"International churrascaria Texas de Brazil has permanently closed its 5-year-old D.C. location, leaving a huge empty space (455 Massachusetts Avenue NW) in Mt. Vernon Triangle. The showy steakhouse, which featured a chef’s table, private dining room, 50-item salad bar, a South American wine wall, lounge, and a sprawling patio, accommodated 280 patrons across 8,700 square feet. The D.C. phone number is rerouted to the 22-year-old chain’s Fairfax location, which remains open, and an employee there confirmed the D.C. counterpart will not reopen. The cavernous space formerly housed Buddha Bar, which flopped in 2012 after a two-year run. Texas de Brazil waiters, or 'gauchos,' carve grilled meats from giant skewers tableside." - Tierney Plumb

Although this place holds a special place on my heart because that is the restaurant where my now husband and I had our first kiss, this time around it wasn’t as perfect. We took my in laws to enjoy this place, and first of all we had to wait 20min for our drinks after ordering (no that we would mind, but in a Brazilian restaurant where meat comes around the minute you seat down it isn’t good). The drinks arrived with us starting to feel full already. Our waitress seemed a bit lost and we had a hard time understanding her. The salad buffet was a bit old looking, not looking extremely fresh. But some stuff ok. The meat however was delicious and tasty. I am sure we ended up there on a bad day since our first visit was perfect. Would still recommend. And hope next time we come around it will be as perfect as we remembered

Not bad. Decent value for the quality. Some of the meats were a little over seasoned for my taste as I prefer less salt. Happy hour drink prices were great. I'd go back just for those even if I wasn't eating here. I did also like several of the salad bar items so it might be worth it for that as well.

The meat quality and service here felt much better than that in the Fair Oaks mall. I also like how there’s more natural light in the restaurant here and the option of a seating in the patio which is really nice! I’d give this place 5 stars but because the pricing is a bit too high in my opinion, I’ll stick to 4.

Thank you for surpassing my expectations!! This was a great visit. Actually I'm sitting here now. Marcus was my server and he was amazing! The gentleman that came to bring fresh plates and silverware was absolutely amazing. He offer to bring more bananas and potatoes but I was stuffed. The steak cuts were seasoned which is what I'm not accustomed to in a restaurant. But I'm so glad I visited today. Thanks

I think for the price it's not worth it. I was lucky and got to tried everything. I would personally avoid the lamb and chicken. Lamb is not for me and smelled fishy. Most of the chicken dishes was relatively dry and or overly salted. I was very disappointed on the filet mignon because they were cooked well done and that took away from the favor. I would rank the meats, picanha, flank steak, ribs, sausage, pork, chicken, and lamb in this order. The side / salad / soup dish were ok. The mushrooms sauce was good combination to most of the meats. Dessert, expresso, wine, and jack are additional to the bill and they were only ok. Again I don't think it is worth it for the price, but I hope this review does not discourge you. None of the meats I ate made me say this is the best meat I ever had! Kobe beef from Japan did and I would pay that 40 bucks in Japan for it again no questions asked.

Very nice restaurant but a bit overpriced. We’ve been here several times and the service is always great. Salad bar has a great variety of food, meat is always fresh and delicious. Lamb chops are my personal favorite but the last time they were thick cut and not juicy. Overall this restaurant is excellent for a special occasion.

All 16 of us had a great time celebrating my husband's birthday. The hot dishes on the bar were terrific. I even went back for seconds. They also had very nice selections of deserts. I ordered the creme brulee. Before I could taste it my mother asked for a taste. After getting up, when I returned a short time later, she had eaten more than half of it. She said it was really good. I definitely recommend this restaurant. Very open atmosphere and attractive decor. The service was great. Everything was brought immediately. The servers were on top of their skills. The only thing my family complained about was the coolness of the temperature. But overall great time for all of us!

Great experience! The server was very attentive. My fave from the salad bar was the sushi roll. I also tried heart of palm which was new for me. The lobster bisque was also good. The meats included Ribs, Pork, Parmesan dusted chicken, Filet mignon, Chicken wrapped bacon, Lamb, Bacon wrapped filet and more. My fave was the sausage - something that you think would be very basic but tasted amazing. They severed mashed potatoes and plantains as sides. I finished the meal with coffee and a chocolate cake. Make sure you go hungry because it is all you can eat and you will want to try everything!
