TGI Fridays Files for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy | Eater Dallas

"Filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection over the weekend after the closure of around 50 locations nationwide the previous week and more than 80 closures in total for 2024. Headquartered in Dallas, the company operates a mix of franchised and company-owned restaurants spanning 41 countries; the franchised locations, as well as the brand and intellectual property held by the franchisor, are not affected by the filing. A company statement said: “The company expects to use the time and legal protections made available through the Chapter 11 restructuring process to allow the company to explore strategic alternatives in order to ensure the long-term viability of the brand.” Executive chairman Rohit Manocha cited the cause of the current woes as "financial challenges from COVID-19 and the chain’s financial structure" in a statement. Industry context notes this is part of a longer-term decline for casual sit-down chains: Eater observed in a 2017 piece that such chains "have been falling out of favor and facing financial challenges for a decade," linked to the declining spending power of the middle class, and Bloomberg similarly pointed to tighter consumer budgets and a preference for fast food as drivers of the filing. Coverage captures a broader sentiment that it may be "out with the old and in with the new — or, at least, in with the viral." - Courtney E. Smith

The food and alcoholic beverages are pretty overpriced for the bland flavor they have. I ordered the dragon salmon and the double berry mojito, and it really was not something out of this world. I just sipped the mojito like 4 times and left it almost full. The server was attentive, but the host was not that friendly.

We had a wonderful dine-in experience at TGI Fridays at the airport! The food was absolutely delicious—we ordered breakfast, and boy was it good. Everything came out fresh, hot, and flavorful. Our waitress was amazing—attentive, friendly, and made us feel welcome from the start. Overall, a pleasant surprise for airport dining. Highly recommend!

First time at this location, but good to see that they maintain the same operational standards. I had the Queso Burger, which was good, but the lower bun was too thin, which made my burger collapse. The place was busy even though it was 3 pm when I got there. If you need to work, this is a good spot as a few tables have power outlets. The waitress was genuinely interested in meeting my needs as a guest.

February 2025 Stopped by here right before our flight. I enjoyed my ribs and wings. Not sure why TGIF wasn’t successful outside of airport. Flavorful offerings and attentive servers during our visit. Recommended this restaurant.

For the record, it has been a long while since I've visited any Friday's location, let alone an airport-based one.. In my 20s (back in the early 1990s, mind you), Friday's was a bit of a staple for several friends and me, so today's visit brought with it a bit of nostalgia.. I sat at the bar and enjoyed a "Fri-Yay" margarita crafted with Patron Reposado and the other customary ingredients.. I also enjoyed an order of mozzarella cheese sticks.. Service at the bar was great, with all three bartenders ensuring I had what I needed over the course of my stay.. The margarita was pretty good, but not the best reposado-based margarita I've ever had.. That said, it hit the spot and was at a price point I expected for a top-shelf margarita in an airport.. The cheese sticks were exactly what I hoped they would be.. Served piping hot 🔥 with a great cheese pull and Friday's legendary marinara on the side.. These delivered the nostalgic vibe I hoped they would.. All in all, I'm glad I visited and will certainly consider visiting again when passing through this section of Terminal B at DFW..

Stopped here to grab a bite while on a layover. They sat me right away, basically during peak lunch time. The server was pretty friendly, but halfway through he told me he had to use the restroom and told me to pay using my phone. I was good with that, but he never disappeared, just hung out in the server area. So, that just seemed a little weird. Ordered the Million Dollar Cobb salad. It was pretty good. All in all, good experience, I will eat here again.

I was so impressed with the service at TGIF Terminal B. DFW was in a ground stop and the restaurant was packed with a waiting line. The staff was so quick and efficient and the servers so accommodating, especially Amakaeze Okereke who had a great attitude. The food arrived hot and I enjoyed watching college football while I ate. The tables had plug ins so I could charged my electronics while I ate.

Staff was friendly and attentive. Coffee was delivered in a ceramic mug first that was dirty around the lip, so I asked for a fresh cup of coffee in a to-go cup so I wouldn’t risk getting another dirty mug. She graciously brought me a fresh cup of coffee in a to-go cup but definitely stiffed me on the amount of liquid actually in the cup as evident in the pictures. Ordered steak and eggs for breakfast and most of it was good but the steak was extra chewy (though ordered medium-rare), almost inedible and near impossible to cut with the plastic knife they give you at the airport.
