Texican Court...You've been my favorite hotel for the past few years...my wife and I celebrate our anniversary there each year. However, after our stay this past weekend, I'm afraid that tradition is coming to a close. You see, what we loved about Texican Court, is the care and thoughtfulness that goes into every step we take here. From the moment we arrive, to the moment we leave. However - this trip - that was not the same.
From the moment we arrived, and received our key card, we saw something unheard of...a group of hotel guests sitting outside their room, on the rocking chairs that grace the doorstep of each of your rooms with a cigarette in hand allowing each guest that walked by the ability to have their own second-hand smoke, and cover their clothes in the stench. What made this even better is the hotel staff simply walking by and not saying a word to them. Almost as if this is encouraged in this sort of outdoor hotel.
This was just the beginning.
After we've walked past the smokers who graced us with their stench, we found our door - just 1 door down from these pungent individuals. We decided that we had time to burn before our dinner reservation and we'd spend that time in the trademark pool with a margarita nearby. But on this beautiful Saturday afternoon there was no pool bar...which typically that's no problem, we'd just walk over to the two mules cantina and grab a drink at the window and head back to the pool. But no. This time, the windows to order from the outside are shut, and to walk inside from the pool, to place an order you must have a shirt - which again, no big deal if the pool bar that is a staple to this experience was available..but on a hot Saturday afternoon, you have decided to not have this staple...for some reason. So, slightly inconvienced but not the end of the world, I walk back to the hotel room, grab a shirt, throw it on and order my drink, but each time we do this we have to repeat the process. A bit frustrating.
Had this been the only issue with my stay, i would have still given you 5 stars for how much I love this hotel, but it didn't stop here.
While we only stayed for 24 hours here, I found the staff went above and beyond to make sure we were inconvenienced. Specifically on the day of checkout. I had requested a late checkout, to which it was granted (again, one of my favorite things about this hotel, you are typically so accomodating and friendly) but on this particular date, when my late checkout is at 3pm...it's almost as if the staff had forgotten...as we receive a knock on our door at 2:58PM...not to check on us and make sure we had everything we need...but to actually state the following 2 minutes before my checkout time: "we just need to check the stock in your fridge, proceed to walk in, open my refrigerator for .2 seconds, close it and walk out without so much as a "can i get you anything, did you enjoy your stay, how can I help.." nothing. It was the ultimate "GET OUT", and I get it, you've got to turn beds. But at what cost? The cost of someone ever returning?
So to cap it off, Since you clearly allow smokers openly, the pool bar closed on a weekend in this hot August, and being effectively ushered out of your property prior to checkout time...I think we've finally had enough. I've loved everything about this hotel and have recommended to countless friends and family who have now stayed here multiple times, but its clear the service has taken a turn for the awful and I can't return here or recommend this hotel any longer.
