I Was a Texas Roadhouse Skeptic—Then I Went For the First Time | Bon Appétit

"A lively, sports-bar–meets–country-steakhouse in Springfield, Illinois, the dining room is anchored by a mural of Illinois and Missouri sports legends—including Mike Singletary, Ozzie Smith, Chicago Cubs Hall-of-Famer Ryne Sandberg and a cigar-chomping Mark McGuire—mingling with a cartoon armadillo in a cowboy hat. The atmosphere is convivial and family-reunion–like: peanut shells on the floor (peanuts are free), servers who occasionally break into line dances, a horseshoe-shaped bar lit by a neon star, TVs on every wall, blonde wood paneling and taxidermy. Service is friendly and hands-on (warm, buttery rolls with cinnamon-honey butter are brought from the pass; servers will offer laminated menus or a photo guide to steak doneness), and the food favors generous, comforting, country-tinged dishes—famous sweet rolls, Cactus Blossoms, bacon-and-onion–braised green beans, gravy-smothered beef tips and hearty sides. Steak quality is generally solid though inconsistent in doneness (a strip that arrived a touch darker versus a reliably medium-rare bone-in ribeye), boxed-style mashed potatoes contrast with a well-executed loaded baked potato, and the staff-led rituals (napkin-waving saddle rides and shouted “Yee-haw!”s) contribute to a relaxed, easygoing stop that feels especially suited to road trips and group gatherings." - ByMaggie Hennessy

Texas Roadhouse is a favorite of ours. Fresh brewed tea was on point today. The hot rolls were a little doughy today. Not the usual. The steaks were excellent. As well as the girls’ chicken. Fast service and delicious food

It was busy but not packed the evening my daughter and I went to this Roadhouse. There was nasty food and a fork under the table. I ordered my steak med well and it came out med rare. Sent it back and it came back well done by the manager. He didn’t care. The service was terrible.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ If I could give more than 5 stars, I would! My experience at Texas Roadhouse was made extra special thanks to our amazing waitress, Katrina. From the moment we sat down, she was incredibly kind, attentive, and full of positive energy. She went above and beyond to make sure our drinks stayed full, our food was just right, and that we felt welcome and cared for the entire time. It’s rare to find someone who takes that much pride in their work, and Katrina truly stands out. Her smile, friendly attitude, and attention to detail made our night unforgettable. She’s the kind of person who turns a good dinner into a great memory.

Normally we LOVE Roadhouse. This time was terrible. Server wouldn’t write anything down then keyed in our order incorrectly. We voiced our order was wrong when it arrived and were told “I put in a re-cook ticket but I wasn’t really sure what to put on it”. Then we were told “this isn’t going well I’ll grab a manager” manager stood behind the server as we explained the incorrect order and what to put on the re-make order. Then the manager bolts without talking to us. Different manager comes up to us and we explain everything that happened. Got $20 off our order and we were there for an hour and a half. All the things that went wrong: Drinks came with ice (after requesting no ice) server repeated this. Chili came out with onions after stating only cheese no onion. (Again server repeated) Requested green beans and applesauce for sides. Got fries and mac and cheese. (Again server wrote nothing down and repeated the order back to us). Saw on the ticket she rang in the incorrect sides. Steaks came out over cooked. Replacement steaks weren’t the same cuts. Receipt showed our order was rang in incorrectly which explains a lot. I don’t mind servers not writing things down if they can accurately put in their orders, but clearly this gal can’t do that. It’s also frustrating when the server then turns around with an I don’t understand what’s wrong attitude when we are clearly stating the plates that came out were not what we ordered. Then to have a manager standing there listening to everything immediately bolt away without talking to the table was also just as irritating. The younger male manager was very helpful.

We had Sierra L. as our server and she was one of the best servers I’ve ever had! I’ve never had a server 1. Be so proactive with ranch!! 2. Offer to take my child’s food mat to the kitchen to wash off or 3. Come back to the table to thank me for a tip she well deserved! Food was yummy per usual!

My wife and I are in our mid 70's and we have been going to Roadhouse at least monthly for many years, and have always had a good experience - until today. Our server, Jacqui, when I asked if they had a senior discount, told us no, they don't have that. Then I asked her to bring a paper check, because we refuse to use the little battery powered kiosk thingy. (One time recently we tried to apply a gift card to our bill and it said it did, so we left the 'empty' card on the table, only to later find out that it had only used $10 of it for the tip.) So my wife added $6.24 to the $53.76 bill, making it an even $60.00. That amounts to a 12 percent tip, well within the 'expected' 10 to 20 % range. As we were leaving, things got bizarre! Jacqui was waiting outside my wife's restroom stall, and got in her face about the 'short tip' She said something about getting the short tip because they don't honor a senior discount, and she was not going to honor the $6.24 tip. My wife told Jacqui she won't need to worry about that because we won't ever be back. We left, had the kids working the front hold the doors open for us - all the same great service we had become used to. (I walk with a cane) One 'bad apple' out of the dozens of great, friendly staff spoiled the experience for us that day. What in the world is going on when a server accosts a customer in the rest room, about a 12% tip not being enough?

My recent visit to this restaurant was honestly such a letdown, especially since we were there to celebrate a birthday. Right from the start, our waitress had this rude, bossy attitude—like we were bothering her just by being there. It really set the tone for the whole meal, and not in a good way. We made sure to mention it was a birthday celebration when we arrived, and they said they’d do the birthday celebration special. Well, nothing happened. No dessert, no song, not even a simple "Happy Birthday." When we talked to the manager about it, he just smiled and gave this empty "sorry," but it didn’t feel sincere at all. If you’re going to apologize, at least mean it. The whole experience was just frustrating—bad service, no follow-through, and zero effort to make a special occasion feel even a little bit special. We won’t be coming back, and I’d honestly tell anyone planning a celebration to pick somewhere else. Such a shame.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch and ordered the steakhouse filet salad and it was delicious, a lot of flavorful tenderloin chunks and fresh vegetables, definitely a good value for the amount of steak served on the salad, sorry I didn't get a picture

Yelp
I LOVE their rolls, and I'm sure anyone you ask can tell you the same. Texas Roadhouse rolls are delicious and a must-have.

Yelp
We had a wonderful time as a family, we had eight people a baby that was restless, and a nine-year-old that does not stop talking. The serving staff was wonderful. The waitress went even as far to sit and color with my daughter so that we could eat in peace. The food is great, rolls are to die for and the atmosphere is super fun. we will be back many many times.

Yelp
absolutely the worst experience to ever have for your 21st birthday. They declined my Id because I didn't go to the dmv and get a new one. in the state of Illinois you always get time for government stuff and 9 out of 10 21 year olds use there same id they had before they turned 21, it states your birthday, and the card didn't expire until the 9 month of this year so they could've allowed it! The girl was so rude who served me, they acted as if I was doing a crime trying to order a drink on my 21st birthday! Absolutely the worst experience to ever possibly have. I ended up leaving selling my gift card I got gifted to me for my birthday and going to a Mexican Girll in Rochester who guess what allowed my id bc I just turned 21 and my id was still valid till it expired even the dispo expected the damn id !!! yall were pathetic asf! hope yall do better smh. The new renovation ain't gotta help the fact yall treat ppl like trash , the fact the server laughed when she declined me as well was messed up and she's lucky asl im calm because anyone else that wasn't me would've definitely handled her ina different manner then me.the whole experience was GARBAGE! 0/10 yall don't even deserve a point. rs. Don't even have good days cuz yall tried to make mine trash and tbh i hope yalls days just get worse!

Yelp
I dined at Texas Roadhouse last saturday. The hostess that sat my table, her name was Abbi pfeiler, she was extremely rude to my family and I. Not only that, but she had this repenting foul stench that gave me a strong headache for the entire dinner. Texas roadhouse, as an establishment you should take into consideration the hygiene of your employees. Thank you. And please do better with this stinky girl.

Yelp
If you want good food, great service and a positive ambience, this is your place in town. We had a server named Karsen and she was absolutely phenomenal. I'd recommend asking for her.

Yelp
Ordered the rib eye shrimp combo to go and it was ready exactly when it said after placing my order. The food was bussin'! Ordered with Caesar salad (fresh and crispy) and mashed potatoes with brown gravy (tasty). Order came with two nice sized warm and slightly sweet white rolls. Will definitely order a take out order from them again.

Yelp
Worse pickup order ever Springfield, IL. Ordered pork chops, the person on the phone heard pulled pork. very unhappy they put the wrong item on the order. Then for second order I did a veggie plate, sweet potato skin was burnt on one side, horribly burnt, baked potato was normal. garden salad ok. I ordered a bowl of chili instead of cup of chili for extra money, and they gave me a cup of chili, didn't barely cover my potato. a small half of a tiny container not even full. I paid extra didn't get it. Then I bit in bone bits in the chili. Beware of the chili, found 2 pieces of bone bits and a bite of grisle. I really can't stand this place, but my husband wants to always eat here for our anniversary. I don't think he wants to again, since he didn't get his pork chops. I wouldn't eat inside if it takes more than 30 mins for a table. We tried to wait in January for a table, but it was an hour and 1/2 wait. We waited 30 mins and was tired of waiting. Then we thought we would do take out instead. Went to window, they said they couldnt even do another take out order for an hour also. I don't understand why this place would be busy, with such sub-par fastfood like food. Wendys chili is better.

Yelp
Dined on Friday evening. Was superb. Thank you Josh our Server! Very busy location. All the food was served perfectly! Thank you!

Yelp
Stopped by here after driving from Virginia on my way to Iowa. So glad that I spent over $60 on meals for my wife, son and myself and having it take over 30 minutes just to get cold food. I ordered a steak and ribs meal with chili and a Caesar Salad. The salad was good. And...that was it. I love spending $22 for cold ribs and a cold steak that I had to put in the microwave to have it heated. My wife's meal was cold as well. This was an extremely poor first impression of this location and one that I WILL NOT return to. If I could give negative stars I would. Definitely WOULDN'T RECOMMEND THIS PLACE

Yelp
Idk the girls name that served me she worked with her daughter and was a total bitch. I asked for my change and she gave me 50 cents in Pennies. She is lucky my friend tipped cause she didn't deserve a cent.

Yelp
OMG, I went there for my birthday, because my job had them catered in 3 different times & I just had to go for my own experience, & sit down & enjoy the atmosphere. -It was the ABSOLUTE BEST !!! IDE have enough room to type my experience, but all I can say is GO !!! -Dine in, take out, just order it ! #MmMmMm #GOOD

George K.

Yelp
Our server was excellent for our party of 11. The food was served as ordered and was delicious. The prices were not out of bounds. We celebrated our friend's birthday and the ambiance was perfect. We had a hiccup when we were going to be seated due to a lack of communication between the hosts. When we were finally seated the host apologized for this mistake. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Don't do it!! I used to like Texas Roadhouse, but they've definitely gone down hill. My family and I tried the early bird dinner on Sunday. My wife and daughter got the pulled pork dinner and it was overdone. I got the veggie plate; the chili was good, the Caesar salad was half stems, the broccoli was underdone, and the fries were lukewarm and bottom of the bag. So I don't think, I got my monies worth. FYI, when it is okay not to tip the waiting staff the expected 20% for not looking out for well being of the customer?!
google avatar

Al K.

Yelp
Almost always full, probably because they don't open until 4:00. Service was good, food was good, prices are fair. I ordered the Portobello Chicken (yes, in a steak place), but those mushrooms were not portobello's, rather the sliced white ones you see in produce sections! Mine was to go, so I didn't discover it until I got home. Oh well. Rolls are the best!

Shakrya J.

Yelp
The appetizers came out really quickly and so did the food and it was EXTREMELY GOOD. I was actually surprised with how busy they were. The rolls were always hot and fresh. And the service was very quick and fast even without my server having many tables.

Yelp
Prime rib And rolls And Angry Orchard lol So I have I guess I'll have to talk more about prime rib because I love prime rib and it's a salad place to go get it over by the mall

Yelp
I've been here multiple times in the past, and while it's not the best steakhouse you've ever been to, it's pretty good for a chain. The steaks here are pretty good, but I prefer their other meals. My favorites are chicken critter salad, the cheese fries, and their rolls--of course. Really, it's hard to go wrong with any of the appetizers. The only thing I wouldn't recommend here would be the grilled chicken because it was overdone, and the sirloin steak because ribeyes are better! Overall, while I prefer to stay away from chains, this place has great consistency across restaurants. The Springfield location seems to always have great service, and the wait isn't too long even when it's busy. Come early for specials and to avoid the crowd.

Kelli V.

Yelp
Ordered two Dallas fillets, medium rare. I got two sirloins medium well. Talked to manager that said fillets this delivery were bigger than normal. Not buying it, didn't taste like fillets. Manager would only discount $5, I got charged $16 more for the wrong kind of steak. Service was horrible, couldn't get anyone to bring steak sauce to make steak edible. Will NOT be returning!!!

Clair J.

Yelp
This was our first visit to the ever-popular and busy Texas Roadhouse! We utilized the "Join the Waitlist" option before visiting and it was great, was accurate on wait time and seamless. Friendly staff, fantastic, friendly and helpful server (name tag Pork Chop). All staff seemed to work together well to ensure a smooth flow. Food was excellent! Everything was cooked perfectly, hot, fresh and delicious. Although it was packed, food was brought out quickly. I will say though, it gets VERY warm and toasty in there - leave the coats in the car!

Yelp
Was in town for work and often like to try a local flavor when I travel. But food and steak were very good. I will be back.
google avatar

Michael P.

Yelp
Overpriced with cheap quality. The waiter and staff were amazing. For an appetizer we got cheese fries, fries are impossible to get wrong, but the cheese was just sliced American and shredded cheddar, the cheese wasn't even melted, very cheap. My table mate got a steak smothered in onions and mushrooms, they were burnt and almost made them sick. I got a chicken critters with a half rack of ribs. The ribs were excellent. The chicken is horribly small and extremely overpriced, and a minute undercooked. Music so loud you can barely talk.
google avatar

Debbie F.

Yelp
Good food for reasonable pricing. The rolls are served fresh and warm. The dinner salad is loaded with all kinds of goodies. The steak is always cooked to my liking. It's delicious and always juicy. They are very consistent with the quality of food. My husband and I have eaten at several different locations. Texas Roadhouse is certainly a good deal!!!

Yelp
Took my disabled Mother out to TRoadhouse because she's never tried their ribs. Show up 2 min. after their "SUPPOSEDLY" open up and there's a 40 minute wait. They fail to make mention of that they take seating reservations at 3:45 any where on their web site. Spoke to manager she apologed and said she only works there.

Olivia P.

Yelp
The honey butter is good. Love the rolls. Food is okay. It's always loud though. Steaks are fine.

Greg A.

Yelp
I am never I repeat never going back to this establishment again . We checked in and asked for a table and was told there weren't any tables available upon being seated at a booth which I didn't fit .I asked to be sat at a table which I explained I didn't fit and the hostess laughed because I couldn't fit . so we left .after thinking about her laughing about me not fitting in the booth I called the manager to hear her lame excuse of she probably wasn't laughing just smiling to be friendly and the excuse of her. eing new . I am gonna spread this story to everyone I know to let them know about people being shamed and discriminated against for being too big for a booth . shame on you Texas roadhouse and I hope the owner sees this .

Rick W.

Yelp
Wife and I dined there last evening. I had Filet Medallions (found new favorite) wife had 8oz Sirloin ... both cooked to perfection to each of our likings. Service was excellent !! The only reason I didn't rate it a 5-star was because it was a little loud for our dining preference but understand that's part of the Cowboy ambiance ...
google avatar

StacyAnd J.

Yelp
Really a 3.5! Wait time wasn't too bad for a Saturday afternoon. Rating lost. 5 due to corn spilled under the table we were seated at and burnt rolls. If it weren't for Andrew's great customer service and giving us new rolls immediately, our dining experience would have been different. My daughter's steak wasn't cooked to the right temp, but Andrew took care of it. TR experience was to be expected. Andrew made it better. Love Texas Roadhouse

Yelp
This was our first bad experience at any Texas Roadhouse. Our glasses came to the table with dirt floating in the soda. Our server got us two replacement sodas. The outsides of the glasses felt like they had residue on them, but we wiped them off and kept them. Our blossom was cold on one side. We didn't complain, and ate the hot side. When my steak came, it was mostly fat. This was a strip steak. The server took it back, and brought me a new one. I waited almost 25 minutes for the new steak. My son was done with his by the time mine came back out. I ordered it medium rare. The one I got was rare and cold. Our server did not come back to check on us, and another server overheard our conversation and offered to get a manager. Our server, in the meantime, brought the check.. She asked if I wanted the steak recooked, but I declined. We had been there for an hour and a half at that point, not including time spent waiting for a table,, and needed to get home. She again repeated that a manager would be out, and left with our check and my credit card. I had never intended not to pay for my son's dinner, drinks, or the blossom. I hoped that perhaps I would be comped a percentage of mine, which was inedible. She returned having run my card for the whole amount, and after waiting for 20 minutes for the manager to come (which he never did), we left. I understand that restaurants can have an "off night", but this was terrible. As much as going out to eat costs these days, and with as many choices as Springfield has, we will think twice about choosing this location again for awhile. Very disappointing.
google avatar

Jon L.

Yelp
We were on our way through and needed a good lunch. Texas Roadhouse is usually fairly consistent in most places so we stopped for lunch on a Sunday. We got right in with no wait. Our server was nice and checked on us often. Food was delivered in a reasonable amount of time, was correct, and hot. I had the sirloin steak with chili & seasoned rice. My wife had the chicken critters. My daughter had mini cheeseburgers and corn. All was very good. Overall, good location to eat at, good service, and good food.

Yelp
I'm a lover of steak. I really like the choices of steak, chicken, and fish. I had the baked sweet potato vs the regular potato. TVs all around the bar area made it hard to watch anything but the Super Bowl. Seating is very casual and roomy. No worries about bumping elbows. The margaritas were on ! Staff are always very courteous and cheerful. After delivery of peanuts and dinner rolls and butter, they always seem to ask if you want an appetizer. Menu covers a vast array of food arrangements. Always a favorite when I'm out for a good meal.

Yelp
This was the most satisfying restaurant food experience I've had in awhile! We ordered takeout: sirloin steak, ribs, chicken strips, salad, baked potato, mashed potatoes, fries and rolls. I steamed some broccoli and sautéed zucchini to go with it. Everything was delicious! Don't you love it when restaurant food exceeds expectations?! I didn't expect each thing to be so good! As someone who loves to cook, I am often slightly disappointed or sometimes very disappointed by restaurant food, ESPECIALLY chain restaurants! I will most definitely be back!!
google avatar

Josh S.

Yelp
The service here was fantastic. There was an error made and it was quickly corrected politely. The steak was nice and juicy perfect grill frappe and marks. The country fried chicken was huge with nice crisp crunch. The gravy over the chicken was perfect and complemented the chicken well. Green beans were perfect, loved the bacon flavor. Salad had a bunch of stuff added to it not just lettuce and a few things. I highly recommend the honey mustard on the salad and dipping the croutons in the honey mustard. The rolls are addicting and the cinnamon butter it toxic goodness. Be sure to get your own cinnamon butter so you can dip your bread and not share. Jamaican Cowboy alcohol drink was pretty tasty as well, recommend the $2 kicker to make it pack more punch.

Yelp
Dare I say that I ate some of the best chicken I've ever had in my life here for lunch the other day?! I ordered the rotisserie half chicken and um, YUM! My taste buds we're loving life as I wolfed down my entree in next to no time. I was with two other people and one of them ordered the same thing I did and the entire time I was hoping she wouldn't be able to finish her portion so she could give it to me! Call me fatty if you wish, but as someone who works out a ton and eats a very healthy diet, a little extra CLUCK in my mouth is just fine by my standards...and TR was very accommodating to the fact that I have food allergies, so there was NO DAIRY to be found... On my plate at least!

MIchael L.

Yelp
Texas Roadhouse is a decent steakhouse for the price. I really like their wait list process via their app. My only complaint is that it is a very, very noisy restaurant. Terrible acoustics. Because their restaurant building are pretty much all the same the acoustics are always bad so that the ambient noise in each restaurant is really loud. So loud that you can't really have a normal conversation . The general architect for Texas Roadhouse should address this.

Edward H.

Yelp
I probably would have enjoyed the chilli if it wasn't so hot. Some prefer to eat spicy dishes. But I think over doing the the chilli. It was so spicy (hot) that it continued to burn my mouth and lips. PLEASE TONE DOWN THE HEAT ABIT SO SOMEONE CAN ENJOY THE FOOD. I for one don't like the heat . Other than that . It was good just the chilli was burning my mouth and lips

Yelp
Worst Texas Roadhouse experience ever!!!!! 6 guests! Seated quickly as Hoped for host and hostesses very nice. Our waitress came up right away for what we thought would be a great experience!!!! We heard how she has 3 babies d just returned to work! We get bread plates! Filthy dirty disgusting broken plates are given to us!!! The waitress tells a busser please go get clean unbroken plates he returned with dirty and at least 2 with chips! The waitress throws the kid under the bus saying you can't put 16 yrs old in charge of this! She leaves to go get plates can you guess what we got yep dirty plates!!!! So we ask for a Mgr Rebecca comes over says she will make sure our dinner plates are clean before our food is brought out! Lies!!! I was sharing with my daughter and filthy plate was brought out! The Rolls oh yes gets better!!!!! We didn't get them sitting down never had this happen! Then we get the lie Rolls are not done! Finally we get rolls!!! If those were fresh out of the oven Texas Roadhouse needs new ovens! Cold not even warm and doughy in the middle! Out comes the meal steaks not cooked properly this was it!!! Bill time! Waitress asked to take my plate I said yes it was disgusting chewy over cooked and my baked potato was cold the cheese didn't melt! We've waited for cold rolls that were supposedly fresh out of the oven the filthy plate yet again coming with our dinner and she started to argue and we again ask for the manager Rebecca again comes over and clearly states she did not check our plates as she said she would. She has 57 other tables to worry about she doesn't have time to do what she told us she would!!! Hmmm wonder where the staff gets lying to the customer and not following through!!!! This is not a at least they showed up this was a I don't care enough to make the customer happy salmonella poisoning waiting to happen!!!! Rebecca wanted us gone and didn't want to make it right! Excuses excuses not One Single apology! At least she covered the bill but I would rather of had a pleasant experience and paid the bill!!!! When we walked out they were standing right by the order station complaining about us! Not their Staff!!!!! This place puts other amazing Texas Roadhouses to shame and makes for a bad name!!! Rebecca should not argue with customers she should stand by what she tells customers what she will do!!! Glad we will never return to this location!!!!! I bet if food inspectors came in there it would be shut down instantly!

Yelp
We had a nice experience here on a Sunday afternoon. A super busy restaurant with the cowboy feel. I'm not going into too much detail because I'm certain most people have been here before. The Springfield location was nice, we had a great waiter who was knowledgeable, attentive and had a great personality. Dan? Doug? Nice guy. We each had a bone in rib eye which was excellent. Basic boring sides but they were warm so that's a plus. The only downfall to places like this is the wait staff move you along so quickly I feel rushed to finish and give up my table. Not what I go out for dinner for but then again, we don't eat here often so it was a nice treat while we shopped and ran errands.

Yelp
This was my first time at this restaurant. The staff were professional. The food was delicious. The only disappointment I experienced is when I found out Rattlesnake bites did NOT contain rattlesnake. The was a bummer but these little bites were scrumptious and spicy! The potatoes were delicious too. I also had a steak--- I've had better but it wasn't so bad. The drinks were good. The alcoholic drinks were also tasty and they are generous with the liquor. The decor is all wood. And the tables are really close together. I don't remember if they had music but I do remember seeing a television behind the bar I think. If you do not like crowds, don't come on a Wednesday. That is $10 steak day! Would I go here again? Of course!

Yelp
Every time I eat here, no matter what city, I have the same complaint. Their fall off the bone baby back ribs are dry and tough. Every flipping time. I seriously don't understand why they don't address this problem. I can't seem to get them to fall off the bone like they do. But mine are for sure tender and juicy.

Yelp
The steak wasn't cooked well and it was hard to chew. The service was slow as well. Overall wasn't a good time. Bread was good though.

Yelp
I understand the Covid problems but the service we received last night was terrible, We received more service from others than our own waiter. Since reopening the quality's of service and food have really declined.

I always enjoy Texas Roadhouse. It's one of the few chain style restaurants that you can count on for consistency. The food is always great, the service is always excellent, and there never seems to be a problem! I love being able to go in, order my meal and get exactly what I requested, with a smile. The roadhouse is also a great place to get a truly good cut of steak cooked to perfection! Yum! If you have never been to a Texas Roadhouse before, this is not your quiet, date night style eatery, it's an in your face, noisy, high energy level place. That being said you can wear what you want, eat what you want and enjoy the entire experience (and it IS an experience!). You will not leave hungry, as they give you peanuts in the shell to snack on while you wait, and honey butter with hot yeast rolls. YUM! The portions are all more than generous and again, always cooked to perfection! Stop on by the next time you are in town, you won't regret it! Also-don't let the prices deter you! I stopped by for lunch this time and enjoyed a full steak meal for under $10!

Yelp
Have eaten there several times since my last post, always happy to see us, we have found our server, Zippy and always ask for him although we haven't had a server we didn't like. The sirloins, ribs, chicken are all great, the potato skins and the onion are our favorites for appetizers. The staff always has a smile on their faces and I love to look at the steaks in the cases as we walk in the door. Get there for their early bird specials and on Wednesday they have the sirloin special.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Springfield! The servers are always so friendly and helpful, and always make sure your meal is good! I find consistency to be an issue with many other restaurants, but this is not one of them! Each time I have gone, my steak is cooked perfectly don't even get me started on those amazing rolls!

Yelp
My Dad was generous enough to treat my sister and I to dinner here over the Christmas holidays. We were seated at a booth within 25 minutes of our arrival. Our server Derek was AMAZING and that is why Texas Roadhouse is receiving even one star. We ordered the Texas blossom appetizer which was yummy. My dad and I ordered the 12 oz prime rib dinner and my sister ordered the rib eye steak dinner. Our prime rib was undercooked and my Dad and I politely asked that it be cooked a bit longer. Our server Derek obliged and within 10 minutes we were served our prime rib cooked correctly. However, it was tough and flavorless. Absolutely one of the WORST CUTS of prime rib I've ever been served, it was completely INEDIBLE. My sister and Dad ordered mushrooms for their steak and prime rib and they were served CANNED MUSHROOMS. For the OUTRAGEOUS PRICES that Texas Roadhouse charges for their dinners, they should be serving FRESH MUSHROOMS. I could also tell that the corn they serve as a side dish is CANNED CORN. Once again, EXPENSIVE PRICES dictate that their customers should receive FRESH INGREDIENTS. My dad and I had asked for creamed horseradish sauce for our prime rib. What we received was raw horseradish in ranch dressing, that is NOT creamed horseradish sauce. I can't believe that people flock to this restaurant to consume MEDIOCRE FOOD AT RIDICULOUS PRICES.

Yelp
The food was perfect and yummy as always. The difficulty was picking up the order. We ordered online and appreciated the outside pickup window. The problem was our order was supposed to be ready at 7:45 and we didn't get our order until 8:30. They would give us 10-15 minute increments of time that it would be ready and it kept getting delayed.
