Everything on the menu tastes like it came straight from a Puerto Rican abuela’s kitchen in Puerto Rico, but right here in Killeen, Texas. The flavors are rich, comforting, and rooted in tradition — not watered down or Americanized, just authentic Puerto Rican cooking, made with love and pride. And for those who know the deal: yes, they’ve got pasteles on the menu year-round, not just at Christmas. This is hands down my favorite go-to spot for Puerto Rican cuisine in the area. If you're craving home-style flavors and that unmistakable Boricua soul in every dish, Texarican is where you go. If you’ve never tried Puerto Rican cuisine — don’t worry. You don’t have to speak Spanish to feel welcome here. The staff is incredibly kind, helpful, and happy to explain the menu in English if you need it. Whether you’re new to these flavors or grew up with them, Texarican makes everyone feel like family. Give it a try — you won’t regret it.

If you are tight on time and craving some Puertorican food, hit this place up! Amazing food selection of the most well-known dishes in Puerto Rico! Food quality is great and I always make sure to get the "Arroz con gandules" with roasted pork and Yuca or Tostones.

I just came back from Puerto Rico about a month or so ago, and the food here, in my opinion, is still better. The staff here is friendly all the time, but the food is always fresh and it is never old. I love the music they play here as well. Makes you dance and eat at the same time. It does get a little warm in here, but hey, piece of puerto rico 🇵🇷 lol I'll never get tired of coming here.

Let’s break it down. I ordered rice ( the served me a generous portion), pink beans (a very small serving), pickled green bananas, and pulled pork (pernil). • The rice and beans were decent—nothing special, but good enough. • The pulled pork was dry, lacked seasoning, and just didn’t deliver on flavor. • The pickled bananas were hard and flavorless—felt like they were either underprepared or just not fresh. • I had a Malta drink, which was cool but not cold—just okay. • For dessert, I went with a pastelillo de guayaba—unfortunately, it was like biting into a piece of cardboard. Very disappointing, especially for the price. Service-wise, the line staff felt robotic and not welcoming at all. The only bright spot was the cashier, who was very friendly and helpful. Bottom line: I wouldn’t recommend this place if you’re looking for flavorful food and warm service. It’s overpriced for the quality you get.

Christian was really nice and helped me figure out what i would like - never had Puerto Rican food before and it was delicious. I am a convert and will be back.

I'm super picky when it comes to my Puerto Rican food because I have family in Puerto Rico! But this spot I haven't been to in years so I was like let me try it out again! I guess when I came in the AC might've been broken, so it was really hot but I got the beef stew with arroz con grandules the beef is super tender just melted in your mouth really good! The restaurant was clean, which I appreciate, and they had hand sanitizer on the tables! The guy that was making the plates was a little bothered like he didn't wanna be there but you know sometimes good help is hard to find. All the other workers were really friendly and nice. My friend, she ordered the grilled chicken with white rice and pink beans and her response was we need to come back here! I'll be coming back the food was really good 8 out of 10!

Amazing food! But the ambience is like Amin and pop place. The people are very nice. They gave samples and answered the questions we had about the food.

Excellent food and customer service, they have authentic Puerto Rican desserts , the inside is very clean and spacious for a big crowd, Idefinitely recommend this place.

I tried it for the first time today! Food was really good, I highly recommend the ribs; super render and succulent. The service and ambience is really good, it kind of gives off a "eating at your cool aunt's house vibe." Although their cheese flan and arroz con dulce is a little bit lacking, I highly recommend this place. It's a little taste of Puerto Rico here in good old Texas.

This place will NOT disappoint. The food, music and customer service were excellent! The fruit punch, lemonade and passion fruit drinks are made in house daily. They made us feel super welcome. Will definitely be back. Buen provecho!

Very good authentic food and very friendly staff. I love it! My wife and I go there often for lunch and its not too packed. It is very comfortable with plenty of space.

Five stars all the way!! Unfortunately I ate all my food within minutes and forgot to snap a picture, but I will definitely be back again! The staff was super friendly and accommodating. I ordered the mahi-mahi per the chef's request and I love every bite. You can tell they really care about the food they create which I absolutely love. It's mostly buffet style (not self serve) so you can see all the food before you place your order but if you ask they'll likely have a few more options in the kitchen you can choose from.

Like many off-the-beaten-path restaurants the world over, this hole-in-the-wall place in the 440 Plaza has wonderful food and great service. When you've lived around the world as long as we have, you come to know that the hole-in-the-wall places are the BEST places to go. This place does not disappoint. Based on Yelp! reviews alone, we came and tried the carné frites and Mofongo. Absolutely off-the-scale amazing. Based on how the hubby attacked the plate, we WILL be back!

Had a good time with my family the food was good, we were sad they ran out of the Penile. It was our first time there and my son liked his white rice and nuggets. Two of my local friends tried something new since it was in town it was my pick. I would recommend this place to at least try.

Defenetly if you want the best!!!!! this it's the place. Freshly made original Puerto Rican food from the owner and Chef Edwin Camuy from Camuy Puerto Rico Place extra clean. My favorite it's mofongo an any soup made. the flavor you don't only taste the freshness of the food but the most important you can taste the love and dedication of every recipe. Best place in town for (Chillo) or fried Red Snapper I can go there every day and not regret at all Everything has the unique flavor of the dish Unlikely other restaurants that no matter what you order every plate taste the same. Too bad this app only has five stars because I would give the 10 happily Take a look at the food certificates and certificates and not many have cooked for a president (look at the pictures on the wall )

My friend took me here for the first time. I had white rice with the beef stew over it. So good! My complaint that is that part of my rice was absolutely hard and crunchy. Other than the crunchy rice it was good!!! If I ever come back to the Hood I will come back and eat here again.

Love the service, being from Hawaii with a Puerti Rican family this place made me feel like I'm at home with all the tastes they had to offer.

I stopped in to try this restaurant today and it was AMAZING! The staff was very welcoming and polite and the food was spot on. I ordered mofongo, carne frita, arroz con gandules and sorullitos and it was all delicious. I added a photo below but the picture just isn't enough. It's a must try!

You're served cafateria style. I opted for chicken, rice and pasta salad. The chicken was very dry and luke warm, the rice was decent and I enjoyed the pasta salad. It was almost $12 for my plate and a drink. Pretty expensive for mediocre food. I will not be back.

I tried their pernil and mofongo. The pork was a bit chewy. Tasted good though. I'm new to Puerto Rican food so I didn't know what to expect from the mofongo. Now, their arroz with habichuelas, beans and the salad that comes with the plates is why I will be going back. The beans and the rice were so full of flavor you can tell that it was made with love.

Chicken was great and moist. Rice is very good. The beans in this picture were okay but the ones I had before were delicious.

This place is pretty legit. Last thing I expected to find in TX is a really solid Puerto Rican restaurant but this is it. I'd be a regular of I lived here. They even have a hot counter of food which is what I ordered my food from. It was all good, though I won't lie, it was months ago so I don't remember what I ordered. Typical rice and beans and some kind of pork. If you've never had Puerto Rican food before this would be a great place to start.

Great! Get the mofongo; it's worth the wait. Took the server's recommendation to also get the coconut cream desert. Great recommendation. Most places I go, it's hard to find Puerto Rican food. This place was rated high on yelp, so I went to check it out and my fellow reviewers were right--you must check this place out if you find yourself in Killeen for whatever reason.

Food was good. Seems to be a popular place for Puerto Rican's as the place was full. We got the churrasco and mofongo, which was good, but the meat portion was very small, not like what I had in Puerto Rico. Prices were okay.

I LOVE Puerto Rican Food. I'm so happy I found a restaurant so close to home. The food is absolutely Amazing!! I got the Fried Pork with Arroz Con Gandules and green banana salad with a side of Mofongo. First time trying Mofongo and it was delicious!! The Mofongo and Gandule rice was the best things I've eaten! So damn good! The Husband got the garlic shrimp with Arroz Con Gandules and Tostones. He loved it too. He kept saying how good the Gandule rice was! I highly recommend this place if you want some delicious Puerto Rican food! The portions was good and decently priced. It was 25$ for our two plates a side of Mofongo and two canned sodas!

My coworker and I ate here for the first time because we heard it was good. The atmosphere was nice and pleasant. The workers were nice and professional. However, I wasn't too satisfied with the food. It was good but not as good as others have said. The price for the meal that I got was 13.00 (rounded nearest dollar). To be honest, I'm disappointed in the food. The rice was tasteful but nothing special. The chicken wrapped with bacon was ok, not very tasteful.This place is a Caribbean cuisine style establishment. Come try it for yourself.

Wow! This place is legit!! I went on a Sat during lunch so it wasn't that busy but food was absolutely fresh! Extremely authentic food as other's said. The combination of make a plate with available food to go or the ability to order something fancier (etc mofongo) is perfect. Plus, they sold a me dozen frozen pasteles that I could take back with me to Austin for the holidays! Can't recommend enough!

Prior to this restaurant, the only experiences with Puerto Rican food I had was eating at people's homes. This was just as good as any other homemade dishes I have eaten. The setup inside the restaurant is somewhat plain, but that isn't a detractor for my family and I. The quality of the food more than makes up for a lack of color on the walls. My wife and I had mofongo and tostones, and our less adventurous children were able to eat chicken strips, so they were happy too. There is definitely something for everyone here. I was visiting family in Killeen, and we went restaurant hopping by every Puerto Rican restaurant in the area. I can say Tex-Rican was the best so far! The food is just like the one served in the Island, the desserts are all phenomenal and the prices are perfect very affordable and worth it. We came to this restaurant a couple times just because the food was so great. If you're in the area you need to stop by.

Friendly staff! great prices! my favorite, go-to meal is arroz con gondules, with red beans on top and the chicken breast stuffed with yucca.... and fried plantains... with passion fruit juice to drink... all for under $13.... they have a hot bar of ready food to choose from or one can order off the menu.

I found this place here on yelp and didn't know what to get. They we're really friendly and had great service. The owners even came out to greet me. EVERYTHING I ordered was amazing!!!

They do not know how to answer phones at all . Called a couple times no answer . Ridiculous why have a phone if your not gonna answer .

Love the food here. Is legit and the staff is really friendly. Can't complain much about it. Is more like a fonda that like a sit down wait restaurant. That is perfect for just eat and go. I'll say Tex-Rican is the most accurate Puerto Rican restaurant in Killeen.

So good. We went for the 5 star reviews and were not disappointed! I had the chicken with yuca and rice with beans. My friend got bbq pork, that was just a tad dry. I also had the fried plantains that were delicious. Be sure to try the pineapple hot sauce vinegar that is by the condiments. So good. I used it LIBERALLY. The owner came by and checked on us to, that was nice. Want to go again! Definitely recommend.
