The Best Asian Snacks, Candy, and Dumplings at Teso Life | Eater Atlanta

"This Japanese department-store-style retailer on Pleasant Hill Road draws long opening-day lines—often stoked by social media—and is part of a rapidly expanding chain that first debuted in Queens about six years ago. Inside is a treasure trove of eclectic Asian beauty products, toys, and household goods from Japan, Korea, and China, but the real crowd-pleasers are the snacks and drinks: an aisle of unconventional potato-chip flavors (fried crab with garlic and chili, flame-grilled ribeye steak, spicy hot pot with Sichuan peppercorn, and even sour lemon braised chicken-foot–inspired chips), shelves of Kit Kats in melon and ice-cream flavors, every imaginable Pocky, Hello Panda bite-sized cookies with gooey fillings, Hello Kitty marshmallows with matcha jelly, and fruity gummies in yuzu, peach, and lychee. Wall-to-wall refrigerated drinks include Chupa Chups sparkling waters (strawberry & cream, melon & cream, orange, grape), Japanese canned coffees like Pokka Milk Coffee Gold, Suntory Black Boss, and UCC Matcha Latte, plus novelty beverages such as Matcha Love energy drink and gummy boba latte drinks in matcha and taro. The freezer/refrigerated section is built for quick meals—Nippon Gourmet Berkshire pork soup dumplings that heat in two minutes, takoyaki (minced-octopus balls), prepped tonkotsu seafood ramen, and desserts like a slice of Orange Brand mille-crepe vanilla cake—and the store also assembles themed gift baskets combining sweet and savory favorites." - Susie Chow

Stumbled across this store, trying to find something similar to Daiso- but when we went here this was amazing! It was so bright and clean. It was incredible to see it having everything you can imagine for snacks, drinks, toys, household products, health and personal care for such low prices at great quality. This is the first TESO Life we have been at, so we spent about 2 hours here. But it felt like we still had more to explore. Wish I took better pictures but we were overwhelmed how much there was! Loved this place.

I love this store, so many goods from Asian countries! And it's the only store I've found that has strawberry mushroom candy. Its very bright in there and it was packed with people, but the line to check out still moves pretty fast, the employees definitely know what they're doing.

I’ve been to multiple Teso life locations in New York, this Teso Life IS HUGE. They have an amazing selection of products and at great prices too. I was amazed by how large this Teso is and they even have some pop mart blind boxes. Easy to spend hours here. Staff was friendly and helpful.

This was our first time here. I came looking for a particular snack item a friend had purchased here, but unfortunately, they were out of that item. We were OK with that, because we were still like two kids in a candy store. This is an Asian-based store, and appears to have a large selection of condiments, sauces, foods, and snacks, as well as cookware & dishes. Also, there's a large selection of other items.

I really enjoy visiting Teso Life. Although I do not come often, every time I stop by the atmosphere feels warm and inviting. They consistently have new products in stock, and I especially love their selection of hair care items and snacks. One concern I have noticed across multiple visits is the level of monitoring from staff. I understand that it is part of their responsibility to oversee the store, but the constant watching can feel intrusive and makes it difficult to browse comfortably. Being observed so closely gives the impression that customers are suspected of wrongdoing, which can be uncomfortable. Overall, I appreciate the store’s variety and environment, but I hope the shopping experience can feel a little more relaxed in the future.

A Slice of Japan Right in America! 🇯🇵❤️ Teso is not just a convenience store; it’s a vibrant fusion of modern Japanese culture and everyday convenience! From the moment you step inside, you’re surrounded by a delightful array of Asian, primarily Japanese, goodies ranging from cosmetics to unique snacks and pop culture merchandise. Each visit feels like a mini-escape to Japan, where I can indulge my cravings for authentic flavors and quirky finds. Although the prices can be a bit steep—it’s absolutely worth it for the experience and quality. Teso truly brings a touch of Japan to our daily lives. If you’re looking to explore Japanese culture in the heart of America, Teso is a must-visit!

This is a great place to visit, not just a store, it’s a whole experience! Teens and young adults flock to the endless array of jelly candies, makeup and Asian snacks. It was so fun to just look at the aisles of artfully marketed candy. The prices are what you would expect for imports.

Great store with lots of various items. Snacks, drinks, toiletries, hair care, face care, home goods etc.... There's also crane games to play here as well. Tokens for them are available at the check out counter for purchase. Store is very organized and clean. Plenty of stores and restaurants nearby to explore. Expect it to be busy during the weekend and bring a cooler in case you live far and purchase any of their frozen goods. Bring ice too.
