Best Wine Bars in Phoenix, Arizona - Eater Phoenix

"Terroir Wine Pub in Scottsdale is for the uninitiated or novice who wants to try the wine bar experience for the first time. The patio is unassuming and there is a down-to-earth vibe that is rare for Scottsdale. The wine menu changes everyday and there are also fun theme nights that keep customers guessing. The owners reward the environmental-friendly who choose to ride their bikes with a discount on wine." - Rudri Patel

I recently moved to the area and was really looking forward to exploring new places as a single woman getting to know the city. I came into this establishment drawn by the live music—it was lovely, and for a moment, I felt at ease. As someone who just finished a performance residency in Las Vegas, I genuinely appreciated the atmosphere and was excited to support the space. Unfortunately, my evening took a turn that left me feeling humiliated and deeply uncomfortable. I arrived just as the kitchen was closing and made a point to ask multiple times if it was still okay to order a glass of wine. I didn’t want to overstep or cause any issues. The bartender reassured me it was fine, so I ordered and quietly enjoyed the rest of the evening. When I closed out, I tipped $15 on a $30 bill—not because the service was exceptional, but because I believe in acknowledging hospitality and effort. As I was finishing my glass of wine, I was suddenly told I needed to leave. Meanwhile, a loud and disruptive group remained at the end of the bar. When I asked why they weren’t being asked to leave, I was told they were “wine club members.” That answer felt dismissive and unfair. Then I was accused of knocking over a place setting, when all I had done was try to move a personal item from the bar—something minor that became exaggerated, it seemed, to justify the treatment I received. I’ve worked as a front-of-house, bar, and operations manager in multiple fine dining establishments. I understand closing procedures, guest etiquette, and what respectful service looks like. And I can also recognize when someone is being treated differently. As a Black woman, I left that night feeling targeted and unwelcome. The disparity in how I was treated compared to the other patrons—who did not look like me—was too clear to ignore. This was more than a bad night. It was a painful reminder that bias still shows up in ways that are subtle, but powerful. I hope the management takes these concerns seriously and works to ensure all guests are treated with equal dignity and respect.

I’m heartbroken to be updating this review with yet another disturbing experience involving the same staff member who treated me unfairly during my last visit. After some time had passed, I decided to give the establishment another chance, hoping that I might be seated by a different, more respectful server and perhaps finally enjoy what had initially drawn me in—the music and atmosphere. Unfortunately, the same woman who previously singled me out was behind the bar. The moment she saw me, she loudly called out across the bar, “Goodbye,” despite me having said nothing to her and simply entering the space. I quietly turned around and walked out, unwilling to subject myself to further discomfort. I stood outside in the shopping plaza on my phone, trying to find another nearby place to dine when—shockingly—this same woman followed me outside of the restaurant and began speaking at me in an aggressive tone. The only thing I could clearly make out was her saying she was "sick of me" and that she was "calling the police." At this point, I hadn’t even stepped back inside, nor was I doing anything other than standing in a shared public space, peacefully on my phone. She then proceeded to take photos of me—again, for what reason, I honestly do not know. The entire interaction was extremely inappropriate, aggressive, and, frankly, felt like continued racial targeting and harassment. As a Black woman who simply wanted to enjoy a peaceful evening, the fact that I am still being singled out by this employee—even outside of the restaurant—speaks volumes. I have never experienced anything quite like this in my years of dining, managing, or even working in hospitality. The behavior was unprovoked, unprofessional, and unacceptable. This is no longer just about poor service. This is about safety, dignity, and being made to feel unwelcome and unsafe in a public space—again, by the same person. I’m sharing this so others are aware that I reached out to ownership via email and social media to rectify this prior to leaving those reviews…. No guest should ever be treated this way.

Absolutely outstanding ambiance, awesome live entertainment, great food and WINE! Highly recommend!

Google
I’m giving this gorgeous place 5 stars because of the wine and ambiance. They had a musician tonight who sang like an angel. My friend and I shared a chicken Caesar wrap which was good. The only thing that could be improved on was the service from the staff. We were never asked if we wanted or needed anything. We had to get their attention to order wine and food. Otherwise a great experience and I would recommend.

Google
I guess they close early on Thursdays? Got here at 8:15 bartender said they were closed already. Hours in the site say they close at 9. There has been an increasingly nonappreciation of locals in this community. Who stay here in the summer. Have fun being slow in the summers because we won’t come back.

Google
It's got that Cheers vibe in Scottsdale, just around the corner from Paradise Valley. They've got a cool setup where you can bring your own bottle, and they'll open it for you – way cheaper than buying a couple of glasses! Plus, the people there are a blast to hang out with.

We had a wonderful time at Terroir after an event. We enjoyed amazing wines and great food! We especially loved the fabulous singer, she had an amazing voice and great songs. Looking forward to going again!

Yelp
The owner is amazing. Sooooooo much wine knowledge and always the same kindness for all patrons. There is some shake up in staff, but she/owner has it well under control. The owner wants to keep the happy vibes along with wine knowledge to help customers make the best decisions. She's awesome and we are so lucky to have her. Just love this place, the wine, vibes and food. Can't wait to get back! Cheers!

Yelp
What can I say this place used to be great but cool friendly people that used to work here have been replaced by a blonde short lady who walks around with her ear bud in talking on the phone as she ignores the customers at the bar and then shoos away customers who walked in at 6.05pm when the place closes at 7pm. According to the rude wine bar lady she already had "last call". Huh??? Does she own the place ? If she does she should fire herself. I won't be back. On the plus side they have a decent wine list. Yelp
Service was great from Michael, friendly with a smile and quick! Really nice atmosphere and wonderful live music...fun evening!!

Yelp
Love stopping here for a casual place to enjoy people, music, nibbles and sips. It's a great date spot or a casual place to enjoy your book on the sofa in the corner. That's what I love it for! Hoping that they will bring in non-alcoholic wines and bubbly in the future! Enjoy the happy refresher in the meanwhile!

Yelp
Good food and excellent wine selection. Live music during certain hours. Friendly staff. My only complaint would be the high priced happy hour. Yes, I know it's Scottsdale but $12 for a glass of wine and $10 for bites is pricey for 3-5 pm. I can name 20+ other places that have half that price for wine and apps during happy hour in Scottsdale.

Yelp
Every time I come here- the service is awesome! They are so friendly and I love the Prosecco. It is delish. Actually, drinking a glass right now. Great little bites if you don't feel like dining somewhere. Tons of TVs. Great upscale neighborhood wine bar. Always, enjoyable. Cheese plates are yummy! Hummus- delish. Served with carrots, cucumbers and pita. They also have little truffles that you can buy individually which is so fun and perfect if you have a little sweet tooth.

Samantha H.

Yelp
This place sucks without Jesse behind the bar. The vibes are just bad now. Employees are nice. Owner isn't.

Yelp
I went there on a Saturday night and I thought it was so incredibly relaxing. We sat outside on the patio with the misters on. There was music inside but we chose to sit outside. At one point the staff opened the door so the music could be heard outside. I also learned that live music is available I believe they said Wednesday-Saturday. It's hard nowadays to find live music and there is nothing like live music. I ordered the chicken salad wrap with light dressing with a side salad. It tasted fresh and light for a hot summer night. We stayed until closing and I never felt rushed. The waitress was attentive but not intrusive. I wish I could remember her name as she deserves recognition. There many options for wine to select from. I will definitely be back. It is a hidden gem tucked away in a shopping center. You could miss it as it is in a large parking lot in the corner so take your time looking for it. Also there is a lot of parking which can be tricky to find parking at places in Scottsdale, especially if you are looking in old-town scottsdale. Not having to get aggravated looking for parking is a huge plus for me.

Yelp
A lovely wine bar! The bartender was very friendly and helpful. Their standard pour is 9 ounces which is nice. We really enjoyed ourselves here. One little side note that I found odd: they charge extra for carrots and cucumbers on their hummus plate. I've never heard of this before. Lol

Yelp
Pros -dog friendly -great service -fun selection of beers and wines Cons -none when we went!

Yelp
Cute wine pub with a nice outdoor seating area and reasonable prices. My mom, sister, and I came here and we all started with a wine fight which was 3, 3 ounce pours for $18 which we all enjoyed. They had a nice selection to choose from. We also ordered the Mexican salad, the Celtic flatbread, prosciutto bruschetta and burrata/bacon bruschetta. The Celtic flatbread was by far the tastiest thing we ordered and all 3 of us agreed. The salad was pretty good nothing special. The bruschettas were so so and not particularly flavorful. We also noted that the online menu and prices were slightly different than the in person menu so take note of that. Our server was very nice and overall would definitely come back to try some more food and wine.

Yelp
The service was amazing. The place was packed and there was only one server, but he still didn't lack behind. We ordered the fromage plate which was delicious. We sat outside on the patio and everyone seemed to having a great time. I'd recommend the Pinot Grigio I loved it! Not too sweet and not too dry

Yelp
Terroir took great care of my husband's surprise birthday party. Jesse was top notch in providing suggestions of food and wine, took care of all the details and their private party room was perfect. Still receiving rave reviews from our guests. Thank you, Jesse and team. We will certainly be back.

Yelp
Great spot for wide selection of wines. Good wine and not snobby at all. They have comfort seating, inside or out. Friendly staff and cheese boards. Will go back!

Yelp
Good place for a glass or bottle of wine - but I am not sure about the food. Yesterday was our first time back since pre- Covid days. At 4:00 pm it was quiet and pleasant. Beware - at 5:30 the "entertainment" began. The noise level drove us out We all order sliders from the happy hour menu - pathetic is the best one word description. The buns were stale; the puller pork was dry and lacking ant sauce We were going to order something else but then the "music" arrived. In fairness I should add that we were senior citizens who sought to have a summer catch-up conversation If you want a nice selection of wine either by the glass or bottle I can still recommend the place. For food try Wildflower a few doors away

Yelp
Ok. I want to give 5 stars because we had some fun, BUT we only had one wine and didn't try anything else. It was a "quickie" to hear the acoustic guitar guy, who was great! The service was fun. I love a bartender that bites back in a fun way! We will return and hopefully to increase this to 5 stars! Keep up with the live music. That grabbed us for at least a wine... :)

Yelp
Went here yesterday for the first time - of course I saw their reviews and because Roka Akor was closed up the road, we decided to stop in for a drink. We were immediately greeted upon walking in, and I freaking love that! So right away I was in a good mood! I ordered to glasses of their happy hour cab and she had the orange blossom on tap. Super cute atmosphere, reminds me a ton of Rift Wine and Tap down n south Scottsdale; only real difference I noticed was this place has a wine locker room for regulars to store their bottles! I remember Damian and John talking about doing that at Rift as well... Overall a really good experience, the tenders were mega friendly and inviting; place was busy and seemed to being "the spot" for a drink in the area which I can completely understand why. One definite advantage they have over rift is they serve food, which is huge! Cool bar menu for food - nothing special but ppl were eating so I assume it is done right... we didn't eat but will next time. Look forward to being back again soon, was gunna go today but didn't feel like drinking and driving since I had already been at the vig. Will more than likely go tomorrow! Highly recommend

Yelp
they had great wine and amazing happy hour deals! Their staff was super attentive and very friendly. The atmosphere was also very lively and comfortable. I would definitely come back here again.

Yelp
Not the best place of your hungry but have some meat and cheese plates. They don't carry Haymaker anymore. My favorite Savignon blanc. So I don't make there as often as before.

Yelp
My best friend and I stopped in here for a glass of wine and loved it! There was live music, great drinks, tvs playing sports, and attentive service. Can't wait to come back with my boyfriend.

Yelp
Cute tucked away wine bar. Inside is remodeled and looks nice and inviting. Great happy hour prices on . Friendly place to chat, sit and socialize. Nice outdoor patio for when the weather is warm. Great location at Indian Bend and Scottsdale Road makes it very convenient to pop in and take a break from the harried holiday shopping. Nice happy hour food choices and they offer a good selection of food. There are televisions to watch but they aren't too obtrusive. Stop and check this place out if you haven't already.

Diane R.

Yelp
We chose this little wine bar because we had never been before . We met a couple friends for happy hour. The wine was good but the food was just average bar food. We ordered chicken nachos and they just threw some diced chicken on the top. They were not very warm either. I had a chicken pesto slider had a lot of onions on it. It was pretty tasty. The best thing that we had ordered was the pizza margarita flatbread it was actually pretty big compared to other places. The restaurant was decorated cute for the holidays. Lots of great wine there that you can go in and purchase and take home.

Yelp
Terroir Wine Pub is my favorite "Go-To" place for Carry-Out and On-Site consumption Wine in the Valley. Brian (the owner) does a great job keeping his selection rotating so you get a different Wine List each time visiting. I have now became a part of their "Monthly Wine Club" and get to chose from either a White or Red Wine to-go. I starting visiting Brian over a year ago and still leave satisfied every time. Not only is their selection impressive, his prices will beat ANY wine bar and wine shop in the Valley. They offer a Cheese/Meat Board, Hummus/Veggies, and a few other options. If you are hungry, I would suggest eating a meal before hand or making dinner reservations for somewhere else in Scottsdale. This is a premiere Wine Bar, not a Restaurant. Other than this, I am sure you will enjoy Terroir as much as I do! Pay them a visit.

Yelp
Nice place for a glass of wine and an appetizer to say the least. We stopped in here on a pre-planned whim. Sophia greeted us with a smile and explained about the happy hour specials. Mom had the happy hour Chardonnay and I had a glass of Riff Pinot Grigio. The Terroir Nachos with chicken was delicious! Layered perfectly with beans, cheese, tomatoes, onion, fresh jalapeños, and a good amount of chunks of grilled chicken. We devoured the plate and were satisfied. The service was stellar. Even at quarter to five on a Tuesday, the place had a good amount of patrons. All seemed happy and a good energy could be felt. They even have live music several evenings a week, and a lovely patio for the right kind of day/evening. I def recommend this place if you're an oenophile or just want something nice to drink and a cool place to hang out.

Yelp
I was visiting from out of town and went with family to this wine bar. I was so uncomfortable, we did not enjoy ourselves. At the bar there was a lady who said she was the owner yelling at a customer. The way she was talking to this patron was so disrespectful it made me not want to be there anymore. Never should a customer get talked to that way when they aren't even arguing back or doing anything. Any business owner should know not to talk to customers like that! Don't go here. They don't respect their customers!

Yelp
Walked into this place for a nightcap and was pleasantly surprised with live music. As visitors from California and enjoying our last night in Scottsdale, it was the perfect end. The staff was very friendly and suggested some fantastic wines. I got the wine flight with the cabs and the BF at he larger & lumberyard red, also really good. Love the vibe of this place, will be back. Thanks!

Yelp
One of my favorite wine bars in the Valley and subsequently, I have been coming here for years. I always receive a friendly greeting. The staff are always helpful and open to offering recommendations on what to drink or buy. While they have a plethora of options for wine, they also serve beer and have craft beer options on tap. I really like their food options: appetizer-style only. I generally go for the Terroir board since it has a great combination of meats and cheeses (3 of each) paired with toasted bread. I also add a side of olives and nuts to my order. They have recently remodeled the interior so there are more seats at the bar and the chairs are significantly more comfortable now. There is also some great patio seating options. BONUS: They offer a monthly wine club if you happen to be interested and open to trying new wines.

Yelp
Good selection of wine, however, food is average. The service could be more attentive.

Yelp

Yelp
This is my new favorite wine pub in Scottsdale. Excellent wine selection and great service. Highly recommend the guacamole and buffalo cheese quesadilla! I will definitely be back soon.

Yelp
Such a wonderful evening at this fabulous restaurant. Loved the wine, service, ambience, food and music. Ps, thanks for saving my sunglasses for me.

Yelp
My daughters wanted to take me here as they both love this place. Our waitress was so kind and fun. The wines were fantastic. Enjoyed the music and atmosphere

Yelp
Great wine bar, friendly staff, with live music! Had the sliders, nachos, and cheese board! All were delicious

Yelp
Had a great dinner there tonight. Loved my Erath pinot & quesadilla. My friend had the sliders. Food, wine & service very good. Nice music playing & not to loud. Great atmosphere!

Yelp
Eh. I usually love wine bars. I don't feel the need to ever return to this one. It wasn't awful. But nothing special and overpriced. The service was terrible but I can't blame our server. She was one of only two employees working the bar on a Friday evening during prime tourist season. She and the other gal were working behind the bar as well as serving tables all over the establishment. We all liked our wine just fine, but agreed that the prices were high for what they were. They also have a small food menu. I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich. It was OK. I thought our evening will improve once the live music started. But that actually made it worse and we quickly left. The singer couldn't quite decide what mood he was going for and was too loud at times. With so many great wine bars in Scottsdale, I'm surprised this one has managed to thrive.

Yelp
Did you see that episode of "Marriage Ref" with Kirstie Alley, Jimmy Fallon and Sheryl Crow? The one where they were supposed to be picking on the husband-wanna-be-Guy Fieri with his bleach blonde hair and fake studs but they instead they wound up poking fun at the wife and her VAT O'WINE "oh my god!" ? Follow me on this one... I think she learned how to pour her portions from Terroir in Scottsdale...and I think her husband and his friends hang out here. I was invited here by my Scottsdale friends tonight for a last-minute happy hour venture. I walked in and seriously felt like I should show my papers or go in the back to clock in...I was the by far the most (genetically) brown person in the place. All the human groupers were eyeballing me (human groupers= cosmetically enhanced women whose faces resemble those of their pescatarian ancestors). Awkward. Pretty mellow and quiet for a Friday night. I joined them on one of the several tables on the patio, next to a nice little fountain (which kept spitting out and hitting me in the back, a trick I thought the groupers rigged to see if I would swim back). The wine selection was mostly CA and their servings are GINORMOUS- not a word, I know, but seriously they are VATS o'wine. I think 1 glass= 3 regular servings at most places. We ordered the cheese plate and smoked salmon. It was a pretty sad display and hardly restaurant quality- what I serve at home to friends looks better and has WAY better presentation. They were smooshed together on a tiny salad plates and had no character or thought whatsoever. The House of Tricks cheese plate would so win the parking lot fight against this cheese plate. Their cheese gets points because it was D'affinois and the smoked salmon was decent but their sidekicks were lame- craisins, salted almonds and bland, listless bread. For dessert, we had some over-tanned, open-shirted, over-gelled, 50-going-on-25-Scottsdale tools hit on my friend, (whose wedding we were talking about the entire time, by the way). DEE-LISH. All in all, this place is doable as long your party is self-sustaining (i.e. not hoping to meet other people) and your goal is just to drink and nosh a bit (but not dine.)

Yelp
Over the past few months, I have become somewhat of a regular at Terroir Wine Pub in mid-town (uhh? Its not quite North ok?) Scottsdale. This place specializes in wine (duh) both by the glass and by the bottle, but they have a lot of other stuff going for them: Great beer selection, some nice small plates (cheese, meats, olives, fresh bread, hummus, bruschetta, etc.) that pair nicely with their selections, and (very) friendly staff who make you feel right at home. They sell a wide variety of bottles at very reasonable (around grocery store) prices which you can take to go or enjoy on the spot for a nominal corkage fee. Their "by the glass" selection rotates all the time and you can definitely sense the depth of wine knowledge going on behind the scenes. They also offer a Wine Club (which I recently joined) which waives the in-house corkage fee, gives you a 10% discount on bottles, and gives you 1-2 bottles of recommended wine every month for just $30/month. I really enjoy a more laid back and relaxed bar atmosphere, and I am never disappointed by Terroir. I believe that the best bars are bars that you can have just as much fun by yourself as with a group of friends. The staff is always happy to chat with you, drop wine knowledge, and support you in your struggles. Or you can just read a book or use the free wi-fi (!) in peace. I will continue to go here at least once a week for as long as its around. Favorite seat: Patio lounge chairs and/or belly up at the bar Favorite drink: Jim Berry Shiraz, Mirror Pond Pale Ale Favorite food: Hummus plate w/ Salami and green olives

Yelp
What a fantastic little place. Apparently, it's been around for years but I never knew it existed. Definitely a fun place for a nice flight, some light snackage and Scottsdale people watching. A pig walks into a bar... No, really. A pig walked in while we were there. The pig was on a leash with it's owner and they strolled around the patio and inside the pub. I got the feeling the pig was a frequent customer and probably has a more refined palate than I do.

Yelp
Great selection of wines and friendly staff. A bit of a patio but not very pretty, facing a parking lot. Great place for a glass before going to one of the next door restaurants.
google avatar

Yelp
Nice atmosphere but poor service and food. I wouldn't return. We had to find the sever multiple times and it was a slow week day night.

Yelp
Nice neighborhood wine bar. Big pours. Not much in the way of food.

Yelp
Terrior Wine Pub is like stepping into Cheers where everyone seems to know each other and if you are a first time visitor they treat you like a regular. From Brian the owner to each of the people attending bar, they both know their wines and they will direct you to one you will enjoy at a reasonable price. They additionally have a monthly wine club which is worth checking out.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is small, friendly and inviting, with GREAT wines. (Members get bottles monthly depending on their plan, and you can rent wine locker storage, too.) Live music several nights of the week and their light appetizers are yummy.

Yelp
Stopped in here for a glass of wine and light bite before heading to a Yelp event up the street. We walked in and were not greeted, despite the fact that it wasn't busy. Everyone sort of just stared at us as we stood inside the entrance waiting for some direction as to whether or not we should seat ourselves. Turns out seating was indeed patron's choice. The bartender did, after a minute or two, tell us we could sit wherever we liked, and he followed us to a patio table with a couple of menus, which he placed on the table and then walked away. He came back a few minutes later to take our order. I had a Pinot Noir, my girlfriend had a Sauvignon Blanc, and we also ordered a plate of cheeses and meats and a couple of waters. After that, the service improved and we were quite happy. I have to say, the selection of by-the-glass wine is excellent, and they do not skimp on pours. I was way impressed with the pours! I hate it when I order a $10 glass of wine and get 2 ounces. Don't have to worry about that at Terroir! Further, the concept is neat. You can drink by the glass, or you can select a bottle from their extensive cellar, and either take it home with you or pay a corkage and enjoy it there. The cheese and meat plate, imo, was good. The cheeses were all unique, fresh and tasty, as were the salamis. The small plate was just about right for the two of us (we might have had a couple of pieces of cheese left over). This place strikes me as sort of a neighborhood "Cheers" type of spot that locals frequent and everybody knows their name. I am not a local to this part of town (live about 35 minutes away) so I can't say that this will be a frequent stop for me, but I'll come back for a pre-game glass of vino and accouterments when I have dining plans in the area, that's for sure. Thanks for a fun happy hour for us!

Yelp
Great place with great wine. I am a regular and always look forward to coming here for a Red Zin. They always have one by the glass and it's always a treat to see which one they picked to pour! As soon as the weather is a bit better, the patio is great.

Yelp
I realized that after many years of coming here, we have never reviewed our favorite wine bar. Listen up, if you want a chill wine bar with unbelievable bottle prices and the best bartenders come here. We come here at least once a week and we always end up chatting with other fellow regulars. They have live music on Wednesday's and the weekends! I'm sure you'll see me there when you check it out.
