I love Autograph hotels and have great experiences but that was not the case at TETRA Hotel. My fiancé and I have been waiting on their grand opening for the past few months for a mini staycation to celebrate our engagement anniversary. Pro tip: when it comes to celebrating a special occasion don't hesitate on letting them know. You're in for a treat! First things first, checking in! My interaction with the guest agents was longer than it should have been. Honestly, I had to use the restroom super bad but they didn't pick up on my body language or responses that I was trying to cut things short after making my payment and having my card made. Once I arrived in the room I noticed that they had gifted us with a bottle of wine, a card and some chocolates which was a nice touch on top of the complimentary upgrade ( Mountain View ). The view wasn't giving me scenic vibes because the only actual view we saw was the construction site lol. The hotel itself is very clean, warm and nice. The room was very spacious, modern, minimalistic and had a great bathroom with vanity. Did I mention they also have brand items like a Dyson Hairdryer, Fellow Kettle and some bath essentials from MiN New York?! You know you're getting old when you get hyped over things like this haha! Before dinner, my fiancé and I thought it would be a good idea to go for a dip in the pool during sunset and get ready right after. Unfortunately, once we got to the pool area we decided to dip our feet in the water to see if the pool was heated as mentioned by one of the GSAs--that was cancelled out since it was beyond freezing cold! Sucks we were given the wrong information. :( With no plans to workout and no proper apparel we headed over to the gym. Such nice views and super high tech machines in which you can watch Netflix on the machines or pair your phone to. To my ladies and gents that love spin class, they have pelotons! Fast forward, after dinner we decided to open up our bottle of wine. With no wine bottle opener on hand or in the room, we gave the night audit a call to see if she can have one delivered to us. Most awkwardest phone conversation ever. She seemed unprofessional and confused trying to find what to say. One thing that threw us off was that she mentioned that she'll give our room a call to update us once they've delivered it to the room. Waited 20 minutes for a call and nothing. So we went ahead and called back to see if it was available or even delivered and was told to wait another few minutes. Finally after awhile we seen the opener on the carpet in front of our door and got pouring away! The main thing that disturbed my fiancé and I the most was the fact how one of the housekeepers came into our room super early in the morning in the middle of our sleep. Mind you this way before 8 and the usual time of doing due outs. No knock or nothing! And yes the do not disturb sign was up!Weird enough, that housekeeper literally stood in front of our bed for quite sometime as if we were being checked to see how knocked out we were. Once the housekeeper left I wasn't able to go back to sleep since I didn't feel safe at all. I immediately woke up my fiancé who's a super deep sleeper and he was just as weirded out as I was. As he started getting ready for work, my fiancé told
me he woke up with body pains just like I did since the bed was too firm and sheets were too rough for our liking. If it wasn't for us bringing our own pillows and personal blanket I know for a fact that we would've been even more sleep deprived. Because of our poor quality of sleep, I asked if I could do a late checkout so I could sleep in and do my virtual meeting later on in the afternoon. I brought up my concern to Sol ( manager ) and Daniel after getting some coffee and they were extremely apologetic and understanding of where I was coming from. Once again, after sun bathing, taking a shower and my meeting-- I decided to take a quick power nap and housekeeping tries getting in my room! DND and door latch on, I was beyond pissed and just decided to leave. Overall, I am disappointed that I was the one who recommended staying at TETRA Hotel for celebrating our anniversary and feel that we would've had a better time elsewhere. With them being new one week in, I'm sure that there's plenty of room for training and improvement. If we do consider giving them another shot , hopefully it'll be a better experience.
