I stumbled upon this place by accident but the crisp white and black colors from inside drew me in. It is bright, spacious and very well organized and clean. The customer service is BEYOND spectacular. I arrived just shortly after they opened and was walking around, the gentleman was kind and had a plethora of knowledge on the toffee and Gelato products. He gave me the history of the business and even about the toffee and co-business with the Gelato. His honest and product knowledge was superior. He demonstrated he knows his clients and product. The Gelato was out of this world, tasted like the Gelato in Italy because it really was produced by the Italians and the same way. We love toffee and they had numerous variations of flavors and chocolate collaborations. The coffee was spit on too. The quality of every product is truly superior like their customer service and very generous portions. Pricing is spot on for what you get. This place is worth the 30cminite drive from Glenview. Nothing compares to their flavors of Gelato and toffee selection. Lots of sitting room to socialize, read or work on your computer.

I ordered espresso and pecan ice cream. The portion was big and delicious.

Google
Exceptional toffee, zero customer service. Each year, I order toffee as stocking stuffers for my family. This year, I ordered and received the box, but didn't open it until Christmas eve. That's when I discovered I only got half my order. I confirmed the quantities on the order and replied to the order email asking them to correct it. I received no response. After a week, I emailed again. I received no response. After a week, I filled out the Contact Us form on the webpage. I received no response. I have given up hope on receiving the other half of my order or a refund for the missing items. I was a loyal customer and promoted them to others.

Here’s what you need to know: love the launch of Terry’s in downtown HP and even more the re-launch of Sweet Home Gelato. Great collaboration and partnership. Amazing toffee and incredible Gelato. Mike, the new manager for the business is brilliant. As good as you can find anywhere in the business. He’s Super customer focused and an absolute joy to interact with. And that translates down to a terrific store experience with attention to detail for sure - store always very clean with good design and ambiance and the treats are always perfectly made. Just a terrific product and terrific service at the Terry’s / Sweet Home Gelato store. We have been going there several times a week this summer and expect to do so for years.

Google
Love this place!! The selection si not overwhelming and the spectrum of flavors is just right. I saw someone mention a sugar free option, are you serious?? That’s like going to a coffee shop and asking for caffeine free espresso!! Lol gettattahere!! Anyway, great place, great flavors.

Google
Great toffee! Especially the dark chocolate version and peppermint. The shakes are excellent especially the choc chunk! Mm. Always able to find street parking too very near by. Great selection of gift wrapping choices too.

Google
They have THE BEST TOFFEE. Employees are always super friendly and their coffee and ice cream ain't half bad either. I've gotten many a hostess gift, house warming present, thank you gift, Valentine's day treat, party favor, etc from here and they always go over well. Highly recommend.

I can’t say I’m much for toffee, but this was the only place within walking distance that was slightly close to being a chocolatier. LOL. My sweet tooth needed to be satisfied and I wanted to find something to take home to my dad as a treat. For my father, I chose a small bag of their s’mores flavor. He said he liked them! For myself, I picked a few single flavors. I believe they’re $.75 each. I definitely preferred the toffee covered in dark chocolate, as the milk chocolate made everything way too sweet. The dark provided a much better balance. I think my favorite flavor was probably the one with the pretzels. The salt from the pretzels helped to balance the sweetness even more and it’s lighter and crispy or texture was much appreciated.

Yelp
I have visited this store in the last month on Sundays and absolutely had to write a review. i was there on 12/15 and 12/29. The two girls were both helpful and so happy to have my business and made me feel so welcome. I am not sure if they are related to the owners, but the owners should be so proud to have them. I have purchased both gelato and candy. i have never felt rushed and they made excellent suggestions for me. i will continue to be a customer based on these visits and look forward to seeing these adorable and amazing girls again. Great job Terrys!!!

Yelp
Some toffee for a friend, some for me. Mellow, luscious toffee, just the right amount of toothsome crunch. My dentist would approve? So many delicious flavors, I chose pretzel sea salt with dark chocolate, cinnamon chipotle, and peppermint. Prices so very reasonable, perfect for gifts. Happy to see lots of people inside enjoying gelato even though Yelp said it was closed today.

Elias K.

Yelp
Big fan of Terry's Toffee. The toffees are original, and delicious. So is the gelato. The staff is patient and helpful. The shop is clean and spacious. Two suggestions: Stay open later for people who want dessert after dinner, and do something more with all that room!

Melissa M.

Yelp
One of the last stops on our food tour. Talk about save the best for last!! I'm a toffee lover so maybe I'm biased- however I'm told this is one of the swag items if you win an academy award??!!! Delicious artisanal toffee!!

Aimee L.

Yelp
It's very sad to see this business fall apart. We loved their gelato since they first came to Highland Park. Today, I came in to get two quarts of gelato to celebrate my parent's anniversary. I watched the girl fill the quarts and they were under filled. I asked her if she could fill it to the top. Especially when I saw they increased the prices of the quarts by more than 30%. I was told, they are full. See for yourself. I'll be going to Libertyville from now on.

Yelp
So new store in town (Highland Park, IL.), where Panera used to be, is a "toffee" store with a couple of cases of toffee and several freezers of Gelato (from what was Sweet Home Gelato on Central). On the first visit, there was just one size toffee chip (1.5" triangle), poorly marked as to what sort of toffee you were buying, at $1 apiece. I picked up two medium (small) gelatos and four pieces of toffee (got something I didn't order. No one knew how to attach lids to gelato cups. The gelato was mushy (turns out the freezers couldn't keep up with our hot days, and gelato was melting in the case, my bag, and onto my car seat). The mess I created trying to save the remaining gelato in our freezer I won't go into. Your chocolate/toffee dollar goes much further (with better choices and without teens serving) at Goodies on Central. The four pieces of toffee and two gelatos were about $21 ( believe the gelato prices went up since being Sweet Home... and tiny toffee pieces, at $1 each, seem absurd to me. I called, and a very nice manager/owner explained about the freezer breakdown and refunded monies. I likely won't return after a bad start and pricing. Not everything needs to go up in price because they can...

Karen B.

Yelp
Absolutely the best toffee I have ever had . And the subtle flavors they have created are amazing . So happy they came to Highland Park !

Yelp
Affogatto was amazing. Nice to find a place that makes strong affogatto. Will try other items next time.

Sue L.

Yelp
This cozy shop has a few tables for diners. There's coffee for morning late morning drinkers. Ice cream is available at any time. It has a nice selection of ice cream including their number one seller toffee ice cream. The wall displays toffee in bags or smaller quantities and chocolate. The dining area is bright and airy. I had the toffee ice cream and I was not disappointed. I would return and try another flavor.

Donna P.

Yelp
I love the gelato, but the last two evenings that I had it it was like soup.... melted. yuk! but they still served it very disappointing.......

Lori D.

Yelp
Terry's Toffee is so delicious! It's fun to stop in and have a little treat! What's even more amazing is the creative gifts for holidays and even just regular hostess gifts!

Vicki D.

Yelp
We thought Sweet Home Gelato closed but thankfully we found it at Terrys toffee! So good!!!!

Yelp
This is such a cute shop, right off the train stop. Coffee, ice cream, toffees This place was fantastic and friendly. Got some good recommendations and had a really nice conversation with guy at the counter. He had a great selection of toffees and some really nice mixed sets. There were some very tasty selections, we went with the Lincoln Park Mix (Pretzel & sea salt; McCall's Classic; Koffee Toffee and Peanut Butter Chocolate). YUM. We also grabbed a Cinnamon-Chipotle toffee too.

Brian B.

Yelp
Placed internet order that they shipped via FedEx. Received a tampered delivery February 1, 2023. Label had been opened and resealed. 2 of the 3 items were missing. FedEx requires that claims must include a statement from the shipper stating that they authorize me to make the loss claim. Keith at terrys toffe said in an email feb 7 he would send the letter .emails from me since then have been ignored.

Yelp
My husband received a gift certificate for his retirement to Terry's Toffee. We called the shop for help in placing our online order and Gregory was so helpful and patient in assisting us. He helped us with all of our questions and spent about 30 minutes with us ( we're OLD and these things can be tricky! lol) He even through in an extra 1/2 pound of toffee for my husband's 70th birthday! SO NICE! he had the order ready and waiting for our son to pick up and sent us a quick email confirmation. The toffee was delicious and the customer service was EXCELLENT! Thank you so much!

Kim S.

Yelp
I've been going to Terry's for over 10 years. Everything is so beautiful and delicious. I used to obsess over the lemon paradise toffee but these days I can't stop snacking on the new pretzel flavor. Every year I get a little hat box filled with toffee for some of my family, they're absolutely adorable. Highly, highly recommend!

Delaney H.

Yelp
If you are a toffee addict like me you should stop in this cute place in LP!! My roommate and i were wanting to try out a new coffee place so we stopped in here and so glad we did! When you walk in you get hit with the amazing smell of toffee. They have samples so you can try all the flavors. My favorite is the lemon and salted Carmel pretzel!! They have boxes of it small and large - great for the holidays! They also have some you can mix and match in the front case.

Yelp
Finally popped into Terry's Toffee after living in the neighborhood for a few months and wish I had sooner! Not only is the store adorable and welcoming, the toffee was delicious. I personally loved the chocolate peanut butter, chai-cago, and lemon. There were plenty of other tasty flavors to try next time. Ended up leaving with a nicely packed bag as a gift, and a small bag for myself! Other Yelpers have mentioned that it's a bit on the pricey side but to support a homemade local store like this, I'm happy to pay a few extra dollars.

Amy P.

Yelp
Went here for a gift for a family member. The staff helped suggest some options and select toffee flavors. It was an excellent experience and the gift was very well received!

Josh M.

Yelp
This place blew my mind. It's that good! We bought a couple of pounds after sampling a few that that had there. The peppermint and the original were to die for. Really fantastic! A bit pricey but worth it. We will most definitely be back. We bought a bag to give away as a gift and helped our friends eat that sucker when we got to their apartment. Not sorry about that even a little bit. This place does toffee and chocolate right. Check it out and enjoy.

Yelp
Person: Would you like some toffee? Me: No thanks... I like my teeth to stay in my head. Person: It's Terry's Toffee. Me: Hand that ish over! It really is the only good toffee I've ever had. Sorry to all the grandma's out there, but I just can't do those overly hard shards of toffee cutting into my gums and grinding down my teefs. I like that Terry's toffee switches things up by actually being edible. Beyond being edible, it's also expensive as heck but I can see in the storefront and well-balanced flavors how they got to that price-point. Of course I'd love for it to be a little easier on my pocketbook, but that's just not the case. I'm a fan of the Chai-cago toffee, which has a teeny tiny little kick on the end and full-bodied buttery deliciousness throughout. If you haven't tried their dark chocolate smothered popcorn - get on it, and if you happen to be in search of sugar free, Terry sells the only sugar-free chocolate/candy that I've ever had that doesn't have that fake weird after taste. Terry's Toffee makes for a very merry Candice.

Dennis B.

Yelp
Found candy in an advent calendar. Fun and very delicious! Hang in there, your small business is worth it! Merry Christmas! Jesus saves! John 3:16 "Bible"

Lulu R.

Yelp
Dear Terry, Its me, your favorite customer/ fatty extraordinaire/ your old banker from the Chase in Andersonville. You used to come bring us toffee. I love you....for your delicious toffee. Love, LuLu It was love at first bite. He told us that it was his grandmother's recipe. Did you know that Terry's toffee was given to the stars in the goodie bags for the Oscars? (dun nuh na nah) The more you know! Small business owner that I would gladly support just as long as he keeps cranking out those delicious confections. A tad pricey but its QUALITY over quantity. You can also buy them online and ship them all over the continental US. Besides, Terry is a hands on, wonderful, kind, witty kind of guy who nobody can hate!

Hannah C.

Yelp
Holy samples! I was initially put off a bit by their high prices (sure, this is an artisan product and all, but that isn't usually my scene), but quickly discovered the upside: they will let you try Ever. Single. Flavor. I was surprised that I loved the classic and the mint pistachio rather than the more "interesting" flavors I had expected to love (don't get me wrong, they were all good! But I went in with preconceived ideas of what would be my favorites and I was totally wrong!). I love that they offer the "awards blend" that's used at the actual Academy Awards. I'd definitely come back here for holiday gifts or even some sort of corporate loyalty gift or party favor.

Ted C.

Yelp
The storefront is pretty easy to miss but thanks to Yelp the lady friend and I found it and stopped in for a little bit before we had dinner. The storefront is really small but that's because the rest of the space is all for toffee making-I assume, I'm no toffee maker. There are a few racks with prepackaged mixes, a small table with every flavor they have and some tongs. We were debating on what to try first when a friendly man walked by and chatted us up a little bit and we could feel free to sample all we wanted and let him know if we had any questions. I asked this kindly man if he was Terry and he said he was and then I looked around to see his picture there with Da Mayor and other celebrities because I'm unobservant. I tasted one of everything but really liked the lemon and the classic one the best while my gf, and a coffee addict like the coffee one. WE tried to find a packaged one with our particular combo and couldn't find it but we made a custom one for the same price. The toffee is good but very pricey and something you definitely can't buy everyday, then again it's so rich that it's something you don't want to eat all the time anyway. Price and taste wise it's a sometimes treat.

Reid G.

Yelp
We walked in to Terry's only planning to get coffee (Collectivo!) as I'm not normally a toffee fan. However, the tasting cart quickly shifted our focus. Who knew toffee could be so good AND not get stuck in your teeth? My favorite was the salted caramel but the coffee flavor and peanut butter were tasty as well. When checking out we got a peek at the back where they make the toffee in house. I'll be back to try the ice cream as well. Excellent atmosphere and unexpectedly great toffee.

Tabitha W.

Yelp
Toffee has never been so divine! There was a generous sampling bar at the front of the store, and we helped ourselves, reveling in the diversity of flavor creations. Ended up purchasing a small box of Peanut Butter Chocolate - way yum! - and a small bag of Lemon Paradise Naked Toffee - surprising toffee flavor but still very good. The naked toffee definitely put me closer to my next dentist visit, but for this toffee, it was worth it!

Aimee M.

Yelp
"Thank you sir, may I have another." Ok, I really didn't have to ask, nor was there any punishment going on, but man oh man, I loved how my son and I were offered sample upon sample upon sample! Now the up-front shopping area might be small but it is full of toffee-goodness. The back is where the action is, where they mix and pour their delicious toffee. When we entered, we were immediately greeted and told we could sample anything on the sample table--they basically had their whole line available for sampling and these were pretty good sized toffee bites too! Once I settled on my purchase (the Coffee Toffee--wonderful coffee flavor-- and the McCalls Dark--the basic toffee just with rich dark chocolate) he offered a sample of their toffee popcorn and yep, I got a bag of that crunchy buttery goodness as well. The toffee is excellent quality--you can tell they use superior ingredients and everything is so fresh. I really liked their Chai-cago spice (sweet and warm, the spice is mild) and plan to send my team some of that for the Holidays. Nothing like showing off the local artisans and sharing some those goodies across the US!

Courtney C.

Yelp
I might be one of the few females alive that could live in a chocolate-less world. It's not that I hate it but i don't crave it either. When my friend Angela suggested a toffee place, I was in. Although I don't have a sweet spot in my heart for chocolate, I do for toffee. We were warmly greeted upon entry and were given the run down of how everything works. They have samples of every flavor to try. I had to try one of everything. I ended up buying a few mixed bags but the lavender, lemon and cran-orange ended up being my fave. If you're like me and prefer toffee without chocolate, they sell naked toffee for 3.99. I should have bought all of it but they only had a few flavors available. All in all, I spent about $35. Way more than I'd spend at another candy joint, but it's high quality and definitely worth the money. Plus I plan on sharing with my family. For my friends that may also have braces (or sensitive teeth), I was a little nervous that I'd crack or break a bracket, but it's not incredibly hard that you have to worry about it. The only worry you have here is how many calories you just consumed with all the free samples.

Angela P.

Yelp
You haven't had real toffee until you've had Terry's. I will never look at a Heath bar the same way again. The Lavender Vanilla and Chai-Cago Spice were my two favorites, so I purchased each flavor in a 1/4 lb. bag for a jaw-dropping $8.99 each. I didn't have sticker shock since I had read the reviews first, and I paid for a gourmet, quality product. The storefront is small, with two displays of toffee including some already boxed up and topped with pretty metallic ribbons. The table in the middle hosts a plethora of samples of each flavor. I didn't sample every one, but I also liked the Lemon, and the Cran-Orange was interesting. I wasn't a fan of the coffee; I expected a more robust flavor. I would come back here for the occasional indulgence or gift for the toffee lover in my life, but luckily this is a little too far from home to make it a habit. Unlike Courtney C., I will NOT be sharing my Terry's Toffee.

Linda L.

Yelp
A container of Terry's Toffee makes a really good gift for friends! Really beautiful gift-ready containers, and who in their right mind doesn't like toffee? For out of town friends, I tend to bring back some of the Chai-cago Spice Toffee (#puntastic). They have samples of all their toffees on the table when you walk in. My favorites are the lemon paradise (first time you'll hear me saying that about white chocolate), Chai-cago spice, and the McCallan's classic. Little on the pricey end though!

Adriane P.

Yelp
I never thought I'd be a fan of toffee and it's all because of Terry. Trust me. It's that darn good. And hey if you don't trust me zillions of A-List celebrities, politicians, the Queen of England, and renowned food journalists that like it. I was introduced to Terry's Toffee as gifts and was smitten. I like: Lemon Paradise with lemon oil, hand cracked macadamia nuts, covered in white chocolate (with 31% cocoa butter). I didn't expect to favor this but the sweet, buttery flavor mingled with the zesty lemon and crunchy texture were winners. Chai-cago Spice with cinnamon, cloves, ginger, nutmeg, cardamom, pepper dipped in dark chocolate. Super complex flavors and a fantastic candy for someone without an overly sweet tooth. I thought I'd like this best, and I DID like it but the PB &C was my fave. Peanut Butter Chocolate with peanut butter chips mixed with toffee and covered in milk chocolate. It's like a Heath Bar and Reese's. Together. Yup! Delicious. Terry and staff are really nice. They give samples so you can make the best choice. This is some sophisticated high end candy, guys and galleons. They make great gifts for others OR from you to you. We ALL deserve a treat sometimes, right?

Kat S.

Yelp
Love at first buttery bite. Girl Bait. Chick Magnet. Antidepressant. PMS Suppressant. May get you out of jail free. So rich and indulgently good I was tingling and shivering in that run on sentence, really, really good afterglow kind of way. On a scale of 0 to 10 Bo Derek is far back on the horizon, futilely trying to catch up, failing because I don't share well. Ask any former date. It pulled out a filling in my left back molar and I am STILL gorging on the delectable goodness with a sort of possessed, girly, giggly glee that should make me uncomfortably self-concious but instead inspires envy in all observing. This is the really good candy you hide from roommates, boyfriends, relatives... And Terry is so cool he has autographed thank yous from Samuel L. Jackson AND The Queen of England. http://www.wgntv.com/blogs/leshock-value/wgntv-terrys-toffee-serving-sweets-at-the-oscars-for-eight-years-20120222,0,4775866.story Beat that. I'll be most excited when they get one from Uggie, best actor of 2012 'The Artist' Try my favorite: the toffee with dried cherries that is covered in silky sweet dark chocolate and crunchy kosher salt--- but don't ask me to share. I can run, even in my 4 inch heels.

Amy G.

Yelp
Loved this place!!! I spent some time perusing their generous sample table before picking out some gifts for people back home. The packaging is great by itself but they also offer gift wrapping if you're interested. The owner, Terry, was the best!! Super nice, not at all pushy, and happy to share the story about the celebrity pictures and letters gracing his wall from his 13 years in business. The toffee I tried was absolutely fantastic! Not something I would buy regularly for myself since it's a bit pricy ($8.99 for 1/4lb) but it's great for gifts. It's a bit out of the way of the regular tourist scene but worth it. Definitely stop in here if you're from out of town and are looking for unique souvenirs!

Julie M.

Yelp
I would give Terry's Toffee 6 stars if I could. This stuff is incredible. It's truly the best toffee I've ever had. Also, they have SO MANY flavors. I must have tried about 6. My favorites were the milk chocolate, Mcall's classic, and the peanut butter chocolate. I was surprisingly impressed with the Lavenilla--I usually find lavender too overpowering and floral in sweets but in this case there was definitely a nice balance. The only downside is that it is pretty pricey but it's totally worth it.

Rafael C.

Yelp
This is probably one of the first things I think of when I'm looking for a nice gift to bring to a party or as a small gift for someone. Their toffee is very good but even better are the different kinds of flavors they put together. I just love the Cran-Orange Passion flavor the best but you'll find it easy to have multiple favorites. They are a little pricey but I only come to grab some gift bags of toffee when needed ... yeah, I do end up getting some for myself too! You'll see why if you check them out. They always have samples available but please don't use your hands ... ew!

Carol M.

Yelp
Mega awesome! It's about 9 big ones for a little package of toffee but everything there is SO good it's worth the splurge, esp for a gift or a "If I give you some candy will you finally leave me alone?!" treat. Just make up for it by trying all the samples. Terry's a cool guy too.

Carly T.

Yelp
OMG. So good. Be. Careful. You will seriously be in danger of eating everything in sight, and I am not even kidding. I love their signature toffee. My mom and I left with a few samples and bags. Not much else to say, other than.. try it. Then go to the gym the next day, like all day to make up for it. :)

Leslie P.

Yelp
I am crazy about this place. I love Terry and Michael, and I give them kudos for their great success. I am a huge toffee fan to start - especially English toffee. So I migrate towards some of their traditional toffee flavors like MacCall's. However, I have tried nearly every flavor and like them all. Even the Lavender-Vanilla, which is not at all typically something I would like. So I recommend that you try everything before judging, because you may be surprised. The Chai-cago may be my favorite, but it's a close competition. Honorable mention goes to the Peanut Butter toffee. Think Reese's peanut butter cup with buttery toffee. Wow. This makes a really wonderful gift. Their gift packaging is really beautiful, and it's something that can be enjoyed well after the toffee is gone. For this holiday season, they are featuring these gorgeous hat boxes. What saves me is that it is pricey. Otherwise I would have to join Jenny Craig.

Marie L.

Yelp
Terry's is the place to go for tasty toffee but the prices are steep ($9 for 4 oz.). They do have samples of all their flavors out on a table in the tiny space up front but it's hard not to feel pressured to buy something since the sample table is about 10 inches away from the employee/owner at the cash register. The biscotti is cheaper and just as tasty, so grab some of those if you're a little light in the pockets. Or stuff your face with samples and run like the wind.

Daniel F.

Yelp
It's official, this is the best toffee I've ever tried. That melty, crumbly, crunchy, yet sticky and flaky texture was - I previously believed - unobtainable. And the spicy, smokey undertaste?! How do they do it!?!?!?!? Sort of expensive. Not for your everyday toffee-consumption habits. You'll need to buy this as a gift for someone and hope that they do the same in return :). Very creative ideas for packaging and presentation. My mom's getting this for Mother's Day this year. We all know who her favorite child is, hehehe.

Shradha A.

Yelp
Great gift idea! Their toffee doesn't get stuck to your teeth, comes in fun flavors, and beautiful packaging!

Allison J.

Yelp
Super yummy toffee with fun exotic flavors to sample. I loved the free samples and really.... they weren't free if you consider I spent $45 before I left. Great gift boxes. A little pricey. But I'd be impressed if someone gave me a box. The ice cream is super lightweight. It's like.... frozen whipped cream.

Jackie N.

Yelp
I have been meaning to visit Terry's for awhile, and one day I actually finished work early enough to do so. The woman behind the counter was very friendly and invited me to sample their specialty popcorn. She also pointed me to the sample trays in front of the store. Wow! Free samples of every type of toffee means I certainly will need fillings soon. Luckily, I maintained composure and tried only few before making my purchase.

Yelp
I think I actually ate about $25 worth of free samples before selecting exactly what I wanted to buy. The staff is amazing! They helped me so much in selecting the perfect gift. My favorite types so far are the koffee toffee, the knd with hazelnuts, and actually, the original chocolate dipped toffee. the chai-cago spice was nice too. They have lots of unique types as well, like a wasabi crusted toffee with ginger, and cranberry orange dusted with sea salt. Delicious! It's a touch expensive (about $25 for a half-pound gift box) but the quality is amazing, so it's definitely worth it!

Yelp
The best toffee I've ever had. Go for the lemon paradise! The store owners are also very lovely and give generous samples to boot in their store! Please support this business!
