New Austin Pop-Up Restaurant Southeast Roadhouse Is About Asian Flavors and American Dining Chain Dishes | Eater Austin

"A new pop-up from chefs Nicolai McCrary (of Penang Shack) and Sakif Khan (of Good Jinn) that fuses Malaysian and Bangladeshi flavors with classic American casual-dining and steakhouse motifs. Inspired by meals at chain steakhouses and casual restaurants, the concept reworks familiar dishes—beef tartare with chile crisps, curry powder, and fried mustard seeds; an A1-style steak sauce built from tamarind juice and chiles; and dinner rolls made with naan dough and honey ghee. The initial menu highlights a lemongrass-and-brown-sugar–marinated bavette with mango pickles and spicy peanut sauce, an oyster duo (a grilled curry-buttered oyster with toasted panko and garlic and a raw oyster with a cilantro-chutney mignonette), and a Caesar dressed with fermented shrimp, naan breadcrumbs, fried anchovies, and shaved cured egg yolks. The first pop-ups take place in June with $125 tickets that include whiskey pairings by a Nashville-based distillery, Resy reservations, and additional dates to be announced." - Nadia Chaudhury

We enjoyed an excellent dinner here. Steaks were done properly and both the salads and sides were very nicely done as well. I recommend the strawberry cheesecake, it's a large portion and really excellent NY cheesecake. Keep in mind these are very popular restaurants so expect to wait for a bit to get a table during typical dinner hours. They do have a call-ahead option which really helps expedite getting a table. The noise level is quite high due to the large number of people but you'll enjoy a great meal here.

Excellent meal and service. The wait staff was great. Checked on us multiple times and was very attentive to our needs. At one point the music got louder and the wait staff began line dancing. It was a great atmosphere and good food. The place was filled up, but we didn't have to wait long for a table. Maybe a five minute wait at most. Our food came out quickly also. The bar area had good access to TVs with all of the games. Overall, a great place for a good dinner.

Mostly five stars. It was a little loud but then again we we seated in the bar area, so I suppose that's not really a negative. We had lunch and our table ordered a lot of different items. The server that was assigned to us was still training but he seemed eager to please in a friendly way and was attentive. Our drinks were refilled timely and we were offered extra bread... napkins etc. Overall the food was good and the service was also good. I will return. All the meals were hot and fresh, filling and hearty. Comfort food fast.

Wow, I’m kind of shocked. I’ve never had the need to leave a poor review for this establishment and location. Tonight the wait was long and the food was barely edible. I ordered on the app and the wait was long due to the dinner rush on a Friday night. I placed my order at 7:10 p.m. with a pick up time of 8:15 p.m.; my order was ready at 8:33 p.m. I always get the Dallas cut filet mignon (basically for the last 10+ years whenever I dine at a TRH) and this one was clearly low quality, chewy even at medium-rare. I literally had to stop and take a photo because there was a vein or tendon sticking out of my filet. The seasoned rice was half cooked and even the butter tasted like Country Crock. Clearly, to keep prices relatively affordable for their patrons, this chain has lowered the quality of their food significantly. I’m really disappointed, but not surprised. RIP Texas Roadhouse, this customer will be taking her $ elsewhere.

Excellent trip to Texas Roadhouse! My waitress, Kyler, was amazing and she recommended the Smothered Chicken. I went with her suggestion and added a loaded baked potato and some fresh vegetables. Everything was delicious and I was very happy with the chicken. The mushrooms on it were so tasty. I would recommend this location for sure!

Always great every time we've been! Love this place, food is excellent, service is great, atmosphere is cozy and fun, oh the peanuts 🥜 are in a bag up front just crab a bag. One our favorite places to take our music clients as well. Keep up the good work!

I have never had bad service or bad food here and we usually eat here at least once a week! My husband usually gets the bone in ribeye and it’s always cooked to perfection and I get the sirloin and I know that whatever doneness I ask for will be slightly more done so I ask for medium and get medium well. (It’s because of how small the steak is and the cut) they plate it and it keeps cooking even off of the grill. The grilled shrimp is yummy, chili is wonderful, and salad is always good! And I don’t even need to mention the ridiculously buttery fluffy rolls do I? 😋 They are also one of the very few places to get Coke Zero. I recommend to anyone looking for good food and service! 👏

I ordered the chicken fried sirloin with gravy. Delicious! I forgot to take a picture. Sides were loaded mash potatoes and green beans. All of which were delicious. The bartender was the best. She was working her butt off. I highly recommend and I will be back.
