets in the area. The fresh meat is high quality and delicious. The rest of the buffet food is pretty good, but the meat is the main attraction if you're going to bother going.

Micha Z.

Yelp
Very very disappointing. We usually love Brazilian food, but this was not good. The salad tasted like Someone poured a container of salt on it. The meat was very dry, and cold. They didn't have a lot of variety when it came to the meat either. We were in and out in 10 minutes because we did not even enjoy the food. Pampas down the street is way better.

Yelp
First time dining was this past Wednesday for lunch with a friend (his first time as well). We both enjoyed the experience. There was enough buffet selection, food was fresh, large selection of meats. Everything we tried was tasty and well prepared. Excellent coffee with our desserts, which we're also delicious with generous proportions. Staff was very friendly. Dining area is nicely arranged with good ambience. We both agreed that we'll be returning and introducing others to this restaurant.
