Been meaning to check this place out for some time and it was long overdue. Yummy tacos and drinks, great staff and atmosphere. Will definitely be returning to try some more apps and drinks. I had steak tacos and really liked the seasoning. He had the pastor and enjoyed the grilled pineapple. My pina colada was perfect as was the margarita :)

I’m temporarily in Chicago and it can be hard to find good, affordable food when you’re traveling away from home. I went here three times in five days. Edgar (the owner) seems to do everything in the place. From host to server, and from cook to busboy. I could tell the food was going to be delicious just by the chips. My friends agreed! If you’re looking for non-TexMex Mexican food, I’d say give this place a try. My chimichanga with birria was perfect every time.

The food was absolutely delicious, with fresh and flavorful ingredients in every dish. The chips were perfectly crisp, and the salsa was fresh and had a wonderful flavor. Our dishes, from the perfectly seasoned meats to the rich sauces, were outstanding. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive throughout our meal. It's clear that the management cares about the customer experience. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone seeking an authentic and enjoyable Mexican meal. We can't wait to come back.

Tried a new restaurant tonight with a friend. The staff was great. Food options and pricing very much affordable. Food was authentic and amazingly good. They have some of the best, top shelf tequilas. Plenty of TVs to enjoy the games with great music! Customer service top tier, food delicious, esthetic is artwork. Edgar was hands on with the drinks. They have a margarita you can’t say no to! I can’t wait to see their happy hour menu soon! Prices are reasonable without happy hour prices! Try their one and only bottles of Mezcal! They’re open late as well!

I ordered for the first time from Terrace Cantina last night. I ordered the cheese enchilada dinner for carryout. I get to the hotel to enjoy my meal and I have to say this was the BEST enchilada Ive had in YEARS. The flavor was a melody of goodness. ❤️ The verde sauce was packed with flavor and just a hint of spice. The red hot sauce on the side was my favorite (because its more spicy) and the green hot sauce was refreshing and good also. The rice, the beans, EVERYTHING was full of authentic Mexican Flavor. Im glad I tried the restaurant, they did not disappoint. The owner/manager is friendly as he greeted and saluted me in my way in and out. Very passionate and hardworking with what they are doing there. Thank you for the great experience, I will be back! 11/10! 💯💯💯

Excellent spot for lunch or supper. Well priced and SO fresh. Had the chicken burrito and it might have been the best one I've ever had. Free chips and salsa when you get in, like many Mexican restaurants. This one sticks out as a superior option though. Nothing negative to say. Host was amazing. Atmosphere was awesome. Will return.. often.

Went with our friends who recommended this place to us and it was great and the food was delicious. We met the owner Edddy from my friend Tony who lives in the area. Service was excellent, place was bright and played some lively atmosphere music. Parking is plenty on the strip mall, Everyone ordered Margaritas and it was very good, then chips and salsa was plenty , We all ordered Ala Carte of different tacos and also some shrimp Ceviche's, overall will try again if in the area for some more Mexican food!

Folks, this is a hidden gem. Food is delicious, authentic and fresh, drinks are excellent and the service is beyond attentive. I stopped in tonight to get some carry out for my family and got the added bonus of a margarita at the bar with the nicest people and best service as our order was being prepared. Atmosphere is great and very welcoming, pristinely clean. Go and enjoy Terrace Cantina - you will not be disappointed!

I love this place. The outdoor area has tables in the shade during lunch. The ground beef enchiladas with salsa verde are delicious. The rice and beans taste excatly as they should at a Chicago area taqueria. My wife likes the carne asada tacos. There's some chewy meat but there always is at taco shops. The frozen strawberry margarita is like a smoothy (she'd try a non-frozen version next time). Not much liquor but refreshing. Same for the mojito. The servers are always pleasant and the kitchen can be a little slow, but worth the wait.

Amazing food! Fresh mole, homemade by a local from Puebla Mexico. Family feel and great additive free tequila options. It's a hidden gem for sure. A must visit!

Looking for a different experience while back in town and did I. Terrace Cantina is a neighborhood restaurant that anyone staying in the local hotels wanting Mexican food should try. Sat at the bar and had a jalapeño margarita which was one of the best I have had. The service was great and talked to locals at the bar. I felt welcome while eating a great dinner. The guac and chips were fresh and the chicken Tinga enchiladas were excellent. Salsa came in squeeze bottles and would have rather have a bowl but in fairness I did not ask. Will for sure go back.

We went to enjoy a little bit of family time in Chicago and I always try to make the time to visit the old coworkers fam that made me who I am today. The portions of our food were huge and had great flavor! We had to bring it home for round two. The staff and service were quick, helpful and responsive! If you want to go out with friends for a great night out or for a date, evening into night time is the way to go. Let's go!!

My absolute favorite Mexican food. The guacamole is to die for and all their food is amazing! its such a fun place and environment, they always have great music. Also the service is great, Edgar and Carlos do an amazing job.

Wanted some Mexican! wanted to check this place out.Ambience is nice, small but clean. I ordered a strawberry margarita and it was delicious!!! definitely can taste the alcohol i think lol. I ordered the 3 tacos below and as you came with lots of food i was only able to eat 1 1/2 . All the food was seasoned a little heavy handed on the onions... but will definitely be back for those 12 dollar margaritas . Our waitress was very nice and friendly and attentive.

Yesterday, I dined for the first time at this 2 month old establishment. I ordered the flautas, Guacamole, and queso fundido with Chorizo for my appetizers. Also, ordered 2 steak tacos. Everything from start to finish, including the bar service was EXCEPTIONAL. The owner (Edgar) introduced himself. He provided some background information about the restaurant - additional features he seeks to implement such as live music and healthy eating options (salads). Edgar and his team made my entire dining experience as great as it gets. I look forward to returning so that I may enjoy more of their delicious items and entrées. The food was so delicious, I didn't waste a second on taking pictures since my mouth and stomach had my fork and hands on cruise control. I'll share pictures next time.

Excellent food and drinks. You have to try the birria egg rolls, margaritas, and mezcalitas. In house recipes. You won't be disappointed!

It may well be good when you want to kick back a few drinks at night, but I came for lunch and it was empty, full of weird bags, and a couple of people (employees?) who just gave me the side-eye. I couldn't figure out if I could order food and I confess it was weird enough that I didn't want to. Don't think of it as a lunch spot, I guess.

Guacamole was amazing and so fresh. Tacos and chimichanga were excellent. Carlos does a great job in the kitchen and service very pleasant. Decor colorful, neat and clean.

I have mixed opinions on the restaurant - due to our service - but good food bumped up the rating. We were there this past weekend and there is no true person to seat you and maybe that is the issue....yet someone did bring us menus. We literally sat there for 10 min before we were able to get someone to serve us. It was odd b/c there were definitely two waitresses who could have helped but didn't. Moving on - the food was really good. We had the spicy cucumber margarita and the coconut one. Both good. The chips were good but the standard salsa is extremely mild - so definitely ask for the bottles of salsa. Those had some good kick! For entrees - we got the chorizo burrito bowl and the shrimp diablo. Both dishes were really good - and the diablo is very spicy so be sure you can handle it if you order it. My husband loved it! They have a nice outdoor seating area that we would love to try in better weather. We would be back - just hope for better service.

I went to eat with a friend, and we had a great time. They have a great selection of food and drinks. They have a lot of tequilas that most other places just don't carry. The food was amazing! I will go back next time I'm in the area.

So I decided to get the second most expensive entree on the menu. It definitely did not disappoint, the steak was cooked to a great temperature and flavor.

Great place! Food was great, def have the birria eggrolls, they were great! Selection of tequila was very nice and they were super helpful choosing something to drink. Everyone was so very nice and talkative! Loved it!

They were open pretty late. I think they're open until 3 AM. The waitress was really nice. We got service quickly. My friends love their food. I wish there was a little bit more vegan options. I only had a veggie taco and rice, but it was delicious.

Went on a Saturday afternoon and the restaurant was nearly empty. One of the last warm days of the year so we sat on the patio. Margaritas were tasty, food was better than other Mexican restaurants I've tried in the area. Service was great and I'd be remiss not to mention the guacamole, salsa and sauces which were 10/10. Will definitely be back.

We were here for a quick stop. Food was great. We waited for 13mins before our server came to get our orders. And another 15mins for our food to be served.

The food was delicious, and I was very satisfied with my choice. I ordered the flautas de pollo, and my boyfriend ordered the Mexican steak. I would definitely order my dish again. The server forgot a couple of things when we ordered, which is why I gave it 4 stars, but overall, it was great.

Today, I dined at Terrace Cantina and found the service to be both fast and friendly. Their chips were fresh and crunchy. I thought the salsa, while good, could have had a little more flavor. The burrito bowl I ordered was visually appealing, tasted great, and was economically priced. If you're in search of a casual restaurant that offers good quality food without breaking the bank, then give them try.

I visited this establishment for the first time and had one of the worst, most blatantly discriminatory experiences I've ever encountered. From the moment we walked in, the employee Poncho was rude and dismissive toward us (two Black customers), while being perfectly pleasant and attentive to a table of non-Black customers. We were denied food service outright Poncho made it clear we wouldn't be served any food, yet oddly allowed a waiter to bring out drinks for us anyway. Meanwhile, the table next to us had their full food orders brought out without issue. The fact that they thought we would sit there and pay for drinks after being so aggressively and rudely denied food is honestly insulting. To make matters worse, when we decided to leave (without touching the drinks at all), someone actually ran after us as if we were trying to dine and dash. Humiliating and completely unacceptable. I've already contacted the business directly and unsurprisingly....no response from a manager. After looking through other reviews, I see this kind of treatment is unfortunately a pattern at this place. Take your business elsewhere. No one deserves to be treated like this.

This is by far the best homemade authentic place anywhere around the area. I can't tell you how amazing this food is and the ownership is super friendly. You have to try this food!!!! I would give this place 10 stars if it were an option!!!

First off I did order my food to go, but the restaurant itself is very aesthetic on the inside, kind of on the smaller side for dinning but they do have a cute outdoor patio, the bar however is definitely the feature of the restaurant. The food however was not what I expected, I was looking for a little more authentic flavors, don't get me wrong it wasn't terrible just not what I was expecting at the time of me trying. Overall though the staff was friendly from what I observed, while I waited to pick up my order.

The food is excellent, very fresh made to order. I love the apps, the tacos are top notch, and the cerviche was some of the freshest I have had. The staff is very friendly. most extensive tequila selection around.

To start the food is always amazing, and the atmosphere is even better great people and if you get a chance to meet one or both of the owners they are fun amazing people so friendly and personable. I recommend trying the Horchata martini it hits the spot every time.

Overpriced subpar food. This place is Tijuana flats rebranded as a new restaurant. They have good Ambiance, wish the food lives up to it, but was thoroughly disappointed

Came here late night after a family party. 12:30 am to be exact. Walked in to an empty restaurant besides one table. After walking up to the bar a guy gets up from the table where it looks like they are all having a few drinks with a group of people. He says they are closed. It just seemed like we were a Bother walking in to begin with. Not welcoming in the slightest. Unfortunately from this interaction we will not give this place another try.

We had a late lunch at 2:30pm. There was only one other person eating. We started with the nacho chips, which were heated and seasoned, with salsa and several sauce choices. 5/5. I ordered the nacho chips, and when it came, it was enough to feed 3 people. 5/5. Shannon had a veggie burrito which was enough for 2 people. 5/5. The check out was simple by scanning the QR Code on the bill. 5/5. This has wonderful food, attentive service and laid back. Nice ambiance. Highly recommend.

Went there for lunch a couple of days ago. Food was good and reasonably priced. Server was attentive and our drinks were always full. Will head back when I have a chance.

This is a nice, friendly casual restaurant. Ate here on Saturday about 5:00 and there were just a few tables taken. The server was nice. Unfortunately, I wasn't crazy about the food. The margarita wasn't too tasty, kind of bland. The main thing was the fajitas. I've been having fajitas for over 30 years, and I've never had them in a tomato sauce before. It was really disappointing. It wasn't bad, but more like a stew. My husband's enchiladas were good I'm not sure I'd go back, since there are lots of other options. I wanted to like it.

Nice Mexican restaurant with attractive decor and a bunch of TVs for sports. We've eaten here three times and it's never crowded. Food is good, though the rice and beans on our plate were barely warm, like they had been sitting for a while.

Great food, nice owners definitely reccomend the quesabirrias and tacos de asada you won't regret it!

The food is unreal, the drinks are even better. Prices are super super fair. The service is always incredible. It's our go to. The patio is great in the summer and allows dogs which is great. We have very high standards when it comes to Mexican food and this place always knocks it out of the park.

Let's start with I love the mural on the wall it's beautiful and combines notable people with Chicago. I also like that there are tvs all around so you can catch a glimpse of a game no matter where you're seated. The bathrooms are tidy. The frozen margarita wasn't bad. Too bad this isn't all it takes to run a good restaurant. NOW LETS GET TO WHAT I HATE!!! The food was ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE I'm not sure if they don't use seasoning because they think their clientele won't like it but everything I ordered was FLAVORLESS imagine eating at a Mexican restaurant and the food has no flavor no taste whatsoever. The items I ordered didn't taste like authentic Mexican food. My child's chicken strips looked like little surfboards he couldn't even bite into them. They were thin, hard, & extremely overcooked. He was only able to eat his fries. I was going to tell the waitress but just decided to leave all this trash she served, pay, and never return. I was appalled that they even served us the chicken strips that looked like that. I was highly disappointed at the food & then there was the service. Oh boy, poor Lilly (younger woman I guess that's her name she never said it I just saw it on the receipt) well she wasn't friendly she seemed liked she didn't want to be there no smiles no greeting no thank you as we left in fact she never came to ask how the food was but if I served garbage I guess I wouldn't come back to check on my customers either. I really wanted to like this place especially with the high reviews which is why I picked it to take my husband on his birthday. Needless to say his Birthday lunch was ruined, we left hungry and disappointed and no one bothered to say HEY YOU DIDN'T EAT YOUR FOOD IS EVERYTHING OKAY HOW CAN WE MAKE THIS RIGHT??!! Nope no one cared. If I was the owner or manager I would personally go to each table to make my guests feel welcomed and ask how their meal is/was. Don't leave that to your servers especially if they don't have the desire or training to be upbeat and customer focused. It's small enough to check in with your guests and make sure they are enjoying their meal & the experience. Going to Terrace Cantina was a waste of time and money. Plus side Stan's Donuts is right next door & they are simply delicious!

Should have gone to Taco Bell instead Water took 10 mins after ordering My drink never arrived My initial order did not arrive but I found out 5 mins after ordering it was not available (There were only 10 people in the restaurant) Food arrived out of order, 1 dish of 3 and then 5 mins later Drunk people at bar garnered more interest than other customers. We were there for a birthday meal which in hindsight I am embarrassed at the choice. Other than that, I learned something and that is I won't be going there ever again

Order was not delivered. The restaurant may or may not make great food but this is the last time I'll try.

Food was generous in size and excellent. Burrito and quesadilla and salsa and rice and beans were all very good. Guacamole could use more seasoning, it tasted like pumpkin to me. They struggled with ringing me up and with the $5 off of $30 which I never even got which is on the app. The app is still a work in progress but the food was great so I will return.

Chips and salsa were served immediately. Agreeing with other reviewers, I found the salsa to be rather mild (but you can't please everyone). It would be nice if the plates were preheated as both the beans and rice cooled off quickly, detracting from the well-plated service. Overall a nice meal, fairly priced.

Our food was made to order, hot and delicious. I got the quesabarria plate. Absolutely amazing. My son got the steak taco dinner. The elotes was fresh like eating corn off the cob with delicious cheese. Our first time and will definitely be going back.

We recently found this place and it is phenomenal. Not only is the food great, but the staff are incredible. They recognize repeat customers, take time to get to know you, and genuinely care about your experience. We love to sit on the patio, but the bar is also a great spot. Can't express enough how refreshing it is to find a place that treats you like a person and not a transaction. We also love that you can get quality food without breaking the bank. Highly suggest the steak or shrimp fajitas and the birria egg rolls. All their margaritas are great but we love the berries and basil the most. So glad to find a place we want to support and look forward to going back to! Well done Terrace Cantina!!
