Elon Musk Wins Approval to Actually Build LA Tesla Drive-In Restaurant | Eater LA

"I found that the planned Tesla’s Diner and Drive-In Theater Supercharger has received permit approval from the LA Department of Building and Safety to be built on Santa Monica Boulevard just east of La Brea at the site of a closed former Shakey’s Pizza. The proposed development would include 32 Supercharger stalls, a rooftop space with tables and seats, a restaurant, and two film screens that would run clips from popular movies, though it’s unclear when it might open and it’s still possible the project never gets built given Elon Musk’s reputation for delays, changes, and promising things that may not happen." - Virali Dave

U can feel some of the vibrations of cars passing by downwards if they’re going faster than the norm allowed here when you’re charging ur Tesla here. The Tesla supercharging is at the B1 level aka near the lower level near the basement. It’s continently placed and even has direct regular parking spots across from the super chargers. This was the cheapest near my CSUF university at 0.40/kWh. And when it gets busy it rises to 0.50. There is plenty of shade and natural lighting at the lower end of the Tesla super charging spots. I will probably try to charge here in the future.

🔋Chargers: 24 250kW 🗑️Trash bin: Opposite ends of chargers near exit to go up a level to shops 🚻Restrooms: ? Maybe in one of the retail stores or Ralph’s market. 🛒Nearby: Variety of places to shop and eat 💁🏻‍♂️Notes: B1. Enter from Imperial highway then to parking garage to the right (east) of Ralph’s. Take immediate left after entry into garage towards the lower level -B1

Why are there no signs of the direction of movement to the charging station anywhere. If you entered through the main entrance then turn left. Look for level B1. This charging station is one of those that you need to find "solve the quest" in the parking lot, this is all you need and you can charge your car. If you could find a charging station, then everything is fine: wide convenient parking spaces, light and, most importantly, clean. It is so sweet. Thank you to the parking staff and visitors for tidying up and keeping this place clean.

Chargers are pretty fast. During the week they are usually always available. On the weekend it's more of a toss up since people are out for brunch. It appears that they also finally put signs pointing to where the charges are. I can never remember whether to go up or down when I enter from the side where Ralph's is located. The only confusing thing is that I think there are two parking structures OR this one is just really big and has multiple entrances, so if you go in through the other side it can be confusing. Love that these are free and charge relatively quickly compared to other chargers and that they have both types.

First visit to Brea supercharger. Hard to find out the charging place. It's located inside the parking builging at B level. Nice and low price place !

There are 24, 250 kW chargers in the basement level of the parking structure. It forces you to go up but make sure you go down to level B1. I was the only one here at 11 PM.

Update 7/7/24. Please start charging for the 7.2 kW chargers. Local owners of Teslas park sometimes all weekend long in these free spots. Check early Sunday morning, the Teslas are already fully charged, come back in mid afternoon, same Teslas are parked. Almost impossible to find a free 7.2 kW charger. Do like Hoag hospital. $0.25/kW-hr, surcharge for peak times, and after charging stops after 30 minute grace period, start charging a fee ($3 / hr would be good) for blocking the charger access. Original post Oct 2023. Good set of chargers. As enter sign points to the left. Just follow for 50 feet and you can't miss the chargers. But Teslas always take the free level 2 chargers....so the free level 2 chargers are not available for anyone else. Please start charging for the level 2 chargers so others can charge. The good thing the Tesla fast DC chargers are never busy.

Yelp
*Dog Friendly! One of the best charging spots around. Underground, so you can avoid the heat or rain. Plenty of Tesla chargers. Also has free 24 A charging available with a 4 hour max limit. Brea PD Will ticket cars exceeding the 4 hour limit. Tesla will charge idle fees for cars parked beyond charge completion. So, not sure what the complaints are for. Lots to do on ground floor to pass the time. Tons of restaurants and shops to pass the time if you're free charging. Some of the restaurants have patios, so you can dine with your furry pals.

Yelp
First time here. B2 level. Upon entering, Make a left and immediate right to head down. Lots of chargers for Tesla and non Tesla vehicles. A bit dark but nice to have some shade it brea mall is too hot or rainy. I like how you don't need a parking ticket to enter. Easy peasy charging experience!

Yelp
Very happy with the location and set up of this new supercharger in downtown Brea. It's brand new, and todays my third time here. Weekday at 230 PM, and I'm the only one. The other 2 times, there was a handful of other cars. Even Saturday brunch time, I think there was maybe 5? Cars. It's located at the west parking structure inside downtown Brea. It's the structure I have always parked, and walking distance to all the little shops on West Birch. You can utilize the parking structure stairway, elevator, or just walk to ground floor and onto the sidewalk. From there, stroll downtown or do a grocery run at Ralph's! When driving from Brea Gateway (shopping plaza with Ralphs, Rite Aid, Homegoods & Taco Bell) , just drive right in in. Take a left to drive down to the basement. The charging stations technically start at ground floor and go down. So spacious, no more being nervous when cars are trying to reverse park into space next to/ or in front of you. Best charging in Brea, and I feel so spoiled now. (That mall location, I'm grateful for but honestly,.. the walk to even grab Starbucks was a pain)

Yelp
Hidden Supercharger spot on the downlow, clean and efficient. Those coming here know what to do and how to do it, some of the other spots guys will take there sweet ass time trying to squeeze every drop, but 80 percent is where you need to hit the sweet spot quickly and get out let the next person get their charge on. Most here get it, which is great!

John L.

Yelp
Very upset as this was a low cost of charging and as of today this location has doubled in pricing. It also has so many free chargers that it appears that the residence that live nearby just parked their cars there to charge indefinitely.

Michael K.

Yelp
People are constantly leaving their cars on the charger and has completed charging. It's 5 am and i saw at least 5 stalls that were parked in but the charging was complete. They should be fined.
